1 comments about Gamma World: Game Masters Guide (Gamma World d20 3.5 Roleplaying).
  1. This is an excellent companion to the Gamma World players guide. It provides a lot of useful information about how to run a game set in the dangerous future "Gamma World."

More importantly, it gives clear, lucid and useful advise on how to be a good Game Master (GM). The instructions for how to run a Gamma World are the kind of "How To" articles that apply to virtually any gaming experience, and will be useful for aspiring GMs from a variety of gaming disciplines.

  1. Being an avid fan of the game, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. It gives a little history of the game and it gets you through the whole game. The book also has cheats you can use. So, this book takes you through the game step by step. I wouldn't tell anyone to read this, though, before you can explore the territory a little because it's a really amazing land. Hope you have fun with this!

1 comments about Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
  1. This "strategy" guide is mostly maps and a very high level walk-thru.
I own multiple guide from Prima and are normally very happy with their products, but
    This one is a disappointment.
My advice - Don't waist you money on this guide.

  1. I got this game when it first came out, and I did not know what to do in the later levels. I borrowed this guide from a friend, which later I purchased. It was extremely useful in providing tips and hints for levels. This is a must have for the special levels which are only in Total Meltdown. There are some cool artworks, overall a decent strategy guide.

5 comments about Final Fantasy VIII: Gamespot's Unofficial Ultimate Strategy Guide.
  1. Buy the official one - this is a load of old nonsense and a complete waste of cash!

  2. Most people would disagree with me but this book was OK, it wasn't confusing as the official and the side information is well put together.

  3. I bought this book because I wanted to get into the Final Fantasy game series like my friends and I needed help getting started. This book didn't get the job done. It claims to be able to help anyone from beginners to Final Fantasy experts, but their instructions are no use to the novice. Plus it looks really weird too.

  4. Okay, the Final Fantasy VIII Offcial Strategy Guide by David Cassady is much better than this! The only up over the official guide is that it has a recommended Junctions list.

To start off, the walkthrough is like reading an FAQ at GameFAQS.com, in other words, no screenshots, no maps, just words. Oh, did I mention that the pages are purple? Not to mention that you could easily go to Gamespot.com and find this EXACT SAME GUIDE only you'll have it for free.

There are no stats for bosses and almost no strategy is involved in the guide whatsoever. The guide needs more work because of the fact that with no screens and absolutely no strategy, it leaves for big improvements. If you go to gamespot though, they actually have screenshots.

The only other step above the official guide is that the guide has a final boss strategy. Its just a shame that the strategy is so horrible that it can't be done.

Now for the secrets. Umm.....what secrets? Oh thats right, the guide has none! I was thinking "hey its an unauthorized guide, it might have more secrets than the official", well, I was wrong about that. Luckily I returned the guide and got my money back.

let this be a lesson. Look before you buy, for the love of god look at the guide before you buy it. Now if this was a guide for FFIX it would've been better than the official guide by a long shot.

Overall: If you like GameFAQs and like to pay for guides when you could see the exact same thing online, this is the perfect guide for you! Then grimace in shame as you see the exact same thing at Gamespot.com.

  5. Why bother with this when they have GameFAQs FAQs on their own site!?

3 comments about Evil Dead: Hail to the King: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
  1. WHILE PRIMA DID A GOOD JOB ON THIS GUIDE, I SEE THAT VERY LITTLE HAS CHANGED WITH THEM. I HAVE PURPOSELY AVOIDED PRIMA GUIDES IN GENERAL OVER THE YEARS AFTER BUYING A TUROK GUIDE THAT HAD MORE PICTURES THEN MAPS AND POORLY DRAWN MAPS AT THAT. I HAD TO GO OUT AND GET A BRADYGAMES GUIDE INSTEAD. SINCE NO ONE ELSE STEPPED UP TO PRODUCE A GUIDE TO THE EXCELLENT EVIL DEAD GAME FOR PLAYSTATION, I BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT THIS GUIDE. MOST TIMES I BUY A CHEAT (GUIDE) BOOK AFTER I FINISH A GAME, IF I REALLY LIKED IT, TO GET THE PICTURES, DRAWINGS AND STORIES THAT WENT INTO MAKING THE GAME (AS WELL AS TO SEE IF I MISSED ANYTHING). SUCH IS THE CASE HERE. WHILE THE QUALITY OF THIS PRIMA BOOK HAS IMPROVED, THEY STILL PUT IN WAY TOO MANY OUT OF FOCUS PICTURES AND NOT ENOUGH CLEARLY DRAWN MAPS OR DIAGRAMS. IT'S GOOD BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER. GIVEN A CHOICE BETWEEN PRIMA AND ANYBODY ELSE, ANYBODY ELSE WILL WIN EVERY TIME. TIME TO WAKE UP BOYS.

  2. Very cool guide. There are many pictures in there, so you can check where you are in the game with the walkthrough and hot hints to be a king. If you have the game or you're thinking about buying it, don't forget to buy this cheap and preety guide.

  3. I don't actually think you'll need a guide for an easy game like Hail To The King, which has no complicated puzzles and stuff. But, if you feel like taking a guide, to avoid commiting mistakes throughout the game, feel free to buy this guide, trust me, it's good.
It's fully colored and ilustrated, the walkthrough is full of hints and things, you shall finnish the game well with it. There are also descriptions of the game weapons, enemies, bosses (and the best ways to beat them down). In the index, it says there is an Evil Dead Trivia in this guide, but it's completely untrue. There is no Trivia in here.
So, the guide accomplishes its objective, but it's not awesome or anything. It will help you to beat the game, and it's... a good company for a regular game. That's about it.

5 comments about City of Villains Binder (Prima Official Game Guide).
  1. Before ordering the guide I thought it was a great idea to be in binder format so that I could add my own stuff to it as well. Upon receiving it however I've changed my mind. Not only is the binder cheap in its construction, it is awkward to boot!

I was disappointed with the content as well... I don't think it gave me anything new of any substance; it is basically a rehash of everything that is either in the CoV manual or online in the official forums.

Quite some time ago when I bought City of Heroes (just before release), I also ordered the Prima guide for it... although a lot of the information was basic, it was hands down better than the CoV binder guide!

  2. "When major updates or new Issues are released, Prima will release new, punched Update Packs for your binder." Or so says the product description above...not going to happen.

Prima has made it clear that they will NOT be printing the updates for purchase - they will only be available for download (at no cost) from their site. Which is all fine and dandy, but to print that "free" download on your own and at your own expense in full color would be so cost prohibitive that it makes the whole binder system obsolete. (In fact, one person on the City of Heroes forums burned the file to CD and took it to their local major copy shop, who promptly quoted them a price over $200.00 to print in color.)

So, it was a great dream while it lasted...and the cries of woe from disgruntled customers have fallen on Prima's deaf ears...

  3. Cryptic/NCSoft have issued the latest update as an e-guide, and have stated that they have decided against the binder update format. So it's pointless paying more for this than the usual cost of a strategy guide.

  4. As with the City of Heros book this one was a great idea and then Prima in their great marketing skills decided to not print updates for customers. My children love the book and use it constantly, but now that a new update is out it is getting out dated. Don't buy it because you can't print the updates at a reasonable cost.

  5. Thank God, I didn't pay more than $5.00 for this binder. This item is pure garbage.
