1 comments about Toy Story 2 Official Strategy Guide (Official Guide).
- Although this guide is written for Play Station and Nintendo 64, it is also useful for the CD game written for the MAC and PC. I bought the MAC version of the game for my 5 year old son and without the guide I think we would still have Buzz running around the first level forever. The book is very well illustrated and the tips are easy to follow. The game is still quite challenging but with less frustration that can often arise. The guide is now well worn from all the use it is has received. Without it, completing the game would have been impossible.

- It has most of the important information needed to beat the games. However, it doesn't have good game-aids such as maps or point lists.
- One of the best Strategy Guide books out there, the fantasty story only makes it better. Definatly a book for the Quest for Glory enthusiast. The only drawback is the lack of maps, but it is still great! I give it 4 1/2 stars.
- This is the hint book to the greatest series of games ever, the Quest For Glory series from Sierra On-Line. Each section has a story perspective, to let your know how your character would feel fro experience to experience. Then, for games 1-3, there is a more traditional walkthrough.
However, there is no maps, and no guide telling you what you must do to get various game points. The fact that there is no traditional walkthrough of QFG4 is glaring. Worst of all, there is no mentions of the infamous bugs in the games and how to avoid or overcome them. There are worst guidebooks, but you can not be faulted for feeling that this book is lacking.
- This book rocks, it makes the game interesting... well more interesting.

5 comments about The Sims: Hot Date: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- It was the best expanision pack ever. I played it for hours apon hours and i never got bored. I would definatly recommend getting it. If you love sitting in front on the computer getting surprise after surprise get this game. Different and interesting things are always happening. Get it!
- I went to the amazom.but I new about the sims.Because a kid told me about it.I went to the compter store.you no want I seen a book.but I was so happy!
!!!
- I found the list explaining the new characters and new social interactions very useful. The object list is very basic (original Sims and Hot Date objects only), and you can find things like the cheats on fan sites easily. However, it was also useful in keeping track of which objects were original Maxis objects since I have collected so many fan site objects now! I was, however, somewhat disappointed that no living large objects or house party objects were mentioned in this guide. Then again, it is possible to own hot date without ever having owned living large, SIMS DELUXE, or house party. (Not as much fun though, and if you purchase these expansion packs later, chances are you will have to reinstall your game (be sure to back up your neighborhoods and downloaded custom objects, skins, walls, floors etc. first BEFORE reinstalling). So I recommend to get the prior expansion packs first to avoid the hassle of reinstalling.)
- This is a excellent book to help your dating skills in "The Sims Hot-Date". It provides very useful information about how to act downtown, what to do, how to act on a date, what to say, and basically anything you need to know inorder to succeed.
It contains a section about the Hot-Date EP as well as an Introduction to the Sims. Some people might find the intro a little repetitive but again, it also gives very helpful tips on how to succeed in the regular house as well. Overall it is a great book for reference for the game. You won't be disappointed. Pick it up, and if you do, youll be dating and marrying the whole town!
- this book is a great guide and it really help me understand more of the game. since im new to sims i had to buy 2 games(sims and hot date) this book intrudced me to the world of sims! thankyou hot date it feels good to date

- I've been looking all over the place for a gaming guide like this. Most of the books out are very basic or they just cover tips for using certain games. This book really captures what I want to know about gaming. The author seems to really know his stuff.
I was drawn to the book because it had a chapter on modding and enhancing game hardware (which turned out to be really good). But the more I read in the book, the more I liked. I didn't realize that there were so many interesting resources for gamers such as places to get old vintage games. This is the sort of book that every gamer should get a copy of and read cover to cover. It's quite funny in places and just a blast to read in general. The author even included a chapter at the end of the book about what it is like to be a game developer, which was a treat for me because I'd like to develop games some day.
- At first, you might imagine that the title refers to the computer opponents in various twitch games like Doom or Quake. But no. Sawyer means the fanatic gamers, to whom he addresses the book. He being one himself.
Chapters span all the important topics of computer gaming. From personalising your hardware through overclocking the CPU to tips on searching eBay for items. Plus, of course, on the latter, you can sell various gaming memorabilia. He also provides ancillary data on books and movies spawned from games. Though he thinks most of the movies are purely dross. There is a fascinating table of the books in Chapter 7. You may be surprised by how extensive it is, with several books being written by well known authors like Mercedes Lackey and Alan Dean Foster. (The money is good for such purely work-for-hire, I guess.) Most importantly to some of you, he tells how to hook up to the competitive gaming scene, with lists of various regional conventions for the hard core. Interested?

5 comments about Complete Final Fantasy III Forbidden Game Secrets (Secrets of the Games Series.).
- I'm not even going to waste my time and give a reveiw, it is plain horrible.
- Where to start? This is the WORST guide I have ever seen. It gives no info on any secrets. It's in black and white. It makes up info on the characters. Judging from the thickness you would think it was quite detailed, but in reality it just gave statistics of monsters and listed the towns. Dreadful to read. This was a huge wart on the toe of game guides everywhere.
- The main problem with this book is the translation -- the names given here for weapons/armour/etc. are different than the names used in the official translation of the game. Given this, it may be quite difficult to find what you are looking for. The maps are also quite difficult to follow.
However, if you're a true fan of the game, you'll find interest in the character and story information, and for that the book is well worth the search.
- Me and a few friends were board one weekend and so we decided to compare the two of them and here is what we found out. Fifa 2001 has very realistic garphics and the players look very real and they look quite like the real players unfortunately for the people at E.A Sports Productions this is the only area in wich it beats I.S.S Pro Evolution 2 and this is only because the graphics on I.S.S Pro Evolution 2 are ot up to standard and do not look very realistic. The gameplay on Fifa 2001 is slow, it reacts slow and is not able to perform through ball very well were as I.S.S Pro Evolution 2 gameplay is quicker, more responsive, it performs moves better and in our opinion is of a higher quality than Fifa 2001. The lifespan of both games is short and though both games are shortlived Fifa 2001 still will not last you as long as I.S.S Pro Evolution 2 and also the refs on Fifa 2001 are not of a very high standardas they give away free kicks and penalties for what if you look at closly on the instant replay the player gets the ball first and hardly even touches the player the refs also do not allow sufficient time to be played on after a fowl so you can score and you will only recive a free kick for your troubles. The sound quality on both games are quite good but are nothing special. VERDICT Fifa 2001 I.S.S Pro Evolution 2 Graphics 8/10 Graphics 5/10 Sound 5/10 Sound 5/10
Gameplay 4/10 Gameplay 8/10 Lifespan 2/10 Lifespan 4/10 Over all 5/10 Over all 7/10 so if you are in the market for a football sim the only choise from us would be I.S.S Pro Evolution. L. Shelmerdine and friends.
- I own all of the published FF6 guides, and I have to say that this one is my least favorite. While it contains some interesting facts, such as a timeline of events that took place before the game and facts about each character's personality, it relies heavily on the Japanese version.
However, the main drawback to this guide is not the quirky translation but the dated style. It is black and white and mostly text, like some other guides from the 80s and early 90s. The maps are hand-drawn outlines that are too general to be useful.

4 comments about Aliens Versus Predator: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- I have been playing the game since the first day it came out. And since that day, I have been completely frustrated with it too. This book has helped a lot. It give full maps of all the enviornments. Every air ducts, every sub-level, everything! I play this game 24/7, so you can tell I like it a lot. The most helpful thing are the maps. The alien levels are mind-bogglingly long. It took me a week to beet the first level on the alien. I got this book and beat it in 15 minutes. It tells every charecter's weaknesses and strong points. It even gives a blueprint of the weapons and people. It gives info about everybody. It is really great.
- I liked this book. It was a real help
- wow it is great it helped me pass the gam
- Wow, This book really helps, I beat the game alone on alien and predator profiles, but the marine was a little tough, didn't need the book much, but is great for people who are stuck

- This book is essential if you wish to beat Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty. Trust me I have tried without the guide and I could not even get past the first mission. Although I have not beaten the game yet I soon will.

4 comments about Sid Meier's Civilization II Advanced Strategies (Secrets of the Games Series.).
- This is a great book for types on building your civilization from scratch. I learned many strategies from this book. It is not like other Civ2 books I've seen, that are pretty much a extension of the manual and the Civilopedia. The only thing lacking is the tip's for scenarios from Civ2 Conflicts in Civilization (to be bundled with Ultimate Civ2: Gold Edition.) It had two pages for tip's on some scenarios, and only a half on others. It also didn't rate any of the scenarios. Still, if you are yet to fully master Civ2, I would buy this book.
- Sand Pirates is not only a romance, it's a breezy mix of suspense, mystery and thrills beyond ones wildest dreams. It takes you far away to a land of fantasy. I was intrigued by the characters that were well developed and interesting. The story moves fast and keeps the blood pumping. The twist and turns of the plot and the island of Sava made me feel as if I were there.
by- Kim Sandford author of Secret Fears
- This is a fairly good book, but is rather thin for the price. It seems targeted to the Intermediate Civ2 player -- anyone who is looking to refing winning high-level play strategy will find it rather redundant.
However, if you are struggling at King or Emperor level, this book will help you. It's targeted to building a sound empire, then winning (albiet sloppily) at Emperor and Diety levels; however, it will not help with most of the more subtle play at those levels (e.g., getting your score from 3,000 to 15,000 by 1850 AD, etc.). This book does discuss solid fundamentals, how to deal with unhappiness, how to start a strong empire, etc. It does not cover things such as the OCC (one city challenge), getting your top Diety score above 20,000, and the game's more subtle idiosyncracies (max advances, the food caravan 'trick', cheapest way to rush build, etc.). The cutting edge strategies still reside on the Internet, or maybe you'll discover them during extended gameplay. PS, If you still seek a challenge, take the OCC (though this book does not help). OCC game rules are simple: you are only allowed ONE--that's right--ONE city, no cheating, no takebacks (unless a hut gives you a city); game setup: Diety level, small world, 7 civs, raging hordes. Your single city against the world... Top players can LAND a spaceship by 1900 AD, and the best have done it before 1850... Questions? My email is civII@bigfoot.com
- Unlike most so-called strategy guides, which are really rehashes of the game manual, Rymaszewski's book outlines a legitimate strategy which players of CivII can use to succeed at the game on its hardest settings (Emperor and Deity).
The author knows his book is different; he recommends that the most effective way to use it is to simply "read it, and then play the game again". In other words, _Advanced Strategies_ is not a step-by-step walkthrough, nor is it a comprehensive references source full of charts and tables. Instead, it is an outline of a new way of thinking about the game. I recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with CivII. While Rymaszewski's advice cannot compete with the level of detail available on some CivII-related Web sites, his clear writing style and no-nonsense approach to the game make _Advanced Strategies_ well worth its list price.
