- This step-by-step guide to the video game is very helpful. Before going to the next level or area in this creepy game, the book shows you what to expect and it helps you on your way. Although I still got stuck on a few levels just because I was getting killed by monsters, etc., the book let me know what to expect. I honestly don't think I would have finished the game without it.
- I'm rating this Item because i'm a fanatic of the game. Pesonaly I don't believe in stradegy guides, and I never held this book in my hand before. Beat the game on your own, resist the temptation of achievemnt with aid from a book. This game is worth your intellect. Don't mess with fate. Write your own logs for system shock.

3 comments about EverQuest Box Set (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- this is a very good collection of 4 books which help explain and understand EQ a little better. Covers from the orig.EQ-> SoL...sorry no coverage of LoY or LDoN. but the main thing in this collection is the Spell Book guide. It has most of the spells for all of the classes, no second guessing if you have all the spells you will need to become a powerful char. I highly recommend this collection of EQ guide books.
- This boxed collection of miniature Everquest strategy guides is a sketchy purchase, even at Amazon's discounted prices.
Consisting of four small paperback volumes, Prima's set is not much better than the included manual in the latest "Everquest Evolutions" retail software box. For example, even though there are two separate books dedicated to the expansions "Shadows of Luclin" and "Ruins of Kunark", much of the information is exactly the same, making you wonder why they bothered killing the trees to make them distict tomes in the first place. Worse, the information in the two expansion-specific books provide little or no insight into the various hunting zones, history, lore, quests, items, spells, and quirks of each. You will be able to obtain far more detailed and useful information from free Internet sites like EQAtlas.com, crgaming.com, and Allakhazam.com than you will reading the entire Prima series of "strategy guides". In fact, the guides even admit this glaring deficiency in the prefaces. Providing a disclaimer that the guides do not provide spoilers is admirable in terms of disclosure, but it also begs the question: why bother at all? Here is my final assessment of this product. Pros: Newbies who lost their original game manuals may find something of value here The spellbook is a nice reference, though there are always new spells and stat changes being done to the game Cons: The price No quest spoilers Few maps of "hunting" (adventuring) zones, dungeons, or anywhere dangerous--maps that are provided show no NPC detail Little insight into gameplay strategies for each of the various classes, no new tips on how to adventure as a group or how to solo--basically, there's little reason to call these "strategy guides". The Kunark guide is especially worthless with more emphasis on fan fiction-style anecdotes than on the game itself
Summary: While it's nice to have a hard copy of spell lists and a few zone maps, the Prima books are a bad investment overall. At best, they are merely very high level guides to the game as a whole, and not very good ones at that. There is really no reason to purchase this product unless you lost your original manuals and don't feel like printing reams of data off of the Internet. However, the Internet is clearly the best avenue for players who want to improve their game. No recommendation
- I agree with the previous reviewer. This guide was a help to this newbie but essentially boils down to "Where's the Beef?" The spell listing was nice and the guide cleared up a few questions I had about how to get some things done but as a "strategy" guide it left me cold.

3 comments about Breath of Fire IV: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- I've bought this strategy guide in the same day i bought the game , this guide features all special attacks, spells, skills, and all the powerful dragons to do battle for you , and you'll get the locations of all treasures , armors ,and weapons. If you are a big fan of this game (Just like me) don't miss this strategy guide you'll finish this game in no time.
- If you've been a huge fan of the B.O.F. series (as I have) , you'll notice that this strategy guide is a bit less incomplete than the Breath of Fire 3 strategy guide. There was alot of information to gather from the guide, it's a great strategy for the game. If you've bought the game, or are planning to buy it. Then tag this strategy guide along. Even if it is only a gift. Any video game lover will just love this strategy guide. It involves maps , secrets, hints ,spells, monsteraries, and so much more. Ever wanted to make the perfect faerie town? This strategy guide will tell you how to. Have you wondered where you can find and gather ALL of the Ryu's dragons? Right here is where you'll find out how.
Just sit back and watch the guide be pulled out in those "tough to figure out" situations. Enjoy !
- This strategy guide covers all thebases for Breath of Fire 4. It willhelp to defeat enemies, find treasure, etc. Overall, if you needhelp, buy this book.

2 comments about Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (Prima Official Game Guide).
- I used Prima's guide for Ghost Recon: Island Thunder and found it an invaluable resource in getting through the tough spots of that game. So naturally when I picked up Advanced Warfighter for Xbox, I got the Prima guide too.
What a disappointment. There is absolutely no useful information contained in this book to help you get through the game. None. How the authors manage to ramble on and on for dozens of pages with dozens of pretty screen shots and tell you nothing useful is beyond me.
Of course, I can only speak confidently of my experience with the Xbox portions of this guide. Maybe if you have an Xbox 360, that portion of the guide actually is helpful (that wouldn't surprise me). My recommendation for Xbox players is to enjoy GRAW (it's awesome) but don't bother with the guide. Xbox 360 players, judge for yourselves.
- gave me the edge to beat the game but could have had a lot more info.

4 comments about Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel: Sybex Official Strategies & Secrets.
- This book has many tables and lists of all the statistics in the Fallout Tactics universe. It also gives information on comabat, charactors (and charactor building), missions, enemies, perks, skills, MULTIPLAYER, and tips on how to win your way to victory. It was easy to understand, the good thing was that it didn't tell exactly what to do. This left the game open, not a complete walkthrough (you know, do this, do that... no fun!). The book really helps make the Fallout expirience ten times better. Buy this book and make the most out of your game.
- I really was put down when I realized how different tactics would be compared to the origional Fallout 1 and 2; it had excellent graphics and a good storyline, and the new and improved items were great. I can't forget the multiplayer and map creators that are readily available, but if you are interested in buying tactics for the sheer RPG value of it,then don't even bother. Go for Deus Ex or Baldurs Gate.
In terms of a standalone game, without comparing it to the others, Fallout Tactics is still an amazing game, and certainly worth getting.
- I sincerely hope no one would be crazy enough to buy the strategy guide at four times the price of the game. It is a good game, but you can figure out most of the stuff that is in the guide for yourself.
- As a kid I always enjoyed reading the strategy guides to my favorite console games, like the Final Fantasy series. Usually these strategy guides had all the information on the actual gameplay/items/locations, plus added touches like 'bonus features' or 'secrets' and even tidbits of information about the game that owners might find interesting. The pages were in color and you could almost read the guides like a good magazine or even a book.
Not so with this guide. As soon as I got this guide in the mail, I realized I would be disappointed. The quality of the printing is low; small pages, black & white print on normal computer printer paper. There are no pictures of items & the descriptions of them are extremely brief and not really useful. The book covers the missions themselves in a brief fashion (a couple pages per mission) with a general outline of the objectives & strategies, with a couple fuzzy screenshots mixed in.
Nowhere is there specific vendor information, ANY information on random encounters or special encounters (which the book bluntly lies about on the back cover by claiming it does have this information), or a tips/tricks section -- of which there are plenty to discover in Fallout Tactics.
All in all this is a mediocre book and you really shouldn't buy this unless you are some kind of avid 'Fallout' merchandise collector. You are better off going online to look at a F.A.Q. or Walkthrough on the game; this book is cheaply made and only covers the most basic essentials of playing through the game.

4 comments about Shogun : Total War : Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- Shogun: Total War is the best strategy game to be released this year so far. However, its biggest weakness is the poor manual that comes with the game. The Prima strategy guide however contains all of the info you need (unit stats, strategies, etc.) and it's a hefty 240 pages. It's unfortunate that the game didn't come with this guide but at least it exists.
- While Shogun attempts to firmly encapsulate its subject within a context of japan, it strives to do so through tride and true methods, which, while effective, are unoriginal. It could have been so much more if it had attempted to experiment more with its presentation.
- Is this book a must? That depends. I've played the game rather successfully without the Guide. But there are some tips which will help you out. Most of the information about the clans, units and buildings comes straight from the game itself. However, it is nice to have a hard copy of that information, as well as a complete map of all the provinces. For the few tips I did learn, the book was worth the price.
- This is probably the most necessary strategy guide I have ever purchased. The manual that comes with the game is almost useless. I got more information from the quick reference card. This guide doesn't tell you what to do to win the game like some do; rather, it provides you with the necessary information to play the game effectively without hours upon hours of experimentation and "Oh, so that's how that works."
