1. This book is the most complete than it exists. It talk everything about the samoyed Speech on the history of the race, the pattern, nutrition, how a specialized judge to be in the race, how to select a puppy, how to train a samoyed, how to do grooming and triming, etc. Congratulations to the author of the book.



2. This is a very informative guide with many wonderful pictures of of Samoyed puppies and blue ribbon winners. The reader gets a real feel for the progression of the breed and of what makes a Samoyed so beautiful. The book gives a well researched history of the breed and the book is amazingly thorough. It covers every conceivable question about the breed. I got a knewfound appreciation for this dog. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in these breathtaking animals. Beware that after reading this book you WILL want one, I assure you.

1. This story shows that dogs can give more than love. The painstaking (not painful) process involved in making a dog hair blanket is depicted in this delightful story about Nikki, a Samoyed, who over much time sheds enough hair to be spun and woven into a blanket. It's a fun book to read and includes basic spinning instructions at the end. (An expensive spinning wheel is not necessary!) It also includes data about the real blanket, how long the project took, how much yarn was necessary, etc. A dog hair yarn sample comes with the book. I've read this story to kids at library readings and brought along raw dog hair as well as the strand that's included in the book. They love the story, aren't so sure about touching the raw dog hair but are totally awed by the dog hair strand. This isn't just another dog book; it's a dog book with a twist, so to speak.

1. Quite simply, the best guide to the Samoyed I've seen. It will be a welcome addition to the adoption kits we give to new owners of rescued Samoyeds! Regardless of your involvement- breeders, rescue, new owner, seasoned veteran - this book is a must have. It's well-written, informative, and contains plenty of helpful illustrations. 2. This is a very informative books, that gives you all the essentials of keeping a Sammie in a clear and concise manner. There might be more comprehensive books out there on the subject, but this one is really god for the beginning Sammie-lover!



3. I've done a ton of research on Samoyeds, Huskies and Malamutes, and this is probably the best book for the money that I have come across. It only cost me a total of I think $8.00 or so to have it shipped to my door and it contains a surprisingly lot of information for its small size. Seriously interested people will probably want to get another book to supplement this, but this is a really good place to start for someone interested in learning about Samoyeds. Its affordable, covers a lot of areas, and has a lot of color pictures. I would definitely recommend this book.

1. Illustrated with fine black-and-white photographs, The Savvy Samoyed is an excellent introduction to the white, double-coated, plume-tailed, exceptionally intelligent Samoyed breed of dog. The Samoyed is a demanding canine breed, whose beautiful coat requires daily grooming, whose large stature requires a broad fenced-in area for exercise, and whose keen mind needs something to do all day - the Samoyed was originally bred as a working dog. Yet the rewards of love and companionship can be bountiful for those ready to devote the their time and energy to proper maintenance of this splendid breed. The Savvy Samoyed's chapters include information on the many different working careers the Samoyed can pursue, the mechanics of a dog show, and advice on overseeing Samoyed whelping. More than just another dog care book, the Savvy Samoyed is a superb tribute to this wonderful and gorgeous breed.



2. As the owner of one of Remington's boys, (Remington being the Savvy Samoyed on the cover) this book has helped us greatly. We have read and now use it as a reference to any questions or problems that may come up during this wonderful puppy stage. It covers everything from the time they are born, to breeding, to the time they become show dogs and beyond. The pictures are great and some are quite funny. This is a beautiful and loving breed of dog. It is very interesting to know what their background is and where they come from. Also interesting is the chapter on spinning with Samoyed hair. It is great that the book tells of how they speak and have a language all their own, and how helpful they are to people in need. It is quite clear the love and knowledge that Pat (the author) has for these dogs. Best wishes to you Pat, and best of luck to all Samoyeds and their owners.



3. As the Samoyed is considered the oldest of the domestic dog breeds, Pat's book tells their story from the beginning. This beautiful, intelligent breed needed their story told. "The Savvy Samoyed" tells it well, completely and with good humor. This should be required reading for anyone wanting a Northern breed of dog.

1. Reluctant readers will actually clamor to read this book aloud to others because of the howls of laughter that ensue. Jack, in his exuberant love of life and canine innocence, is a most engaging character.



2. My 9 year old sons and I have laughed ourselves silly reading aloud this book. The author does a wonderful job of getting inside the mind of a big goofy yellow lab. Jack's "voice" could fit every labrador I've ever met. The boys could easily read it on their own, but reading it aloud is so much more fun. Even kids who don't like to read would have a hard time putting down this book.



3. I bought this book for my 7 year old daughter at her school book fair, along with several other paperbacks. She devoured it and kept insisting that I read it. I said ok, thinking I want to encourage her love of reading and knowing how much fun it is to recommend a good book to someone so you can then talk about it when they are finished. I did not expect to enjoy it so thoroughly, however! I laughed right out loud, highly recommnended it to my husband when I was finished, and read it to my younger son soon after I had finished it the first time. I laughed while reading it to him, too! If you've ever wondered what the heck a dog must be thinking to do what he/she does, this book is of tremendous help. I often find myself thinking in Jack-terms when dealing with our 18 month old Chocolate Lab. I just purchased the next Jack book and thought I'd take a minute to add my positive review of the first.



4. I came across this book in a Goodwill pile and paid all of 49 cents for it. What a gem! I read several chapters in the car before I left the parking lot and laughed out loud! Brought it home to my 13 year old son who finished it faster than any book I've known him to read, and just lent it to my adult (over 50) male office mate this morning. He and the book have disappeared (hmmm) so it must be reminding him of his older yellow lab. I don't know which is funnier, Jack or the cats' commentaries. I am not even a "dog person" and think this book is a lot of fun. You know that dogs must be thinking this sort of thing, and cats as well. I recommend this book to anyone, any age... it is a hoot. And I am glad to see that Jack has written another book recently!



5. This is a great story told from the perspective of the dog. The unconventional format was enlightening to our child who is used to reading stories told by little girls or other narrators.
