5 comments about Myst URU: Complete Chronicles (Prima Official Game Strategy Guide).
- It is a little tough to give a complete review for I just started the game. So far the guide has been helpful when I got stuck.
- As a long time explorer in the MYST universe, I am very familiar with its mythos and conventions, and therefore any product which deals with these comes under close examination for validity and usefulness. I am glad to report that as they so often do, PRIMA has gotten it right in their guide to MYST: URU. The guide serves two purposes, firstly to aid you in solving the game's puzzles if (and when) you get stuck, and secondly to enhance the players gaming experience with its artwork, hints and extra information both about the game and its creators, Cyan.
The 'explorers aid' sections are divided between a fast walkthrough, giving the most direct path from beginning to end, and also a more immersive 'narrated' walkthrough giving softer hints for solving the puzzles and helping to creatively visualise the exploration experience. Both are useful, the former if you want only to complete the game and see all its 'puzzle secrets' revealed, and latter if you prefer to truly immerse yourself in discovering the 'artistic secrets' and exploring the ancient cultures and histories created by Cyan. This second portion is written from the point of view of a fictional explorer who has walked the paths of URU before you, and has left journals of their travels. Therefore the solutions to puzzles are revealed gradually, allowing players to read only so far and (hopefully!) solve the rest of each puzzle themselves.
Also included in the guide is a substantial colour section on the origins of Cyan, the MYST series and how URU came to be. If you are interested in how the Miller brothers began this epic saga in the very beginning, or in the various fascinating techniques involved in producing a game like URU, then this section has some amazing personal interviews and historical information about Cyan and its employees which kept me reading until I had finished it; I couldnt put it down! In fact, this was the first part of the guide I read, and I think for many MYST fans, the most interesting.
However, whether you are a diehard fan of the series, or if URU is your first foray into the universe of MYST, PRIMA's guide is an invaluable resource, both for its in-game assistance, and for its mind-expanding art and factual information. Enjoy!
- this was here so much sooner than the quoted time! thanks for such great quality and speedy delivery! i didn't even pay for a rush!
- Great to receive the book in a timely manner.
Regards
Joyce Parratt
- An incredible game. While the online portion of this game has been on- and off-line several times due to technical and non-game-related issues, this offline version is very playable. A series of fascinating worlds that as of this date, five years after its original release, fail to be duplicated even nearly by any other game. While some games will have much more sophisticated-seeming graphics *techniques*, this game is much more sophisticated *artistically*. The puzzles are intelligent and immersive (see my review of Myst 4 and 5), and are engaging enough that you'll want to play it, then give it to your kids to play, and help them play it, it's very viral and intelligent.

5 comments about The Black Art of Xbox Mods.
- This book describes how to do anything and everything you could ever want with an xbox.
It starts of very simple by describing how to open up the xbox and take out the parts. But by the end of the book you will have covered such things as;
-Installing Mod chips on all versions of xbox
-Choosing the right dashboard
-Learning the Xenium OS
-FTP your computer and xbox
-Flashing a bios and installing a dash board
-Customizing your own dashboard
-Replacing the case
-Installing hard drives over 137GB's
-Custom lighting
-Xbox Media Center
These are just a few of the many things that fascinated me about this book. A person who has never seen an xbox before could pick up this book and read it and have a completely pimped out xbox in a week.
It is FULL of very detailed explanations and it has tons of very useful photographs.
I would HIGHLY recommend this for ANY one who is going to open up their xbox.
- book helped me with what i needed to accomplish.
Got the job done and couldnt of done it without it
- This is a great book because has a lot of pictures and is very easy to understand.
- I really like to Thank's for this Amazing book, well done ... this book is a beauty and fully contain a lot of informations about my beloved XBOX System ... and more ... a lot of more .... I want to say for all .... Buy this item and enjoy ! ;-)
- It's an outdated book, but gives you the idea of how to mod your xbox. It focuses on one particular chip that is no longer in production, but you can take the idea and adjust for others. Gives a lot of info on stuff to try and what he did. This is more of a how-to book on using mod chips.

1 comments about NCAA Football 08: Prima Official Game Guide (Ncaa Football).
- NCAA Football 08
This is a fantastic update to the previous version. The programmers have stepped up the clarity and the abilities of the players on the field. I must admit my style from the way I played NCAA 07 is basically a mirror on this new game as was the old one, but the overall presentation of this game is light years ahead of the last year's version.
I will admit that on a day when you just rather skip through the recruiting additions that take a tremendous amount more input I wish what is required was less. But, it must be said that this new game is a big jump from what was contained in NCAA 07.

5 comments about Super Mario 64 Game Secrets: Unauthorized (Secrets of the Games Series.).
- I found the book to be only somewhat helpful. I did not find this book to be very clear on descriptions of the courses and how to find the stars. I felt that "Super Mario 64 : Totally Unauthorized (The Super Mario Game Series)" by Ronald Wartow and Christine Cain to be a much more helpful book.
- The tips are great, but the author doesn't know the names of the courses and some enemies. For the names of courses, check the bottom of the screen or press Start. You can find names of enemies from other video games;I would pick Mario Party 2. For example, "pink bomb guys" are really Bob-ombs.Thanks for reading!

- THIS IS A GOOD BOOK ONLY IF YOU LIKE TO READ A LOT OF BLAH BLAH BLAH. I EXPECTED THIS TO BE A BOOK OF CHEAT CODES OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT, AND IT WAS NOT IN THE LEAST. IF YOU PUT A BOOK IN A LIST OF CHEAT CODE BOOKS, MAKE SURE IT IS JUST THAT. OTHER THAN THAT, IT WILL DO I GUESS, BUT IT IS TOOOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE INFORMATION GIVEN.
- Here, I noticed this was a great guide, but with a few errors here and there. One is that the author doesn't know the names of the courses, even if they are right in the game. He calls them Bomb World, Tower World, Water World, Snow World, Haunted Mansion, Cavern World, Fire World, Desert World, Submarine World, Snowman World, Water Puzzle World, Mushroom World, Green Pipe World, Clockwork World, and Magic Carpet World. Also, I noticed several spelling errors. The thing that annoyed me the most is that I noticed switched pictures. Yes, and there were A LOT!!! For example, the caption for one picture really goes with the other picture. Good, but with these errors. The author should've noticed these switched pictures and sent out a new revised version of the guide.

5 comments about The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time Perfect Guide.
- This Book has got to be the best guide book ever written for a game. It has detailed maps, but they are not so detailed that it gives you a headache or anything. It tells you how to do everything, including how to get Epona the horse. It also doesn't leave gaps like other guide books that tell you about one room, then just skip to the next one, without telling you how to get there. It also feels like the writer is talking to you, and makes it enjoyable to read.
- This is the world's greatest strategy guide! It is so detailed and interesting that you could read it for pleasure (I did). With pictures and step by step instructions, any kid who can read could beat the Ocarina Of Time with it. I am almost thirteen and I've loved it since I was 9.
- Many people say that this guide has too much language, it IS an E rated game but I say who gives a sh*t! HAHAHA! Also it doesn't tell about the best kept secret in the game the sinking fish lure. Go to the fishing pond in lake hylia as an adult ONLY, and search the perimeter of the pond, then go to the small stream in the back (that flows into the pond) and look in the rocks, if it's not there then go to then log in the middle of the pond, it'll be there and you'll know it when you get it. You can cetch the loach which is 36? pounds. The biggest i've caught is 20, with a regular hook the biggest was 19. Thank me later
- I think it's the best srategy guide made for OoT. It tells you EVERYTHING you need to collect in the game (except for the sinking lure). And for those who admire OoT art and love the characters -- it has it all!
- I'm not a kid, I just didn't want to reveal my account. Anyway, this is a very thorough guide and includes everything but the sinking lure, but the author uses the words d**n, cr*p, a**, and p*ssed throughout the book. This may not be a good choice for younger children.

1 comments about Final Fantasy VIII.
- OK, Piggyback Interactive is a company from the UK. They have a really big reputation there. They do a much better job than Prima and Bradygames do, giving you high quality guides with tons of info and crystal clear high-rez screenshots. This guide, is probably one of the greatest Final Fantasy guides ever written. You thought the VERSUS BOOKS FFVII guide was good? Wait until you see this one, it blows the Versus Books FFVII guide out of the water! And that's saying a lot.
The guide is incredibly colorful. Each section giving you a list of all the items, maps and location of all the draw points. Each section is also written with amazing detail! It's almost like the guide is talking to you.
The characters section and items section is also brutally detailed. You'll learn so much about the game it isn't even funny. The bestiary is also more concise and to the point. Honestly, who picked up the Bradygames guide and had to flip back just to learn what all the symbols mean? Much more or less who cared to use the bestiary in the Brady guide? It was so confusing and error riddled that it wasn't worth it. Not here. This bestiary throws less at you. By that I mean, only the basics. Where to find them, weakness and average HP for the basic changing levels (meaning when you draw different spells). Much easier to follow.
Also, it is possible to find all the cards and unearth every secret without giving anything valueable to the plot. This guide is spoiler free. Alongside you'll also uncover all the limit breaks and weapons.
There are a few drawbacks to the guide however.
For one, the Bestiary isn't in alphabetical order. It seems to be done based on when you run into the monster. This can be very annoying if you want quick info on what you can steal, items, weakness, etc. Not a big deal since the enemies level up, but what if you're desperate to know their weakness and you don't have a scan spell?
Also, the abilities and such is equally confusing. These list are also randomized. It comes to the point where it's annoying to find abilities. You'll find all the abilities and such on the list, but you'll spend one hell of a time searching through it all.
Finally, while items are listed in the walkthrough, they're not always called out on the map. I don't think this is a problem (especially if you could utilize the Bradygames guide, which had maps in the back of the book).
The problems are minor, and for that I gave it a five. It's probably the best Final Fantasy Guide out there. Nothing is left uncovered. If you can actually find this guide (via ebay or import from amazon.co.uk), pick it up.
Good job Piggyback!

5 comments about Starcraft Campaign Editor (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- This Book is awesome! I suggest if u don't know much about campaign editing and Use Map setting Triggers THEN BUY THIS BOOK! But if u are someone who can just go into campaign editor and know what you are doing DON'T GET IT b/c u know to much.
- Ive made 10 mission for each species with the help of this book. Before I got this book everyone that played my maps on the internet hated them, now because of that book I dont have a minute to wait . The slots fill so fast. This book is the best!
- ello this book will probaly tell you evey thing you need to know on how to create the best maps for the PC video game STAR CRAFT
- Great book I love it it helped me with the game a lot.
- This book covers the very basics of Starcraft that everyone probably knows. It also covers making maps in great detail which is good. Creating custom troops and vehicles gets kind of tricky. Then there are the LOGIC COMMANDS that you have to create to make things work, if you like to write computer languages you will like this part, otherwise god help you because you won't be able to make your creation work at all. This book has lots and lots of SPACE and is worth $30 MAX

1 comments about Might & Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- What can I say? Everything that was wrong with Might & Magic VII's Strategy Guide has been remedied in this one.
1. Quest Walkthroughs have been separated into Main, Promotion, and Secondary (according to region) sections so you can get to the walkthrough you want with a minimum of page flipping, in contrast to that annoying jumble of quests in each region provided in the previous strategy guide. 2. A serious flaw of the previous strategy guide was the lack of a Skill table. This guide not only provides a Skill table, which is nicely divided into Armor&Weapons, Magic, and Miscellaneous Skills, it even mentions them again in the Region Location tables, resulting in (u guessed it) a minimum of page flipping. 3. The Walkthroughs in the previous guide were written in long winded paragraphs that mentioned too much useless information. When I'm playing a game and get stuck in a quest, I don't want to spend time reading a bunch of paragraphs, I want to find out the exact sequence of steps required to finish the quest, as in: (A) go talk to this guy who is in such and such a place to receive the quest. (B) go do THIS over THERE to THOSE people (C) go back to that guy and collect your reward. Quick and painless just like this guide. 4. In general the guide hasn't forgotten anything. It provides ALL the stats on EVERYTHING: Spells, Items, Ores, Maps, Travel Schedules, Monsters, etc. The Maps are clearer, and the tips provided are very useful and great time savers. Could this guide have been better? Maybe, anything is possible. Still, I couldn't find a single thing to complian about, and thats something.

3 comments about Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Official Strategy Guide.
- I admit, I am one of those people who is always buying the guides for games. I get easily frustrated when I can't figure something out, so if I can't beat a mission on the first or second try, I cheat or use a guide to help. I was having issues with some of the missions while I was playing the Frozen Throne campaign and I finally got the guide. I only use it for the chapter-by-chapter walkthrough of the campaign for assistance during the particularly rough missions. It was incredibly useful, very detailed - everything I expected from a strategy guide. It had all the information I wanted, plus a heck of a lot more - but it was easy to navigate through and find exactly the mission I was having trouble with and find the solution to my problem. I highly recommend this guide!
- The Strategy Guide helps you out on the Campagin. Nothing more, but what you learn there you may bring over to Multiplayer or battles later on after the campagin, note that there are many patches created after this book.
