5 comments about The Sims 2: University (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
  1. I have been playing the Sims for sometime now and decided to get a guide for it. Having read the reviews and owning all the major expansion packs I decided to go for this one mainly because of the two for one deal. I have been amazed the amount of information it has been able to give me even though I have been playing for so long. The tips on personalities and careers etc I have found useful. I have really been able to maximize the game play. In the past I have always been doubtful whether guides were worth there money or was just a gimmick. But having now got the Sims University guide I would recommend it (but only if you don't have the first one). I am now considering buying others and discovering what other treats I have been missing.

  2. As other reviewers have noted, this guide does contain a complete reprint of the original game guide. However, having owned the original guide, there is one MAJOR difference. The University Guide has an INDEX. So if you share my frustration of constantly flipping through guides searching for a topic, this is definitely worth the money. The game is time-consuming enough without having to spend time searching through the guides. So even if you don't own the University Expansion Pack, I recommend purchasing this item if only to make the original guide easier to use and the information more accessible.

  3. There are things in the game that you just can't figure out on your own. This book will show you everything.

  4. This was my 1st expansion pack that I bought to use w/Sims2 & it is a good look at what going to college is like, especially if you've never been the kind of person who never stayed on campus. This game shows all the kinds of ways for you sim to meet new people & socialize. The different places where you can do study or reasearch. This was my 1st choice when I looked at all the other expansion packs. I read what the other recommendations said & based my decision on that.

  5. The only reason I didn't give this guide 5 stars is because the table of contents isn't set up very well. But it has tons of information to make a happy Sim or wreck havoc on the town!

5 comments about Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots -- Limited Edition Collector's Guide: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides).
  1. This Collector's Edition version of the official MGS4 game guide is fantastic!

    First of all, if you're not interested in the additional features of the Collector's Edition, then save yourself the money and get the standard edition Metal Gear Solid 4: Prima Official Game Guide instead. It's significantly cheaper, and is exactly the same with the following exceptions:

    - The Collector's Edition is hardcover.
    - Collector's Edition includes an additional chapter detailing some of the great Metal Gear artwork.
    - Collector's Edition includes a numbered lithograph by Yoji Shinkawa.

    Either product will be worth the money to anyone that wants to get the most out of the game. I purchased this guide after I had completed the game once already, and I'd recommend this to anyone interested in the guide. Don't use the guide on your first time through, or it may inadvertently ruin some of the surprises and fun bits that pop up throughout.

    The thought that the maps are too hard to read, as mentioned in another review, seems ridiculous to me. The maps have been of great help when determining shortest routes, or finding items that you may need. Granted, it may sometimes take a minute of staring at the map to determine your current position, but I don't think they could have done much better than they did.

    You will get a TON of advice every step of the way. It will tell you the best way to get through the each map normally, as well as how that strategy must change if you're trying a no-kill playthrough. It will also give you adjustments that you may need to make based on the difficulty setting that you're playing on.

    The guide includes a listing of every weapon in the game, along with a description, how to attain it, and its characteristics. There is a similar listing for items available in the game. There's a full listing of available Face Camo and how to attain them, and another for iPod tunes.

    There's a full listing of available emblems that you can earn upon completion of the game. There are also strategies on how to get as many of these emblems as possible in the shortest number of playthroughs.

    And of course, one of my favorite parts of the guide, is the summary of the entire MGS story, from beginning to end.

    Overall, the guide is fantastic. If you don't care about the 3 differences stated above, then I'd recommend the standard edition guide. Either way, you're getting a LOT of guide for your money, and you're getting a LOT of extra value out of your game purchase as well. For example, I doubt that I would have played through this game more than 2 or 3 times without the guide. But with all the information presented in the guide, I'm currently finishing up my 6th run, and I already have plans for my 7th.

  2. As a fan of Metal Gear since it's debut 20 some years ago, I have to say I have never seen a guide this impressive and detailed for a MGS game, and I have them all. This is THE guide guys and gals to purchase with your copy of the PS3 Exclusive Epic, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

    The hardcover guide covers literally every nook and cranny of MGS4; wether it be the single-player story, Metal Gear Online, Full Inventory List of weapons and items you can acquire, Secrets (Unlockables, Play-through Emblems, hidden goodies in-game), a bonus AMAZING Litho from Yoji Shinkawa (Godfather of Metal Gear's distinct art style) and a written intro by Mr. Hideo Kojima himself.

    Trust me fellow MGS fans, with this guide you will be like Solid Snake himself...Legendary.

    You can't go wrong with it. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

    aka > talonkard044 on PSN

  3. This is really a top-notch strategy/game guide that really stands out above all other game guides I have seen in all aspects but especially content, production quality, and value. It truly is a step above the rest and I highly suggest it if you are into game guides.

  4. If you have enjoyed previous Metal Gear games and are ready for the finest of them all, Solid 4 is it. This Limited Edition collection guide is awesome. I tried to play it thru the 1st time without the guide but broke down and used it at the end. This guide is a MUST HAVE!

  5. Very in-depth guide. Shares all the secrets with you. Definitely only use it on your second play through, wouldn't want to ruin the surprise!

5 comments about Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (PS2) Official Strategy Guide (Official Strategy Guides (Bradygames)) (Official Strategy Guides (Bradygames)).
  1. I bought this book two days ago and I think that they did'nt even change the guide from the PSP. All the screenshots are on the PSP. Many of the Jumps, Pampages, and missions are wrong. DON'T BUY.

  2. As always Brady Games introduce a fansy guide for Grand Theft series. It shows all missions,weapons,items,..... ALL WHAT YOU NEED TO GET 100%

  3. Annoyingly inaccurate for most of the side missions. Completely missing some information. It was however helpful for some of the story missions.

  4. As usual having any decent guide for a Grand Theft Auto title is more than useful and this guide still has some very helpful maps and guides to the various items and activities found in Vice City Stories. The most glaring issue is that this is a copy of the PSP version guide - it even has the multiplayer elements left in it and doesn't cover the PS2 specific elements in any detail (or at all). Helpful, but a lazy effort from Brady unfortunately.

    ** UPDATE **
    BradyGames posted an update to their site with the missing information and error corrections (though it's not a complete list). See the end of this review for that updated information. You should still feel free to use the "Comments" feature to make this the official list of errors, as there are probably errors that BradyGames and myself may have missed.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The BradyGames Grand Theft Auto PlayStation 2 guides have had errors in the past. For example, the Grand Theft Auto 3 guide is missing information on some of the side jobs and non-mission tasks; the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas guide has incorrect screen shots and information on the Photo Ops. However, this guide is the absolute worst I have ever seen. It seems that the only difference between the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PlayStation 2 (PS2) versions of the guide is the text at the bottom of the front cover and the controls listed on pages 3 and 4.
    The BIGGEST ERROR is that the PS2 exclusive content is not in the guide at all. These include 6 extra Unique Stunt Jumps, 5 extra Rampages (and 1 moved), and 6 extra Side Missions. The list is below, but for details see the PS2 Exclusive Content Guide (gamefaqs-DOT-com/console/ps2/file/938211/47835).
    * Unique Stunt Jump 1 - Little Havana
    * Unique Stunt Jump 2 - Starfish Island
    * Unique Stunt Jump 3 - Vice Point
    * Unique Stunt Jump 4 - Vice Point
    * Unique Stunt Jump 5 - Vice Port
    * Unique Stunt Jump 6 - Vice Port
    * Rampage 1 - Little Havana
    * Rampage 2 - Starfish Island
    * Rampage 3 - Downtown
    * Rampage 4 - Prawn Island
    * Rampage 5 - Vice Point
    * Rampage 6 - Ocean Beach
    * Side Mission - Playground On The Dock
    * Side Mission - Rush!
    * Side Mission - Hyman Memorial O.D.T.
    * Side Mission - Caddy Daddy
    * Side Mission - Playground At The Park
    * Side Mission - Crims On Water Wings
    The SECOND BIGGEST ERROR is that the guide lists tons of Multiplayer content that doesn't exist in the PS2 version. Details about this are included in the list of errors I found below.
    The THIRD BIGGEST ERROR would relate to incorrect mission-related information. I have not found much of it because I have just started playing the game, but I know that there are a lot of errors in there (all of which were undoubtedly in the PSP guide too). Some of the reviewers over here at Amazon have made mention of a few things (though I'm sure that there are many more errors).
    Here's the list of errors I've personally found, though again, this should not be seen as a complete list of errors:
    PAGE 1 - Table of Contents - The listing of "Multiplayer Scenarios" on page 30 (feature non-existent in PS2 version).
    PAGE 5 - The "Custom Tracks" section (feature non-existent in PS2 version).
    PAGE 5 - The "Saving Progress" section mentions saving to a Memory Stick and the Custom Tracks feature, both of which only apply to the PSP version.
    PAGE 25 - The VCPD Wintergreen name is on two lines instead of one. (This is just a cosmetic error and not a PSP/PS2 difference, but I thought I'd note it anyway.)
    PAGES 30-33 - All of these Multiplayer Missions are NOT in the PS2 version. Heck, the first paragraph even mentions PSP and UMD.
    PAGE 37 - The "Story Mode Missions" section mentions Multiplayer content (feature non-existent in PS2 version).
    PAGE 37 - Mentions 30 Unique Stunt Jumps and 30 Rampages - there are 36 Jumps and 35 Rampages in the PS2 version.
    PAGE 37 - The Multiplayer Unlockables: Vehicles section (feature non-existent in PS2 version).
    PAGES 38-40 - All of the information on these pages is for Multiplayer Missions which is NOT in the PS2 version.
    PAGE 41 - The Multiplayer "100% Game Completion Characters" column/section.
    PAGE 44 - The barber shop Red Balloon doesn't seem to be on the map. It should be a bit north of #20 listed on the map.
    PAGES 48-51, 157-158 - Only lists 30 Unique Stunt Jumps, while the PS2 version has 36.
    PAGES 52-56, 159-162 - Only lists 30 Rampages, while the PS2 version has 35 (and one was moved).
    PAGE 62 - The Hovercraft side mission says that it is available at the beginning of the game. This is false. The craft isn't there at the beginning of the game and probably doesn't appear until after the bridges open up (otherwise you could just use it to get to the second island early).
    PAGE 240 (LAST PAGE) - The "Printing Code" section says "For example, 06-1 shows that the first printing of the book occurred in 2007." It should say "07-1".
    BACK COVER - An interesting cosmetic error is that the sample pages shown as 14 and 15 are really 84 and 85 with some slight design changes.
    On several pages throughout the guide it says to press UP when in the PS2 version
    it would be R3:
    * PAGE 15 - The Ambulance description.
    * PAGE 16 - The Cabbie description.
    * PAGE 18 - The FBI Rancher, FBI Washington, and Fire Truck descriptions.
    * PAGE 19 - The Hunter description.
    * PAGE 21 - The Rhino description.
    * PAGE 24 - The Taxi, VCPD Cheetah, VCPD Cruiser, and VCPD Enforcer descriptions.
    * PAGE 25 - The VCPD Wintergreen description.
    * PAGE 57 - The Taxi Driver "Details" section.
    * PAGE 58 - The Paramedic "Details" section.
    * PAGE 59 - The Vigilante "Details" section.
    * PAGE 60 - The Fire Fighter "Details" section.
    * PAGE 110 - The "Cancelling Empire Missions" section.
    * PAGE 127 - The "Air Speed" section.
    * PAGE 163 - The Air Rescue "Details" section.
    Before I wrote this review, I wanted to give BradyGames the chance to do the right thing: recall the first printing, release a new correctly-written version, and offer replacements for all those folks who bought the vastly-erroneous first printing. In other words, wanted them to make a *REAL* PS2 version of the guide and give me a copy in exchange for the absolutely almost-useless "PlayStation 2" guide I bought that they currently have on the market (which they should recall and destroy - or rebrand as "for PlayStation Portable").
    Sadly, BradyGames not only chose NOT to do the right thing, they chose to simply ignore my e-mails altogether. Instead of boring you with the details, I tried for a month to get a hold of someone on the BradyGames staff via e-mail and phone. I found many of the personal staff addresses, but received no replies from any one of 21 staff members. Going the phone route was useless as I could not find their direct line - just customer service call centers for other departments of their parent company Penguin Putnam.
    Based upon the lack of response from BradyGames, it is obvious that they don't care about the products they release or their customers. Since the faulty product in question bears the Rockstar Games name, and is about one of their games, I thought that maybe they could help. After all, I certainly hoped that Rockstar would care more about their related products and have more respect for their customers than BradyGames does.
    So on May 18, 2007 I sent a message to Rockstar Games (usa-AT-rockstarsupport-DOT-com) telling them of the situation. The next day I received a reply from James Brett which said, "Thank you the e-mail to ourselves here at rockstar support but we are only a technical support team and will not be able to help you on this matter unfortunately." Okay, that's understandable. I sent a reply asking who I can contact at Rockstar that *would* be able to help me. Obviously that would be someone in the main or corporate offices, and surely they have e-mail addresses. If the support department can't help me, then I'd like for them to point me in the right direction. I have yet to receive another reply, and I doubt that I will.
    At this point, there's really nothing else I could do except to warn people of the massive and major flaws found in the PlayStation 2 version of the Vice City Stories guide and advise them not to buy it. If BradyGames doesn't want to listen to me, maybe they'll listen to the poor sales.
    ** UPDATE FROM BRADYGAMES**
    Over two months after the book has been released, BradyGames finally posted some updates on their site with the missing information and error corrections. Of course, this is only a "patch" for the problem, and not a solution. They should recall all copies of the First Printing, add this new information and corrections, and offer revised copies (Second Printing?) free-of-charge to all of the people who bought the error-ridden First Printing. It isn't nice to make the customers download and print out several pages of new information and make hand-written corrections.
    Here is the information from the BradyGames site:
    [in the addresses below remove the spaces, replace DOT with . and remove the dashes inbetween p-d-f]
  1. I have to say say than when I get stuck this helps me out a lot. Thanks Bradygames.
  2. I'll be honest with you. This book is designed really well. It is one of two BradyGames books right now in the "Signature" series -- strategy guides that feature higher-quality paper, very well-designed walkthroughs, and an extra like a poster. Unlike other guides, you don't get lost in all the small text trying to figure out where you were reading when you last looked up from the book. The strategy actually goes guard-by-guard, so you can use it if you're stuck trying to get past a specific guard, or you can use it to walk you through the whole game.
    The reason I gave this guide four out of five stars is because it really only contains the minimum information you need to complete the game. Sure, there are blurbs about secrets and stuff, but I just didn't get the feeling that this was a book chock full of "insider's info" on MGS2.
  3. I was almost finished with Metal Gear Solid 2 when I stopped playing for almost a year. When I went to play again, I realized that I didn't remember the story that well and I didn't remember the layout of the area I was in. I decided to restart the game, but this time use a guide to make sure that I don't miss any items and to quickly get through the areas I had already played. Since this was the only guide available, I picked it up.
    Some reviews of this guide make mention that the guide is not actually needed to complete the game and that simply playing the game is all the strategy that one needs. That may very well be, but I don't think that applies in reviewing the guide. What matters is that the guide has all of the necessary information required to complete the game and not miss any items and that it includes tips on how to beat the bosses. This guide has all of that and is very valuable in completing the game. While many things can be discovered by trial and errors, this guide will get you through the game with no trouble (the only trouble may come in actually applying the strategies to beat a boss). The most valuable aspect of this guide comes in that it details on a map the patrol patterns of the guards. Knowing in advance how far a guard will patrol is very useful in planning your path though the level. If capturing the dog tags from the soldiers is important to you (and if you want the bonus items, it should be important), the guide provides useful strategies on how to get every dog tag in the game (on normal mode). I tried out some of them, and it worked just as the guide suggested. I wasn't that interested in collecting the dog tags my first time completing the game, so I didn't spend the time to collect them all. As far as I could tell, the strategies were spot on.
    One thing I should mention is that the strategies to get the dog tags and for beating the game apply to the normal difficulty setting. Since some things change on the higher difficulty levels, the guide is probably not as useful for mastering the game on the highest difficulty.
    Using this guide for the normal difficulty level, this is an excellent guide that will take you through the game and not spoil and story points. If you feel you need a guide for Metal Gear Solid 2, this one is well worth your money.
  4. This guide is the most helpful when you are stuck at a certain place in the game that seems impossible to get past!!! The guide is in-depth and simple at the same time. If your stuck then this guide is for you. (this guide is CHEAP and easy to buy to help you)
  5. If you want to play this game with a strategy guide, then your best option is to forget Bradygames and Prima, because authorisedcollection has a much much more detailed and thorough explanation of the game. I had a look at the reviews that 4 or 5 stars are put, they just didn't know what real strategy guide should look at. If you want to have the ranking of the legendary "Big Boss" in the game, go try authorisedcollection guide, otherwise you are just wasting your time playing this game. I'm not trying to offend Bradygames and Prima, but authorisedcollection series the best.
    If you are a Final Fantasy fan, go and compare guides from authorisedcollection and bradygames and you will know what I meant above.
  1. I got this strategy guid because I love playing these video games. I could have bought the strategy guide for 16.99 in store, but I bought it cheaper through amazon even with the cost of shipping. I got it in a few days and it was in excellent condition. My hats off to everyone involved in sending my package.
  2. I received the product in under a week after I ordered it. It was received in bubble wrap and is in very good condition; there weren't even any creases on the binding. I would not have expected to find a copy in a bookstore in this great a condition.
  3. I'm not a big fan of stradegy guides. But I sure know what's a good one. This book has alot of tips and good boss stradegies, such as enemy data and HP, type weakness, break zones, etc. However, I feel uncomfortable with the layout of the maps and how the key works. It's a bit confusing. Especially with the location of the items and sometimes I wonder why the GS quests couldn't have been put at the end of each section instead of making me flip all the way back to the book. It's a hassle there because most, if not all new proceedings in the next stage, a couple of new GS campaigns are avalible and it's very annoying to always flip to the back of the book and wondering which GS route you have to do.
    Also, there are confusing instructions making it almost impossible to find out what they're trying to make you do. Those are just one of the two major things that irks me. (It's not that bad but it's still confusing if you skip the key.) All in all, it gets you through the game, has amazingly good heads-up on notes you should keep in mind, and it has a lovely fold out poster. But I think you can get through the game just fine without it, it's just that it gets you through puzzles quicker. I'm one of those people who really hates game puzzles.
  4. The best guides the buy are by Brady Games...they are the most helpful when stuck in a game...they stend to include lots of picures unlike some of the other guides. The signature series look espicially sharp!
  5. I love Xensaga. I just finished the first one and can't wait
    to start on this one. If you like the thinking games, then
    this is for you!
  1. great game. I am still playing.
  2. This guide contains everthing a guide should have except one maps! MAPS! MAPS! It contains absolutely no maps! But everything else is well done. Overview of storyline, character strengths, weaknesses, and abilities. The guide itself is also good and contains absolutely no spoilers. It has good tips for bosses. In the back details all side quests and missions that can be completed as you play through the main story line. And man does this game contain one heck of a story line just like the first two!! Gotta love Xenosaga! Overall a good investment!
  3. Xenosage is one of the best roll playing games I have ever played. The story is unfolded over three episodes which allows for great character development. The story line is wonderful and kept me never let me down. I would say it is a must for anyone who likes roll playing and quest games. I will playing it again. This guide was very helpful and full of hidden secrets and information that helped me in my quest to get everything I could out of the game.
  4. Great and fantastic series.
    Never thought I'd play a game on a console but this one changed all that.
    Each game changed a little and added something special each time. Loved the ingame movies and the characters are not to be forgotten. They changed with each game and for the better. Great story line and the graphics are fantastic as well.
  5. This guide is pretty complete and very good-- I never feel like I'm missing anything while I'm playing along. There is complete sidequest information (while a little bit more space devoted to Hakox would have been nice) along with good boss strategies among other things.
    The one thing it is sorely lacking, however, is MAPS. Even a little poorly-done overhead sketch of some of the areas would have been appreciated, but this guide has nothing. Unfortunately, the long, drawn out pages of text are not always sufficient in helping me to find a specific item or location. Things could be said in significantly less words if simple maps could have been provided.
    I do recommend the book, overall-- it is very helpful in getting all one can from the game.
  1. I just got the KH II Limited Edition Strategy Guide shipped to me yesterday! It was great! The outside is a hard cover of sora and the gang,the cover holds the books. There are two books the Jiminy's Journal and the official strategy guide. There are 4 different covers: Valor, Wisdom, Master, and Final form of Sora. U can only get one of them. I luckly got the Final form version of Sora for the cover.
    -(The 1st book)Jiminy's Journal:
    - Has 400 stickers of the same size as the 100 dalmation in the first KH strategy guide.
    - The Strategy guide has info on all the character you meet and the worlds. Even the Heartless and bosses.
    - The journal is like a grocery list, like a check list for everything in the game that you wont miss and it even tells you what kind a cutscene there is for what world. Every world you go to, they have a picture for every you get, like certain potions or maps, shards, AP Boost. It even tells you where in that world to get it like for example: there are 2 potions and 1 HI-potion in the Mansion(Foyer) in Tranverse Town.
    - Every character you meet and every boss, or heartless , and even CUTSCENES are in there. Once you have meet that character or defeated that certain boss or discover a new heartless or saw a certain cutscene, you put a sticker there to indicate that you are done with it. For example: In Agrabah, you have to meet characters like Aladin, Jasmine, Genie, and etc.. Once you have met them already, you can get the sticker with their face on it from the back of the Jiminy's journal (one of the 400 stickers)and put it in the box next to the picture of Aladin indicating that you have already met that character. There are also stickers of potions to put on so you know which and what kind of potions you still need to find.
    -(The 2nd book)The Official Strategy Guide:
    - This book has all the info on important characters. The moves, ability, level-ups, limit-commands, and their stats.
    - It is basicly a walkthrough of the game. Every step to the end.
    I hope this helped all of you and encourages you to buy it. It is really worth it to buy it! Especially if you are a bbig fan of KH and Final Fantasy like me! ^_^!
  2. This is the ultimate gift for the ultimate Kingdom Hearts fan. Not only is the back cover customized with a beautifully glazed image of one of Sora's four forms, there's also an extra character booklet that gives you even more detailed information on every single character within the game. To top it off, the entire package is neatly stacked in a stylistic cover case.
    This makes for a great gift and the price is absolutely worth it.
  3. I bought this for my son 15. y.o. He already had the same book but hisone is the better one I guess, well he LOVES it and cant put it down! So I am very happy with my purchase!
  4. This is the best biggest guide to any game I have ever bought, I love it! I read it just like a book, it is so awesome!
  5. Very informative, has lots of detail, comes with many extras. Must-buy for any Kingdom Hearts fan.
  1. The book is a great help to the gamer and the images are just breath taking. The concept art book is also great.
  2. This book is great,also I bought the book for the previous game,however the book has become unglue.I am still happy with it.
  3. It is great. The graphics go way beyond the first God of War. The Book gives you complete information & insight into the game. The walkthrough is awsome compared to other walkthrough's that I have seen. I would remand this Guide to any gamer that is looking for strategy not cheating!
  4. Strategy Guide arrived in excellent condition and quality. Strategy Guide arrived in a very timely fashion.
  5. The Strategy Guide, which includes a very stylish art cover only available in this edition, may be useful to finish the game, but the real trinket of this limited edition is the exclusive Art Book.
    I hope -at least when God of War III is released- that there will be a big hardcover 'Art of'-Book for the ingenious trilogy. Actually each installment of the series would be worthy of a hardcover Art Book.
    I can only recommend this edition!
