5 comments about Shirtmaking: Developing Skills for Fine Sewing.
- This book provided detailed professional information on sewing techniques for creating tailored men's shirts. This book showed you how to alter patterns, create your own pattern OR copy one of your own shirts.
Very infomative. Be prepared to elevate your sewing knowlegde. This book uses "plain talk". It can be read by beginning sewers and advanced sewers.
I recommend purchasing the accomanying video for visual education.
- I've been sewing for over 50 years, and I learned so much from this book !! Wow! Fabrication, technique, results ... worth every penny!!!
- professional shirtmaking tips for everyone interested in making one that really fits. Good tips for those afraid of all those details. very comprehensive.
- I love this book. It's easy to understand, which is no small feat since "sewing directions" are often a bit oblique. And best of all, it's written by a guy who started sewing later in life as I have so his approach is mature, methodical and invested with fun. His guides to creating a custom pattern and fitting have given me the tips and details I've been looking for all in one reference source. A+++
- Very good book about shirtmaking.I have learn a lot! It's wrote with passion, simple english (my english in't very good but I can understand almost all)and very interesting.Very good purchase.I appreciate informations about preshrinking fabrics, perfect pressing and tips about sewing techniques and specials sewing foot.Very good book. I higly recommend it.Thank you.:-)))))

5 comments about Mat, Mount and Frame It Yourself (Crafts Highlights).
- I have been doing amateur framing for about seven years, and have read a lot of framing books. This book is (easily and definitely) my pick as the best book for beginning (and more experienced) amateur picture framers. What I liked about the book: * lots of helpful colourful photos; * easy to read text: * shows that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get into this hobby / profession and produce excellent results; * covers many useful topics without getting into the more advanced, more complex topics (e.g., gesso); * at the end of each section, the author summarizes the important points. The best thing I like about this book is that the author provides many rules-of-thumb; for example, how much of a border should there be around a piece of art work; how wide should be the frame; how deep should be the rabbet; what colours are best given the colour of the artwork; etc. It is also nice to know that most of the things I taught myself (the hard way) are "correct"! With this book, I now understand why I am doing it right!
The book is not perfect. For example (as one reviewer mentioned) the whole topic of making your own frames is virtually ignored. The discussion of equipment related to the frames themselves (e.g., clamps, etc.)is also almost non-existent. Since I have been involved in picture framing for some time (but nothing too complex), I found the coverage of some topics rather, well, silly (e.g., how to read a ruler) and also disagreed with a few of the book's statements. This is to be expected; we all approach the topic differently, and as the author states, framing is a combination of art and science.
Nevertheless, this book is my first pick for learning the important aspects of picture framing.
- After reading the many reviews I purchased the book. I found it worth the money I spent as it reviewed most topics with Matting, Mounting and somewhat a little short on the framing. Would have given five stars if the discussion on making the framing was a little more discussed.
I did purchase the Logan CD on making your own picture frames, promptly returned it as there was more in the book on making picture frames.
- If your a beginner then I think you'll like this book. I was looking for a book that could explain color and give advice about what size a mat should be. I found it in this book. Written very clearly with many pictures or illustrations.
- This book was and is just what I needed, it covered everything I was concerned about from sizing, what to consider in colors of the mats, taking out the mystery of materials, what you need and what you don't need. From doing a simple single job to doing multiple displays. I like the author's presentation of why and what to consider when you approach a job, keeping it simple. I have another matting/framing book which I am now getting rid of as this one is covers all that I need. Unless you are a professional you will not be sorry for getting this book.
- Lots of information of good information on the frame, variations on the frame, building the frame, etc. The mat and mount sections seemed a bit light, but the information was good. I would say the mat and mount section was on the beginner side but framing ran well into the intermediate range. Overall a decent book but not quite great unless you are more interested in builing your own frames.

5 comments about Deviant Moon Tarot: Premier Edition.
- To say The Deviant Moon Tarot deck is just another deck in Rider Waite Smith tradition would be an understatement. The deck takes you into another world of ying/yang insectoid creatures populating a bleak industrial landscape. Patrick Valenza subliminally inserted images from cemataries and an abandonded insane asylum into the images. My first impression upon my receipt of the deck that it was too dark for me to do readings with for people I ordinarily would read for; but for those whose tastes lean to the unusual I'm sure it would work fine. The symbolism of the images maintain traditional interpretations in most cases, but give it a new twist. I think this is an excellent deck for collectors as well as those whose tastes and insights gravitate towards dark imaginings. Valenza is a talented surrealist, and more than just in a deck of cards, the images belong in a museum as each are a unique work of art, making the old new again and reinterpreting it for our times.
- Valenza's highly stylized drawings are evocative, provocative, and fabulously unique. Each card is painstakingly illustrated but lacks the glitzy clutter of so many over-fluffed decks out there that lose themselves in dumbed-down beauty. This deck demands that you pay attention to the meaning of the card, not just how lovely the pictures are. As the author mentions in one of his interviews, there are no "filler" cards in this deck... and it shows.
The physical cards themselves are rather slippery, making them a tad difficult to handle without spilling them. But this made me pay attention to how I shuffle them, and I'm sure with further use it will be easier-- but just something to note.
So far, the readings I've done using these cards have been full of wry humour and straightforward truth. This deck has a crystal clear "personality" that refuses to compromise. Absolutely no fluff here, just an unabashed and incisive approach to "traditional" Tarot reading.
- Not your typical tarot deck, and not a tarot deck for a beginner. This deck uses darker and more challanging images, and reaches deeper into the psyche than the standard decks. However, it is wonderful for the adventurous reader.
- The Deviant Moon Tarot deck is easy to read, even for beginners. The cards are well-detailed. They seem very dark and urban at first glance, or even at a second, but the lightness and variations in expressions allows fuller meaning to each card. You'll want to try these cards just to see if these slightly insane pictures will add a little depth to your readings, and you'll love them if you are a tarot collector!
- Well, if you're a tarot collector / lover like me, or just a reader with a sense of humor... be ready for a fun ride. This is indeed a unique deck, a piece of art, and a wonderful representation of the darker side f our nature. I just got this deck a few weeks ago and I still can't put it down. It's vibrant and full of character.
I highly recommended it.
Blessings,

5 comments about 500 Earrings: New Directions in Contemporary Jewelry (500 Series).
- I was extreamly impressed with not only the content, but the quality of the photos. It is hard to find jewelry books that display true art and inspire. Most of them are just cheesy "artsy-crafty". I would definatly by this book again and any of the same collection.
- As a beginning bench jeweler this series of books have given me product information besides the obvious design ideas. e.g. ultraviolet cement - not something I had been exposed to in class yet, but a marvelous material for pave work.
500 Necklaces: Contemporary Interpretations of a Timeless Form (Lark Jewelry Book)1000 Rings: Inspiring Adornments for the Hand (Lark Jewelry Book)500 Bracelets: An Inspiring Collection of Extraordinary Designs (Lark Jewelry Book)
- The photos were beautiful, but I wish I had paid attention to the word in the title: Contemporary. I had hoped there would have been some good silver or gold artsy types of earrings for inspiration. I found most of these to be geared toward a very limited market.
- I love this series from Lark! It provides me with lots of inspiration and it is a wonderful tool to learn new artists and their work. I have almost the whole series!
- this book is very nice und useful for earring designers with its lots of pictures and detailed instruction of working with earrings.

3 comments about World of Warcraft: Beyond the Dark Portal (World of Warcraft).
- I have been playing WoW for a long while and am a huge fan of the whole setting. This book fits in really well into the WoW universe.
I highly recommend this to both serious WoW fans and newcomers alike
- I have read the majority of the Warcraft books and I believe I like this one the least. There is practically no tension between Alliance and Horde. The entire book is pretty much one sided with no real retaliation from the Horde faction. It was pretty much just reading the how Alliance slaughtered the Horde in every way over and over again.
- The Warcraft novels have been mostly of middling quality, and this does little to change that perception. It tries to squeeze in too many characters in too limited a space, and the reader has little time to form any emotional link with any. The book ties together events that lead to the reopening of the dark portal, and Burning Crusade players might get a treat to see numerous characters from the game in the book. Nonetheless, it's a plodding effort, even though both writers, who have written much better work, try to save the proceedings.

5 comments about The Virgin Kiss and Other Adventures.
- A chilling, funny, yet serious journey through the life of "Scobe". From his teenage years, to his years as a teacher, through his latter adventures in the casinos and on television. There's something for everyone in here. Prepare to laugh out loud and get chills down your spine!
- What can I say that hasn't been said already?
This is a terrific book. You run the gamut when you read it. The book is surreal, humorous, outrageous, side-splitting, frightening, uproarious and thoroughly entertaining.
I just bought a whole bunch to send to my family and friends. I think anyone would find this book completely enjoyable.
- Wonderful Book
Frank Scoblete's "The Virgin Kiss" does what so many books can't do, it grabs you from the very first paragraph and doesn't let go until you finish the last sentence. If you are looking for belly laughs, sprinkled with first love, innocence, sexuality, and amazing adventures this book is impossible to put down. Scoblete has written a great book for us to truly enjoy.
- As a frequent traveler to Tunica Mississippi, I found Scoblete's discription of his time there to be both halirious and informative. Once in a while you can have a bad or funny experience there, but he seems to have had them all in one trip. I think his was a trip I would have enjoyed, after we were back home, safe in Missouri.
His other events in his wild life are well told, and anyone with an intrest in teaching, or writing, or gambling, or in astral travel will enjoy this book, and I highly recomend it to all.
- The personal anecdotes in Frank's gambling books make them come alive and set them apart from other gambling books. Readers get a sense of who the man is who wrote the books.
Now the Wizard throws the curtain wide open and readers get to know the stories that only friends and family have heard. I am fortunate to have known Frank for about 10 years now and have heard some of these stories. Now you can learn about the decline of Tunica, astral traveling, Frank's childhood and his other careers too.
In the section on his teaching career, Frank tells what I think might be his first advantage-play move. He formed a cross-country team out of mostly non-runners, some of whom would even stop for a smoke during a race. The kids got their varsity letters, he got the coaching stipend, and the school got a cross country team, albeit one that never won a match.

5 comments about Charmed Knits: Projects for Fans of Harry Potter.
- I haven't had the chance to make anything from this book yet, but I'm looking forward to it! As soon as I get the needles, I'll be knitting away.
- This is a great addition to any Harry Potter enthusiast's collection. The projects are easy to understand with no crazy knitting language. Its great to have color pictures, along with suggestions of non-obscure products to create the projects. There is literally something for everyone, little kid to adult.
- I'm afraid I have to reluctantly concur with the other individuals who gave this book an unfavorable review. I didn't want to be disappointed but I really was when it arrived. With so many fans of the books and films the expectation bar is set pretty, perhaps even unrealistically high. So if you're expecting dramatic, colorful and ornate projects inspired by the movies' costumes, you will be sorely disappointed. The author's admitted penchant ("About the Author") for the Weasley twins' sweaters becomes patently obvious as you flip through the book. (While much can be said for the admirable qualities of the Weasleys, their attire would probably not be listed among them.) A few patterns are indeed fanciful and brightly-colored, an effort was definitely made to use House Colors in others but above all magic itself seems to be lacking. Case in point the wingless, dull sepia "Golden Snitch Ball" ornament might make a dung beetle drool but it doesn't come anywhere close to evoking the dynamism of an "actual" Snitch. Some metallic yarn would take it from static to enchanted, that fast. Unfortunately the vast majority of projects in "Charmed Knits" are essentially generic patterns given Harry Potterfied names. A head's up about the author's humbler ambitions would have prevented those of us guilty of magical thinking from having been so disappointed.
- I was somewhat disappointed in the projects. I thought they might be a bit more interesting. About the only one that was really potterish was Molly's sweater, rest could have been anything. Designs not bad but who makes socks anymore. I've been knitting for approx. 50 years and can't remember anyone knitting socks since the war. 2nd that is. Still it was a good accomplishment but I wish there were more interesting projects. Would have liked to see more sweaters and less mittens and scarves. It'll still make a good addition to my collection. Not sorry I bought it but not very practical either.
- This book is not for beginner knitters. I could barely make sense of what it was telling me to do. A little blad, but could be fun for someone who wants to make harry potter themed gifts.

- Best value and great delivery. Delivered promptly as always and as I've learned to expect from Amazon.
- Great book - excellent for a gift. Great reading to see just how far some people will go to get their name in print.
- I got this from my library, and was so dissapointed! The book is so big and awkward to hold, and the info is no where near as detailed as I remember the paperback editions being. They can keep their 'Glow In The Dark' issue,I'm not the least bit interested in this direction, these formerly great books are now headed.
I wouldn't want this book if it was given to me free, let alone consider buying it!
- This book did not have alot of records its more for kids a lot of 1st things done are records, glow in the dark pictures, and fold out pictures. to many pix not enough info.WWE wrestling which is fake is in there. I did not like it the old books are way better.
- This record book is the best that Guiness has put out. Full of large pictures, some that fold out, and more detailed explanations of the feats that are considered world records. Granted, some records are serious and important. Some, however are just silly and intertaining. This is definitely the book for the person who loves to know all the arcane things.

3 comments about Strategy: An Introduction to Game Theory, 2nd Edition.
- Joel Watson has done a terrific job introducing game theory. Beware- game theory is not for the light hearted, this book does contain some very dense mathematical proofs etc. The hardest part of the book is understanding the mathematical proofs for the main ideas of game theory. Once the mathematical foundation has been layed down it is very easy to follow the main concepts such as nash equilibrium, bargaining solutions, etc. Watson writes in a very relaxed and informal fashion, which is very refreshing. If your professor requires this book for class you should not worry, this is one of the best books on the market.
- Comment to the last review: This book is an excllent txbook, especially when the prof teaching this class is Joel Watson himself. Very interesting prof he is.
The book is very useful and easy to follow.
- Really book for game theory and contract theory. The author does a really good job of explaining the theory with examples that are easy to understand.
