3 comments about Street Fighter Alpha 3 Official Strategy Guide.
- I'm starting to think that Capcom just pulls Mega Man and Street Fighter games out of nowhere whenever they get bored and run out of original ideas. I bought the guide to this game so that I could keep up to date with the Street Fighter series. Well, there were other reasons too... Anyway, this turned out to be a great book, and it fully explains the whole confusing X-ism, Y-ism, A-ism thing. Plus, it gives a lot of information about the characters' backgrounds. I had to dock the book one star because--since it gives full move lists and paragraph-long biographies for 32 characters--it cut back on a lot of things that the past Alpha Official Strategy Guides had. Examples include endings and damage percentages for each attack.
- I bought this book because i had the game.I wanted to see all the fighter's moves.I was mistaken it didn't have any of them, all it gave me was a summary of the fighter's life.It was not worth my hard earned money
- I love Street Fighter and all things Street Fighter but this book was the pits! This is my 3rd Street Fighter guide (I owned the guide for SF2; Turbo and SSF2: The New Challengers) and its the LEAST informative.
The 2 previos SF guides had a complete moves list (as this guide does) but has extra stuff (this guided does not). The detail of my former SF guides was impressive as they showed you pics for every punch, kick, throw etc for every character. It also included REAL combos, strategies for fighting others and tips on the game engine. The SFA3 guide bearly scratched the surface of anything.
The guide can be summarised as follows (1) Character bio, (2) Character moves list (3) 3 or 4 sample character combos (some of which DON'T actually work, trust me just look at them!) (4) Character moves list translation (to whom it applies). THATS IT!!
Unless you like to collect this stuff like me I recommend that you AVOID this guide!! There are moves lists in the game for petes sake and the character bios are lame if accurate at all.
I gave it 2 stars cause it had nice colour pics (as SMALL as they are). That leads me to another point, the pages have ALOT of dead space. With all that dead space they could have made the pics bigger.
Bad guide, BAD!!

3 comments about 007: Nightfire (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- The only reason I bought this is because I bought the game with this which gave me 20% off on the guide. Only buy this if you get lost easy, can't follow instructions, have both console and pc versions, and you get a discount on it. The details on where to go are not really descriptive because the game is so simple. It points out the obvious and in some parts it doesn't even tell you where to go next. The guide is extremely short, also. Yes, it does look like a solid book but only half of it is on the console version of the game. The other half of the book is on the pc version. You'll be done with the book before you know it.
- This book was very informative and I probably wouldn't have beat the game without it. Of course, it left out some major parts that I had to figure it out by myself. But overall, it was really cool!!
- This book is a necessity to succesfully find one's way through the game scenes.
I got stuck at the cocktail party, unable to take photographs of the women - because the vague instruction booklet that comes with the game isn't that helpful and I had no clue that I actually had a cigarette lighter camera on hand to use... or how to use it, if I had known.

2 comments about X-COM Terror from the Deep: The Official Strategy Guide (Secrets of the Game Series,).
- One of the best game guides I have ever read, this book greatly enhances the Terror from the Deep experience. Rather than being a step-by-step guide that you must follow like a robot without understanding _why_(something that would be almost impossible anyway, due to the nature of the game), this guide provides the detailed information you need to make your _own_ decisions. Statistics on literally everything in the game, along with detailed explanations of how crucial game aspects like movement, combat, and finances _really_ work, make this one a keeper.
- David Ellis' second time out writing a X-Com strategy guide brings some mixed results this time around.
The Bad: Around half of the guide is a simply re-print of the manual, with a few added details. Although good, many other sections of the guide were simply too short and did not go into enough depth (who ever heard of devoting only 1 chapter to the tactical part of an X-Com game?). The Good: Aside from the manual re-print, the entire quality of the material was very very high. Combat tips are right on the mark, and information is presented in an easy to find/read way. The tables are placed in the chapters they relate to, not some "Tables and Reference information" chapter at the end of the guide. It is a very easy to use companion to the game, not diving into meaningless details (for the most part) but not skimming important subjects (for the most part) either. Bottom line: Mostly Excellent quality, just not enough of it.

5 comments about Alone In The Dark: The New Nightmare: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- This is one of the many strategy guides by Prima and it definitely lives up to its name. Alone in the dark the new nightmare blows resident evil out of the water with its amazing fast-paced graphics and intruiging detailed and "pull you in" story line. With Prima's official strategy at your side you are ready for anything. As you take control of Edward Carnby or Aline Cedrac, you are faced by the minions of evil and the horrors that lie in the shadows. This guide has all the necessary tools for your survival in the mansion overtaken by evil on Shadow Island: -walkthroughs for BOTH characters. -complete character, monster, and item stats. -great training tips for enhanced playing. -exposed secrets, item locations and puzzle solutions. - and as an added bonus, it has the history of the Alone in the Dark series and behind-the-scenes look at the making of the game. Prima's guide sums up the term of excellence all game guides should have. This guide appeals to gamers of all ages, its extensive walkthroughs help each character unfold their destiny, and with all the exposed secrets and items, it will have you playing and guessing at every corner....NOT! With the revealing walkthrough you will know what is coming around every corner...but it'll still be scary trust me...the graphics make this game in a league of its own NOTHING yet so far can compare with this game, and with the strategy guide at your side as your extensive info companion, you'll be almost unstoppable...unless mom accidentally unplugs the playstation while plugging in the vaccuum...hope you saved! That's another good point...SAVE A LOT!!! and mark the page where you are in the guide...just incase it closes by accident...or was it Obed Morton??? Just kidding...this game will give you nightmares, well it makes sense since that's the title of the game..."its what you fear..." anyway I'm getting off the subject, (I'm playing the game right now, writing this review, AND looking at the strategt guide) well there you have it...get the game...then arm yourself with the power of knowledge with Prima's official strategy guide-"Alone in the Dark: the new nightmare."
- If I didn't get this book, I would probably still be stuck in the office trying to figure out how to get that darn projector to work! Thankfully, Prima came to the rescue! It's a good book that gives away ALL the secrets, so if you want to keep on guessing this book is for you! The grreat thing about it is that it gives you a lot more background info on characters and plot. The bad thing is that it is a little confusing as to the organization of the info...and their is a lot of information to organize! Overall a good strategy guide and worth it if you feel like giving up!
- You must buy this book if you want to finish the games. Both solutions to-the-finish are here for the Edward Carnby mission and the Aline Cedrac mission. All the secrets are here. You might even find some of your own. Item locations and what you need to get and what you need to do next is all here. There are over 1,110 photos of both games to help you get through each scene step by step. The skill and determination is up to you. It is possible to complete both missions. I highly recommend the book and buying a Playstation red, emerald or blue memory card for your Playstation PS One. You will get through Alone In The Dark: The New Nightmare game alot quicker. The book is helpful for all systems you play the game on.
- I picked this up at a game store for an insanely cheap price a few weeks ago. I don't get why it's going for over fifty bucks here at the Used & New section...I'll gladly sell mine to anyone who wants it and doesn't want to get ripped off.
Anyway, as a veteran of the AitD series I didn't think that the fourth one would be all that hard. The first two games were pretty easy (but still awesome) and could be completed in less than 40 minutes each. The third installment took much longer, and I even needed a guide for it to make sure I was doing everything right. But The New Nightmare just plain kicked my ass. Resident Evil and Silent Hill didn't scare me one bit (I think they try too hard), but AitD4 definately did. I could only play for 15 minutes at a time. Running around looking for an item I missed, not knowing if the hallways would have zombies or not messed with my head. That was back in the summer of 2002. Just a few weeks ago I finally found the guide and bought it without hesitation. Now I had the courage to take on that damn mansion and its creatures. This guide isn't "unorganized" as others have put it. I found it easy to follow along with. There may be an extra box or two on each page just to explain a little more about the monsters you encounter, so I don't get how that could throw anyone off. It gives you great strategies for not wasting precious ammo, and quick ways to do away with some of the peskier creatures. Both Carnby and Aline's sections are thorough and help perfectly. I doubt I could've went through the game without this guide. Go for it if you find it laying around somewhere, or just email me if you'd like it. Unlike the sissy and linear Resident Evil series, AitD4 has challenge, and requires you to use logic to take on some of the puzzles. Oh, and this seems to only cover the PlayStation version, but the PC and Dreamcast ones are the exact same, only have much better graphics. So this works with all variations of AitD4.
- I totally got ripped off buying it here. I don't know much about game guides but I bought this book because I was desperate to get past a certain monster (in the beginning of the game no less!!!). Without it I never would have known that I had missed picking up the triple barrel shot gun that I needed to dispatch the nasty litle booger!!! I looked at the price and knowing it was rediculous I purchased it anyway. I've seen this book for $50 so I figured maybe they were rare or out of print. I paid for expidited shipping and it still took 10 days to get to me and the worst part was that it arrived with a $7.99 price tag on it under the $29.99 one!!! That just pissed me off! Other than that little rant the guide is great and I highly reccomend buying it. Check your local Game Crazy store if you have one near you before shelling out the big bucks!!!

1 comments about Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness : Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- Namco is the king of the classic games like Pacman who would want to see Ms. Pacman on Nintendo 64 and buy a guide?? She got her 3-D 64 game before Pacman [Mr.] But the truth is that Ms. Pacman Maze Madness is a brand new puzzle/exploration style game. There are 12 areas spread over 4 worlds and many secrets to unlock. You're still going to munch more than 200 pellets per stage but experience is so different. There's a deep plot and the difficulty is only intermediate making the guide pretty useless. Don't sweat it since you can STILL play the classic **Ms.** Pacman. Not that the bow will makes much of a difference, there's a build to this style of game. The exploration may not be deep or engrossing, but besides who wants to use a guide to completely spoil all the secrets??

- This is my first review so I hope I do a good job and I am the first person to write a review for this game. Now for the review. This is a good good strategy guide and it helped me a lot. It tells you about your opponents card and gives you good information about them. It also has a list of all the monsters and information about them including the card passwords. In that section I found a few mistakes like by the information for the Red-Eyes Black Dragon it shows a picture of Red Medicine, and by Red Medicine it shows the picture of the Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon, and finally by the information on the Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon it shows the picture of the Red-Eyes Blac Dragon. I can list more but then I would bor you to death and write over the limit. At the very end of the book it lists every pack, how to get them and what cards come in the packs.
This is a very helpful and good book.

- I have SDD, and I have only looked at this. From what i saw, it is a waste of money. You can get them just as good online, and if you really need the passwords, get them online, again. If you took the time to buy SDD, which is a great game, you can probably either just play through or you can look at one of the online strategy guides, which are just as good. My word is don't buy unless you really think you should. I do admit this has some good points, but you can find it in other places.

1 comments about Onimusha(TM) 2: Samurai's Destiny Official Strategy Guide.
- If you're like me, then you like Dan Birlew and the BradyGAMES Signature Series guides. These guides are very in-depth and after the Devil May Cry guide got this off to a great start, the Onimusha 2 guide keeps it going. I'll give you tons of reason why this is the best Strategy Guide (in my opinion) then any other Onimusha guide out there.
First of all, like any guide (or hopefully any guide), there is the walkthrough. This walkthrough is very in-depth with ultra detailed maps that pin-point every item! The walkthough is precise and quite possibly one of the most in-depth organized walkthrough from BradyGAMES to date. The author does a great job explaining the strategies, and talks about the better approach for Offensive and defensive battle tatics against bosses. The game basics section is for me especially. If you don't feel you get enough explanation on attacks etc. from the instruction booklet (like me) then the game basics section does a great job on explaining just how to get critical hits, when is best to attack and when its best to just haul you butt out of there. There is also a list included for trading items. The only gripe I have with this list (and the guide) is that this trading list isn't in alphabetical order, meaning you'll be reading up and down the list just to find if the item is worth trading to another. But they do explain how to trade and tell you what you'll get too! The alliances to form are listed in the back of the book in a flowchart. This shows you just what path to take! But it also explains just how you should form alliances as well. They tell you what the benefits are as well. The secrets and sidequests and telling you how to use each character (combos and everything are explained). The side quest are brillantly outlined and easy to use. They tell you who gets what too. The secrets also explain a lot about the different difficulty levels and the Man in Black mini game. Lastly, the guide completely covers the Oni mini game with a tear out wall scroll to go along with it. This is a great guide and if you're going to get Onimusha 2 then you should definitely get this book! On the Positive side: +Great Maps! +Great Strategies! +Crystal Clear screens with helpful captions +Hey! Its Signature series +Tricks of Trade revealed +Side Quests explained +Both mini-games explained +Game Basics actually help you learn the game better then the manual. +Interview with Keiji Inafune! But on the downside -The trading items list is out of order -Some boss strategies are a little too focused on defense

5 comments about Enter the Matrix Official Strategy Guide.
- This game guide helps. Alot! Great to have because of the time line it comes with that teels the history and events of the Matrix which
includes the Anime. Also it gives a walkthrough on how to hack into the game using the hacking system, which will unlock alot of secrets. So go out and get cuz it's the best guide out there.
- This strategy guide is a necessity for anyone with the game. The walkthrough might be helpful to some, although you can usually figure things out on your own. The best parts of the guide are the extensive sections on Hacking, as well as the storyboards and the spiffy timeline. Even if you're not into walkthroughs you should get the guide for all of the extras in it. This guide will definitely take you deeper down the rabbit hole...
- Brady Games has done it again. Their Enter The Matrix Official Strategy Guide has got it all. It's broken down into The Construct (game play, weapons, vehicles, etc.); Characters (Ghost, Niobe, and the others they interact with); Hacking (into the game console); Jacked In (complete walkthroughs for both Ghost and Niobe); Glitches In The Matrix (unlock multiplayer, find 4 mini-games, etc.); and Behind The Game (interviews and concept art). The 190+ page book even comes with a double sided poster (Matrix Code Rain and a Matrix Universe Timeline). Also hidden inside are over 50 codes for you to find and decipher. Are you red or blue on this?
- I Just wish Prima had put out a Guide for Enter the Matrix, Brady Games' guides are offen confusing and of sub-standard quality. This one isn't that bad, it has all the basic info and even insights in to the hacking System. But here's were it goes bad:
* The Pre-Walktrhough Chapter has no more info that the Manual * The Walkthroughs lack maps, and sometimes that's all you need. * Numerous Typos in the Encoded messages make decoding them in the Hacking a nightmare. * The Dificluty estimates are way off. * They forgot to show you how to make the HoverCraft MOVE! * Enter the Matrix is one of those games were the path is pretty clear and in MOST(not all) cases you don't even need the Strategy guide. * On the Plus side, even with the typos, it makes the Hacking System MUCH easier to figure out. My Advice? Don't order it here, go to a store and flip through it a bit to see if it's what your looking for, and make your own decision.
- Yes! I love this guide! Let me give you a few reasons.
1.It comes with a big pimp poster!
2.It's got pimp pictures!
3.I like the cover.
Yay!

4 comments about Dynasty Warriors 5 (Prima Official Game Guide).
- This is the first review I have ever written on amazon but I was really disappointed with this guide. I know it was also the first guide ever published for the Dynasty Warriors series and hopefully they will learn from the mistakes. Missing were specific locations of +10 and +20 items such as life and musou. They are not just random appearances and I was able to find them everytime in certain clay pots when I broke them. I found mistakes in the list of campaigns in musou mode for several characters and the info on how to get the fourth level weapon was not always correct. I also would have liked having markers on the map where the fourth weapon appears as a "valuable item" instead of having to scroll through the battle log in the game to find it. Also the maps for each campaign in general were very generic and did not add much to the understanding of where certain events occur in the game. When I played previous Dynasty Warriors games, I would check the free postings on different game sites and found them to be more descriptive then this guide.
- Very Very helpful indeed because i live in england an Dynasty Warriors Guides Don't Come out here it beats having to download it from the internet. The only downfall was a few spelling mistakes an it could of been more descriptive on how to unlock the items and weapons
- Dynasty Warriors 5 has the biggest amount of characters ever in a Dynasty Warriors game. This is also a great game because each character has their own personalized story line. The graphics in this game are awesome. I would give this game a 4 out of 5 possible stars.
- To correct the reviewer down below: Dynasty Warriors 2 had an official strategy guide from Prima, and clearly they didn't learn from some of it's faults. Although this one is not in black and white, it does have a few problems like... the fact that what the guide spends so much time on is something that youw ouldn't buy the guide for. It's almost like buying a guide to Super Smash Brothers Melee. Why?
However, there are some moments when a guide to Dynasty Warriors 5 can be helpful. Things like finding the "Valueable Items" were particularly helpful, but at the same time a blur. The maps in the guide don't point out where to find the valueable item in question and force you to constantly look back to the mission log. If that's the case then GameFAQs works just as well as this guide. It tells, but doesn't accurately show.
The maps aren't that helpful either. They don't tell you where to find those nifty life ups and musou ups (some generals drop them, but they're also found in pots). They claim they are random, but if you play through the game constantly, you'll see that a pot with a Life Up +10 will always have a life up +10.
Another note about the maps, is that they're not detailed. It looks like someone paused the game, and took a picture of the map they saw on screen and then passed it off as a detailed map. They don't point things out.
Some info is also wrong. There are typos in the items list, and the description of how to get some "Valueable Items" is not always correct, nor is it always detailed.
It's almost as if Prima knew there wasn't much of a use for a Dynasty Warriors guide. What it IS useful to have it for though, they did include, however it isn't done very well. Screenshots were blurry; information misleading.
It wasn't a horrible guide, though. But the biggest question is, why spend so much money on a guide like this? There is no real "strategy" to beating any mission.
What I'm saying is, you're not honestly going to buy this guide because you're having trouble getting to the enemy general are you? That's not the reason one would buy a Dynasty Warriors Guide. We'd most likely by it because we want to know where all those fourth weapons are, and how to get the secret items.
The problem is, Dynasty Warriors is very prominent online. You can find a lot more than just text in walkthroughs online. You can find detailed maps that DO pin-point out everything, and you can find more in depth descriptions on where to find fourth weapons.
The guide itself isn't bad, but it is a moment where it really is a lot easier to just go online. I'm not usually up for faqs found online because they miss that visual aid, but you don't need visual aids in Dynasty Warriors. The guide being priced at the standard fifteen dollars is high way robbery just to buy it for getting the special items, unlocking characters and stages, and the fourth weapons. Likewise, you won't have trouble in actually completing a mission. They're all pretty straight forward. So you shouldn't need this guide for that.
It's almost not a bad idea to invest in one, and I probably wouldn't have bought mine if it weren't ninety-nine cents at a used game store. But the reality is that it IS a waste. It helps in finding some of these things, but GameFAQs is so much more... you know... indepth and user friendly about it.
If you are determined to invest in this guide, then please, do like I did; find it at a very cheap price, and don't spent fifteen dollars on it.
