5 comments about Craps Underground: The Inside Story of How Dice Controllers are Winning Millions from the Casinos!.
  1. Frank Scoblete has been involved with dice control since the late 1980s and this book is a culmination of his experiences with the greatest advantage craps players in the world. You will meet the Dominator, the Captain, the Arm, Sharpshooter, Howard "Rock 'n Roller," and many other great ones in this exciting and fascinating book.

Scoblete recounts his true adventures in the casinos since the late 1980s, practicing a way to beat the house at the game of craps, dice control. He wrote about dice control in 1991 and 1993 in his first two books and then wrote Forever Craps in 2000. These three books lay the groundwork for the Captain's method of dice control which is featured in The Craps Underground.

You will love Scoblete's true adventures on the A&E television show, in his diary of 16 days of play in Las Vegas, in his setting up with Dominator of the Golden Touch craps dice control seminars.

This is a book that is a must read for all craps players looking to see what the great ones have been able to accomplish.

  2. This book is the great stories of the greatest dice controllers in the casinos, including the Captain, who just rolled 147 numbers!!!! You can read about this great roll at golden touch craps web site under the world records. This book takes you on an adventure into the world of the greatest advantage-players of all time - the Captain, Dominator, Sharpshooter, the Lee Brothers, and the great shooter who ever lived, THE ARM.

This is a must for all dice players and those interested in a great book!!!!

  3. This book is more of an advertisement for Scoblete's other books, his writing buddies other books, and his golden touch craps siminar. This book gives no mention of how the reader can acomplish dice control, which is the reason I bought this book. The book is rather a collection of stories. Scoblete tells of people he met playing craps but he forgets to tell how to play craps. It would not surprise me at all if the characters in the book are made up, especially the Captain, the authors ultimate craps hero. I couldn't even finish this book. It was boring and repeated the same type of uninteresting stories all the way through, and left the reader with no knowledge gained. If you are interested in a good casino book I recomend something by Avery Cardoza or a book published by his company.

  4. Chalon Jackson has written a phoney review. I know ten people from this book as I took a Golden Touch Dice control course.

Frank Scoblete, Dominator, Dave the barnacle, Mr. Finesse, Howard the Rock 'n Roller, Stickman, Street Dog, Bill Burton, Jerry Patterson, No Field Five.

Two of the above have played with the Captain and one student from the class I was in also played with the Captain - so the Captain is real and not a fiction. You can read about his great roll of 147 at golden touch craps.com if you want.

The book was not advertised as the manual for dice control but as the story of the great dice controllers and that it sure is. You will meet the Captain, the Arm, Jimmy P., the Lee Brothers, the great Golden Touch shooters such as Dominator.

The last chapter of the book is supremely interesting - a 16 day diary of Frank's adventures (and they were some adventures for sure) in Las Vegas.

Don't let shills for other authors guide you away from this masterpiece. Check out all the reviews of the Craps Underground and you'll see that almost all are five stars. This book deserves that many for sure.

  5. I read this book after I read the Scoblete / Dominator Golden Touch Craps Dice Control Revolution! and it is a great companion book to go with that one. The first shows you exactly how these great dice controllers develop the skill to beat the casinos at their own games and this book is the great stories of the great dice controllers such as the Arm, the Captain who has the world record of 147 throws in a row before sevening out, and the Lee Brothers who head a band of professional players.

Scoblete is a great writer and these two books are great together.

4 comments about John Patrick's Craps.
  1. This tired and worn out REPRINT of John Patrick's earlier edition has been given a new cover (A dust cover wouldve been Cheaper, John) and gathered off the bargain bin floor in the hopes that P.T. Barnum's crowd will bite again....I can only assume that John Patrick is institutionalized and not in his right mind, thus having no control over the CLUNK-GRIND of the Reprint Mill.

  2. John is not a writer writing about craps. He is a professional gambler (he says so) writing about craps. This is no scholarly tome, but a nitty-gritty, name-calling, book with some hard truths in it. John will describe your methods of play and then will call you what you are: idiot, dork, etc. When you get past being insulted, and rightly so, he will show you what not to do and what to do to win. That is his writing goal: for you to win! I've collected many books on craps. This book is one of the three books I'll ever need on craps. (The others are John's Advanced Craps and Scoblete's Golden Touch Dice Control.) You can find this book under several different covers, but the hard truth is the same under all of them. When you get tired of losing, buy these books.

  3. I was intimidated by the game of Craps, until I came upon a book by
John Patrick at the library. His way of playing made a lot more sense
to me than the others. I wasn't about to risk even a small amount of
money on a game I didn't understand. His book walked me through the
types of wagers, the ones he felt were good bets, as well as the ones he thought
were the risky, and poor wagers. His betting strategies
were explained and very helpful. I was able to buy in, and play, with my small bankroll
with a measure of confidence. I also used his advice on discipline and
walked away a winner. I now own several of his books and the ones on
the game of craps have a high recommendation from me.
Now I don't win everytime, but when using the advice he has given, I
win more often than not, and I NEVER lose my shirt, and I ALWAYS have fun.

  4. This is a great book. I had played craps for a couple of years, but my playing style was always based on the feel of the table and what the dice might do. I would hear other people tell me I should try this or that. This book EXPLAINS the craps table, the house edge, what you can do to reduce the house edge and much more. One thing about this book is that it will tell you that no matter what system you are playing there is still only a 50/50 chance you will walk away a winner. This book is great and really does a lot to show you how to play, what not to play, and why. Lots of great methods in the book too. I cannot wait to read the Advanced book now.

5 comments about How to gamble at the casinos without getting plucked like a chicken.

  1. This is a great book! I read it before my last trip to Las Vegas and it really helped me. Rather than wasting my time and money on sucker games, I followed the advice and played the games that gave me the best odds. Not only did I come out ahead for the trip, but the casino comped my room!

I find that going gambling is a lot more fun when you win. This book can really improve your chances. It sure has helped me.

  2. If you are only going to read one book on gambling, this is the one you should read. It covers just about every casino game of any consequence and gives you the essential information about each game with a minimum of blather.

This book doesn't promise to make you rich, but it sure can keep you from looking like an idiot. The best part is that it is a pleasant read. It makes the details easy enough to understand so that you can become a competent gambler without having to have a PhD in mathematics.

Even if you don't go to casinos to gamble, this book explains the factors that make it possible to win more often than you lose - for all kinds of games. That's why you really should read this book.

  3. I liked the way the author wrote. It was an easy read. The video poker section maybe outdated by now because casinos change machines so often.

  4. Many gambling books are dull reads, even if they give the best possible analyses of the games and how to play them intelligently, so it is great to read a book that is enjoyable and, at the same time, informative. This book gets high grades in those areas. Definitely worth reading.

Frank Scoblete: author of Golden Touch Dice Control Revolution!

  5. "How to Gamble at the Casinos Without Getting Plucked Like a Chicken" is an excellent guide to becoming a winner. It explains how to play all the major casino games like a pro. For some games (Sucker Games) it flat out tells you that the right way to play the game is to keep your money in your pocket.

It explains that only some versions of Blackjack and a few video poker games actually can be beaten over the long haul without counting the freebies that the casinos give you for playing. If you count the value of the freebies, a few more games, like Baccarat, Craps, Pai Gow Poker and some slot machines have generous enough odds that you can actually come out ahead playing them. The book is very specific about exactly which games you should play and how to play them, as well as which games are strictly for losers and can't be beaten regularly.

Before you take your money to the casino, you should read this book so that you don't get plucked like a chicken and don't look like an idiot. It doesn't guarantee that you WILL win, but it shows you how to get the best odds so that you CAN win.

5 comments about Cutting the Craps Out of Craps: Now You Can Win at Casino Craps!.
  1. If you want to "cut the crap" out of your craps this is the book to do it, "Now you can WIN at craps" the book says, and its true. It tells you what the really bad bets are (and why) like PASS AND COME BETS, the bets all the other gambling authors say to make - these are BAD BETS and he tells you exactly why! He tells you the BEST bets (and why) AND taught me how to chart the tables! PLus there is a real interesting chapter on eighteen ways to win but only 6 ways to lose! As I said before a lot of good info is packed into this book - if you want to read something different from the rest, study and apply what he says - and you will cut the crap out of your craps!

  2. Anyone who is serious about playing craps should read this book. I would especially recommend this book to new players and anyone who has never played before but is considering playing craps. After reading this book, you will know more about craps than 90% of the players. Only 1% of long-term craps players are winners. This book will definitely help to put anyone in that 1% group.

  3. A lot of good ideas in this inexpensive book, I especially liked the material on charting.

  4. I learned a lot about the technical aspects of craps from this game. For example he explains all about place bets and how sometimes two pace bet wins are more profitable than fuve wins - unbeleivable but true, he proves it. I also learned how to chart the table - using both mega charting and Super charting. He shows you the REAL pass line percentage on points AFTER the come out - it is a lot higher than you think! Other than place betting there's not too much systems-wise but this is a valuable book if you want to really know the game and gain confidence in your play.

  5. Not so fast. Using the methods in this book may keep you at the table longer, but as with every system in every craps book, these are eventual long term over all losers. This book will explain parts of game very well and may give the inexperienced player some new confidence, but for the rest of us, forget it.

5 comments about Craps: Take the Money and Run.
  1. Take The Money and Run is a great introduction to craps. The book explains the basic game play as well as each of the bets commonly available on the layout.

The book is a little less than coherent, however. It is divided into separate chapters, each covering some aspect of the game. But the chapters don't bind their content well enough to let the reader quickly learn the game (or that particular aspect of the game) in a single read.

I frequently find myself wishing I could remember a particular bit of advice, only to have to search the book for the tidbit by reading cover to cover.

The author points out which bets are good and which are bad, and does so for almost all the bets on the table. Further, he presents a few schemes for playing -- simple methods you can use to play along at the table instead of relying on hunches and guesses. This is invaluable inforamtion, as many of the most popular bets on the table are some of the worst!

In both cases -- but particularly for the discussion of schemes -- the author doesn't discuss the math involved in figuring the house advantage. Instead, he simply presents a number. I think that stepping through the computations would help readers develop better insight to the game and the different systems.

Despite these shortcomings, this book is still highly recommendable and helped me become a competant intermediate craps player after years of "hiding" at the blackjack tables.

  2. The first 5-chapters were enough to earn me $100 in 10-minutes at a San Juan Casino. It worked like clockwork, almost magic. And I did just what the book said: "I took my money and ran". Looking forward to trying my luck again.

  3. This book will be your foundation for developing your method of play and money management. It has descriptions for playing simple and advanced methods. You should still buy another book or two to really see other view points. This should be the first book you buy to learn craps.

  4. I purchased this bookd a while back, and read only the first few pages about the rules of the game, before going to Atlantic City (the first few chapters take about twenty minutes to read and absorb). With it, I knew enough to enjoy the game with my $50. About a year later I went back to Atlantic City, and once again read a few more pages of the book (it is really a quick read, but I spent most of my two hour drive talking and hanging out with my friends), using what it taught me, I more than doubled what I was gambiling within an hour before I had to meet up with my wife and our friends(and considering it was only $50 dollars at a $10 table, that is pretty da** good)! My friends and I are planning on going again in a few months, and this time, I plan on finishing the book (which, even at a slow pace, should only take an hour or two to read from cover to cover) and I'm sure even if I don't walk away with a signigicant amount of winnings, that if I follow the book, I will DEFINITELY have fun, be able to stay and enjoy gambiling at the craps table for awhile, and even in the worse case scenerio, walk away from the table feelign good and satisfied.
This book is a MUST for those who want to learn to play craps and how to best succeed and enjoy it. However, if you don't know anything about craps, trying to read the entire book may be to much to swallow all at once, so I would suggest reading the first few chapter, and then either going to a casino and watching for a little bit, or go online and try a free website where they don't use real money, but you can play "mock" crap games like one would play a computer checkers game verus the computer.
I don't know how much this book will help advance players, but like I said, if you never played, and just want to learn enough to enjoy the game and have the best shot of walking away with some money, BUY THIS BOOK!!!

  5. Good book for a beginner wanting to learn the basics of Craps and easy stratagies to win. I read the book in a few hours and was able to apply his strategy and money management techniques very quickly. I applied what I learned by playing craps online and was able to "win" $1,700 in one session. Looking to go to Vegas soon to apply what I've learned at a real craps table! I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn all about the game. It's not as scary as it looks.

  1. One of the best overall reference books on craps, as worthwhile for the more advanced player as it is for the beginner. No serious craps library should be without it.

  2. If you have no idea how to play craps then i will say as all other books it explains the basic bets etc. The problem this book had, along with many other craps books i have bought is that 70% of the book is basic craps primer, 10% are about stories of big rolls, 10% is about comps and casino management and about 5 pages are about actual strategy to use while playing the game.

Drumroll please, the big strategy that will make you tons of money can be summarized in 3 sentences.

bet the pass line with double odds. After each Pass win without a loss, press the bet up. At the end it has you betting something like $500 on the pass and 1000 on the odds bet. here is the problem:

In order to get to that level the shooter, get this, has to make something liek 11 points. I have seen some shooters make 5 or 6 points but 11 is very very rare.

    This book in a sentence:

After each pass with double odds win press your pass and odds bet. if you lose on 3 shooters go home.

  3. I became acquainted with Silberstang's writing way back in the 1980s and his basic ideas do hold up. You will not really learn an advantage method in this book, but a betting system that does cut the house edge to its minimum. Silberstang's writing is crisp and clear, his experiences show that he is a player, and his knowledge of the game for random players is top notch.

This is a good book to start your craps playing career.

Frank Scoblete: Author of Golden Touch Dice Control Revolution!

  4. It has really helped me understand the game. I was playing it all wrong. Haven't tried the "Come" stragedy, but will try it soon.

  5. Okay, I had played craps before but I was not an expert by any means. I understood certain basics but wanted to learn more, and even a system or strategy. I picked this book and it provided everything I needed. The background is well described and most importantly points out the bets that a standard user should stay away from (i.e., the bets in which the odds are not in the players favor). The strategy presented (for playing with the dice) is very comprehensive but easily described. Personally, I wanted something simple that I could remember in any state of mind. :) Regardless, this system single-handedly paid for my trip to Vegas for a buddy's wedding. I never played high-roller tables, nor did I make extreme bets (in my case). The system allowed me to maximize my profits and minimize my losses while the table was "hot". If you are interested in learning craps and using an easy system, this is the book for you.
