1. Upon receiving this book, I wanted to begin with some Easy puzzles, that's why I bought it. Turns out, there is no indication of which are Easy, Medium, Hard, etc. and it does not appear to be in that order. Even my husband, quite an accomplished crossword solver, was unable to locate any Easy puzzles for me.



2. This volume collects 365 New York Times crossword puzzles originally printed between 2000 and 2004. While the series is not in chronological order, it does follow the normal Monday to Saturday progression of difficulty. Daily grids and clues each squeeze onto one 6" x 9" page and Sunday puzzles span two pages. Be forewarned that most of these puzzles have appeared in recent NYT crossword calendars and other reprint collections. The small pages are bound like a paperback novel so the user must awkwardly hold the book open while solving.
   While this is perhaps the only NYT volume that features both daily and Sunday puzzles, I'd recommend any number of other excellent NYT collections instead of this one. I prefer the page-a-day calendar for its better portability, the `Black and White' book for its better aesthetics or any of the larger collections for their page size.

1. Book was easy to read. Puzzles were difficult but are able to be solved. Good book.



2. I love these -- the print is big enough my old eyes can see it easily, the puzzles are neither so simple I am bored nor so hard I want to tear my hair out and take another blood pressure pill. The "used" copy received was in perfect condition with not a mark on it inside or out. Shipping was by USPS and it actually arrived a couple of days faster than expected. Great product and great service.

1. The majority of our evaluators donned this colorful book to be out and out fun. Whether they were writing puzzles (sans computer programs) solving them or just reading through the vast information. The most common remarks were "It is funky, contemporary, and extremely well organized."

   Simon & Schuster has put together over 200,000 words which are arranged most proficiently. For example, if one needs a 6 letter word which is of the chemical ilk meaning toxic--turn to alpha order page TOXIC, peruse the additons, one of the entries by letter evaluation is DIOXIN.

   Far more than for crosswords, this informational fountain flows with a high level reference section. One can find anything from Grammy Award winners, best sport teams, historical facts, pop-culture and even current events (thru 1998-9).

   Superb for trivia buffs, lovers of words, crossword puzzlers.




2. I found very few circumstances were this reference book came even close to to the comprehensiveness of the "Random House Crossword Puzzle Dictionary". The only thing that recommends it is the easy to read type face.

1. I purchased this book as a gift that fills a certain need. My mother-in-law LOVES crossword puzzles. Recently, however, she has had a serious loss of vision. This book gives her the challenge of newspaper crosswords while providing her with the fun of maintaining a passion. Bravo!



2. I bought this for my 91 year old Grandmother for Christmas. She has always enjoyed reading, and loves word games to keep her mind active. Even though she needs to write down that I visited so she can remember to tell others who came to the house, she can still do a mean crossword puzzle! She said she'd be doing them all year until next Christmas!



3. I bought this as a present for my parents because they like to do crossword puzzles together. The large print crossword puzzles make it easier for two people to work on a crossword puzzle at the same time. And, of course, the NY times puzzles are excellent.



4. My mother has always loved The New York Times crosswords. Her sight is weakening with age. This large type lets her continue to enjoy her hobby.
