5 comments about Animal Crossing (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- I dont know if this is the animal crossing guide i have or not. But the one i have is full of useful information on this game, that's fun to just look at.. even if you have the game if you ask me.
- Animal Crossing is a real world type game.It has great graphics and is not violent. It has a lot of stuff you would do when you move out of your parents house like bills house ware and of course geting letters from your mom! By:Andrew Fink
- This guide is a great tool for Animal Crossing fans to find out what pieces they are missing from their sets, and when activities happen (in general) and items can be found. Beware, however, if you are looking for a guide that will tell you every detail of your game. Due to the nature of Animal Crossing, no guide can give you a complete list of what to expect. The guide includes a calendar of the events for 2003, so if you're playing the game at the current date and time these events will not be accurate. This guide can tell you what to expect, but can't tell you exactly when and where it will happen in your Animal Crossing town. The only way to do that is to play your game every day ;) The layout of the guide makes it easy to catalog what you have collected and see what you are still missing, but looking up items takes a bit of page turning. There are nearly complete item lists, and approximate timetables for catching fish and insects. Overall, this guide is a great resource for collecting, but it can't replace the months/years of gameplay necessary to 'complete' the game and do all there is to do in your town.
- Since this item is no longer in stock it would be nice if you would delete it from the listing. I have been looking for this title for a long time and was very disappointed to find that it is sold out.
- If you play Animal Crossing a lot then you have to have this because there is so much to the game. There are some problems but it still is handy and can help a lot. That said you still will have to get some info on the internet. Is there such a thing as a casual AC player? I don't think so.

5 comments about Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- The back says "In-depth walkthroughs of every quest", but a quick examination reveals that they don't even include information on where to find a couple of the class promotion quests, which are very important. Also, they've organized everything around the regions instead of around the quests, which makes it difficult to find the info you want without accidentally seeing stuff about quests that happen in the same region, but much later in the game.
It's an OK book, and does cover the things that are likely to have you stuck, but the MM6 book was superior in many ways.
- This book spends a lot of pages on non-important data, as introduction of every monster and weapon and numerous useful or useless items. However, the most important part, the DETAIL MAP OF EVERY REGION and CAREFULLY ORGANIZED WALKTHROUGH are very, very disappointing. Especially the survey map of every region, it's so slipshod! It uses only one hint to indicate a lot of regions and many houses, so a player get nothing and he MUST continuously play his trial-and-error game to find a special house. The survey maps are so small that you recognize almost nothing. Besides, how can a player use fast key? how to learn magic more fastly? How does a player know this item will be useful, or totally useless so he can sell it out immediately? These are the most crucial points a player wants to know in a RPG game. And although you can find the answer in this book ,but it takes a long time to find where these informations are! . I am for a long time a M&M fan, but I must say that I feel very disappointed at this book.
- The Maps are to small and poorly organized
- I'd give it first-worst but frankly it does not deserve first-anything. It IS essential, if only because the manual is so deficient, but that's the best I can say. I've spent almost as much time searching through the guide as I have playing the game. Surely Prima can do better than this.
- I would have never gotten as far as I did without this guide. Very detailed and easy to read. Gives you just about every bit of information you could possibly imagine on the game. Reccomend for anyone who is having trouble or that just wants to move a little quicker.

2 comments about Game Design Perspectives (with CD-ROM) (Advances in Computer Graphics and Game Development Series).
- This is a nice book with some technical issues that could be better but still a nice book to have for any one interested or that has a career in game design. you should read this book and understand at least a nice outline of how to design a game. you should'nt buy this if you are just starting and have no clue how to design games it is a nice book to try for starters even though there is a chance they will not know what it is talking about.
- This is a very good read, and offers a lot of good information for the budding game designer. There are lots of issues to ponder and the book certainly manages to raise some good ones. My only complaints about the book are the lack of strong examples for some key concepts (naming specific games, and perhaps detailing how said game illustrates the concept would be nice) and the fact that it is rather focused on the RPG and Adventure genres. For that reason I would highly recommend it to designers interested in those genres, but would caution those who are not interested in designing RPG/Adventure games.

2 comments about Return to Krondor: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- Of all of the strategy guides I have read, Prima's Offical Strategy Guide for Return To Krondor is the least helpful strategy guide I have ever read. The walkthrough covers a SMALL portion of the book and is vague in a lot of areas. I found quite a few stuff that was not in the walkthrough at all. For example it doesn't tell you what the code for the tomb in chapter 9 is (Feist; code letters found on one of the statues in the same chapter). Another thing it doesn't cover is what tools to use to disarm the traps; they make you guess yourself. The list for the tools to use to disarm each trap can be found on the net. The strategy guide is good in telling you what ingredients to use to make potions (in case you want to do an experimentation if you don't have a recipe for the potion you want to make). Some strategies it suggests, I have found much better ones. And there aren't any good maps in there; only a vague map for chapter 5. I wish Sierra would make hint books again instead of having Prima doing the hintbooks for them.
- If you have read the other review then I will echo it. The book is very narrow with details. There are no maps and the pictures that could act as maps are very dark are not helpful. the book gives you one way to do something but there are many better ways. It tells you exactly what you need to do and that is it, you can run around alot and find many more items and events. It could give you better advice like don't collect money it isn't a big issue, I had over 60,000 when the game ended! The first game had many side quests whereas this one has only 2! The caracter view is very limited and is very hard to see what is going on at times. The first game had a much better hint guide, but then again it was written by serria not prima!

1 comments about Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories - Official Strategy Guide for PlayStation Portable (Bradygames).
- As I almost passed all the story-line missions, I looked at my stats and realized that I only completed 43% of the game. I realized that there were some rampages and races that I didn't complete, but I still knew that I missed a lot of game here! I bought this guide and it made me realized that there are side missions out there that I didn't even knew existed like "Avenging Angels" or "See the Sight Before Your Flight" side missions.
This is a huge 225-page guide full of stats, maps and pictures that give you how-to-walkthrough of every mission. There is also a vehicle "showroom" section that shows you every single vehicle in the game, including vehicle's speed and handling score. The same is done for weapons sections.
This guide includes every nook and crany; however, if you are an expert, you may not need a lot of stuff that is in there. For example, it tells you what exactly going one during wanted levels(1-star is where one cop chases you...and 6-star is where the military takes over, etc.) If you're an expert, you may not need that information, but its still nice to know its there, as this guide is for a GTA expert and GTA newbie alike.
Also, I did find some misc. errors in the guide. On a map where the parked vehicles are shown, it states that Deimos SP is parked on the Cedar Grove highway, when in fact, its Phobos VT that is parked there. I'm sure there are a few minor errors here and there, but its hard to penalize the overall score based on that because the positives heavily outweight the negaives.
The final 50 pages of the guide are a MUST for anyone who wants to beat the game 100%. It gives you details of all the side missions, as well as, a full-page map, which shows you where every rampage and hidden package is located. Also, shows you where every weapon and police bribe is located as well as payphones where you have contacts calling you for street races.
Bottom Line: There are websites out there which will tell you how to beat the game, so you may not want to buy this game for walkthrough alone. However, if you want to 100% complete this game, this is a must, especially it being a $10 bargain.

5 comments about Imminent Crisis (Mechwarrior) (Mechwarrior, 6).
- First let me say, I thought this was a very good book. I think it would have been better placed under the Battletech line of novels, as it encompassed a long time frame and had many different characters. The Mechwarrior series previous to this, focused around one primary character in each book. The "primary" character, Grayson Addison, appears at the beginning and at the end. The rest of the book deals with Duke Hasek, his long time friend/sudden wife, Victor ally Ardan Sortek, Steiner marshalls, etc., etc.
Still, good book, good read.
- When it comes to the issue of taking sides in a civil war that has engulfed the entire Federated Commonwealth, Grayson Addison is an undecided man. For a while he and his Eighth Syrtis Fusiliers remain neutral in the bloody conflict. All of this changes however, when troops under the command of Archon-Princess Katherine Steiner-Davion invade his home planet of New Syrtis. Grayson is forced to take action. He can no longer sit on the sidelines and watch the war unfold because now it has come to him.
This book is fairly well written but the constant jumping from place to place and character to character sometimes confused me. However, the author provides good details and the plot was exciting making "Imminent Crisis" a worthwhile book to read. The news casts at the beginning of each chapter were also a nice touch. Those interested in the Mech Warrior series should definitely read this book.
- The current series of Battletech novels centering on the Fedcom civil war has been uninspired at best. This book doesn't depart from that trend. The story is about a faction, the capellan march lead by Duke George Hasek, which has been for the most part neutral in the civil war. The story is fairly good, but many points, primarily the military sequences make no sense.
First, the planet in the story is garrisoned by four full regiments. The units assigned to assault the planet consist of three regiments, one of which has suffered severe attrition in another campaign. In contrast to this setup, the defending units are consistently outnumbered and destroyed in all phases of the campaign. The story seems to suggest the attempted assassination of their leader has thrown the defenders into confusion and demoralization. The problem with that theory is that the invasion was expected throughout the beginning of the book, appears to have been planned for, and nowhere does the author suggest his characters are military idiots. Second, he has made his characters far too emotionally unstable. One of the leaders of the defending faction, a female general, bcomes emotionally disabled because of the assasination attempt on the Duke. How does an allegedly experienced military leader fall to pieces in the middle of an invasion, plus the author expects us to sympathize with the general while she loses a war. Another experienced military leader, a lieutenant colonel, becomes emotionally disabled to the point of blacking out in the middle of a battle, because of a battle that destroys a memorial to a beloved leader and, the fact, he is involved in fighting fellow countrymen. How does the author suppose such emotionally fragile people rise to lead military units in a war torn universe? Well, I might have been a bit rough, but otherwise the book was pretty good.
- WHEN a leader of a large fraction of people in the Fed comm openly defies Katrina to keep peace Katrina sends troops to despose of him. Now he has to enter the war to keep peace in his relm. This is a very good book it kept me reading. I rely like the part when katrina tries to buy some mercs. But anyone whos anyone will like this book
- i'll agree with most people who know anything about battletech that the turn to the fedcom civil war has been slightly disappointing. writing about the tactics and nit-picking in each battle was all well and good in the beginning of the series; but now that there is a decided end to the storyline with plans to jump ahead, i think a fallacy in the fedcom series is that they aren't spending enough time on ideas, concepts, and the ending of storylines. there are far too many unanswered questions, and with battletech books getting shorter and shorter, battle sequences (while well written) seem to be excess filler.
the small hole that i'd like to point in this book is that, while minor in the grand scheme it still annoyed the hell out of me and i think that anyone who read "grave covenant" will agree, is george hasek married w/children or single? cuz i seem to remember george hasek jr. having a snowball fight with david lear in "grave covenant". anyone else? and didn't the locket that andrew redburn recovered from morgan's daishi in "the hunters" have a picture of his grandson? just a little something. the book is pretty good when seen in context with the last several books but is no "blood legacy" or "malicious intent"

5 comments about Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- The book is very infomative and well illustrated, the only draw back is that the optional missions should of been included in thier own chapter, instead of strewed throughout the book. And a longer list of possible creations with weapons, armor and stones should have been provided.
- this strategy guide is great for those who are a bit video game challenged, like me. the best thing in it, as is in all stategy guides, are the maps. very helpful in gettin around places, and for findin treasure. the coolest part is when you're able to unlock the famous r.a. salvatore charachter, drizzt do'urden. he's soo awesome to play!!!
- The book that I ordered was in new condetion, and I received it
very quickly. I am very pleased with mt purchase
- This guide is essential to figuring out the best way to play a character the first time through. Without it, you will need to play the game and waste level-up points on worthless skills and attributes. The maps are not all that necessary, but they can save you a little time from backtracking. If you like making magical weapons and armor, this guide can be a great help.
- I am writing this because I am now playing the game, and this strategy guide did not have what the cover claims it has. The cover says, "Maps Revealing Every Secret Area." But I am in Act III, and Skull Gorge has an Orc Cave with a secret area that is not in the guide. To learn how to access that area, I had to refer to a walkthrough posted at gamefaqs.com.
Nevertheless I am giving this book 4 stars. This is because I do not recommend playing the game without a guide. You could follow the one at gamefaqs, but Prima's is much more colorful and you can have it right by your side without having to print out anything.
Why do you need a guide? If you're a beginner, playing a Forgotten Realms roleplaying game for the first time, you can easily get into trouble by trying to develop a character without help. Even if you're experienced, you might want to feel confident that you can get through the game without becoming angry and frustrated. Having a good walkthrough at your side gives you that confidence.
Prima's guide has many glossy illustrations and easy-to-read maps. So far for me, its most helpful features are the character guides and the Workshop section. The latter has been essential. The game itself fails to give me details that I want for making good magical items.

3 comments about Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- This is an awesome guide for anyone who has Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2. I got this book when I was stuck at a certain level and it helped me beat the level. This book has info on all enemies, all the secret exits, all the dragon coins, and info on how to beat every boss. It also has very detailed walkthroughs. This is a must-have book for anyone who owns this game!!!
- I have the original 1991 walkthrough, on Console Xpress, a British magazine, for the SNES, which has detailed maps, the maps are extremely useful for anticipating obstacles, jumps and enemies, other then that, this updated guide is very good.
- Super Mario World-one of the bect games for GBA, but quite large.
This book-helps you find every exit, beat evey boss, and finish the game!

- I don't know if it's Prima or what but this book is good to a certain extent. I say that because it has your basic stragties and tips but for some of the more valuable areas or secerts you'll get frustrated. Like the tomb before you fight Baraka, you do everything the book says then something is suppose to happen in order for you to continue to that area but nothing happens. Whats that all about!?!?! Anyway you could go all the way back you came, but that gets annoying because you have to find you way back. I think Prima needs to be more in-depth with their material.

5 comments about Mechwarrior: Dark Age #19: Blood Avatar(A BattleTech Novel) (Mechwarrior).
- This book was a little Angels and Demons, a little CSI, and a little Heat of the Night. It's kind of a departure from the norm in the series in that there are some deeper adult themes, and a lot more swearing etc. This book is not for the under 18 crowd. I am a diehard Battletech fan and this is one of the best books I have read in the series in a long time! Despite the lack of mechs, it was a real page turner. As a warning note, you really need to have a LOT of background in Battletech and Mechwarrior to REALLY get the full effect of the ending. All in all nicely done by the author, who from what I understand got flamed on the internet for not putting any mechs into the storyline. For all her detractors, I think this story just proves once and for all that the Battletech universe is rich enough to stand on it's own without the massive tinplated lizzies running around! Ahh but I do love those mechs!
- This book, and Ilsa Bick, are both extremely underrated in the BT/MW universe. The problems most people state are 1) overly complicated plot, 2) extreme violence, and 3) for this book only, no mech combat. I agree the plot is a bit convoluted and the violence is shockingly graphic, which I like since it IS a murder story and the violence keeps it from feeling childish.
I have a feeling that this book will be extremely relevant to the overall story of the MW universe, though we will probably have to wait another year or so to see the connection. I see this whole book as one giant example of foreshadowing. It should give the true BT fan goosebumps. You know there has to be some connection you aren't seeing to some deeper, shadowed mystery.
How is it as a detective novel? I couldn't stop reading it, right up until I was done. What more do you want?
- This book is set in the Mechwarrior Dark Age universe, but it has none of the mech battles that I love, its more of a spy novel that happens to take place in the stated background.
- A decent whodunnit novel. I would say 3.5 stars, but I'll round up today. As another reviewer wrote, "I'm surprised I enjoyed this novel." It was written fairly well and the suspenseful story really did pull me in. I still don't get how the detectives came to some of their conclusions, but what can you do? Strangely enough, the only thing I DIDN'T enjoy about the novel was how it was tied into the Mechwarrior universe. I think it would've been much better (and really wouldn't have required many changes, to be honest) as a stand-alone novel. On a side note, I found the sporadic and inconsistent use of profanity rather odd. I have no problem with profanity, but I don't see why the author chose to drop the F-bomb in one sentence, then have the same character use a silly euphemism (like "frack") the next. Oh well.
- My biggest complaint about this book is one teensy-weensy little flaw that the writer obviously overlooked when she wrote it: It's a MECHWARRIOR book! This book is basically a murder thriller (it isn't even a mystery because of the fact that too much is revealed too early). There isn't a SINGLE `Mech or vehicle action sequence in the entire thing. They only mention `Mechs about 4 times throughout the entire book. I read MechWarrior books because I, well, want to read about MechWarriors blowing the crap out of each other. If I WANTED any old murder book, I'd have bought one instead.
They try to incorporate the Clans, the Blakists, and Delvin Stone in the book, but fail miserably. It's about a murder in a small town, and out of nowhere, "BLAKISTS AND CLANS OMG!" It does little to further the plot of the series than to stay that Blakists are still out there and are somehow involved with the Clans and Delvin Stone. Oops. I guess I just saved you the trouble of reading this to figure that out.
As for profanity, I've read worse. The profanity isn't terribly bad. They say the S word a couple dozen times, utter the D word a handful, and also drop the F bomb about a dozen times. But what really got me was how many times the Lord's name is used in vain. They say "God" in vain about a hundred times (and I'm not exaggerating). They match that number with the number of uses of "Jesus Christ". And even THAT wouldn't have been so bad, but they decided that each time it had to be used, it had to be used at least three times or more! Example: Instead of simply saying "Oh my God," they decide that wasn't good enough. So instead, they make it: "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God! Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ! Jesus f***ing Christ! S***!" And that is NO exaggeration.
The description of gore isn't too bad. I've read far worse before.
Sexuality is a recurring theme throughout the book. There's a prostitute in it, and a few mentioned sexual acts, and attempted rape. But the worst part is how much they TALK about it. Specifically, one of the cops, every time he's mentioned... that's almost all it's about: "Screwing" women.
There are a few grammar mistakes in the book. But it's not TOO noticeable. At least, not like some of the OTHER books in the series that had about a dozen spelling and grammar mistakes PER PAGE.
All in all, don't waste your time with this book. MechWarrior fans: You WILL BE DISAPPOINTED! If you're like me and read MechWarrior for the same reason I do, then trust me... read "Sword of Sedition" if you haven't already. That one is EXACTLY what a MechWarrior book should be: LOTS and LOTS of `Mech brawling. But if you want a murder book, then look no further. But personally, I think something called "MechWarrior" SHOULD BE ABOUT MECHWARRIORS!
