  1. This book is well written, and includes every aspet of Border Terrier Ownership. Vertie doesn't recomend borders to everyone (witch I have seen many books do) and she puts a major emphisis on not buying any dog on whim. There is also interesting facts and stories about the breed. Did you know that Border Terriers where James Herriot's favorite breed? This is an exelent book that I would recomend to anyone who has or wants anything to do with this breed!

  2. This book is a fantastic introduction for anyone new to the breed or considering the breed. It gives information about the history of the breed but gives information about border personalities and issues

  3. This is a fine comprehensive guide to Border Terriers. The author is English, appropriate for writing about a breed that is far more popular in the U.K. than in the U.S. Anyone thinking about acquiring one of these dogs as a pet should take the time to thoroughly read this book as it presents both the enormous rewards as well as the requirements for having a successful experience as the owner of a Border. Every aspect is covered, including the importance of stimulation for a breed that will happily curl up at your feet as long as there is some time in the day devoted to giving both physical and mental exercise to these intelligent and independent dogs. We liked the look of the Border Terrier on a dog show, read this book, found a breeder, and six years later, our Molly is a delightful part of our family.

  1. The misleading title suggests that this is a book for anyone who owns a border terrier, but it is primarily aimed at those interested in competitions. It includes an extensive dscription and history of borders which breeders might find useful, but this is not a book for owners of companion dogs.

  2. This book was good for the history of the breed and the breed standard; however, it was not very helpful for me as an American show-dog owner since it's a British book. Also, the drawings showing various faults were not very helpful.

  1. My Idea about the book is that i like it alot.I like it because I like animals.I think people that like animals would like the book.Somthing I do not like about the book is it is like a kids book.It is long but the words are a little to easy.So If we have a nother book asinmentI think I may read a more harder book. But not to hard but just a little more difficalt. And work my way up harder then harder.I think you would like the book because the fact that it is about a dog.But i think you would not like it because you could read it in like two days.Thats my idea about the book.

The book is called Terrier in the Tinsel. There is a girl named Mandy Hope and both her parents are Dr. For animals. Her mom Emily Hope is working on a pis named Peaches,he is pretty, with rosettes of creamy fur.Her dad Adam Hope is working on a Santaland for the Hospital.Christmas is in four days and the santa outfit is not fitting him. They live somwhere warm because they never had a white Christmas.Mandy was going to take a walk but then she spotted a small brown-and-white Jack Russel Terrier.Mandy got closer but then he would just back away from her.She tryed talking to him but then he just ran away. She told her mom and dad they said they could not do anything.Three days later they saw the dog again.Mandy took it to the Hospital with her parents. They said she is fine.FinallyAt the end of the book the dog did not belong to anyone. There was a girl in the Hospital. She did not have anyone so they gave the dog to the little girl. The dog was put into the Santaland. He was a Raindeer. That is the summary of the book Terrier in the Tinsel.

  2. I was amazed at how fast it was delievered to my house. The book was also in great condition.

  3. Animal lover Mandy Hope, and her best friend James Hunter can't contain themselves as they countdown the days until Christmas morning. But with only four days left until the big day, there is tons of work for the two pals to do: namely, help set up the Santaland at the Walton Cottage Hospital. After all, Mandy and James are lucky to have the opportunity to spend the holidays at home with their families, but for the sick patients at Walton Cottage, the only celebrating they'll be doing is in their hospital rooms. So Mandy and James, along with Mandy's Gran and Grandpa have taken on the duty to do the decorating, and Mandy's father, and resident Veterinarian at Animal Ark, Dr. Adam, will stop by Santaland on Christmas Eve dressed as Santa to hand out gifts to the children in the pediatrics ward, and give them a bit of holiday spirit. But when Mandy stumbles upon a little Jack Russell Terrier in the hospital parking lot, her Christmas spirit goes out the window. The weather is so cold, and the terrier must be hungry and frightened, yet he won't even let the patient Mandy approach him. At around the same time, Mandy and James befriend a young boy named Charlie Kingston, who is recovering from bronchitis. Charlie is full of energy, and volunteers to help Mandy and James set up the twinkling Santaland, but sometimes the exuberant boy does nothing more than cause trouble. However, when Mandy learns how much young Charlie loves dogs - especially terriers - and introduces him to Gran's meals-on-wheels friend, Percy Green, she realizes that sometimes a boisterous little boy, as well as a slightly ornery old man can make the perfect pair - especially when it comes to Christmas and animals.

It has been years since I've sat down to read one of the ANIMAL ARK books - which I devoured one by one when I was a child - but since taking time to do so, the magic I used to experience when I was younger when delving into one of these delightful books has returned. Mandy Hope is the same lovable heroine I loved all those years ago. The twinkle in her eye, her jovial spirit, her willingness to help anyone in need...each and every quality is still there, shining brightly. While James Hunter is still his semi-mischievous self - trying to take charge of his out-of-control pup, Blackie, listening only to his growling stomach (which is always begging for food), and taking orders from the large and in-charge Mandy. Together, these two characters create a dynamic duo that is absolutely impossible to resist. Ben M. Baglio has brought his signature trait to the forefront, as well - introducing a new character to not only help Mandy and James, but who can be helped by the two friends. TERRIER IN THE TINSEL shines like the brightest star on the Christmas tree.

  1. This is a great starter book for pet owners of Border Terriers. Actually it is the only one I've been able to find which is strange given how popular they are in the movies and television. I currently have a wonderful Border Terrier. I purchased this book after stumbling across it at the book store after a year owning my BT. Given my year of experience, I can say that author was right on the money about this breed. The author covers many pratical aspects of the breed and puts it out there for the reader without boring you with too much needless information. If you planning on adding a BT to your family, this book will point you in the right direction.

  2. I found this book to be a helpful, basic guide about Border Terriers. It's nicely illustrated with color photographs. It's not real preachy, and would appeal to any border terrier owner. Good grooming tips and a helpful health section on care and identifying potential problems. The author seems to genuinely love the breed and seems "spot-on" regarding the breed's behavior characteristics.

  1. This book was one of the best books I have come across for dogs and border terriers combined. I was very imformative on all subjects (History, Characteristics, Breed Standard,Puppy Infomation, Training, Health Care, Senior Infomation, Showing, and Behavior). I do however advise this for singularly Border Terrier owners simply because all of the training tips, feeding tips, history and breed standard are all for this breed in particular. All of the infomation is clear and understandable. There are color photos through out (and that was something I was looking for!) and it was generally a wonderful read. It showed how to groom your border and clean him up each week. I advise ANYONE looking for a book on borders buy this straight away! It is a life long, practical, and highly comprehendable book for all ages.

  2. This book prepared me for my Border Terrier puppy. We have her now and I refer to the book when I need to and it's very helpful. I highly recommend this book to anyone considering a Border Terrier. They are wonderful dogs!
