1. This is a really good strategy Guide (Its Prima So Duh) for an INCREDIBLE game. X Wing Alliance: A neutral family fights for its buisness-- and its survival--and is swept up in the struggle between the Empire...... GET THIS GAME IT IS SO GOOD =)



2. The film room is ont he expansion disc or downloadable from LucasArts on the net but those films on the campanion disc really help supplement the great text in the book.



3. I won't repeat what other reviewers have already said. Basically, I'm in complete agreement with them. The story line is great, the hints are helpful, and the included CD with films of the missions is tremendous. I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but it omitted a few things I felt were invaluable based on the "Tie Fighter" hint book that came before. First, there was no listing of all of the possible ranks, and the point scores needed to achieve them, nor was there a listing of the possible skill levels (novice, veteran, ace, etc.) and the points necessary for those. It did not document the scoring mechanism - the bonus points earned by playing at the hard level, and the penalty for playing at the easy level. Secondly, it did not reveal the bonus goals, and point values, for those missions that offered them. Lastly, and I state this with reservation because the authors simply may not have had access to the information, there was no detail of the AI instructions that described how the computer-generated opponents would function in each mission. These instructions allowed the player to know what conditions would trigger a new type of craft appearing, or how many waves of enemy craft would be created. This information was extraordinarily helpful for winning the most difficult missions in "Tie Fighter". In its defense, however, the book did go into a lot of detail about how to set up single and multi-player skirmishes. All in all, an excellent guide, but it fell just short of being perfect.



4. I am not an avid player of games on the computer and certainly not action games like the one associated with this book (but I do love the Star Wars movies). My son left this book on the floor in the living room and out of curiosity I opened it. It was delightful! The middle section of the book is filled with adorable and humorous stories told by an R2D2 robot. Wonderful! The more technical sections of the book relate to the game itself and became very useful once I tried playing the game. When a book gets me to play a game with my son on the computer it says a lot. Thank you Mr. Drake and Mr. Barnett for the chuckles! (My son thanks you, too.)

1. This strategy guide is very detailed and cohesive. It is jam-packed with pictures, levels, and background of Deus Ex. The game is by far the BEST FPS(First Person Shooter) *that requires a brain to complete* this Year. It might just be the GAME OF THE YEAR! I have it and I'm almost done. I got it on the second day it came out and I am HIGHLY ADDICTED to this game... because it's more than just a game....it's a whole other world! Don't believe me? 2. Deus Ex is a complex game. In fact, I didn't realize just how complex it was until I started reading this strategy guide and saw how many subtle options I had missed. Unlike many of the Prima guides which tend to be a little anemic in the "actuallly useful information" department; I found this guide to be absolutely PACKED with helpful tips and clues. Deus Ex is almost a different experience with this by my side.

   I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to get the most out of the game but who (sadly) cannot play it through two or three times to accomplish that goal.

I never buy strategy guides for games because I usaully feel little need for them but when it comes to a game so complex and with so many options I felt I was going to need it for Deus Ex, This book was great considering i dont like to play through games over and over to find all options and secrets but sometimes I lost the satisfaction of figuring things out my own way (considering this game is all about your own decisions and playstyle) when I would wonder hmm i wonder how the book says to do this but all in all i wouldnt wanted to have played without it

1. I have been teaching the college lever intro course for well over 20 years. I have used many text and supplemented same. John's book is succinct, well written and dosen't bore you with trivia. Students thinking about a career in hospitality are interested in finding out all they can in a short period of time what the hospitality industry has to offer. Walker's book, I have used as Department Chair at two colleges, is still the best book on the market. John quickly exposes the unsuspecting student
   to a array of opportunities that many of them never thought that they could get to via a career in the hospitality industry. The stero typical notion of HRIM Majors being "Burger Flippers" is quickly dispelled when John's book is used along with supplemental material demonstrating further connections to many facets of the service industry.

   I thank John Walker many times over for his diligence in keeping consistent the material with regular updates. Other books are good, but John's is the best. Afer more than 44 times of teaching this class, I will stick with John's text. It is an sperb read for those who are either beginning a career or who may be searching for a place to start. It also ties in nicely with other courses that often capture a readers interest to continue on and seek out more information. It is a great recruitment tool if used well.




2. Read this book! It's awesome. It gives an inside look at certain hotels, resorts, and restaurants. It's easy to follow and understand. So, if you're a HM major, I suggest you pick up a copy of this book today.



3. Great book and exceptional service. I bought as a textbook for an on-line Restaurant Management course. It is well written and easy to follow. I love the course.

1. Anyone who needs a book wasted their money buying Metal Gear Solid.Why buy it if you are gonna use a book to beat it? Talk about wasting money



2. This guide for MGS is so good. It has detailed maps with strategies for almost everything. This is by far the best MGS guide. I recomend this guide to everyone except that lair from Vietnam.



3. I have MGS and I chose this particular stratigie guide because my friend recommended it.It had greatly illustrated maps and stratigies on how to beat the bosses and the game.



4. Do not look for tips,secrets,cheats,etc. on this comic book.If you get stuck in a section of this game,This (book)? will not help. I can see why its Totally Unauthorized.It is not helpfull at all.



5. This guide is ok but maybe you should look elsewhere first. This guide is what I like to call a last resort thing. Its maps aren't very detailed and its weak on its strategy. No Secrets or cheats are in this guide. This is just a basic walkthrough, besides you shouldn't need a guide for metal gear solid! But if you do get a guide I suggest either Konami or VERSUS BOOKS but this one is pretty weak.

1. It would be charitable to say that the book had more than twenty pages of useful information. Most of the materiol is taking the information within the games own rather good help files and rewriting them, and the tips they give are excrutiatingly obvious.

   Just don't bother.




2. This SG's maps are hard too read, and the stratageys are dumb. it is not good at all, although it does have cool discriptions of the techs. bottom line; unless you are a billionair, dont buy this



3. Go to ZDNet: GameSpot: Game Guides for a free, downloadable and far superior guide to SMAC. We're (the reviewers) mostly in agreement here that this guide doesn't do enough "right" (like faction strategies, unit design, etc.) and does too much "wrong" (like trivial descriptions of already available game info with little or no explanations of how a player might best make use of the info). I would have appreciated a book half as thick but with opinions on the how and why for designing well-equipped armed forces, choosing government types, allocating research, and so on.



4. The official strategy guide to SMAC was a disappointment. In retrospect, I realize I should have heeded the warnings in the other reviews. The beginning is good, with nice tips on general gameplay and the various victory types, but then it reverts to nothing more than a rewrite of the game manual and online help.

   The Alpha Centauri strategy guide pales in comparison with the corresponding book for Civilization II, which is required reading for any Civ2 fan.




5. The book is a good reference when playing the game. The information in the strategy guide contains more information than the game's on-line help. The strategy guide has a cross reference to easily find information in the guide and in the software manual. For me, the quick reference makes the game play more enjoyable.

   I particularly liked Appendix C, which gives insight on how to modify the game play. Alpha Centauri has seven players. The computer players have certain personalities. Quite frankly, there is one personality I do not like to play with. By changing a file, I was able to change offending personality.

1. This book is very helpful when playing microsoft combat flight simulator. It helps you to get off the ground and to be a better combat pilot. A must have if you have combat flight simulator.



2. This book is a must for Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator. It has tips, maneuvers (sorry if I mispelled it), and awesome facts. Whether you've beat the game or not, this book is a must have!

This, the first of Microsoft's combat flight simulators is the best as far as the basic concept is concerned, and the later two versions would have done better to hew closer to the original concept, and used the technological advances to make improvements within the original framework. In Combat Flight Simulator 2, for instance, much of the scenery is actually inferior, though the ground level scenery around the airfields is somewhat better. Combat Flight Simulator 3 is an actual flop and came out to terrible reviews. Jane's World War 2 fighters is another early combat flight simulator that was very good. If you want to start cheap, this game and Jane's is the way to go. If you want the latest and the best--get UBIsoft's IL2 Sturmovic series of games.

1. I just completed playing RTCW. This book made it possible. It gave quick concise directions and tips for finding secret areas, treasure and how to kill/defeat Nazis and monsters. This is a must if you plan to play RTCW with knowledge. The guides with the game are never adequate in explaining strategy and providing maps to each level.

   A definite must have for playing this game.




2. You would think that a book of this nature that one author would suffice however Prima credited no less than four authors expertise on the RtCW game.

   I found the writing to be extremely childish however for my purposes the content sufficed. The guide does exactly what it is expected to do which is to walk the novice Wolfensteiner through the pc platform version of the game. ... Save your money and check the net instead for further reference....




3. I have to agree with ceres r that this book is hardly worth the money. The writing, like in many strategy guides, is very poor, but it does get the job done. However, I find it hard to believe that anyone would need help with the single-player in the first place. The best part about wold is the multi-play, and this is where hte book really comes up short.

   I would reccomend searching the net for walkthroughs and tips. Save your money for something more useful, like the upcoming expansion for wolfenstein: Enemy Territory!
