1. It was very rudimentary, but useful. Many of the words were english words said with a punjabi accent. eg "good morning" for "good morning". In that way, it could have been better.

1. This book is about a leopard who is very proud and his name is Osebo. I liked it when Achicheri (the tortoise) trapped Osebo in his drum. Then Achicheri took the drum with the leopard inside to the sky god, Nyame. A python, an elephant and a monkey all tried to get Osebo's drum, but they failed. But Achicheri got the drum by tricking Osebo. It was a great read.



2. I bought a total of four books from this website a few weeks ago, three from Amazon and one (stupidly) from a private seller. The books from Amazon were inexpensive, mint-condition, AND they gave me free S & H as well! I am learning Punjabi and Hindi (just a few languages from India) and this book was perfect as it has dialogue, which helps you learn even better than just reading from a narrator's point of view. It's just a great deal and I am extremely happy with it! I happened also to buy this book during a bad weather week that we had, and still it came in two weeks, which for free S & H is wonderful! Good job Amazon, and thank you.

1. I use this as a supplement to a college Punjabi course and it works well for me, helping me to work with the material learned in class and allowing me to get a firmer grip on the language.



2. A good place to start, but not the most extensive reference. The University dictionary is better.



3. This book could be a good reference for someone who is more advanced in the Punjabi language. Simply look up the Punjabi word and learn what it means in English quite easily and quickly. I did not find the colloquial expressions the back cover says it has. The book is divided into two parts, one half is the Punjabi to English dictionary and the second half is English to Punjabi but written in Gurmukhi.
   
   If you know the English word and wanted to learn the Punjabi equivalent, well, this book is definitely not helpful unless you can read Gurmukhi. For me, a beginner, I found the book did not serve my purpose, and was not what I expected. I did buy this online, and the seller highly recommended this as the best book for any first timer who wanted to learn the basics. It is a thick, heavy book and not easy to carry around. I will probably give it away and search for a dictionary or reference book that is written entirely in English.
   
   I think the book, which really is a dictionary, is an aid for the Punjabi speaker. I did find 'Learn Punjabi in 30 Days' taught me a good number of phrases and useful expressions set up in a simple method. That was a great start for me.



4. I read the Gurmukhi script and finding a word in Panjabi was really easy, but I found that the balance was not good: 11,000 words from Panjabi to English, and 14,000 from English to Panjabi.
   
   I couldn't do the translating assignments my teacher was giving me. I was missing a translation for 30% of the Panjabi words ... He strongly recommended the Patiala University Dictionary and I bought it online the same day I returned this one to Amazon ...



5. I needed a Punjabi/English dictionary because I tutor a Punjabi woman in ESL and needed a few words to be translated.
   This dictionary doesn't translate phonetically, but in Punjabi script! The woman is illiterate in her native language so that's no help, and her husband, who also speaks Punjabi informed me that most Punjabi speakers in Pakistan don't know how to read that script either!
   A waste of my dollars.
