5 comments about The Matrix Revolutions (2-Disc Widescreen Edition).
- 'The Matrix: Revolutions' is the final installment of the Wachowski brothers' Matrix trilogy which, when viewed on its own merit is a remarkable action movie, but of very poor quality when considered in its proper role as the final episode of this modern epic. In Revolutions, which is set to take place immediately after the conclusion of The Matrix Reloaded (Widescreen Edition), Neo is in an apparent coma, having been imprisoned by a rogue program, somewhere between the Matrix and the computer network that lies outside of it. Trinity and Morpheus must free Neo from his state of mental imprisonment so that Neo can rescue Zion from the imminent and massive attack from the machines that was only hours away in Reloaded. Smith, the agent Neo destroyed in The 'Matrix,' continues to gain power so that he begins to not only threaten the Matrix, but Zion and the machine civilization in the real world, as well. Neo is forced to make a series of important choices in how to best proceed so that evil is defeated, Zion is saved, and humanity is finally freed from its invisible state of bondage.
Written and directed by Larry and Andy Wachowski, 'Revolutions' unfortunately continues the disappointing trend begun in Reloaded where nicely mixed classical philosophy is blended with the modern world and the role of technology as a storyline, combined with amazing direction, innovative camera techniques, and wonderful coloring, is abandoned in favor of a painfully-lengthy series of very contrived fight scenes and little in the way of plot or philosophy. While the heavy use of special effects continues in Revolutions, their effect is to only enhance the action portrayed, rather than to help further the plot. Essentially, what the audience is left with is dependent upon what they expect from this movie. For those who wanted to see a grand capstone to the saga of Neo told in the same spirit as The Matrix there is only disappointment, as the Wachowski brothers have once again failed to capture the same energy, innovation, and intellectual appeal present in the original film, instead resorting to a weak plot and lots of special effects. For those who wanted to see a very good action movie, their expectations will be met, and likely exceeded. If the inconsistencies in plot, lack of intellectual content, clichéd dialog, and disappointing understanding of history (the machine city has its very own Maginot Line that worked so poorly for France during World War II) can be ignored, The Matrix: Revolutions may be enjoyed as nothing more than a remarkable action movie.
If these issues are the antithesis of what appealed to you about The Matrix, do not bother wasting your money to see this film in the theaters; wait for it to be released in video stores.
- This movie is just one great film. I like it better today then when it first came out. And DON'T listen to the doofus reviewer that precedes mine. She is simply wrong, wrong, wrong. I think that when the film first came out, each had their own expectations of how the trilogy should end. If these expectations weren't met, they criticized the film. I did to some extent back then too but today I have flip flopped like John Kerry. Rewatch the film with no expectations and you'll love it!
- I love this movie and bought the full screen edition and like it much better than the letterbox format.
- i found this concluding chapter of The Matrix trilogy much better than
the second installment and probably better than the first one.this one
was more coherent and made more sense story wise.plus there aren't as
many drawn out repetitive, and absurd fight scenes.this movie is
actually pretty exciting, particularly during the showdown between Zion
and the sentinels.but this movie, like the other two, borrows heavily
from other sources, most notably the Alien franchise, and the biblical
parallel is once again very strong.there are some logic gaps, and things
that don't make sense, but at least the story wasn't as muddled.to
me,this was the most satisfying of the trilogy.for me,The Matrix
Revolutions is a 3.5/5
- I remember when this film opened in the theaters worldwide to tremendous excitement and anticipation. It was written up in newspapers, people took off work to see it when it opened the first day. Theaters were sold out and lines were unbelieveable. And then the let down and dissappointment that followed. When I went to see the film, the auditorium for this movie was empty. And the movie had only been open less than a week. And it was easy to see why. The ending of the movie was a terrible dissappoinment. Real life is tough, I like happy endings in my entertainment, and I did not get it here. I was waiting for Neo to save the day, to reunite with his lover, to either overcome the machines, or to negociate some sort of peaceful co-existance between humanity and the machines. The wonderful idea, played with in the first two films, that there was, within the machine complex, programs that had gained invidvidual conciousness and action, who wanted to go on existing as individuals and make peace with humanity, was not brought to any kind of fruition here. Neo died without purpose. The lovers are lost forever. The human race was not saved--the machine world was. The machine world will continue as before, with humanity being used as living batteries. The free city of Zion, while not totally destroyed, is now no longer secret, and secrecy was their only true defense. The machines now know where Zion is, and can destroy all free humanity whenever they become too much trouble. Where in the first film, it seemed that Neo was humanity's hope against the machines, it turns out that the machine had used Neo to preserve itself. He dies for nothing; his sacrifice, humanity and love gone to waste. He dies to preserve the machine world. Personally, I would have preferred that the human race perish than continue forever in this world as fodder for the machine complex. And what in the world happened to the character of Morpheus? Morpheus was strong, dignified, a powerful leader in the first two movies. In this one, his character has totally changed. He bearly appears onscreen, and when he does, he is fearful, weak, ineffectual and completely useless. Others take over the leadership role and Morpheus is religated to the background. Nothing comes of the terrible sacrifices that he suffered. And the action sequences in the film really did nothing for me. In one scene, the rogue computer program Agent Smith appears as a plodding giant in a stylized cityscape---for all the world like the Staypuffed Marshmallow man scene from the Ghostbusters!! Doesn't it occur to anyone in Hollywood that a movie with a happy ending sells better? This movie ranks in the same dissappointment range as the third movie of the Pirates of the Caribbean does.

5 comments about The Ultimate Matrix Collection (The Matrix/ The Matrix Reloaded/ The Matrix Revolutions/ The Animatrix).
- Everything you wanted to know about "The Matrix" is in this 6 cd set, and the price is very cheap.
- I purchased the video collection for my son for Christmas and he was absolutely delighted! I received the product at my home quickly. I cannot review on the product itself; as I have not seen the collection. Shopping at Amazon is something I will definately do in the future!
- THIS SELLER SHOWED IMPECCABLE PROFFESSIONALISM AND THE PURCHASE WAS SENT IN THE TIME THAT WAS STATED. I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE THIS EDITION. I AM PLEASED TO HAVE THIS IN MY COLLECTION.
- This is a great thrilogy, great actors, great directors, great writers, and great story, this are the best movies, ever, talking about ciencie fiction, or relogion??,
- I am a huge fan of the Matrix and a huge fan of DVD's [I own this set and the individual DVDs as well] I watched the entire set over a span of three days. The "special features" are filmed more as documentaries. It was also fun to see Adam Savage [from Myth Busters] as a prop builder. My only critique, I have never like the cardboard folders that DVD's come in as opposed to plastic cases. I have removed my set from their original packaging and repackaged them in actual DVD cases.

5 comments about Tron (20th Anniversary Collector's Edition).
- The MCP is Dilligers AI chest program. Dilliger sudden rise to power in ENCOM allows him to establish the MCP as the handler of all security and interfaces.
The MCP has become 1,200 times smarter than its initial Artificial Intelligence programming. Dillinger has rose to Senior Vice President by plagerizing Flynn's video game programs. Flynn's is fired but continues to hack the system looking for a file that will reveal that he is the owner of the video games. The MCP plans on taking over military systems and claiming the ability to run the systems more efficiently. The MCP lets Dilliger, he is insignificant and if he doesn't cooperate he will be replaced.
Flynn is managing a video arcade business and hacking the ENCOM system. Flynn breaks all the arcade game scores and can play games better than anyone else. One of his programs called clue is caught by the MCP and dissolved. The programs are semi automomous agents capable independant decisions but receive directives from their users. The MCP then contacts Dilliger than tell his about the breach in the system.
The MCP tells Dilliger that "Flynn is becoming more clever" and to shut down all level 7 connections to prevent access to a secret file that the MCP has been hiding.
Lora decides to warn Flynn about Dilliger's attempt to trap him. The group break into ENCOM and Flynn hacks the system from a security level 6 terminal.
The MCP controls power to programs in the system. The MCP has a humanoid digital face. While Flynn is sitting at the level 6 terminal talking with the MCP, the MCP is activating a digitizing molecular laser; the MCP digitizes Flynn into the system.
Flynn meets TRON and RAM, but they are unaware that he is user. The user is the designer and has all the answers. TRON tells Flynn that his user has devised a way to free the system from the MCP.
Flynn fights Crom using his identity disk and defeats Crom but spares him, however, Sark terminates the game and Crom vaporizes. In the light cycle race Flynn, Tron, and Ram managed to escape the grid; the group is discovered, shots fired at a bridge, and Flynn and Tron separated by void; Flynn rescues RAM and escapes; Flynn meets bit, who can say either yes or no and they fly to I/O tower; as Ram dies, he asks Flynn if he is a user and Flynn confides that he is a user; TRON and RAM are surprised to learn that users are plagued with uncertainty; RAM dies vindicated in the faith of the user to direct the system.
Tron finds a program written by Lora called Yori; Tron communicates with Alan through an I/O Tower and receives instructions on how to destroy the MCP; Tron and Yori depart on a solar sailer to the MCP but are captured by Sark; Tron defeats Sarek telling him, "I'm strong then you are"; Tron then tries to defeat the MCP directly but his identity disk is blocked by the MCP shielding; Flynn jumps into the MCP stream and disrupts the shield and Tron destroys the MCP.
- I know a lot of reviews have been done on this movie- as I am typing this there are 22 pages worth of reviews on this movie but it doesn't matter who get to see this review - this movie is a rare treasure for those who likes to be creative and stand out from the rest of the public. For one thing, it uses as its background a type of 80s computer graphic not seen in any movies since after - bold neon colors on a grayish to black background similar to computer and videogames played from that period. By compare, there are 50 or more cowboy movies that are made based on a actual period that last less than four years for the Wild West theme or on actual events like the apache wars which last at least 10 years (I'm not sure exact - I'm not familiar with that period - just bits of facts from that period). The numbers of movies based on 80s theme computers may numbers less than five. There are enemies that break up into polygons like triangles, rhombus instead of dust or other methods and that give it a unique experience. It will also show those who have been born after the 80s an experience of what that period was like.
Actually I was introducted to the movie after playing the game, Kingdom Hearts 2 for Playstation 2 - I didn't know it exists because I was a little kid back then and sci fi wasn't my thing.(I'm a late comer)
- Back in its time this was the most compiscated Disney Movie every made. Before the release of Narnina and the newer stuff came out. When and ex computer executive tries to hatch into the computer to prove that his boss stole credit for video games that he designed. He is thrown into and adventure that rivals that of the Digmom movie. Can Flyn and his program tron stop the evil MCP his minion spark and Dilengers. Find out in this thrilling 1980s features from disney. If you like this I also recommend Cloack and Dagger and the Digmon Movie.
- I can't say enough good about this movie. It was amazing then and still holds my attention and imagination. The effects aren't as good as today but watch the bonus features for this movie, those effects were cutting edge at the time. Amazing to think about what they were doing back then with computers.
- Being from the Atari generation... it's clear to see that TRON was a revolutionary movie. This movie must not be judged by its inherent bad acting, and 'prehistoric' CGA sequences - but rather judgement based on the genious endevour depcting what might occur inside of a CPU assuming that programs, disk utilities, and general computer functions have conciousness.
A must for any techno-dorks like myself that revel in our computer age world.
This is where it all started. TRON. dont miss it.

5 comments about Blade Runner (Five-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition).
- The first Blu-Ray I've purchased/seen. Much greater detail than NTSC or than I remeber as on the big screen at the movies.
- For anybody who considers himself to be either a science fiction fan or a movie lover definitely a must own!! Besides the fact that this is the final and only version of Blade Runner there should have been, this edition covers almost anything you could want to know about the background and making of this film. You can't possibly get more at this price...
- If you liked blade runner before the hi def version will blow you away!!! A+ Buy
- I bought the five disc ultimate edition having never seen Blade Runner before. Then I watched each version, and now I absolutely love it. I've seen all the features save for disc 2's bonus thing.
But here's my complaint... I spent 50 dollars, to get this, and I get two original versions (US and International), a Director's Cut, a Final Cut, and a SUPER DUPER RARE ULTRA AWESOME Workprint Release... and it's all the same.
The cuts have no differences in scenes. The only major differences are sorted into two camps: crappy happy ending and Ford's voiceover narration (US and International), and noirish ending without voiceover narration (everything else).
The other differences are so miniscule you'd barely notice. Aside from digital enhancing and such, they've done little more than tweak and move things around, change some things here, fix other things, "restore" things that you would barely even notice if they didn't boldly proclaim it, fix some dialogue that leaves the fate of the fifth and sixth replicants unknown, as well spending who knows how much money on SUPER DUPER AWESOME TECHNOLOGY just to get Harrison Ford's son to come in, mouth some dialogue, and digitally place his mouth over Deckard's during the scene where he questions the snake dealer, because apparently his mouth didn't originally sync up with the dialogue.
As great a movie as this is, and whichever version you prefer (sadly for me, I hate the happy ending, love the Director's Cut ending, and yet I hate the lack of narration, preferring the feel it gives to the film), it's simply not a very good deal to spend 50 dollars for a fifth version of the same thing you get in four other versions of the movie.
- Loved seeing this again - the visual was better than before and the additional Special stuff was great!

5 comments about Blade Runner (Four-Disc Collector's Edition).
- One doesn't have to care about the philosophical underpinnings of this visually stunning film (made well before the advent of CGI technology) to be entertained by it, because not everyone looks for anything but entertainment in movies of whatever kind. Ridley Scott's objective, however, is never simply to entertain, though he does so superbly well, at least in my opinion. His filmography bears me out.
- There is no other vertion of theis movie to get. if you are a true fan of Blade runner then you have to own this addition.
- This is by far the best treatment this movie has ever seen! You can feel the attention it got!
Now I hope I can sell it to get the Blu-Ray version!
- This is a review of the HD-DVD Blade Runner Final Cut only. To put it in prospective I have the Laser Disk and the Director's Cut on DVD.
If you have an upscaling DVD player then there is not too much visual improvement to the orginal Director's Cut DVD. What has really improved is the Dolby 5.1 sound. The improvement in the sound quality in the regular Director's Cut to a HD-DVD,Blu-Ray, Regular DVD Final Cut is great. The opening scene when the ships pass over the city, first from front to back L, then from back to front,R, are grealty improved in rear sound quality.
Your ears will feel the diference.
- I had been wanting to add this 5 Disc Blu-ray release to my collection for a while now, and finally picked it up during amazon's "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" special. It has been beautifully remastered for this Blu-ray release and I personally like the 2007 "Final Cut" the best! Of course, the original theatrical version is the one folks identify with the most, but hey, I'm open-minded enough to enjoy the sharper, remastered "Final Cut" just as much! If you plan to watch this movie with a front projection system and large screen (110" or more) this Blu-ray release is for you. It doesn't get any better than this, folks! Kudos Warner Bros!

5 comments about The Matrix.
- Last night, I have watched one of my favorite movies, "The Matrix" as I have seen it many times. I would highly recommend this movie, and I am not talking about just the full trilogy. I am talking about the very first one, this one. There is alot of symbolism in this movie and certainly several aspects that would drive one mad and utter turns to disbelief if it were to be true. What if our reality is the Matrix? Don't start looking for the holes on your arms...yet.
Also, there was alot of dailogues between Neo and Morpheus that is memorable, including this one:
"The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it. Were you listening to me, Neo? Or were you looking at the woman in the red dress?"
The woman in the red dress is what we would consider to be temptation. There are those who tasted temptation, lived for it, and will die for it...even though it is a lie. Interesting, eh?
Go out and see this movie. It is surely a must see and there's a good deal to learn from it. But, if you're not into symbolism of the movie, the actions and fights were "awesome," as my inner child would say.
- The Good Things
*Fantastic, ground-breaking special effects and stylish action.
*Intruiging premise, with a storyline that keeps you hooked.
*Good cast of characters; great acting.
*Even though certain influences are obvious, it doesn't necessarily rip-off anything. It's very original in its own right.
*The writing is excellent. Not only is it easy to comprehend, but also has a lot of complex themes concerning philosophy, sociology, and mythology (and perhaps theology, although that is more apparent in the sequels). Each new viewing reveals something new to think about.
*Filming style is excellent, even when the camera is not doing a 360-degree turn. It's fresh, original, and has many strong motifs. The use of colors is excellent as well.
*Now that I've seen it five times, I can see strong continuity with the sequels.
*Awesome music.
The Bad Things
*A little slow for the first half. All of the fighting is more in the end.
*Those who do not like action movies may find this stupid.
I still consider this to be an absolute favorite. Aside from mind-bending action and effects, the story is swell and has lots of awesome, memorable characters. Themes and motifs are strong, and with each new viewing, something new can be discovered. It is even stronger now that the sequels are out, and one can see how all three films work together as a whole. It is constantly refreshing and exciting to watch this, for it is probably the most intelligent action movie ever made. If all action movies were made this way, perhaps Hollywood could redeem itself! I expect that this will become a cinematic classic; everybody should see it at least once in their life.
- I've enjoyed the segments I've seen of this movie, but had yet to see the whole thing. Visually, this movie cannot be beat.
Also, I think Marcus Chong deserved more notable billing for his portrayal as Tank. He made the movie, in my opinion.
The directing is great. The angle shown of the agent dodging bullets differed from the hero doing the same thing, and this added to the suspense and the concern for the hero.
The story is a bit on the dark side, without one conclusively knowing who survived except for Neo (Keanu Reeves). This movie had spiritual overtones that I want to comment on.
In an internet group I'm on, someone compared this movie with the Chronicles of Narnia, and said this movie was more Christian than Lewis' classic series. Having seen the movie, I really disagree.
This movie fits into a relativistic mindset. There are no absolutes. The oracle told Neo "what he needed to hear", but that turned out to be a lie. Neo definitely fits into a substitute Messiah, having skills the others do not have. The ideal, though, is to be antinomian, that is, without rules. This is contrary to Biblical Christianity.
Just my thoughts.
- Before seeing this movie, I didn't even know there WAS a red pill.
Thank you brothers W
- When I first watched The Matrix, I did not understand much of what the movie was about. I enjoyed it.
When I bought the dvd and watched it again years later, I did realise it was a metaphor about awakening, detaching from and looking at the world from a new perspective. The movie contains both Christian and Buddhist symbolism. Neo, the one is the hero who may potentially save the world.
The Buddha quotation 'With our thoughts we make the world' explains the Matrix program that Neo and others are hooked up to fueled by human thought energy. Neo becomes separated and reborn when detached from The Matrix. Now knowing 'the everyday world is an illusion,' Neo begins his training, and joins the resistance.
We can be like Neo. We can free ourselves from 'The Matrix' and develop to our own potential.

5 comments about Cowboy Bebop Remix: Anime Legends.
- So as I said I bought this for my girlfriend who loved this series. And we decided to watch it together. I have long since hated Anime, but this is now a exception. It is truly a great series, and I am very disappointed that there is not more. There is much humor, character development, seriousness, etc...Its just a great series, I strongly recommend you buy it!
- Let me just say that I wasn't a huge anime fan to start with and I'm still a bit iffy about the whole thing but from the way people kept talking about this series I said, "Screw it, take a look at it." I first saw it on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network and immediately got hooked, this series combines the best of space sci-fi and high-paced action with a great plot and interesting characters. Definetely not your average anime that you see every day, it's a definite must see and must have! This new release is a must-have for those who don't own the original boxed set and is a great gift for anyone who loves great animation, stimulating storylines and all the action one can handle!
- I've always wanted Cowboy Bebop on DVD, and this seemed like the perfect chance to get it. I'm glad I did. Everything about this release is top quality, from the picture, audio (you get the original japanese track and the excellent english dub, BOTH in 5.1), cool boxart, and intelligent packaging. Menus are easy to navigate and cool looking as well. I especially enjoyed the commentary tracks on a few of the episodes, was a nice (and interesting) touch. I would recommended this to my friends, and any fan of the show who wants to own it on DVD, you can't go wrong with this collection!
- You have probably heard how amazing cowboy bebop is about 10000 times. It is a simply amazing
You have probably heard how great the music in the show is, and that is probably because it is the best music put in a Japanese cartoon.
The thing about Cowboy Bebop is that it has the formula that makes any story good, it is about the characters, and how they are human, just like you and me. When you can connect in a simple level to characters, because they are fascinating sure, but also because you can see how they act and react to situations that you can relate to as well.
The music plays also a great part in this series, adding another character to the gang( be it the "good guys" or "bad guys")because the episodes are driven by it. it is like music in the Sergio Leone movies, where sometimes is part of the background, making you feel the action or the suspense of a scene, and sometimes is in the foreground as being the scene.
The other great thing about this show is that the sci-fi is not drowning you, the way they pilot the ships makes physical sense , not like say star trek where people press a keyboard and the ship does a loop, it takes place in the solar system, again not making you deal with aliens and things that don't really make sense, because it is a human interpretation of everything that is out in the universe, and the only time it does deal with something somewhat alien it does it in a funny "alien" (the movie) kind of way. In other words, this is a show that if it was transported to a cowboy story with the planets being towns and the ships being horses it would make the same sense.
The only thing that annoys me about the show is that it was not letterbox when it was made thus making watching it in a 16x9 tv a little disappointing, cause you would have to watch it stretched (which looks usually like crap)or having the annoying black bars on the side(which would be the way to watch it) but how could you blame these people for that when the series is from 1998? well I do anyways.
The remix version has 5.1 sound which makes sense since the music plays such an important role in this show, and a few extras that are defenetly worth watching.
If you like anime I recommend this show, if you like music I recommend this show, if you like comedy injected action I recommend this show, and I suppose this is for the 3 people that have never seen it (just kidding...) it is truly excellent.
- First off, yes this has every episode. That was what I was asking myself when I looked at this product. I just finished watching it and it looked great and for that price it's well worth spending the money to get it.

5 comments about The Complete Matrix Trilogy (The Matrix/ The Matrix Reloaded/ The Matrix Revolutions) [HD DVD].
- This review will concentrate on the quality of these films in HD. You probably know what the films are about, if you don't, there are plenty of reviews that will explain them. Personally I love this trilogy. The quality of both picture and sound is AMAZING and really, all I can say is, if you own an HD-DVD player, BUY IT!
- "The Complete matrix collection" should really be named "The Almost Complete Matrix collection".
The package include a redeem code for the Xbox360 that expired the 31.december.2007, therefore you cannot enjoy the Animatrix like the people before you did :(
The HD-material is great, quality of Reloaded and Revolutions are quite better than the first. But hey, the first movie is the best ;)
Sound-vice the TrueHD does play its part, and you should really enjoy this at a high volume so your next door neighbor does not bother you.
Almost 5 of 5 for me; drawback is grainy "filter" on the first movie and that Animatrix code did not work.
- What can I say about these films that haven't already been said. You either love them or at least hate the final 2 movies..The first film, The Matrix is a must see by any Sci/Superhero film lover.
The image quality is great on all 3 films and the sound is fantastic. At half the price this set is a steal.
Get it.
- So obviously the Metrix Trilogoy is one of the better movie franchises in sci-fi genre ever created. In HD it is a whole new expierience! I have never seen such clarity. Sometimes HD movies just don't seem like such a huge improvement but with this boxset you will see it, it's shoved in your face :) The Matrix - lobby-shoot-out is jaw dropping. The freeway chase from Reloaded... you won't believe how close Trinity comes to some of those cars on her Ducati! Revolutions... well that is the 3rd and in my opinion worst movie. The assult on Zion will blow your mind apart with all of the detail you can now see. Passing on this set would be a mistake.
- This series, without a doubt is one of the best science fiction stories ever produced. While it is true the sales for this movie series is less than the block buster Star Wars, it is nonetheless a story with a plot that is captivating. While the acting is not the greatest, it is the story that brings you back to watch it multiple times.

5 comments about Blade Runner (Five-Disc Complete Collector's Edition) [Blu-ray].
