5 comments about BattleBots(R): The Official Guide.
  1. If you or someone you know likes BattleBots, Robotica, or Robot Wars, this is a great book. It has tons of high quality still and action photos. It also has great descriptions and pictures of famous bots and bio's of their builders. Find out how much your favorite BattleBot cost or how long it took to build! The book also has basic instructions on how to build a bot plus simple examples of different design types. It also has the Win-Loss record plus stats (like # of Knock-outs) for every bot. This book has something for everyone. It has enough "meat" to it that die-hard fans will love it and the photos and stats will keep even young kids engaged.

  2. Great book! The history and the personalities behind Battlebots are really interesting. The machines are given the level of attention you always wanted to get on the show. Great looking too. Put it on you coffee table; guests will actually pick it up (and spend half an hour with it!).

  3. This glossy coffee table book is packed with photos, robot CAD drawings and a thorough history of the BattleBots competition. The abundant photos, in depth builder and robot profiles and stylized design caputres the real spirit of BattleBots. I love the chapter on "How to Build a Bot"- the step by step tutorial and comparison of materials provides solid advice to newbie builders like me. It is the best book on robotic combat I have ever seen. A must for all robot enthusiasts.

  4. Fun book, lots of great pix, and a spread on my favorite robot: Dr. Inferno, Jr. What's not to love?

  5. I've really been enjoying this book, ten minutes at a time. It explains the rules (I'm not sure I had realized there were any)behind the action, and includes capsule looks at number of bots I've seen locked in the box. The author talks about the costs of some bots, the time involved in designing them, and the number of upgrades they've gone through. I suggest this book for any fan of the TV show or the sport.

  1. Very good.

    Delivered on time.

  2. the book is for all formats of the game ps2, xbox, pc, etc.. I bought the book becuase I got stuck and thought I missed some upgrades after resating the game again realized that this prince is nowhere as good as "sands of time" and "warrior within" it is a software glitch sometimes I was being attacked by swords with no villians or the game would lock up the Prima guides are not as good as the Bradygame books

5 comments about Diablo (PlayStation) : Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
  1. There is absolutely no need for a strategy guide for Diablo! Diablo is a hack and slash game, go around, beat up monsters until you are strong enough to beat up bigger monsters, rinse and repeat.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with hack and slash games, especially not Diablo or DII, they are my favorite games, but my little brother can beat Diablo without help from a strategy guide, and he was 8 when he did that.

  2. This book allows you to look things up as you play. You don't have to put to memory what certain weapons are used for.

  3. The Prima Strategy Lie, as it's know amongst the popular Diablo community, is riddled with technical and strategic inaccuracies and tonnes of misleading information. Do NOT waste your money on this guide.

  4. Yes, the book is useful. It is not fantastic, beautifully written, crucial to success, or even 100% accurate. This book, with all of its typos, feels as though it has not been proofread more than once. Some of its tables have incorrect values or are poorly organized.

    But it is useful.

The book is accurate about 90% of the time, and the quests are well outlined - though I certainly don't believe the quests are difficult enough to require this guide. The primary use of the game is in its tables (when they are accurate), and in their explanations of the actual mechanics behind the game (such as how the game chooses which quests are included in a particular single-player game).

Though all of the information in this guide can be found with a moderate amount of replay, this guide makes it available immediately. I would not use it as a strategy guide, I would use it as a quick reference to keep open while you are hunting for something in particular.

To be fair, I don't believe Diablo requires a strategy guide at all. The game is fairly straight-forward, with none of the mind-boggling complexity of some real RPGs (i.e. Final Fantasy).

  5. This is a good stat guide but an average strategy guide. Most of the information in this guide can be found in a FREE internet guide/FAQ. Aside from some tips on the Butcher, King Leoric & The Final Battle... everything is common sence. The book also has a handfull of obvious typos & misprints. This had become a pattern with pattern with Prima. On the plus side, it is easy 2 understand, most of the stat tables are in tact & it has an interview with the game creaters to geek out on.

  1. This guide contains maps and where to get all platnum bolts and nanotech boost which is REALLY helpful! It tells you info on weapons and when you should use them and how to get through stuff and answers to electrolizer and infiltrator puzzles to thats also really helpful. It also tells you how to get all the skill points and tips on getting them. A really great guide but a bit confuseing at times un-fourinetly

  2. get this game it rules when you are playing dont buy any guns
save up for the ryno2 on planet barlow its only avalebl in the gagditron place

  3. this game is asom! its twice as long as rachet and clank 1 and you are supposed to play this game twice!

  4. Many people may disagree with me on this, but this game just isn't very fun. THe graphics are wonderful, and when you play the first few missions, you feel as though this is one of the greatest games ever. Then that feeling comes to a screeching halt when you buy your first armor. If it weren't for the friggin' armor in this game, I definately would have given this a five. From one point on, you have to continuously buy armor in order to make it through a certain few levels, because if you don't you're screwed. The last armor is a million bolts. A MILLION BOLTS. To raise that grit I had to beat one level ten times, and seeing as how the level was huge, that got extremely boring. In order to raise money for this without doing what I did, you would have to spend nearly nothing throughout the game, which is hard seeing as how it is necessary to spend up to 10,000 bolts in order to gain one little bit of info from some cheap citizen. I am a big Jak and Daxter fan, and I'm used to big environments where you can choose how to approach the situation. Not so in this game. There is one and only one way to get to a certain point, and the environment just goes in one big circle. However if you were a fan of the first R&C and you can't help but waste more money on crap like this, go ahead. I won't stop you.

  5. i no this isnt that helpful but this is jus one of those games that make gaming reach a new level and thats it. and 4 that kid before me u dont have 2 buy all the armors i beat it the first time wit the 2nd armor and bought the rest in the chalange mode. so.......

  1. Hi there, i have been looking for this strategy guide book from parkway parade to tampiness mall to bedok interchange and i just can't find it. Can somebody please tell me where i can get this book? I can't get it through the internet cos i dun have a credit card, can anyone tell me where can i get this book in Singapore. Thanks

  2. Yeah, its a best book for this game. But the writer hasn`t finish the game twice. Coz` I want to know if something happen if you finish the NIGHTMARE chapter. Well, what can I say I haven`t finish that chapter too.

  3. This guide is very helpful, giving clear and detailed maps, lists of items, weapons, armor, etc. It was extremely informative and easy to follow. Some people complain that the guide doesn't tell you how to beat the final two bosses, but I didn't mind. I guess even writers of a strategy guide don't want to spoil ALL the fun. The only problem I had is that the section that talks about replay, bounty, scavenger, and nightmare mode seems a bit rushed. Overall, though, it's worth the $$

  4. This book gives all the information about the game and who all the charachters, weapons and villians are. It has an introductory section so that you know who the charachters are and what they mean. It also has a detailed section on the weapons that you can use. It then gives details on each one of the villians (NMC's) and the best weapons against each of them. It also explains how to use the parasite energy's and what you have to attain to upgrade each one. The last section of the book is a walk through, play by play, on getting through each section of the game. Some of this is a bit sketchy but it is enough information should you get stuck in a section of the game. The author recommends that you not use the play by play section unless you are really "stuck" because it will take the mystery and excitement out of the game. I have used it several times, especially when having to decode riddles. It is an excellent resource if you are the kind of person who gets really frustrated when "stuck" at certain sections of a video game. There are many different pathways to get to the ending of the game which I don't think I would have even realized had I not used the guide. I recommend it, especially if you are new to this kind of game or if you are not familiar with the first Parasite Eve or other Brady games. (Which I was not, so I think that may be another reason why this guide was so helpful and informative.)

  5. Well, its hard to rate a good guide these days. I liked it. It helped me get through the game and gave me some good strategies. It was a bit thin and I thought some parts could have used some better hints, but all and all, a good book to help you out.

5 comments about Resident Evil Code: Veronica (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
  1. Okay, so you just bought the remake of Resident Evil and are looking foward to kicking some zombies' rotting butts. Only one problem: where the heck do you go to get farther into the game? Well, this strategy guide should tell ya...If you're playing as Jill. The people who wrote this startegy guide should be ashamed. They forgot that it's a multiple character game. They show you what to do as if you were playing as Jill. Instead of writing two seperate strategies they just tride to slide some of Chris' here and there. If you want to get through the game as Chris, definately DO NOT buy this strategy guide, go with the other one by Brady Games.

  2. Whatever this guide is missing I can guarantee BradyGAMES has got it, and whatever this guide has good of Bradygames don't got.

To start the guide is a fairly good lentgh. But it would've been nice to have a seperate walkthrough of Chris as you have to find it out as you read. The items list and such is great! The strategies for defeating enemies are great and they actually tell you how to CONSERVE your ammo unlike the BradyGAMES guide.

The walkthrough however can be very confusing at times, but how much is packed onto one page is incredible. Some of the screens are in the wrong place (but they are EXTREMELY good at explaining what to do you don't need any screens really). But as I mentioned earlier the guide completely leaves out chris. But the maps are beautiful. The guide is so detailed and precise. The sealed secrets sectio is also impressive. But the fact that it spoils the ending made this guide lose a star, but I didn't have to heat to hold it against them since it was in the SEALED SECRETS section.

Puzzle solutions are also brilliant, and they have great suggestions on what to do with certain items. The guide is better than I thought it would be as I was disappointed with some of the others, but the guide is by far the better pick out of the two.

    OVERALL:
    Positive
    +AMAZING MAPS
    +VERY GOOD PUZZLE SOLUTIONS
+Actually tells you the difference between game modes
    +Very in depth on secrets
    +Good weapon strategies
+Is mor focused on conserving ammo
+Tells you how to get all six different endings!

    Negative
-Where the hell is Chris? Small call outs to his game but not good enough
-A little bit disorganized but still readable
    -Spoils the endings

  3. This is not the only Prima guide I have. Prima has the best format. I have Prima guides for all the Resident Evils and various other games. I've tried others that are good, but Prima makes the best.

If you have a choice between Prima or another brand, choose Prima.

(Sorry for sounding like a commercial.)

  4. This guide is real good it walks you through the game, but still doesnt spoil it

  5. Prima makes the best strategy guides around. No one will match their perfection when it comes to detail. This guide is no different. The guide has a good set-up and gives you information on how to unlock all the games secrets. Maps are provided for all the areas as you go through the guide. There is a cool Wesker Report in the back that explains the Resident Evil series up to Code Veronica. This guide also explains details for defeating the Battle Mode.

One thing I hate in some guides is the lack of maps. This guide gives you a map on the same page as the information. Instead of flipping through pages to find out if you are going the right direction, this guide gives you a map for every single piece of gameplay. If you enter an area forty times, you will see the map forty times to prevent looking back in the guide for it.

This guide is very well formatted. Anyone with Resident Evil: Code Veronica X should pick this one up for an easy walkthrough. If you are looking for maps, secrets, or help with battle mode, it is all in here.

3 comments about X-COM UFO Defense: The Official Strategy Guide (Prima's Secrets of the Games).
  1. I was a little thrown off by the author's admission that he never really sat down to play the game until he was offered the chance to write this book. (This was before he became the lead man for the X-Com series) My initial thought was that it should have been written by someone who had played and loved the game since the beginning. That aside, he did a decent job.

However, having played the game for several years before reading this book, I found that I had difficulties in locating the information I wanted. Some of the tables and charts that seem like they should be grouped together are spread out - thus making me hunt for them.

As for the content of the book itself, it has *nearly* everything you could ask for. The small amount of expert advice in the back may or may not be useful but it is the only strategy tips available, and I noticed a few errors thoughout the book (nothing major, however). At times I find that a lot of pages go by before some useful information turns up. Too much talk about what the game is doing and not enough strategy tips for my tastes. I don't think the book needs to be as thick as it is.

Bottom line: The info is in there. Sifting the proverbial wheat out of the chaff is another thing altogether.

  2. Great Stratigic guide for those who can't realize that you must stay close to cover etc.

  3. Very helpful for those who have never finished this game. I still haven't but some day when I retire...
