5 comments about Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides).
- To all who is considering to buy this game guide, I highly recommend that you purchase this guide, its totally worth the 19.00 and tax. If you are kind of confused how to play lego star wars the complete saga, this is the very thing you need. I have completed every level and now working on getting more gold blocks from finding all the minikits, and i am also collecting the red bricks needed to unlock special cool features, like fast build, and super slap, just to name a few. Without this guide, I would not have semi-completed this game, I would have pulled my hair out just to figure what to do. I know later on, you will thank me for suggesting this Amazon product to you. It surely put a smile on my face.
- I bought this guide because it was the only one available and silly me I thought it would include information for the Nintendo DS version. It doesn't. Just wanted to give anyone else a heads up before they make the mistake of wasting their money like I did. I bought it because I can't find some of the bricks and cannisters and it is not helpful at all.
- In my recent trip to Mcallen, I've see it in a Toy'R'Us (more expensive than Amazon), but for a strange reason I did not bought. Now I'm seeing that is very useful, because the game (that is very easy) did not explain a lot of things, and maps are the most unvaluable help in this guide, because you have only 10 minutes to search blue canisters. Every thing is showed with a lot of precision ande make more dinamic the game.
- Somebody should alert new buyers that this guide is useless for Nintendo DS users (as I am).
- Really Helps : ) and good picture to help you find all of the "goodies" too.

5 comments about Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion -- Revised & Expanded (Xbox360, PC) (Prima Official Game Guide).
- An excellent guide. Complete and thorough. Very easy to find a section for later reference. The only thing I would've done different is made different colored edges for each section so I wouldn't have to use stickies for quick flipping.
- Now here's an extended manual we can all love.
Prima has always been very classy about their guides, even including a few shakey no-no's(initial guide's were not binded very well) they've always managed to put their own personal touches into certain guides, as if to let us now that this is one they enjoyed playing immensely.
Though it does NOT include the Shivering Isle's strategy this is STILL a great purchase for those picking up the game. One of the few guides that help in varying approaches to enemies and bosses.
- This game has great graphics and LOTS of detail. I really don't know how someone would play it without the Guide.
- I got this game for my teenage kids. They talked me into playing it (I don't play a lot of video games) and I got hooked. It is amazing how a person can do what he wants, go where he wants, when he wants in a game. The scenery and animation is breathtaking and the game interaction is exciting and enjoyable. I really like the feeling of total freedom of movement and choice of adventures to partake of. If you haven't played RPG before, you'll love this one.
- Ah the World of Oblivion.
Quite simply one of the most amazing games ever made, in my humble opinion.
The game guide - well, it could be better...
I had to return the first book - a series of pages were crimped and terribly misprinted. I would have returned the second copy but the retailer did not have another. The text in many of the sidebar sections of the pages are horribly blurred - in some sections completely unintelligible - sections that of course pertain to the main storyline of the game.
Aside from poor printing issues, the book contains an unbelievable amount of information. The book is huge! Especially helpful is an index, which allows you to quickly get help on some of the more obscure topics of Oblivion, such as the magical soul gems, buying houses, and owning horses.
What I especially enjoyed about this book was how it gave you a little "behind the scenes" insight into the story, the characters, and the expansive land that is Cyrodiil. On occassions when I'd get a little trigger happy and skip some dialogue, I could usually go back to the book to pick up the part of story that I missed.
Don't buy a shrink-wrapped copy. Leaf through it to make sure it's legible, then sit down and prepare to use a lot of spare time. Also, be sure to flip through the non-quest information towards the back of the book - there's some pretty neat stuff documented that without this book, most players probably wouldn't even know about.

4 comments about Assassin's Creed Limited Edition Art Book: Prima Official Game Guide (N/a) (Prima Official Game Guides).
- I am an (allmost 60) year old lady , I have no man, BUT I've got the X-box.....playstation 2 and 3,... nintendo 64..., gamcube and the WII of course, I like action adventure en button-bashing in my games, a few years ago I played with my sons ( the parts I could't-do.... not quick enough)but they arn't living at home anymore (they are 30) so I have to try by myself......sigh... but with this book as clear as it is and beautifull pictures,!!! I am sure I can get a looooong way trough..
- I haven't played Assassin's Creed, nor do I have a platform that supports it - I just wanted to mention that up front. I'm a fan and collector of conceptual art books, and after having seen the trailers and commercials for this game, I decided to go ahead and get this book. It's a nice book, certainly, chock-full of illustrations that helped in the conceptualization of the game, everything from the minutiae of the main character's costume, to various images of knights, peasants, etc. It's nicely produced, printed of good paper, and has a sturdy hardcover binding. I suppose why this book gets 3 stars is because there's nothing here that is especially eye-popping or earth-shattering here: while the art is well done, it's fairly ordinary and I wish there were more interesting designs, etc. Additionally, the commentary text seems to have been hurriedly edited, as I noted some typos, etc. I'd recommend this book for conceptual art collectors and, probably, diehard fans of the game.
- Assassin's Creed limited Edition Artwork has a lot of production design into the riveting game by Ubisoft. You will be drawn into the production as these programmers and artist re-create the Holy Land of 1191. Actual city layouts are identical to the time period, masses of people move in and out and great care was taken in the design of their clothings, their look and their manners. All of this described in great detail in the pages of this book. One of the best how-it-was-made guides.

5 comments about The Musician's Guide to Pro Tools.
- I've used a number of these and this one seems to get down to the practical things that you need to know in dealing with recording with Pro Tools. It's been a while since I've recorded so this was sort of like starting over. This book takes you step by step in set up and gives good pictures and illustrations of what you're doing. It comes with some files you can load but it recommends that you create some of your own. I found that to be very helpful. It took me from hooking up any instruments, drum boxes, or whatever to recording something to work with. It made it more "real world" instead of just following a file you've been given.
It's truly a book from a musician to a musician. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get down to recording!!!
Doug
- The other reviews pretty much cover what this book is about, but here's another perspective. I consider myself an intermediate PTLE user, but recently upgraded from 6.9 to 7.4. This is the only book I found that covers PTLE up to 7.3.1, and I've found it very helpful in explaining many of the new features that 6.9 didn't have. Even some of the material I thought I knew is covered from a slightly different perspective, which was helpful, and there were some cool tips about things I'd never thought of before.
Overall, the book is well written and edited. I think if you're coming into PT from another DAW, this might be all you need to get to an intermediate level fairly quickly. (Wish I'd had it when I was first starting out.) If you have no recording experience at all, you might also benefit from a more basic primer on general hard disk recording. For a basic PT reference, I like "Pro Tools for Dummies". As others have pointed out, the whole topic of subtleties in mic setup and EFX for various instruments, mixing/mastering in general, studio layout, etc. requires its own material. Check out Bobby Owsinki's books on those topics.
- This is a great book for learning your way around Pro Tools. It's basically a Pro Tools course that you take at your own pace. A bit of patience is required because it's very important that you follow every instruction sequentially and specifically. If you do that, you will have a good grip on PT techniques when you finish.
- As stated, Keane wrote this initially as a guide to get his friends who had purchased Pro Tools rigs up and running. The official Digidesign Pro Tools manual is comprehensive, but not particularly instructional.
Keane provides the answers to all of the obvious "How do I do this?" questions, and throws in savvy engineering and production tips to boot. The addition of actual sessions to practice with is invaluable, since seeing is believing...and learning.
- I love this book, unreservedly and unabashedly. It's entertaining and informative, and covers the concepts recordists like myself need to know, and skips all the junk recordists like myself haven't any use for. It is concise where it needs to be, in-depth where it needs to be, and explains step-by-step how to use the program, hitting the high points while referring one to the manual for the deep, deep, DEEP capabilities of Pro Tools. As one who uses the computer basically like a very capable tape-machine, and as one who has no use for probably 80% of what the program can do, I found this book indispensable; it's sitting next to my Mac, on top of the Digi manual as I type, and I refer to it almost every session for one thing or another. Even if I were into electronic music or into slicing and dicing performances unto "perfection", I'd still have use for this tome, though I think I really love it because it seems geared towards musicians like myself: we're tracking live bands, real instruments, and we're used to using tape machines, and we don't care one whit what depths one can plumb with the program. I want to capture performances quickly and easily, edit out the coughs and chatter, and this book has helped with that immensely. The Digidesign manual is a fine thing, but one problem with the transition from analog to digital is in nomenclature; i.e., if you don't know what a process is called in the world of PT, good luck finding it in the manual. Things that should be easy to figure out and find in the manual, simply put, ain't, and the volume becomes 750 pages of frustration. Enter this book: the information I need is right where I think it oughta be, and the session continues rather than me having to send my band-mates home (again) while I slog through the Digi manual. Thank you, John Keane.

5 comments about Dungeon Master's Guide: Special Edition (Dungeon & Dragons d20 3.5 Fantasy Roleplaying).
- From WotC's description, the Special Editions are "premium black bonded leather". "Bonded leather" is a manmade compound; it is essentially leather fibers plus latex. This is far from the quality of a true leather-bound book (which would use real leather). As one bookbinder puts it: "recommended for use only if the book will be used infrequently."
- loved the book. the leather binding gives it a beautiful touch on one of the Dungeons and dragon most bought book i loved it.
- Very handy when playing. hes some extra things that is why it is version 3.5. the cover is very good and is why it is the special edition.
- Having been a gamer all my life (since 1980) and have coddled and loved and invented different covers for many of my DnD books, this Special Edition just spoke to me. After receiving it as a gift and going through it, it is now my favorite gaming book. Satisfyingly reminds me of all the things I imagine in my game worlds, books of spells, lore and adventure.
- I can't believe I bought this thing for $8.00 (After shipping)!
Still in the plastic wrap, not a single mark, blemish, or scratch.

1 comments about University Physics with Modern Physics: Student Solutions Manual (University Physics).
- I had trouble solving the problems in the text that accompanys this book. I bought this in hopes that it would help me figure out where I went wrong in the solutions of the problems of the book and was disapointed in that it lists very few solutions. I was expecting it to be like my Calculus solution manual which lists all of the odd problems. I do not like that it lists very few problems, but the ones it actually does list helps me understand the material better, they were very thorough and easy to read.

5 comments about Internet Texas Hold'em: Winning Strategies from an Internet Pro.
- Teaches the ins and outs of poker and will help any beginer improve his game. The flop chart is the best asset, follow it and it will help eliminate alot of beginer mistakes. not for advanced readers, but if you are an advanced player Middle limit poker by ciaffane is the best book out i feel for the advanced. This book and the ciafane book are the only two poker books you need if you are beginer or play poker at all. Has turned around my bottom line dramatically
- The book contians standard information, is written somewhat blandly, and doesn't reveal anything the myriad other poker books have already covered.
I do like the cover though.
I went to the bookstore specifically for this book, but was rather dissapointed when I looked through it. So, take my review with a grain of salt, b/c I only spent approximately 20 minutes reading through the various chapters.
- The boom in online poker has brought with it an equal boom in how-to handbooks for internet players. The problem is that they're all pretty useless, for the very simple reason that:
Internet poker = real life poker - tells.
Save for some marginally informative behavior like speed-of-play (and you don't have to be a poker genius to figure those out yourself), decisions in online poker are never based on tells, which actually reduces the complexity of the game and makes internet poker an excellent tool to learn the game: it's one less thing you have to worry about.
Therefore, you really don't need a handbook on internet poker, any good Hold'em strategy guide (like Sklansky's Hold'em Poker and Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players) will teach you all that you need to know.
That said, Matthew Hilger's book is a good guide for beginning players and offers some handy charts on starting hands and probabilities.
If you're just starting out and you've never read a book on Texas Hold'em, you might as well begin with this one, but if you've already studied the game, you'll find nothing new here.
- For those claiming that this is a beginners book, I say you must be quite confused about what constitutes "beginners" material when it comes to the discussion of Limit hold 'em. Also, for those who claimed the book is "boring," why do you buy poker books? To be entertained? NO! You buy them to learn how to win at poker. They are instructional manuals, not bedtime Wilbur Smith novels!
One of the questions that needs to be asked when considering whether a poker book is merely average or exceptional is; "Could I read this book and nothing more and become an excellent, winning poker player?" In this case the answer is a resounding "YES!" Lets just be clear, Hilger is very successful middle to high limit player and this book provides the knowledge to play anywhere from low to middle and high limit games. Almost all of the hand examples in the book are taken from actual hands played at 20/40 or 30/60 games! I personally would go so far as to say that this is a better book for even the middle limit player than either "Hold 'em for advanced players" or "Middle limit hold 'em" which are considered by many to be the two best books for the mid to high limit hold 'em player. (It is my humble opinion that both those books are somewhat overrated. Of course I'm only a low limit player so what do I know? :)) Some might say that is blasphemy but I've read all of them and that's my opinion.
Hilger does a fantastic job explaining the conceptual ideas behind each topic in very basic language, he then provides several very clear hand examples to illustrate the concepts at work coupled with very solid reasoning explaining the logic and thought processes behind each play. Finally, he provides a comprehensive summary at the end of each chapter that really sums up the meat of that chapter. He covers everything one needs to know to play a winning game of hold 'em and does it in simple language that is easy to understand.
This is a great book and is almost as good as what I consider the best book on Limit hold 'em- "Small stakes Hold 'em" by Ed Miller and co. As in the case of SSHE, the only thing missing from this book is a chapter on shorthanded play but hey, you can't have everything right?
Five stars and easily one of the top 5 books on limit hold 'em on the market today.
- I try to pick up something new from each poker book I read. As I am a new student to the game, I have found the starting hand chart found in this book to be extremely helpful. The chart lays out what hands you should play from what positions, and under what conditions (unraised/raised pot).
But beyond this chart I have to agree with Bartman_9 in that internet poker is pretty much live poker without tells. There were a few pages of specific internet related material and internet tips here and there but not much at all. If you want to play serious online poker and you are somewhat of a beginner, then this book would be a good cold call, however don't expect it to impart an online silver bullet. You can't go wrong with this book, 3 stars.
