- A great book for learning how to work with Pointers. I own a Vizsla (hungarian pointer) and this book has been a gret reference during training exercises.

- Cliff Boggs has been working with Vislas for some forty years, and his depth of knowledge is well worth any hassle you may have to go through to get a copy of either editions of his book . The chapters on history, and the pictures of early Vizslas are an education in themselves. This was the first book I bought on Vizslas back when I had just my first dog. While there is probably no perfect breed book(it would be too big to read)both of these books, edition one and two have breed information that any vizsla owner should have at their fingertips, especially if thinking of showing, trialing, or breeding. I recommend you get this, read it cover to cover, and then go out and buy all the other vizsla books!

- This book is relatively informative, but it is somewhat short and the format is not too interesting. We returned our copy of The Complete Vizsla for The Versatile Vizsla.
- This was my first Viszla book, ordered through a magazine. I expected color pictures inside, such as the one on front, or the ones in other dog books (about other breeds) that I own. All of the pictures were black and white. The text was informative, but boring. I'll probably return it.
- This book is a must have for someone who is interested in the background of the breed but it is not an easy or fun read. More of a reference book with old, sometimes grainy photographs (there are some bizarre ones like a V-dog happily holding a dead cross fox in its mouth). The hard core V-dog lover will want this for the bookshelf but I don't take it down to look at all that often. If you are looking for a book on Vizlas that is contemporary and full of color photos and advice on how to deal with this high maintenance breed in the modern world - this is not the book for you.
- This book was extremely helpful to me when I got my first Vizsla Dog. It answered MANY questions for me on some issues I was rather confused about or just didn't know at all. This book is not really "fun" to read or look at but it has wonderful information in it

- This book was pretty good for general information. If I was going to buy just one book, however I would buy Versatile Vizsla by Marion Coffman. It is very detailed and full of good information. It does cost a little more but it is well worth it. This book is also good for general info if you dont have the money to spend on Versatile Vizsla.
- Our Vizsla is now 12 weeks old and this book has helped us emensely. He is obedient, friendly, loves his crate, does not have seperation anxiety and is almost house-broken! This book is our Vizsla bible.
- A great starter booklet for dog lovers wanting to know more about the Vizsla breed.
- There is a lot of information in this book. Some of it appears to be outdated, but what can you expect from a bargain priced book with a publish date of 1998. I was surprised to find that the book's stance on "shock" collars was "These devises are generally not required for training Vizslas if proper obedience commands are taught at an early age; however, for the unruly student or one that is slow to respond to obedience or field training, electronic devices may be useful." I can't imagine using a shock collar on a family pet for any reason. Most reputable trainers will stress the importance of positive reinforcement and not negative/punishment.
That said there is tons of info in here and for the price it is a great start for someone interested in the breed.
- This book provides a basic overview of the Vizsla. It offers helpful tips on training that can be applied to any dog. If you are looking for a book that really gets into the actual breed, you may be disappointed with this book.

- I came across this book when we had our dam bred for the first time. It is a wealth of information for the new Vizsla owner that I wish we had discovered years ago.
I plan on ordering one for each of my new owners to have when they pick up their puppy. It has detailed photos and information about the anatomy of the breed, as well as lots of photos throughout. It's a great size to keep handy.
One "cute" thing...there is an area in the back inside cover for information about "My Vizsla" for those people who have lots of time on their hands! Great history of the breed as well.
- Great book. We had a litter of Vizsla puppies and gave one to each new owner. Lots of good info.

- If you are looking for a book that answers questions about Vizsla's you haven't even thought of yet then this book is for you. We paid a good price for our first Vizsla and therefor we wanted to make sure we had the best information about the breed; to include personality, care, and training. We got so much more with the Versatile Vizsla. It truly is the ONLY Vizsla book you will ever need!
- Very well written book which covers many of the necessary things you need to know before getting a Vizsla. I would recommend it to anyone considering a Vizsla!
- I was so disappointed with this book. It talks about many things you should NOT do with dogs. For example, she instructs owners to have puppies eventually graduate to sleeping in bed with you. She discusses how Vizslas will jump up on you because of their love for you. Obviously she isn't thinking about the fact that jumping is common in every single dog and is a result of overexcitement and is in fact a dominant behavior. Most of the behaviors she justifies as inherently "Vizsla" is within every dog, which makes this "Vizsla" book kind of lame. She encourages excited dominant states of mind through and through.
There was an interesting part about the history of the breed, but most of this book is information you can just look up online, and the rest is silly pictures that say things like "Vizslas love kids!" What well-balanced dog doesn't??
I would recommend far more a book by an actual dog behaviorist. They are the ones who recognize what is going on behind a dog's behavior, the reason, and how to speak their language to correct it. I recommend anything by Cesar Milan, or another I bought that is extremely helpful for any dog owner is "Leader of the Pack" by Nancy Baer.
- This book is great for novice and expert alike. It is a "must own" for the Vizsla lover. Love all the great pictures too!
- Decent book on the Vizsla breed. Nothing too detailed, but a good overview of the breed and general care. If you're planning on getting a Vizsla, it's probably worth the investment to read this book.
