- This book is expertly written regarding the content the author chose to focus on. By that I mean the book does a great job in covering the history of the Siberian Breed as well as the prominent Husky breeders. As an owner of Huskies who is just getting to begin the breeding process, I was looking for an informative book for the do's and don'ts, how to know for sure when your bitch is is season, the average number of puppies in a litter, etc. In short, a book on practical matters. This book devotes a very small portion of its 500+ pages to things of that nature. I must say though, I have not found a Husky book that covers that focuses on this subject. The author does a thorough job of what she does cover, and does it in a way that makes me feel proud to be a Husky owner.
- A wonderful pictorial history of the breed. I especially admired the inclusion of pedigrees! Fabulous content. A must have!

- I have to say that as a new owner of a Siberian Huskey I found this publication to be an excellent reference book. Everything from diet, breed history, breed standard, illness's, common problems with Huskys is covered. If someone is looking for the book in the house, it will be referred to as "the husky bible" by whoever is looking for it, brilliant book glad I purchased it.
- I was looking for a book with details and specifics, but this was just a general overview. Lots of good pictures of dogs and puppies but not much detailed info.

- This book is amazing; there are interesting facts about Siberian Husky history [did you know they were turned loose by the tribe that bred them and hunted freely in packs for part of the year?], anatomy [the 'stop', or angle where their snout joins their face, has to be at a precise degree so air can warm up and lungs will not be frostbitten when working in the snow], and tons of useful information for sibe novices and experts alike. I recommend this book ENTHUSIASTICALLY to anyone who owns or is thinking of owning a Siberian!
- Describing the Siberian Husky as being too intelligent, clean, charming and clownish, and mentioning their strong need for company, their greatness in digging up your lawn, ignoring your calls, and loving children, dogs and burglars alike, makes me recognise my affectionate friend in every aspect of this great new book. It provides extensive background on the history of "the little Chukchi dogs", from the people that bred these dogs as an integral part of their lives to their appearance in Alaska sledding races. The book describes how a healthy husky should look, how to be groomed, showed and taken care of. The book also warns of treating huskies as "hairy, little people", instead of wolf-like, noble dogs with a sledding heritage that should rather be trained firmly. When you have always wanted to own a husky, or have purchased one already, the book is an enjoying read about wonderful husky moments, making you definitely laugh when you realise they ALL bolt after the squirrel across the road. It also provides a great guide for those considering purchasing a husky, describing all the needs of this beautiful dog breed. This book is all about understanding your (future) companion, and making them and yourself happiest!
- I purchased a siberian husky 1 year ago and wanted to learn as much as I could about the breed. This book says it all. I have bought several other books, and basically they stink. This book is well written, has beautiful pictures and truely says how a husky is. If you are thinking of purchasing a husky or already own one, and want some help in understanding your dog - this book is for you. Cannot say enough about this book. If I could give it more than five stars I would.
- A very good general background book for the Siberian Husky owner. This book has beautiful color photos. Shows various markings and colors of Huskies, describes in detail Breed Standard + Show expectations. Tells the history of this breed and explains why a Husky may not be the best dog for everyone. The Siberian Husky is a beautiful, intellegent + spirited dog. Reading this book, you can tell that it's author really loves them.
- Wonderful Book, Great Photography, Quality Presentation and Appearance. Good Information, Unbiased and Covers Many Subjects of Concern or Intrests.

5 comments about Togo.
- This book is thoroughly enjoyable and provides a well-told account of the amazing journey to provide life-saving vaccines. By only reasons for not giving it a full five stars were that I thought some of the illustrations might be a bit scary to younger children, and also I thought that the story ended rather abruptly -- it is good, but be prepared to answer youngsters questions such as "Did Togo get the people the medicine?" and "Why didn't Togo get to finish his race?" See also Big Enough Anna, by Pam Flowers, for a very different story that also involves sled dogs.
- This is visually beautiful book that tells a beautiful story. This is a story of courage and strength. Togo's story needs to be told. I even purchased a copy for my son's elementary school library.
- The book is beautiful. My son and I are following the Iditarod race electronically. In order to understand this race, we were looking into the original Great Serum Race and information about dog sledding. This is an eloquently told story based on facts that is fitting for an elementary student. The artwork is fantastic and helps pull you into the brutal winter conditions that is tied to the story.
- This is a wonderful true story about those who should should not be forgotten. "Togo" is a beautiful example of the blessings of sacrifice, love, devotion, and perseverence. Truely a story to touch your heart.
- Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow nor gloom of night will keep this pack of hardy Arctic dogs from reaching their goal!
Togo was a beautiful male Siberian husky who was part of the team who got the serum through to Nome during the Diptheria Epidemic of 1925. His part and those of the other dogs were eclipsed by one famous husky named Balto who led the team during the last 53 miles. Togo had quite a track record. He won many dog sled races and from the time he was 8 months old, showed his independent streak by hopping fences and holding his own as a musher with larger huskies and malamutes.
A strong, hardy dog with a curly tail, Togo plays an important role in history. During the outbreak of diptheria in January of 1925, a desperate plea was sent to the Governor in Juneau, declaring an emergency. A train was loaded with the necessary serum, but snow precluded it from getting through. In those days airplanes had open cockpits. Planes did not fly to Alaska then because inclement weather precluded air lift as pilots could not survive exposure to the extreme cold. The only way for the medicine to get through to Nome was via dog sled.
Enter Togo. The hardy husky, together with his canine team mates and musher Leonhard Seppala brave atrocious weather conditions for some 350 miles to get the medicine to Nome. Togo led his team for several days with no rest until a second musher picked up where this team left off.
The illustrations are masterpieces as well as this wonderful book. It is an important part of early U.S./Alaskan history and will be treasured by all ages. Readers will feel the freezing Arctic air as those huskies and malamutes brave long distances to get the serum to Nome. The dog sled teams got the medicine there several days before the deadline date. If not for these dogs, the epidemic would have claimed many casualties. Togo has rightfully earned his honored place in history and will be treasured for time immemorial.
This book makes me think of the 1979 classic, "Ain't No Stopping Us Now." Be sure to read this with other books about Balto and the incredible race against time during the Diptheria Epidemic of 1925.

5 comments about Child of the Wolves.
- Child of the Wolves is a very adorable story about finding your place and where you belong. Child of the Wolves is about a husky puppy Granite, who runs away after he is going to be sold away from his mother and brothers. While in the woods, Granite finds a wolf pack, and through the rest of the story, tries to find his place within the pack, going from the very bottom and moving his way upward. The story is a cute one, and is recommended for anyone who likes dog books and is most appropriate for children 8-12. However, it may appeal to some older readers as well who are looking for a quick read.
- This book is a vey heart warming book when it comes to trying to fit in. Granite kept trying to fit in and never gave up. That's what made the story so interesting. It was scary in some parts and down right sad in others. Granite was lucky to be taken in by a member of a wolf pack that didn't care if he was a wolf or not. Granite really shows that size and breed dosn't really matter when it comes to living a life.
- This book is about a dog that is going to be sold to a guy who likes sled dogs. But granite the dog is scared so he runs away into the woods where he is found by a pack of wolves. They feel sorry for him so they let him be with the pack. Snowdrift a white wolf. Is like his mom she teaches him to hunt and smell for game. Later in the book no one really likes granite because he is not a very good hunter. But then snowdrift is about to fall off a cliff. And granite takes her out before she can fall and die.
I would give this book a 4 because it was not that great of book. I did not really like the ending because i thought that it just kind of felt like there was no ending.
(...)
- I have always loved this book. It is well-writen and serious and makes the wolves into characters without getting overly human and sentimental about them. Decently realistic in the depiction of pack life this book follows Granite, a husky pup who escapes from man and is adopted by a wolf pack. While the ending is somewhat cheesy the book as a whole is solid.
- Child of the Wolves is an inchantingly magical book. Even though Elizabeth Hall has only wrote 3 books she has mastered the talent of writing and you can espesally see it in this book. Grainite, a Siberian Husky puppy is being sold along with his brothers and sister, but he does not want to leave his mother and his siblings so when the mysterious man that wants him takes him out of his cage, Grainite runs for the woods. He feels alone and afraid until a beautiful white wolf named Snowdrift who has just lost her litter to pochers takes him in and lets him join the pack. There he meets new friends but stioll gets rejected from many pack members who think he will just slow the pack down on a hunt because he is only a dog. This is a wonderful story about a dog that just wants to fit in and be accepted. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves animals and who loves a great adventure in the Alaskan wilderness.

- to a Siberian pet owner, this one is it! It covers basic care that all pet owners need to be aware of. I especially appreciate how Mrs. Kanzler conveys on what to expect in the Siberian's temperment. This book should be given to every new Siberian Husky puppy owner, and anyone considering this breed should read it! The price is definitely affordable. The author is a top breeder world-wide, and she certainly knows her subject.
- Found this book to be extremely informative! Straight and to the point from one of the most knowledgable authorities on Siberian Huskies. Thank you Mrs. Kanzler for such a helpful book!
- I found this book most interesting and useful.I have read it over and over again and i love the pictures.I do not yet own a husky but will in the future so i bought your wonderful book in advance.I have done alot of research on siberian huskies and found your book to be the most helpful!Thank you!
- outstanding pictures. Clear explaination of how to raise and train. Recommended reading for everyone interested in Siberians
- ...I read it! Kudos to Kathleen for caring so much about this very special breed. I was especially touched by the book's inscription, dedicated to certain canine friends: "It hurts so much when you leave".

4 comments about Siberian Huskies Complete Owner's Manual.
- This small book could not have hoped to cover "Everything..." as it claims, but I have found it to be useful on many occasions. It provides a general guide to almost every conceivable situation and concern, providing the quality of advice a new owner needs. An owner of a new sibe puppy will want to supplement this book, so they should consult their breeder-use an established husky kennel, not a backyard breeder-other texts, and their vet. Other topics, like medical/health and diet, will likewise be covered in more detail in other places. Don't stop with this book but do get it if you are with sibe. And hang on to that leash!
- Exellent! Out of all the Siberian Husky books I have read, which is about 6, this one was the most helpful. I have a Husky of my own and if I could say something about this book is that it was so helpful! I recomend it for all want to be and all owners of Siberian Huskies!
- Although relatively small (75 pages), this paperback covers a little bit of everything pertaining to Sibes. From breed standards to training to breeding. For it's price it covers a lot of ground but might not go into the detail one might expect from a larger book. However, for it's size and price I feel it is an excellent book worthy of purchase for any owner of the Siberian Husky.
-
book was excellant, came quickly, and was in great condition.

5 comments about How to Train Your Siberian Husky (Tr-105).
- Training a Siberian Husky is quite a challenge considering the personality of a Siberian. They are playful, independent, and intelligent. You have to take these traits into consideration and go from there. Treats are about the only motivator I have found to get one moving and I don't mean the ones from the grocery store. Very smart, a Siberian will work if she wants to work or provided there is a benefit. If you own one or are thinking of getting one, please read this book. Siberian Huskies for Dummies is also a good choice as well. This book is very short with concise instructions. I think even a mature teenager could manage to train with this book.
- I adopted a 4 month old Husky who was completely out of control. I was desperate to find help. This book contained the answers that I needed to control this pup. Thank you!
- This book would be great for anyone considering a Siberian Husky, or a new dog owner as it contains basic dog care tips and an introduction to training techniques. I was looking for a book with some special hints for training huskies (as they can be difficult dogs to train) and was disappointed. Although the title is 'How to Train You Siberian Husky' a large amount of space in the book is dedicated to caring for your dog - not training.
- This is a fun book to have when you are thinking of getting a HUSKY. Great way to get a idea of what you are getting into and a nice idea on how they will move your life in a great direction.. I recommend it as a first husky book then move the Siberian Huskys for dummies.
- I am a first-time Siberian Husky owner and from all of the information I read about them on the internet I thought it would be a good idea to do a little studying about the breed before she got here. This book is short and easy to read with helpful tips on training and obedience. The section on house training is a little short, but really, besides taking them outside every few hours and watching them for cues, what else can be said about the subject? I made a ribbon dog bell and I'm hoping that this will help train her a little more quickly, but so far she has been doing an awesome job about going outside.
It has been a long time since I have trained a puppy of any breed so it was nice to have a refresher course on training in general and the fact that this book was geared towards training Siberian Huskies made it even better. I finished it in under a day and now that we have our new puppy I am finding myself using it as a reference. Overall, I would recommend this book for first-time Husky owners because based on my experiences with my new puppy, everything I read about them being independent, stubborn, and excitable has been 100% accurate from day one. She truly has been a joy to have, but I am finding training to be a little more challenging than it was for my black lab.

5 comments about Siberian Huskies for Dummies.
- I love this book, I keep it in my bag and read it on my way to and from work. I find myself going back to it all the time and using it as a reference. With a Husky you can never know what they are doing next. This book helps keep a eye open on what they are thinking or plan on doing.
GREAT USER GUIDE.
- I think this is a good book. It covers medical but, only to an extent. The author make a comment about how it's ok to buy from the mall. Those pups come from puppy mills. They may not be in good health and may never had thier vaccinations. Another chapter of the book was dogsledding, gave an over view but, no tips or refrences to help you get started.
This book in my opinion is a ok starter book but, I WOULD NOT refrence it a must have.
- Waste of money, The author doesn't even have a husky. How can a person who doen't own a husky can write a book about Husky. Most of the article is a cut and paste version on how to know and understand your dog in general.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BOOK. IT IS REALLY FOR DUMMIES....
- I bought four other books on huskies (or so they claimed to be on huskies). The information in those books was general info that could be applied to any breed. This book is specific to only the siberian breed. Of course its going to have info that can be applied to other breeds, as does any book about dogs-but I found this book to be the most helpful in explaining why my dog acts the way she acts and what it means. I was hoping for a lil more in depth explanation on why my dog hates baths but that may just be my dog who hates baths and not the breed. Also-it lacked in depth details or tips on how to train stubborn huskies since huskies get bored easily with repetitive training. Overall, I would def recommend this book to any husky owner.
- I purchased this book along with another Husky training book and while I haven't finished this one, I will say that it is a nice compliment to the other book and goes a little more in depth on certain subjects. Overall, I am not sorry I purchased this book or the other one. This book has a great section about the breed standards and history of the breed as well as a lot of helpful information about training and dealing with other animals in the household.
