1 comments about Mahjong All Day Long.
- There are several things I really like about this very unique book at an old traditional game called mahjong.
The first is that not only is this book written in English, but also has lots of Chinese Characters. Not only do they have the characters for Daddy, Mama, Big sister, Little brother and Mahjong, but also word associated with the game such as " Hu Le!" ( I win! ), " Peng " ( 3 of a kind ), " Chi" ( 3 in a row ), counting in Chinese from 1 to 10 and Do you want this tile? And your typical pestering of siblings ... Sounds terrible, Don't touch, and Don't act crazy!
The second is that instead of drawing illustrations on paper, Beth who is a ceramic arts professor made the illustrations on ceramic plates. How cool is that! The drawings are simple, colorful and have qualities that can and are found in families across the world! Upon 1st reading and looking at the books illusrations I thought, they are Ok, nothing really special, then upon reading the dust jacket I found out that illustrations where actually glazed & fired plates. With that in mind, I went back and carefully looked at each plate and was really impressed! Now,I can easily see those plates now hang proudly on the walls in their parents home!
The third is that in the last 2 pages there is more information about Mahjong, and if you are interested in learning mahjong from reading this book ( like I now am), they have thoughtfully complied a list of 9 books on Mahjong for you to read.
The fourth is that the two sister when as young sat on their fathers knee and watched their parents and family members play mahjong and now they too play mahjong with their families. What a lovely way to pass on a family tradition and beloved game.

1 comments about Hitting the Lottery Jackpot: State Governments and the Taxing of Dreams.
- Hitting The Lottery Jackpot: Government And The Taxing Of Dreams is a timely and informative critique of the economic, social, and political costs of state reliance on lotteries to generate public revenues. David Nibert highlights the conflicting role of the state as a promoter of gambling to show who really profits from lottery gambling: advertising agencies, television stations, and ticket vendors. Less than half the money wagered is returned to participants as prizes. Hitting The Lottery Jackpot reveals the losers: lower-income groups, people of color. These are the segments of the general populace that spend a much higher percentage of their income on lotteries than others. Nibert also connects the rise of lottery legalization with economic stagnation in the 1970s, and explores the ideological dimensions of the lottery of "get-rich-quick individualist promoted among the very groups who would be better served in meeting their economic needs by political action and solidarity. Hitting The Lottery Jackpot is highly recommended reading for students of government, ethics, and political science.

3 comments about Lottery Book: The Truth Behind the Numbers.
- This book was actually better than I expected. I knew that this book was not going to help me win the lottery nor improve my chances. This book met those expectations and more. I really think portions of this book should be used by programs which deter people from gambling as it explains the odds of various lottery games. The title is right on the money, Catlin gives you the truth behind the numbers and giudes you to the best games to play if you must play. He also makes it clear that playing the lottery and gambling are for entertainment purposes.
- I think that this is the best book that I have read until now.
The book is very helpful to those who try to understand the fundamental theory of lottery business.
Above all, the strong point of the book is that the author explained many kinds of lottery very well.
- It's a book that only tell us about the difficult to win in lotteries.
It's not a book for a gambler.Not contains any tip.only negativity.

5 comments about Take advantage of my UNIQUE method to Win on the Lottery/Lotto.
- I have won the Football Pool JACKPOT 3 times, on Littlewoods, Vernons and Zetters, and 4 number wins 96 times already. Only through my own foolishness, which has been explained VOLUTARILY in my book, I have missed out on winning the Lotto Jackpot 4 times. I do not know if others authors of Lotto books being advertised on here have themselves WON the Jackpot. May be my few American critics know that.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are only 456 combination of SPECIFIC NUMBERS GROUPS in my Method that every Lotto Draw Winning Numbers are drawn from in every Lotto game in every country where the game is played. Please NOTICE that unlike my critics, most of the readers who appreciate my book and have written their Reviews on here are 'REAL-NAME' individuals. This is the most important factor in their case. They DON'T wish to identify themselves at all.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following are just a few examples of the drawn winning numbers which occur on every Lotto game regularly.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last Friday, 05 September, 2008, the EuroMillions numbers were drawn from the following 3 numbers in my Method, with Jackpot total of over £96 MILLIONS on offer. I am playing 1-2-4 numbers since March of this year. 1-2-4 numbers did produce all 5 winning numbers on EuroMillions on 21 April, 2006. There are ONLY 84 combinations of any 3 numbers from 9 numbers, and just 126 combinations of any 4 numbers from 9 numbers. Please remember, tens of millions play the Lotto.
3 = 12-39
7 = 07-16
8 = 17
3-7-8 numbers total just 16 numbers out of the 50 numbers on EuroMillions, as you would know if you play the game. These are SPECIFIC NUMBERS, not random ones. Even the STAR NUMBERS were 3 and 8, and almost £96.5 MILLION was shared by one Spanish and one Portuguese player. By the way my book is also translated in Spanish & French, being sold on Amazon.
These SPECIFIC 3-7-8 numbers have previously produced 2 JACKPOTS on EuroMillions as well as, 4 out of 5 winning numbers 12 times and 3 out of 5 winning number 31 times.
In Draw Number 20, on 25 June 2004, the following were the WINNING NUMBERS >>>
3 = 03-21-30
7 = 34
8 = 35
And, in Draw Number 65, on 06 May 2005, these were the winning numbers >>>
3 = 12-21
7 = 07
8 = 26-44
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you keep record of the Lotto Results of any Lotto game played anywhere in the world in the same manner as I do, you will see all the TRENDS you need to see. You will know which numbers are repeating and which are over-due very easily. The real benefit of using my Method of picking SPECIFIC numbers to play is that it allows you to catch the HOT as well as the COLD numbers, and you need both type to win BIG.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
In The USA Mega-Millions Lotto Draw last Friday 05 September, 2008 produced all 5 WINNING NUMBERS from 1-6-9 numbers
1 = 1-46
6 = 06-15
9 = 27
And, on Frday 23 September, 2008, the following 5 winning nubers were drawn on USA MegaMillions Lotto >>>
5 = 32
7 = 34-43-52
9 = 09
- I recommend this lotto book to every one who is interested in winning every lotto game.
- We purchased this book and, for various reasons, were very disappointed with it and felt it was a waste of money. For one thing, fifty pages of this 85-page book is taken up by tables of winning lottery numbers up to 2005. The proposed method lacks substance and is mathematically flawed. If you look at the other reviews, comments and discussions, there are some excellent in-depth analyses as to why the method proposed in this book is flawed.
Basically, the book describes a method of picking numbers by grouping the 1-49 numbers into groups of 1-9. For example, the number 16 = 1+6 = 7, 14 = 1+4 = 5, 31 = 3+1 = 4, so you then choose numbers from these groups of 1-9 which the book claims reduces the odds! However, if you were to select numbers from the 1-3 groups (10, 11, 12, 21, 28, etc), all of the numbers from all of the groups (1-49) still play!
The book breaks down the groups and shows you what they are but you still have to choose what numbers you play.
The method claims to reduce the odds which is impossible! It would only reduce the odds if the other numbers outside of your chosen group were somehow removed from the game.
There is no predictive value whatsoever in the method provided and is not really much more helpful than picking your own numbers based on ages/birthdays or buying lucky dips for that matter.
If you compare this product to Gail Howard's book, the Lottery Mastery Guide, she teaches you how to use numbers which have played to identify trends and use the games that have just played to strategically pick numbers for the next games. You cannot remove randomness from the lottery and you can never really reduce the odds because every single number has just as much chance of playing as another but you can increase your awareness of apparent trends to give you a better chance of predicting numbers one game to the next. This book does not do that at all.
- As I play the lottery with a group, we have collected and created a sort of group "library" of lottery books for choosing numbers and beating the odds. Each of us in the group have volunteered to to read a lottery book assigned by the captain of our group and then use that book's strategy to pick the set of numbers we choose. This book was assigned to me. When I tried to explain the "unique" method to the other group members, at first they were confused and then they thought I had to be joking, especially when I said if you pick from these certain numbers, it improves the odds.
Other reviewers have already given a pretty good write-up as to where this book fails. So, I won't repeat what was said. Just as others have said, before you buy this book, read all the comments on the site. In fact, the reviews and comments on this product page are the most interesting thing about this book. They read like an intrigue novel with no real plot but the characters are certainly colorful and interesting. I think they should make a movie off this product page. :)
- It took me a while to figure out what he was even talking about, as his
descriptions are somewhat challenging. The idea is to increase your odds
by utilizing numbers that reduce (when the digits are added together) to
the base numbers 1-9. Except if you track your lottery's past winning hits, there's no pattern of that many of them reducing to a few base numbers! At best (but not too often), you'll see some winning numbers reduce to 3 base numbers, but even then, which ones? Say you want to go
with a 5 derivative. You could pick 5,14,23,32,41 etc. depending on the number field of your game. But which one? Or two, or three? And which of your 6 picks will be multiples of any base number? And which will
stand alone? By itself, this system will not narrow down your choices that much. I would not give up playing the hot number theory, or other systems out there. If you are curious, & have to buy this book, I would wait for the used seller list to expand, for a cheaper price, as it no doupt will.

5 comments about How to Win More: Strategies for Increasing a Lottery Win.
- If you want to stay away from lingering lottery myths
and learn the truth and nothing but the truth on how to play lottery, this book is most valuable source of information. Based on the analysis of many millions of played combinations in many countries, it singles out the foolish styles of play that the typical lottery player follows. I found it especially interesting to see that playing foolishly means having to share the jackpot with thousands of other winners. Compared to most other books on the lottery, this book is completely honest. It is the definite lottery book for smart lotto players!
- Henze and Riedwyl's book on the lottery is very interesting in that it gives a honest mathematical and statistical view of the lottery. Unlike the vast majority of [other] books about lotteries, Henze and Riedwyl know mathematics, statistics, and probability theory. They make no claims that you will win (because you won't), but if you like recreational mathematics, it's an enjoyable book.
- There are probably only two really useful and accurate books on how to play the lottery. The first is Ziemba, W. T. (1986) ,Dr.Z's 6/49 Lotto Guidebook, and the second is this nice little volume.
The authors focus is on winning the greatest possible amount if your numbers are selected. The book is based on the important idea that, while there is no way to increase your chances of winning, there are plays which will increase or decrease the expected payoff, in the unlikely event that you do win.
If you pick numbers the same way other people do, then you will have to share your winnings--something that could be very disappointing indeed. That is why, with the exception of this book and Dr. Z's book, the most popular lottery books will hurt you the most.
- 95% of it explains obvious and stupid things to not do, and you need a master+ in Mathematics to understand the 5% left of this book that i would have rated -5 stars if i had the opportunity to do so, save $15 and go play lottery instead you'll have more chances to win this way.
- Despite the title, this is a well written and serious book on the modern ``pick 6 numbers out of 49" type of lottery. Of course you can't affect your chance of winning but you can try to choose unpopular number combinations to maximize your share if you do win. Uses empirical data from around the world to describe ``foolish ways to play" (based on previous winning or non-winning numbers, patterns, etc) -- what makes these foolish is simply that too many other people use them. Concludes with a non-obvious recommendation: choose randomly subject to several constraints (one of which requires a bit of math to understand: a quantified measure of non-arithmetical-progression). An appendix has some upper-division college level math probability analysis, but non-math folks can just ignore it.

- ¡Excelente!
