4 comments about The Gin Rummy Theory: Guidance and Perspective Borrowed from a Card Game.
  1. Great book for teenagers and their families. Very thought provoking. A good road map for life. Full of intriguing analogies.

  2. This book is intruguing, and raises a number of helpful, and creative, propositions. As one example, in gin, you never know what cards the other people have, although we make educated guesses about them. The author explains that this is the same for others when they view our abilities, desires, and needs. The author makes the point that the only cards which you can ever fully perceive are your own, and we must recognize this when others misperceive us. The whole book takes simple truths from gin rummy and applies them to our lives. I didn't always agree with all of them, but most of them were very insightful and right on target.

The book is pretty short, which is its downside. I would have liked another hundred pages. But it is still well worth the money.

  3. A book which takes simple concepts from a card game and teaches young people how to apply that rule to their own lives. Sound ridiculous? Not a chance. This book contains some very good advice, in a very easy to understand format.

It is a bit short, which is too bad. Other than that, put me down for four stars.

  4. This book is a complete waste of time. It was written by a juvenile who is comparing a card game to opportunities in life. It is written in the most immature, simple language, and does not tell you anything about how to play Gin. The entire book probably was written in a few hours time - many of the graphics look as though they were taken directly from some ClipArt program. The other reviews on this site were probably written by his friends and relatives - you can see that they only reviewed this one book, and are within a few weeks of each other. Two of the reviews are by the same person! Seriously, this book is not worth any money. It is practically a scam. PLEASE save your money and DO NOT buy this book. It might be worth 25 cents, if you wanted to have a joke and show your friends an example of terrible writing.

  1. This is a decent book on gin rummy. It provides a good synopsis of the different type of player that exists in gin rummy. It is also a quick read.
