1 comments about Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance Official Strategy Guide for PlayStation(R)2.
- Sure you COULD pick up this guide, but why would you want to? They cover all the VR missions and Snake tails and all the bonus stuff that MGS2 substance has to offer but that's all you get from this guide. Should you buy MGS2 substance on PS2 and you've never played the original SOL package and you want help for the main storyline you'd have to go out and buy TWO guides if its the PS2 version you're getting. That is, if you want the full walkthrough for the adventure. Otherwise you'll have to go and purchase the Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Official Strategy Guide.
Yeah, this guide covers all the extras in a nice easy to read way, but if you went through the story of the original MGS2 and you're looking for a guide to that, you'll end up purchasing two guides. My solution to this, go out and buy the XBOX version of this guide. Its the exact same AND it covers the whole story mode walkthrough. That way you'll only spend fifteen dollars rather than blowing off thirty.

3 comments about Super Mario Bros. 3: Super Mario Advance 4 (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- The book is good.Though the game is pretty easy to understand. The book does not go to the limit as expected. It's good for first time players. You can learn many useful tricks and tricks from it.The guide does not explain every part in great deal. For experienced gamer-Ignore it.
- While there is no real reason ot buy a guide to Super Mario Brothers 3, it certainly could help some gamers and while this wouldn't be my first choice, it is still a great guide!
First, I was impressed with all the tricks and tips this guide gave me. It is a pretty easy game to understand so these basic tips aren't really needed, especially for Mario veterans such as myself. The walkthrough is nice but this is actually where the guide falls short. If you want a good walkthrough I actually suggest the far superior Nintendo Power guide. This guide doesn't have any maps of the 80+ levels and so it won't help you find everything in a level. Some info is missing from the walkthrough but it'll still get you through the game. Aside from that there is the Classic Mario Bros. strategy which you actually shouldn't need, since I'm sure that many of us have been playing that since the first Mario Advance game. Overall the guide is pretty good if you need a leg up or some help, but if you're looking to master the game, the Nintendo Power guide would actually be a lot better to get.
- Sometimes, when I look at these strategy guides, they often don't have enough of the feeling into each of the levels, that there not shown in full focus within a map. That comes with Prima, and their strategy guide for Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Brothers 3, for the Game Boy Advance. The unfortunate disadvantage with this game guide, is that the maps really aren't detailed enough to showcase pitfalls, puzzles and problems to pass the time by. Another disadvantage is that if you have an earlier guide that Nintendo made, whether it was the very first Super Mario 3 guide from the 80's for the original NES game system, or the guide that reflects with the Super NES collection, Super Mario All-Stars than this really isn't a suggested purchase for the Mushroom Kingdom. I really suggest you get the one Nintendo made for Super Mario 3 for the Game Boy Advance, instead of this one. The maps are much more detailed there.

- The walkthroughs in this book are very disapointing! The maps and puzzle answers were explained very poorly! I do not reccomend it to anyone!
- This was the worst gaming book. It would help you with a little but not much. it says you get something in the near the begining but you get it near the end. the only thing it will help you with game is the maps. Do not buy it.

3 comments about Paper Mario: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- From bosses to every little strategy this book has it! If you just got the game this is what you need. If was the author I would call this book-
Paper Mario For Dummies Kyle Walker
- The sequel to the popular Super Mario RPG is finally out!! Paper Mario is a 2-D storybook adventure and Prima has published another well written guide but why should you buy it?? Paper Mario is the deepest (if not the only) RPG for the Nintendo 64. There are a total of 80 hidden badges and 160 Star Pieces to find throughout the course of the game. I strongly suggest anybody who has Paper Mario to play the game. I mean really play the game to understand its a great game. Overuse of the guide is a *much* less-rewarding experience and you'll beat the game with a flat look on your face.
- This book is VERY helpful, except...towards the end where it starts to stop being detailed and helpful. Then if you're looking for a guide to help you to the end, but finish it off yourself this is for YOU!

3 comments about Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- I just got the game and the strategy guide today and i discovered that the guide is actually very useful. I have bought games and their guides before and have it be like they were for seperate games. I highly recomend this strategy guide
- Fear Effect 2 - which takes place BEFORE the original Fear Effect, is a great game. The problem is - it's very complicated. This guide is a must have for the dedicated completionist. The walk-through and item guides are great. Some of the screenshots featured in the guide are hard to interpret but that is due to the game, not due to the quality of the book. The game events take place in less than well lit surroundings, so this is expected. The guide contains some cheats at the end but be warned - none of the cheats will work until you've already COMPLETED the game once. Good Luck. Best Regards, turtlex.
- This book helps a lot at first but when the puzzles change, it is useless. Most of the puzzles on hard mode are different and this book does not have any solutions to them.

5 comments about Donkey Kong 64 Official Strategy Guide (VIDEO GAME BOOKS).
- the Golden Banana? the American Dream? is anyone seeing the connection? this is social allegory at its finest. Schmidt and Bogenn play upon the secret hope of all of us, to find the "strategy guide" that will impart upon us the "surefire trick" to "defeat the boss" and attain the "Golden Banana." ....... Written under Marx's ideological wing, this guide teaches that EVERYONE can use these techniques, and WE ALL can "beat the game." The only obstacles are the bosses and their minions (the capitalists and the police that exist to protect their property), and that there are enough bananas for every proletarian monkey to be satisfied if only they learn to work together.
- I call this guide the gateway because it has helped me so much. It tells you all you need to know plus it comes with a poster how good is that.
- This is one of two strategy guides I used to play this delightful game. There are strengths and weaknesses in both. This guide is particularly helpful in guiding you step by step through each area to accomplish all of the goals and challenges. It is most helpful because it takes you through each area in an order that is the most efficient and the least confusing.
Initially, you have to acquire each Kong family member by rescuing them in a particular order and this guide takes you through those steps. Once you have acquired all of your characters, it later becomes necessary to use one Kong member before another or in a particular order. This guide gives the order they recommend and the reason why. Of particular interest to me was the information regarding how to gain a third melon (your life meter in this game). Not being an experienced video gamer, I needed all the help and chances I could get. This information gave me hope that I could get that extra cushion (about a third into the game) so I would not have to keep replaying certain parts over and over again. The maps were not as clear or helpful as they were in the other guide I used which was "Donkey Kong 64: Prima's Official Strategy Guide". (See my other review on it) For me, having the best of both of these books, greatly enhanced my game experience.
- This is a very good guide in that it goes through details of how to get most golden bannanas and most metals. Yet it has falts. For example, the maps are no good do to the fact that there is no way to tell how to get from one place to another50. Also the other stratagy guide that someone else mentioned is a lot sturdier. I mean even if your as gentel as beep the pages will rip out of this stratagy guide. Finally in order to recieve a metal to let you fight K. Rool you have to beat this old fashion Donkey Kong arcade game twice. Though this guide mentions the game it dosen't explain how to beet level 3 of 4 well enough. Other than that it's a pretty good stratagy guide.

5 comments about Digimon World 2 (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- I found the book to be extremely helpful with digivolving and the DNA reference page was a godsend. The only problems I found with the book were the typos and occasional mistakes concerning what digimon you'd find in the domains. You should definately get this book; just watch out for the mistakes therein. Be on the look-out for Flym and cross-type digivolution (which isn't clearly stated in the book ie. Zudomon to Preciomon)
- This is an extrememly helpful guide. The information on Digivolution and DNA Digivolution are well worth the cost. A must have if you like the game.
- ... Before I liked Pokemon I thought Digimon would be better but after seeing 2 Digimon episodes I decided it was weird and gross(The first one I saw showed blood). Then when i gave Pokemon a chance I decided I liked it better because the plot had more to it,it didn't show blood(except when meowth scratchs Jessie and James but nothing major),and the characters were better(including the animals) although that weren't as many people as in Digimon. Also,Digimon is sorta like a copy of Pokemon since they are basicly the same except that Pokemon is better. Like they say:"There's nothing like the original".
- This guide has everything you need. Digivolvation charts, domain tips for bosses, lists to show the digimon you can catch in each domain. This is the perfect guide for a great game.
- This guide is a life-saver, the DNA digi-volution guide was the key to unlocking the fun of the game. Also why is a pokemon fan even writing a reveiw just to make digimon fans angry? I used to think digimon was a little kids show, and then I watched one of the episodes with my son and I loved it! So please poke fans, don't write a "Digimon sucks" review okay!
