5 comments about Anatolian Shepherd Dog: A Comprehensive Owner's Guide.
- This is a very good book that relates the history and characteristics of this rare breed of dog. As the owner of an Anatolian Shepherd, I found the information herein to be helpful and accurate. This is a wonderful breed and the book is a great reference for owners and would-be owners.
- Anatolian Shepherds are big and beautiful, an unusual breed rarely seen. I have been interested in having an Anatolian companion for several years and recommend this book highly as it gives a clear look at the dog's unique personality and the somewhat different training needed by the breed.
- Very informative on the Anatolian Shepherd breed. Hard to find information in book form on this breed. A great find if you have this type of dog.
- Don't waste your money. This book describes an anatolian as a cute fun house pet. They are not the best house dogs, the few that might be are an exception. This book does not guide you to a training or owning a LIVESTOCK GUARDIAN dog. More of a book for a house fluff dog. Ridiculous instructions on puppy training. tells you never to strike your puppy, just tell him no. He must never have come across an alpha anatolian testing your leadership! A smart rap with a newspaper is not to be found in these pages. So any unsuspecting fool buying this book for their first anatolian shepherd dog will be in for a hard road if they follow these lame instructions and have an alpha type dog. Treats don't work well on a working anatolian shepherd dog/puppy and this book is filled with 'treat style' training.
- The Anatolian Shepherd Dog is a beautiful, large dog with a personality that one would be wise to "research" before getting one. This book does a good job providing the information to the owner of such a dog (or prospective owner) to make for a good relationship and a happy dog. The Anatolian Shepherd Dog is primarily a working dog - yet this book looks at them more as a "pet." This should be kept in mind when purchasing this book. Still, there is good information even for those wanting to use these dogs as flock guardians or in some other work capacity.
