1 comments about Craps: To play like a pro learn from a pro.
- You'd never guess from looking at this book that it's one of the all-time classics of craps advice. Hey, if you want to play from a pro, you gott LOIN from a pro! Reading this book is like learning how to play craps from a guy who's been standing at a craps table in downtown Las Vegas for the last fifty years without a break. This book is the foundation of my craps library. Highly recomended.

5 comments about Winning Craps For The Serious Player.
- This book is a waste of money. The only useful information covers the rules of craps and how to play. The cover promises 25 systems for winning money, but in fact they are mostly variations on each other. None of them are worthwhile systems.
The whole book is repetitive (I think the author just needed to pad things out so you didn't realize you were being ripped off). And the sexist rubbish gets old after a while too.
- I liked this book so much, I usually keep two copies just in case
I loose one. Just bought another copy again this year to give to another friend, thats about the fifth copy given away in the last three or four years. (For the money), I'll guarantee the only way you could not win your investment back is if you stood at the craps table with you eyes closed. The book is straight forward but not dry with just a touch of humor. It explains every thing you should know, or could want to know about Craps, yet is extremely easy to read, and hardly even a half inch thick. I've read the book several times from cover to cover, and wouldn't think of going near a craps table without first brushing through the book one more time...
- This comprhensive book is insistant on teaching a conservative method of craps and ignoring, indeed vehemently disdaining, the more tempting and colorful craps bets that the author proclaims to be money loser tbat glitter like tempting gold coins on the craps table. These and other tips are forcefully ingrained into the reader until they are nearly mantra-like in the mind. Still, by the time I arrived at the craps table I found myself wishing I could reach for this book to help me out with a bet or a question. I don't think the dealers and other players would have appreciated my referring to a "How To Play Craps" paperback in the middle of a roll. So later I read the book again and I'm still referring to it. Only complaint; the depiction of women as less than perfect craps players. I'm a less than perfect craps player. My first roll went flying off the table and sailing across the room like I was throwing darts. The author attributes such a wild throw to women and often refers to them as some kind of good luck charm.
- I have won money using the techniques outlined in this book. Need I say more?
- I have read many books on Craps and this is one of my favorites. Very easy to read and full of good techniques for realistic play. Combine this book with Schoblete's Five-Step Advantage-Play method and you will be a powerful player.
Do yourself a favor and buy this book for your collection. You won't be disappointed. Also, whatever books you read, download wincraps and use the free software to master your play. It really helps. [..]

3 comments about So You Wanna Be a Gambler!: Craps (Learn How to Win).
- This is an absolute must for anyone who wants to step foot in a casino. I can't say enough good things about this book. John Patrick lays out a road map for minimizing losses and maximizing your chances to WIN. If you follow his rules, you will become a winner.
- This book is terrific. Through using the approaches described in it, I have had a great deal of fun playing craps in casinos around the world, and have managed not to lose my shirt in the process (an amazing feat given how much I have played and the fact that the house always has the advantage of the "vig"). I highly recommend this book to craps players of any experience level.
- This is the first book I have read on casino gambling. I am a novice gambler and I found John Patrick's advice to be solid and sound. He wants you to make smart decisions and not expect miracles. There are no gimmicks, no empty promises. He has little tolerance for a loser mentality and is uncompromising on what he thinks is the right or wrong way to go. I will continue to go back to the book as I play more and more because there are many different strategies and I can only absorb and put into practice so much information at once.
I just got back from Vegas and I cannot report that I came home with more money than I left with, but I did go there with some parameters to begin playing with and enough confidence to step up to the craps table. Hopefully the dice will be hotter during my next outing.

5 comments about Beat the Bastard Casinos: Pre-Setting Dice--I Beat the Bastards, So Can You!!!.
- This book is so different than any other craps book. It proves you can make money playing craps by setting the dice and if you practice enough you will learn how. You need to throw the dice softly so they do not bounce around much and it doesnt work all the time but whenever I shoot, I ALWAYS set the dice. After all, what can you lose by doing so? If anything at all will help me avoid throwing sevens I will do it. He spends a lot of time on the different pre-sets, like A-A, A-C, C-C, and lots more, so you can set the dice for specific outcomes. For example you want MORE sevens for the come out and LESS sevens afterwards. He also goes into wrong betting, the unknown curse, charting place betting and lots more. Quite a lot of good stuff in this book, it really opened my eyes.
- Listen Very Carefully, I bought this book and it along with others are critical to my knowledge of how to effectively set the dice. and beat the casino. Maybe it could have been organized better but, so what. I want a classic novel look up Oprah's Book Club title this month. You want to call "All the Hard Way's on the Hop"!!!! On the Come Out Roll. and Get Paid. You by this book read it and Beat the Bastard Casinos.
Oh, Check out Dicesetter.com for more information
- I read this book and learned how to "set" the dice so whenever I shot I gave it a try. It didn't work all the time (I'm still practicing) but it did work and noticeably changed my shooting for the better!
- This is a controversial book because a lot of people don't beleive that setting the dice will make any differnce. But the way I look at it is if you are going to shoot, why not set the dice? It couldn't hurt and it just might help. This book goes into great detail on setting the dice. It has lots of illustrations and helped me to have confidence every time I am the shooter. It teaches six different methods of dice setting and why sometimes one is better than the other. I don't think it works all the time, but even it works just some of the time, isn't it worth doing?
- I saw a controlled shooter in Vegas several years ago roll twice back-to-back 45 min sessions and then began to believe there might be something to this. Since then over the past 5 years I have practiced controlled throwing and dice setting hundreds of hours and I now win on a regular basis. They key thing is it doesn't work all the time or even most of the time but it doesn't have to.
I can now thow 6's like crazy ( I use the 3-3 set). I also protect myself by hopping the 4-3 which is the only devil I usually throw. For a friend of mine I showed off in Shreveport and threw a six ten times out of fourteen rolls, then came back and threw a 6 six times in a row.
Then of course got heat from the floor.

5 comments about Casino Gambling : A Winner's Guide to Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Baccarat, and Casino Poker.
- I found this a delightful book. It's very easy to read, covers all the major games, and contains lots of practical, useful advice.
And at less than $20, it's excellent value for money. My only criticism (a very minor one) is that the Roulette section focuses mainly the "double-zero" wheel, used in the USA. The "single zero" wheel used in Europe and in Australia, doesn't get much coverage. However, this is a minor issue. Overall I found this an excellent book, containing a wealth of useful advice.
- This book helped me incredibly understand the odds and help beat the casino at their games. I recommend it.
- This book is great, it's very funny and will provide many laughs. Unfortunately, if you are looking to read a book on how to gamble well, this is not it.
This book states how to beat Craps (controlled rolling of the dice to land on certain numbers), Blackjack (taking advantage of non-random shuffling and finding groups of high and low cards), and Roulette (watching for a zone on the wheel where the ball repeatedly falls due to the dealer throwing the ball with the same speed).
These methods of how to beat the casino are all completely irrational, unattainable, and at times just plain ridiculous.
If you could beat craps by controlled throwing of the dice, don't you think the casinos would recognize this and change their dice rolling procedures. To avoid having controlled rolls is the exact reason is why they make you hit the back wall in the first place.
If you could beat roullette by taking advantage of dealer memory, where they always throw the ball with the same speed and therefore produces certain zones on the wheel that are hit consistently, don't you think the casino would recognize that certain numbers hit more frequently and change their procedures. The obvious fact that the Author fails to mention is that in order for this method to work, the dealer would always have to throw the ball with the exact same speed and he/she would always have to release it at the exact same spot on the wheel...which is nearly impossible or at least so low a percentage, that I would not bet on it!
The Blackjack stategy is the only one that even resembles rational thought, but even this method of taking advantage of non-random shuffling and finding pockets of either high or low cards and then increasing or decreasing your bet accordingly fails to mention one obvious fact. Even if you do see pockets of high or low cards, you never know how big the pocket is...you could see two hands of all high cards, change your bet accordingly, then the next hand could change to a pocket of low cards.
In summary, this book tells you how the Author consistently beats the casino using these methods...I think the Author needs to realize that he is just getting lucky using his less than scientific systems. If you want to read a book on how to gamble well you should pick one that explains how to minimize your losses, by decreasing the house edge. At least find one that is non-fiction!
- I looked at this listing and found that the description was for the "paperback" version. Well this book, "Casino Gambling: Winning Techniques for Craps, Roulette, Baccarat and Blackjack" (C)1982-3 is said to contain chapters with silliness like how to control dice and spot a roulette wheel. That description is NOT for this book! It is for a book called "Casino Gambling : A Winner's Guide to Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Baccarat, and Casino Poker" (C)2000. The newer book lists several authors. The added sections must be from the new authors and account for the lame "beat the system" advice. The 1983 book is very solid with excellent math and logic only! It tells you up front that you can't get an edge on a casino but shows you exactly what the house edge is on every single bet. This makes you an informed consumer at a casino. Such a book is refreshing in a sea of books about gaming that purport to give you a "secret" to gain riches. HA! The best you can do in a casino is either get up early and stop, (but you could also get down early) or play smart and loose small amounts slowly while enjoying the game and maybe some free drinks. If you want to learn to play casino games and want the straight info about the risks of each play, this book is perfect. If you want to hear a fairytale about how to "beat the house" look any ware else. PS this book IS paperback as well. ISBN: 039950656X
- This is a great just basic book I wouldnt say it goes into any great detail just give you the basic understanding of the games and where your odds a probably better at making money. But in reality the house always has the advantage your almost better off going the first minute you get to vegas take all your money right to the roulette table and go black or red if you win take the cash and enjoy the rest of your trip not gambling!

5 comments about So You Wanna Be a Gambler: Advanced Craps.
- I bought 6 books to better improve my craps game. This was the best book purchased. It's around 500 pages, and offers the most insight into all aspects of playing craps. This is an Advanced book though and if you're new to craps, get a more basic book to start. Be warned that Patrick uses sarcastic anecdotes, but the wit is meant to drive home his key points. Also recommended, "Craps: The Real Deal" by Vogel and Edell's "How to Make Your Living Playing Craps."
- This terrific book is really 600 pages of good, solid advice - everything you always wanted to know about craps! You'll learn over 50 different super systems and John Patrick REALLY drills them into you in his "unique" style (he kind of yells at you a little). But at least you'll remember stuff like I did. Don't be put off by his style - he does it for a reason - he's really trying to help. READ THIS BOOK it may take a while but it's the best book you'll ever read on the game of craps!
- This is by far the best book ever written on craps. Patrick's style of writing is easy to read and very often entertaining. He gives detailed examples of different systems to use at the table. He not only describes the proper moves to make but also explains the reasoning behind each bet. Patrick briefly talks about the different bets available to a craps players and then jumps right into an analysis of the game. His style involves careful money management and a powerful regression move. By reducing your bet after a win, you lock up a profit and guarantee yourself a winner. Using Patrick's techniques for both right and wrong betting, you'll become a better player. Will you win all the time? Of course not, no system can guarantee you a winner everytime. But at those times when you do lose, Patrick's money management helps you keep the losses down. If you're looking for the big score, this book isn't for you. Advanced Craps is for the conservative player, looking to grind out small consistent wins. If you wanna win more money, bet more! Patrick's book has tought me the three most important words in craps -- Take Me Down. I highly recommend this book.
- This book has many, many strategies to play craps, a down to earth book for people who are not greedy,he shows mostly conservative way to play.
- things u didnt know about the game within the game of craps....this book will really help u win!

1 comments about Fact or Crap (Quiz Books).
- I purchased this for a 2 day/13 hour road trip for my kids (1 tween and 1 young teen). They didn't run right to it but they did enjoy it after they tired of their ipods and computers. I liked the questions because it taught them older and odd facts but there are current facts as well (ie Simpsons) so they did not get frustrated at all. The format where 2 teams or individuals can play against each other provided extra incentive and excitement to the game (and we let them ask a 3rd party for a certain number of questions like one of the TV quiz shows does). I would buy it again for next year's trip.

5 comments about Dice Angel.
- "Dice Angel" is a smart, hilarious page-turner with witty dialogue and vivid characters. Set in the real Las Vegas, known only to locals, the book offers an insider's view into the bizarre dichotomy of this world (i.e., who knew Mormonism flourished in Sin City?) We follow Jimmy D., our flawed but lovable, wise-cracking antihero, as he weaves his way through a series of trials and tribulations which would defeat a lesser soul. With nothing left to lose, Jimmy grudgingly hires the weird and wacky gambling guru, Amaris (the "Dice Angel") in the hopes that she can reverse his bad luck. Never a dull moment between these two, and the wild ride which ensues culminates with a couple of unexpected and thoroughly enjoyable twists. A great read!
- "Dice Angel" is a great fun read. I laughed out loud several times while reading it, and the ending brought a real smile to my face. You also get to see Las Vegas from a locals point of view, which is dead on. The only reason it's not 5 stars is that it's really not meant to be. Its meant to be 4 star fun!
- In today's day and age people want to read something that is interesting, funny, and a quick read. If you are looking for a very well written book to take with you on the plane ride to Vegas or to the pool, then this is it. Not only is it a page turner, Mr. Rouff's wit shines through and will have you laughing all the way.
As a soon to be published author, it only makes sense for me to wholly endorse another author who inspires me. Bravo Brian, keep up the great work!
James C. Hughes, author, Vegas Original (coming fall, 2008)
- This short novel is very well-written. It has an engaging plot that leads to a gratifying ending. But, the best thing about Dice Angel is its character development. The characters are believable and diverse. The author is so focused on setting up the story's background and characterization that he doesn't introduce his central character, the Dice Angel, until half-way through the book.
Dice Angel paints most of its characters via dialog. Besides making the book a very fast read, this method brings the reader right into the action. The reader pegs each character just as he or she would do in real life, i.e. by listening to what they say and noticing what they do.
Without straining too hard to be funny, Mr. Rouff also does a good job of inserting humor into the story.
Dice Angel is a very good book written by a skillful and imaginative author.
- Having spent the last 25 years in Las Vegas I can attest that Brian Rouff knocked this one out of the ball park. I could swear that I know some of these people. The characters are so intriguing that we want to know them better. I hope that this will become a series because one seldom encounters so pleasant a read. The narrative is honest and refreshing and he captures Vegas Noir with style and understanding. Cheers for this page turner of a novel.

- The only one i have read for now, i really enjoy this book, you feel like you get teach by an experienced pro gambler on the game...easy to read and far from boring.
- The book was informative on a lot different playing strategies. Yes I made some money some of the strategies that were in this craps book. Also the author provides you with what to expect when playing craps. Unlike many authors writing gambling books Ellison has a lot of professional gambling experience which makes this book on craps worth reading and referencing. This book is better than most craps books that are currently published.
- Within the first 10 or so pages I found a blaring error, stating that when flipping a coin 500 times, it is "impossible" to get 500 heads*. The author was very adamant with this view and stated variations thereof throughout the book. One cannot denounce the gamblers fallacy and still go on to say that past trends influence the future, as his sermon on "trends" says.
Casinos need these books in the market.
*Also, the probability of flipping 500 heads out of 500 trials is the same probability as flipping any specific sequence of heads and tails. Without attention to ordering of the heads and tails, then 500 heads would be improbable, but still not impossible. With a long string of black turning up on the roulette wheel, only the sucker and the degenerate believe that red is "overdue."

- One of the best overall reference books on craps, as worthwhile for the more advanced player as it is for the beginner. No serious craps library should be without it.
- If you have no idea how to play craps then i will say as all other books it explains the basic bets etc. The problem this book had, along with many other craps books i have bought is that 70% of the book is basic craps primer, 10% are about stories of big rolls, 10% is about comps and casino management and about 5 pages are about actual strategy to use while playing the game.
Drumroll please, the big strategy that will make you tons of money can be summarized in 3 sentences.
bet the pass line with double odds. After each Pass win without a loss, press the bet up. At the end it has you betting something like $500 on the pass and 1000 on the odds bet. here is the problem:
In order to get to that level the shooter, get this, has to make something liek 11 points. I have seen some shooters make 5 or 6 points but 11 is very very rare.
This book in a sentence:
After each pass with double odds win press your pass and odds bet. if you lose on 3 shooters go home.
- I became acquainted with Silberstang's writing way back in the 1980s and his basic ideas do hold up. You will not really learn an advantage method in this book, but a betting system that does cut the house edge to its minimum. Silberstang's writing is crisp and clear, his experiences show that he is a player, and his knowledge of the game for random players is top notch.
This is a good book to start your craps playing career.
Frank Scoblete: Author of Golden Touch Dice Control Revolution!
- It has really helped me understand the game. I was playing it all wrong. Haven't tried the "Come" stragedy, but will try it soon.
- Okay, I had played craps before but I was not an expert by any means. I understood certain basics but wanted to learn more, and even a system or strategy. I picked this book and it provided everything I needed. The background is well described and most importantly points out the bets that a standard user should stay away from (i.e., the bets in which the odds are not in the players favor). The strategy presented (for playing with the dice) is very comprehensive but easily described. Personally, I wanted something simple that I could remember in any state of mind. :) Regardless, this system single-handedly paid for my trip to Vegas for a buddy's wedding. I never played high-roller tables, nor did I make extreme bets (in my case). The system allowed me to maximize my profits and minimize my losses while the table was "hot". If you are interested in learning craps and using an easy system, this is the book for you.
