- Matilda Private Eye: The Case of the Missing Socks
Absolutely wonderful tale of a lovely Scottish lass! Loved it!
- Great story of a Scottish Lass and her King Simon - Great for the Child in your life or the child in you :)
- This is a delightful book for kids and all terrier lovers. I think the "9-12 years old" rating may be a big high. My 8-year-old adored it and it is a "just right" book for her to read herself. I think younger kids would love to have it read to them; by the 'tween years they may be a bit old for it.
- Lisa McClafferty gives readers a witty, charming look into the good-hearted and "innocently" mischievous nature of Scottish Terriers. In this story, Matilda's investigation of missing socks leads the enthusiastic private eye into a magical adventure with a surprising revelation for the Scottish lass. A delightful tale, with beautifully drawn illustrations by Diane Aines; "Matilda" is sure to capture the hearts and imaginations of children and adults alike! I'm very pleased to add this first edition to my nephew's storybook collection (and send copies to friends) and hope to read more of Matilda's "antics" in the future! I highly recommend picking up this gem!!!
- The author displays a refreshing and extremely creative tale of a Scottish terrier and her 'King' Simon. A delightful story, beautifully illustrated, captivating children's attention from early ages through adulthood. Leaves you waiting for another episode!! A must-have for children of ALL ages! I gave it to all the children I know for Christmas.

4 comments about A Treasury of Scottie Dog Collectibles: Identification & Values.
- If you are a scottie lover then this is the book for you! Even though this book isn't published yet I know the care and thought that went into this book. The author is a wonderful person to know and a true lover of scotties. This is a most have book for scottie collectors. It would be money well spent on your part.
- This book contains beautiful pictures of various Scottie Dog collectibles, some with manufacturers listed and all with values. I can not say enough wonderful things about this book. Anybody who is into dog collectibles must have this book. Anxiously awaiting the next edition! The only change I would suggest in future editions is to give more educational information about the manufacturers. Order this book, you will not be disappointed!
- This is a guide to the many items produced with the Scottie Dog (Scottish Terrier)image. The Scottie's heyday was in the 1930's when the registration with the AKC was at it's highest. Also in this same era, U.S. President, Franklin Roosevelt had a Scottish Terrier named Fala, who was world famous. Therefore a large amount of items were produced with the likeness of the Scottie in the past, and of course in the present as well. This book has a sampling of those items in various categories such as banks, bookends, paper products, figurines, smoking sets, tins, kitchen, etc. In fact almost anything you can think of, has at one time, probably been produced with a Scottie on it! This book also gives a dollar value to each item, usually in a range. The text is accompanied by good color photgraphs of the representative items. At the end of the book is a listing of books with Scotties, films with Scotties. The cover is an attractive plaid with photographs of various Scottie items. There has long been a large cult of Scottie collectors, finally there is a guide! One drawback however, is the noticeable increase in price for Scottie items since this book was published as more antique dealers now realize they can command higher prices for these items. Readers should also be advised that there is now a volume 2 in this series.
- Brand new, year 2001, 192 page volume is the 3rd in the series. It features 192 pages with every page loaded with large, sharp, full color photos. There's a nice introduction to the topic. A variety of Scottie collectibles are covered ranging from banks, bookends, doorstops, planters, statues, calendars and advertisements, to greeting cards, movies, and more. If you love Scotties, you'll really enjoy this book. Add it to your library.

3 comments about It Must Be Mary Margaret (Mary Margaret Adventure Stories Series).
- A childrens story about a litter of Scotty puppies and their antics. Plenty of opportunities to discuss the illustrations to your young reader. It's fun!
- My 3 1/2 year old son loves this book! He wants to read it every night. It is so cute and funny! It is a true story about a litter of puppies (especially one in particular - Mary Margaret) and their adventures. It uses repetition that kids love so much and also teaches the days of the week. The illustrations are great too! A bonus of this book is that all the author's proceeds go to a charity!
There is a second book comming out soon about Mary Margaret's adventures in her new home. I can hardly wait! A must have for any dog lovers with children - toddlers to kindergarten or older!!!
- Mary Margaret is a cute little dog who gets into & out of trouble with her adventures. Children might identify with her because she wants to "do what's right".

4 comments about Scottish Terriers.
- This is a great little book about this breed of dog filled with general care to include diet; health; grooming and training as it pertains to the Scottish Terrier. It is filled with lots of nice pictures which help the person newly acquainted with the breed, especially since they are not a commonly seen breed. Very informative and useful book, and one of the few devoted entirely to the one breed. I liked it and would recommend it.
- I expect good pet books to guide me in the search for relevant information. This manual on Scottish Terriers does an excellent job of providing a thorough overview of what this interesting breed is like to live with and if it fits with a prospective owner's lifestyle. For the established Scottish Terrier owner, it offers a handy book on the shelf as a step-by-step guide to feeding, excercising, grooming, training and keeping your dog in good health.
The author, and experienced veterinarian, and author of numerous companion animal books, provides accurate and practical medical advise for owners. I found the criteria for puppy selection (specific, practical clues to sorting out the "most likely to suceed") very useful and the "basic training" tips very constructive in molding a terrier personality into a obedient, fun-loving pet. The book format is well above average--complete, logically laid out, generously illustrated, and arranged to make for informative reading or a quick reference book. Phillip T. Robinson, DVM
- Thank you for your prompt service. Your communication every step of the way was greatly appreciated.
- This is a great first book for anyone preparing to purchase a Scottish Terrier. This book is full of the basic questions in regards to temperment, characteristics, basic vet questions, basic commands. If you get this it will help, it is easy to read and very understandable and with lots of pictures. If you bring one of these little live wires into your home. Good Luck and Great Patience. They are stubborn and wonderfully loyal dogs.

5 comments about A New Owner's Guide to Scottish Terriers (New Owner's Guide To...).
- This book is perfect for the beginning scottie owner, too. Not just the show person. It gives wonderful basic information on what to expect from living with a scottie.
- I appreciated very much this book as it offers a wide array of subject about the Scottish from the day it is chosen to feeding and training all in a simple and pretty way. A bible for any scottish new owner.
- Great information about the breed. This is not just another "one size fits all" dog book with the same doggy content and different breed photo on the cover. Scotties have an unique personality and need understanding.
- There is a tremendous amount of information in this book that's generic and could apply to any dog breed. I was looking for information specific to the Scottie and was largely disappointed. When I got to the page where the authors talk about when your dog gets to 55 lbs. size, my attention waned -- Scotties are around 20 lbs. full grown! In large portions of the book, you could change the title and pictures, and you would be reading about any dog breed. The book also appeared to be somewhat of an 'infomercial.' It's disappointing in a book of this nature when one is directed to pet products by brand name, which I think challenges the credibility and impartiality of the authors.
- The book provides tremendous incite into the Scottish Terrier thanks to the years Miriam Stamm has spent as a breeder, owner and handler of Scotties. In fact, her kennel, Amstamm, is one of the most important breeding kennels in our country for furthering and protecting the breed.
If you own, are interested in or about to acquire a Scottish terrier buy this book. You will not be disappointed. This is a special book reflective of the Scottie as a special breed!

2 comments about The Official Book of the Scottish Terrier.
- This volume is officially approved by the Scottish Terrier Club of America, one of the oldest breed clubs (founded 1900). The book has a large amount of excellent color photographs throughout, as well as black and white photos of early champions. The history of the breed is examined in depth, the breed standard, sections on champions old and modern. Bloodlines of some of the major dogs are also examined. There is a complete chapter devoted to the professional handlers who have campaigned the Scottish Terrier in the show ring. The book also covers choosing a pup, some breeding information, and also some other unusual activites such as obedience (who says terriers aren't obedient! ) and there is even a wheaten scottie who has police training mentioned in this book! Mrs. Lee previously authored a book on raising and whelping puppies that is considered one the best books available on this subject. She has been active in this breed showing, breeding and judging in AKC conformation. The front cover of the book is very attractive with a plaid ribbion, the offical seal of the Scottish Terrier Club of America, and a large color photograph of Champion Blanart Bewitching. For anyone interested in the "diehard" this is THE indispensable book both in the detail in the text and the lush photography. There is a wealth of information for both the pet owner and the show enthusiast.
- This a wonderful book on the Scottish Terrier and is a great addition to the library of any fancier of the breed. I have not read a better accounting of the breed's history and development and the breed's character. The pictures are some of the best you will see in any dog book. The pictures also feature many of the late and great dogs of the past who figure so prominently in many pedigrees of the best Scotties of today.

1 comments about The Guide to Owning a Scottish Terrier (Guide to Owning).
- As a long-time breeder of Scottish Terriers, I first bought this book for myself, as well as several other same-type books. This book, however, I found to be very complete and thorough for new owners of Scottish Terriers. This breed of dog is not your everyday lab. and requires specific knowledge. I have a lot of confidence in this book that goes out the door with every pup I sell to a new Scottie owner. It offers all a new Scottie owner needs to know about the dog type, breed expectancy, feeding, grooming, and training, etc., as well as general dog ownership information. A strong five stars.
