3 comments about Video Poker Made Easier (Winning Strategies for Serious Players).
  1. If you want just the facts with easy-to-understand strategies for all the versions of Video Poker, this book certainly makes Video Poker Easier. 'Mathematical percentage overload' that turns off most readers are minimized here and replaced with useful facts, VP pay schedules and tips. This results in a first-rate concise VP education presented by author, Gayle Mitchell.

  2. I was a Slots Player only, until I went searching for some VP advice. I found Video Poker Made Easier to be a step-by-step guide you can use as a jump-start to winning VP.
Now, I play Bonus and Deuces Wild correctly and come home from the casinos with more money. I have not completely given up on slots and will continue to follow the great tips and strategies from Ms. Mitchell and her All Slots Made Easier books.

  3. the price alone speaks not even close of rating doesn't deserve a star either

  1. This is a book of logic puzzles - the ones that tell you that six people named Alex, Bob, Carmen, etc. ordered six different flavors of ice cream, and you have to figure out who ordered which flavor.

They are nominally poker-related in that they use things like six different poker hands as the variables you have to match to the six players from the clues, or five different poker shows on TV, and you have to match them to the fictional channel number they air on.

All of the problems are completely generic, and could be changed to ice cream flavors or favorite colors or whatever else without changing the fundamental problems. The book has nothing to do with poker.

  1. Bought it for a friend...cheated...and read it before giving it. What at first appears to be a coffee table picture book is actually a well written, informative and lively account of various poker facts and stories. If you love poker you'll definitely enjoy this book

  2. Cool book to peruse on a rainy afternoon for those who fancy themselves as poker enthusiasts. While the book provides no insight or tips on game strategy - keep in mind that that's not what this book is for. Rather, it delves into other topics such as the history of the game, the colorful personalities, game lore and historical/memorable bad beats and monster calls. The other great highlight of this book are the numerous illustrations pulled from a few centuries worth of poker art found in advertising, book covers, etc.

  3. My husband bought me this book as a gift shortly after I was appointed as a "global poker specialist" at an online poker room service provider. Although the stories and histories make for interesting reading, the book was not what I expected. I was expecting a bit more information and advice from the top players of today.

3 comments about Stud Poker (Magna Library Series).
  1. This is the first book I've read by John Francome. The story is only for someone who loves the world of horses and horseracing! The author is English so there were lots of expressions that were lost on me. Also, I felt there were too many characters introduced and while it was intriguing in the beginning - it was hard to believe/understand how they fit together in the end.

  2. This is the 5th book by John Francome that I have read. I was extremely disappointed in it. It is fragmented, confusing and a little wierd. The story does not carry you along and I had to force myself to finish it, in the hope that it would get better. It didn't. His other books have been entertaining and good reading, esp. "Outsider". Dick Francis has been one of my favorite authors for many years and I have hopes that Francome will go back to good stories with good characters and have the kind of career that Mr. Francis has had.

  3. The cover blurb for the book suggested that Dick Francis should move over because Francome is serious competition.

    As if.

While the writer clearly knows what he's on about when it comes to racing, he seems to have never bothered to learn the basics of plot. There's pretty much everything I hate in a detective novel thrown in here, from hokey writing to gratuitous sex scenes.

Take a miss on this one.
