  1. A through review and explanation of the contents of the Koran. A review of the mindless motivation to hate and kill. A book of hate and contradictions. A book, more about secular domination than religion. A guide surperbly researched.

  2. This book explains Islam in a very easy way and you get to the curx of the problem in the religion of PEACE.
This book was needed to understand why in India we have so much problems. To understand Muslims and Islam we need to understand Quran and Islam. This book does a great job.

Great Job .This book really opened my eyes to islam and why so many were killed in india.

To understand the Partition of India and how Islam played the part in it please read the book

The Partition Of India by B R Ambedkar

    [...]

  3. I just finished Robert Spencers' book, and just like his others, it was great. Please ignore Islamic Trolls giving false reviews with one star, THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH..LOL. I have been studying Islam for a few years now and I consider Robert Spencer to be true authority. The only thing in question is the Koran he chose, I would have picked the same translation as he due to the fact most other Koran tranlations' have been whitewashed so Islam could look less hate filled and intolerant. I choose to learn the truth in its purest form and not watered down for the sake of how others would like the Koran to read, religion of peace, give me a break..lol. Thank you Mr. Spencer.

  4. This book will open your eyes about Islam. It is not a religion, it is a cult. Muslims are psychotic . Only a psychotic could believe that God will allow all the Jews of world to be destroyed and the whole world taken over by a cult. The same belief of Hitler. There is a good reason why Nazism was outlawed at the end of WWII in Germany. Because it would have destroyed the world. The same should be done with the Islamic system around the world .I wish people no harm. But, the Koran should be outlawed and destroyed. Jesus wants us to live our lives for him. Allah(Satan) wants his believers to die for him and kill as many Jews/Christians as they can. There is some truth to Islam being the religion of peace and tolerance. Islam professes peace when the world is all Islamic. The tolerance is for killing. First the Jews/Christians. Then the rest of the world. Look at what the peaceful muslims are doing around the world. Murdering, just as it was from the inception of their cult. We should all be vigilant on a Jihadwatch. We must support our officials that will protect our Judeo-Christian values and freedoms or we will lose them.

  5. To make this as coherent, short and straight to the point as possible it is important to note that first of all - most of the other commentators, whom have given very negative reviews on this book have written nothing but Babel concerning how authentic Spencer's claims are. I would not be surprised if most of the people whom have taken the time to comment on this have not even purchased the book.

If a non-Muslim is picking up such lengthy material on Islam for the first time, then one would very much enjoy every notion this book has to offer. Although Spencer has intentionally made the focus of his book to be on the aspects on the Qur'an which are divisive, offensive, homophobic, mysogynistic and totalitarian - this is what should be off concern to most Americans.

Perhaps one of the inspiring things about his approach to expressing himself is that Spencer does not overflow with voluminous pieces of writing but makes his points, assertions and dictates the pace of the book all according to what the reader should expect from a 'guide'. There is little to argue with Spencer concerning the authenticity of his arguments and I believe it is of grave importance to highlight the essences of this book and transform them into a public debate whereby the nature of this religion should be scrutinized.

  1. For years I have been telling people that Christinity would be made illegal and the muslims would do a violent overthrow of our United States, and people have been repeating the muslim lie that the muslims are wonderful and would not hurt a fly. Now we have king obama, a muslim president, who plans on destroying our United States

  2. Some reviewers here impugn the reliability of the book's authors and sources but dismiss the unreliability of CAIR itself.

I actually read this book, and frankly it is a slow starter. Like any investigation of a foreign organization, it contains an alphabet soup of strange names that will have your head swimming. As such, it is somewhat boring ... that is ... until you get to chapter eight, "CAIR's Ten Biggest Whoppers." Here the author uses CAIR's own statements to illustrate its outrageous, contradictory, and sometimes humorous claims. Salient among these is,

    Quote:

CAIR WHOPPER NUMBER 8: "CAIR has some fifty thousand members," [CAIR Communications Director Ibrahim] Hooper contends.[Footnote 18]

In fact, the actual figure is one-tenth that size - 5,1 33 - according to internal CAIR records. [Footnote 19]

After the Washington Times reported in 2007 that CAIR's membership was rapidly shrinking due to negative publicity over its terror ties, CAIR accused the "right-wing" newspaper of "falsely suggesting there has been a drop."

"Our membership is increasing steadily," [CAIR Executive Director Nihad] Awad insisted.

"Support for CAIR has grown," Hooper added. [Footnote 20]

Two months later, CAIR filed a court brief in which it acknowledged membership indeed was down, blaming it on bad publicity from the Holy Land terror trial. It pleaded with the judge hearing the case to strike its name from the list of co-conspirators.

"This negative reaction by the American public can be seen in the decline of membership rates and donations resulting from the government's publicizing of CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator," CAIR attorney Moffitt wrote in the brief. [Footnote 21]

Among the proof he submitted to the court was the same Washington Times article Hooper just two months earlier had trashed as false and biased. Apparently even CAIR's lawyers can't keep up with CAIR's lies.

    Unquote

    Judge for yourself.

  3. An awesome example of how free enterprise beats the U.S. Government, yet again, at doing its job. The Authors are enterprising and passionate people doing the necessary work that the FBI is afraid to do. The Department of Justice hand cuffs itself, voluntarily enslaved to "political correctness," and misses the boat in the fight against terrrorism. The Author's work has saved the day by taking the reigns and handing the FBI a wake-up call, as well as the evidence the govt. should have gathered. This is a classic illustration of how private citizens can, and usually do, make the difference, and how most crimminal investigations conducted by the FBI, rely heavily on the work, involvement, attentiveness, and bravery of common citizens. This book illustrates how citizens must play a bigger role, since the FBI and other agencies can not be counted on to protect us fully. It shows how political correctness makes us (all of humanity, not just Americans) our own worst enemy, and this is a battle that we cannot afford to lose. The Muslim agenda is exposed in this book and needs to be broadcast everywhere. Islam's agenda is not dissimilar to Hitler's, and in like manner, it exploits out naivete, our apathetic slumber, and our political correctness. How many lives werfe lost before we woke up and addressed Hitler's threat? Muslim Mafia is one more alarm call. We must wake up now. Kudos to Muslim Mafia.

  4. Every American Born USA Resident needs to read this book. We are being infected from the inside out, it's time to tell the politicians to WAKE UP! We have wolves among us that will devour us little by little unless the hunted becomes the hunter!

  5. This book exposes the truth about Islamic activities in the USA. This group of people, who have nothing in common with US natives, has determined to change our way of life, abolish our freedoms, as we know them today, and subjugate our nation to medieval barbaric Sharia law. The book exposes massive illegal activities of Islamists in the USA. The book makes it clear that they are dead-set on the overthrow of the US government, with an intent on replacing it with an Islamic government. This is serious reading for those who desire the truth!

  1. This book is big, but it's worth it. By covering such a wide range of time, people and countries the author is able to tie together so much information to give you a full picture of how past actions led to today's current situation.

  2. Ghost Wars is a good book. I recommend it for anyone who is interested in the CIA.

  3. After 171 reviews, there's not much I can add to what's already been said, but I enjoyed this book so much that I did want to share a few comments. First of all, the style of writing is very engaging - sort of like reading one of Tom Clancy's early novels. Second of all, I did not detect any bias (something I'm always senstivie to when I read history). Third of all, Mr. Coll does an excellent job of helping the reader to keep track of the large cast of characters. So, if you enjoy reading spy thriller novels (like those written by Frederick Forsyth), you might enjoy reading about the REAL THING from an author who can write history that is a real page-turner. Good stuff!

  4. I have to consider this book a CIA whitewash. The author, who was an editor at the Washington Post, which more or less tells me he's a system controlled propagandist, got access to "classified documents" and interviews with CIA agents that were on the ground in Afghanistan to the high level guys. He just takes peoples, who should be some of the last on the planet you should trust, word for it. He passes the buck, glosses over or ignores the key facts about Afghanistan going back to the Carter administration. Sorry but I have a much more conspiratorial view of what went on with the Mujhaden, the Taliban and Bin Laden/CIAlqueda than what is presented in this book. I just don't trust this book. The upside of Ghost Wars is it is well written and interesting, almost reading like a novel at times. Also even though this is a whitewash some of what makes it into this book would shock the average American who gets their info from controlled news sound bites so its not completely useless as long as you know your not getting the full story when you read this.

  5. While it is a long and complex exploration of the subject, this book is the gold standard by which other books about US involvement in Afghanistan may be measured.

  1. I always pre-order Flynn's novels and I usually finish them in one sitting, two tops. This was no different, except after I finished it I was a little disappointed. While reading the book I could imagine news commentators delivering the same message as this novel; American citizens are not worried enough about global terrorism. While I agree with this, I read action adventure thrillers because it is an action adventure thriller; I don't want a lecture or sermon.
Compared to some other authors who are writing thrillers with reoccurring characters Flynn keeps Rapp interesting. The problem with this novel is that we have too much Nash and it's not the Mike Nash from his previous novels. The book deals on Nash's problems and his family a little too much.
Rapp knows that good guys have to use the tactics as the bad guys if we are going to succeed in stopping those who want to destroy our country. He's trying to keep us save despite crooked politicians, shortsighted liberals and government agencies who don't know the meaning of cooperation and sharing information. (Sound familiar?)

  2. This Mitch Rapp book is a little less action packed than usual, but the polt involves a timely look at war, interrogation, and politics and the changing political landscape of a prolonged war. If you read then Mitch Rapp solely for the action, then this one might disappoint. But if you can see this for how closely it monitors the current political landscape of the US, then this is a great read.

There is still plenty of twists and covert actions going on to hold a reader's attention. The plot is well developed and realistic.

  3. Flynn hero CIA operative mitch Rapp bags two high-value terrorists in Afghanistan. At the same time, an Islamic fundamentalist cell is about to launch an attack on US soil. Rapp resorts to very enhanced interrogation to get information, too enhanced. He's arrested by the base commander. With precious hours ticking down, he and his colleagues must fight red tape in the form of idealistic members of congress--too idealistic, the book would have us conclude.

'Extreme Measures' is at once a thriller (of the near-upper level fans have come to expect from Flynn) and a surprisingly thought-provoking exploration of whether US covert actions and ideals need be separate. For fans of the genre, regardless of your political and ethical stance, a good read.

  4. This book, like most of them in this series, was an enjoyable read. But also like many of the books in the series, after 475 pages of build-up and stage-setting when the climatic battle takes place Flynn rushes through it in about five pages - basically saying 'The bad guys bust into the building, rush up six flights of stairs, blow open the doors with C-4 explosives, and entering a room full of FBI, CIA, DEA, and Secret Service agents Mitch Rapp shoots 80% of the bad guys dead himself in about ten seconds.' What happened to the sniper the bad guys posted outside the building, or the information that the lead bad guy knows where Rapp's top aide and his family live? Flynn could have written another fifty solid pages fleshing those two ideas out. Instead, they just disappeared.

  5. Mitch Rapp used to be interesting. No longer. Excellent aid for anyone having trouble falling asleep.

  1. I am thirty three years old and worked for a time at a Bible College in upstate New York and then returned to my home state to finish my four year degree. I had ACL reconstruction in 2007. Now I am looking to go into the army as an officer in the next few months. This book really resonated with me and has inspired me to a higher level. I just wanted to thank the author for the book. This book caused me to ask several questions.

What is my motivation? Love of country, desire to help others. Am I committed to being the warrior athlete? I'm pretty sure the author would say it is my duty. The principles are freeing when you get a chance to evaluate and get above the clouds and see life as patterns. I'll definitley read this book several more times. Thanks, Mr Blaber. I'll shoot for the highest goals and remember that life is complex, so I need to be ready to adapt.

  2. I was involved in much of the action in the area of operations in which the majority of the story takes place. After reading reviews here, I thought I was going to find it hard to put down and learn lessons to apply in this "after life." Not so. I kept waiting for the good part, the details of what training and life was like as a Special Forces soldier in the 2001-2007 time frame. The stories need to be told, but I felt it came up short on the details of what it was like... unlike so many Nam books. In those, you learned the ramifications of having a cold while on patrol as a squad, the utility of a p-38, and interrogation technics used against POWs, for example. 'It's in the details.'

  3. It's got plenty of patting himself on the back. Maybe a good editor could have made it a "management" book, by cutting out the self-congratulations and sticking to the theme, but, in the end, i'd recommend it. You can use the ideas, and the stories are interesting.

  4. I realy injoyed this book. I has some interesting pricipals for all aspects of life. Informitive and insightfull, yet plesent to read. I would definatly reccomend this book.

  5. The Mission, The Men, and Me; in that order. Through compelling stories about his time as a commander with the U.S. Army's Elite Counter Terrorist Unit - DELTA FORCE, Pete Blaber illustrates battle tested leadership principles used in the most intense situations in the world. If these principles work for the Unit, they will work for you. If you have any interest in leadership that works you owe it to yourself, and more importantly to your team, to read this book.

  1. One Hell of a Series, Flynn's Memorial Day satisfies my thriller fix one more time. His characters are believable and the action completely enjoyable!

  2. I love the adventure and can smell the gunpowder after every firefight in these stories. Vince Flynn needs to stop writing for 24 and continue the series so I have something to read at the beach this summer!

  3. I continue to really enjoy these novels. Recently found Vince Flynn, I will probably read all of them this year. They are exciting, fast paced and very relevant.....still reminds me a lot of 24.....keep reading.

  4. I've read all of the books in the Mitch Rapp series but like Memorial Day the best.

In each of the books, I am impressed with the detail and the research and how relevant each story is to what is going on in America, even though they have been written over several years.

I hope some version of Mitch Rapp is actually out there, protecting America.

Margaret Marshall Rhyne, Remembering Alexis, Finding Perspective in Love and Loss

  5. I've recently purchased all of Vince Flynn's previous books in paperback so I could read everything he has written in sequence. Memorial Day is another outstandingly written book in the Mitch Rapp series.

  1. This is a great book series. I am about 2/3 way through this book and it's hard to put down. A lot of good twists and turns.

  2. Vice Flynn's novels follow a certain pattern, which I don't mean as a criticism at all. In this novel, the story is fast paced, always interesting, and a very entertaining read. Of course, Mitch Rapp is amazing in his work. What's a bit different in this novel is that a lot more time is spent on Rapp and Reilly's relationship. The communication, what there is of it, is pretty ineffective and immature. It would have been nice if their relationship exploration was as interesting as the antiterrorism/action story. Oh well! It's still a great read.

  3. I have always enjoyed Vince Flynn books. This was one of his best. Delivery was on-time.

  4. The book was in excellent condition and the seller put in a few bucks due to a ring on the cover, which, by the way, I never could find! It was shipped in plenty of time for Christmas! I was very happy with this purchase.

  5. This book wraps up his previous book THE THIRD OPTION. Its a great read and has one of the coolest epilogues I ever read. While you don't have to read the previous book, it will make them easier to understand and truly enjoy.

  1. There was a LOT of buildup in this one, and it just sort of ended. Really intruiging, very fast read, very good story - but the sudden ending was a bit of a disappointment.

  2. I could not agree more with the multiple 1 star reviews. I loved this series before Vince started shilling for the Beckites. Spare me the abortion debates in a spy "thriller". If I want Fox news views I'll watch Fox news. And I don't. I'm done with Mitch and Vince.

  3. Pageturners with locomotive plots and 2-D characters are not normally my thing (see my reviews for evidence), but my friend's mom gave me this Mitch Rapp book as a gift, and I burned through it with a smile. No, it will not win any literary prizes. But I liked that the author told his story his own way, seemingly without worrying about whom he might be offending. The protagonist unloads the F-word here and there, which I would imagine would offend one crowd, and then he turns around and makes an anti-abortion soapbox pitch, which I'd think would offend a different bunch. But, hey, it's a conflicted character honestly portrayed, and I appreciated that, even if the abortion thing didn't really make sense in that context to me. What I'm saying is I didn't always agree with the character, but I believed him as a character, even when I thought he was misfiring.
I'm not a political person, so I just read this as feds chasing bad guys, and although the author tries to shade most folks (one of the terrorists ends up having qualms and turning on the lead terrorist), we all know which side has to triumph in the end.
The author provides inside angles on different countries' intelligence approaches and the secret meetings they have, but one of my favorite sub-plots struck me as decidedly un-thriller-like, and that involved the protagonist's setting up another agent to become a media posterboy, effectively taking him out of the undercover spy game for his own good.
Well done, Vince Flynn. I normally don't bother to review books unless I consider them four stars or above, but despite the fact that its sentences are not remarkably written, this one was cool enough to reviewed anyway.

  4. I've read all of the Mitch Rapp Books; sadly this will be my last.

The unnecessary injection of Right-Wing politics, including abortion issues had little or nothing to do with the story, and ruined it for me.

I'll miss Mitch, Irene and Mike, and can't help feeling that Flynn betrayed his characters and many of his faithful readers.

  5. I like suspense novels and someone gave me this for my first Vince Flynn book. Enjoyed the pace, but unfortunately, it was all so predictable and the characters are so black and white. The evil guys are all egomaniacs, cowardly, craven, psychopaths. Politicians are spineless, gutless and ignorant. (Ok, I agree with some of that particular generalization). The protagonists are all misunderstood and doing just what they can to protect America, athough Nash's silly breakdown seems completely out of character. It's all stereotypes and the right leaning messages are not subtle at all. No wonder Glenn Beck loves it. There's no real surprises here. Bad guys eventually meet their just deaths at the hands of the rogue secret agent.

Anyway, if you like the right leaning comic book style story, then I guess it's great.

  1. It has been said so many times before that it's become a cliché: the events of September 11 2001 changed everything. What is usually meant by "everything" refers to the way the US and its allies treat terrorists and conduct operations to thwart and punish those who aim to hurt and civilian targets around the World. In the eyes of many, including the Bush administration, the previous paradigm of conducting these operations using the essentially law enforcement tools was completely discredited. A different approach was needed, and the overall moniker that this new approach acquired was "The War on Terror." This name has since acquired a whole host of negative connotations, based on the perception of misuse of power on the part of US government as it pursued its own interests around the globe. However, the main point of calling this a war was to enable all the relevant agencies to use means and methods that are more appropriate for the conduct of war, rather than police actions. The fact that this elicited a lot of controversy is not surprising: the enemy in this war did not operate from a controlled and well defined territory, it did not use conventional military structures and identifications, nor did it respect any conventions of war. This was definitely an unprecedented new kind of conflict, and the Bush administration needed to be very creative in the way it conducted it. One of the major decisions that were made was to treat captured terrorists as enemy combatants, and in particular enemy combatants that were not entitled to full protection of the Geneva Convention. This had many significant consequences. In particular, it allowed US to use "enhanced interrogation techniques" that could never be used on civilians caught during a police action, nor even for the regular war prisoners. Until recently there has been no public acknowledgment that these techniques had been used by the US investigators (CIA in particular) primarily because the Bush administration felt that revealing this fact would jeopardize the national security and make those techniques obsolete. For better or worse, Bush administration's decision to reveal the existence and Obama administration's decision to reveal the details of those techniques has made it possible for everyone to make up their own mind about whether or not those techniques were reasonable, ethical and lawful. By far the most eloquent and unapologetic attempt at defending those techniques thus far has come from Marc Thiessen, a former speechwriter for President Bush and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld.

Thiessen's close associations with the President and Secretary of Defense during all eight years of Bush administration make him eminently qualified to present the defense and the rationale for the use of those techniques. In fact, he wrote President Bush's speech that acknowledged the existence of the enhanced interrogation techniques. In that speech (which is included as one of the appendices) and more broadly in this book Thiessen has aimed to defend and justify the prudence, the morality and the legality of those interrogation techniques. He quotes extensively from first-hand accounts of the interrogations, those who were responsible for the crafting and the implementation of those policies, as well as all the documents that have since become publicly available. The book is also very good at pointing out the deficiencies, misinformation, faulty reasoning, and the downright lies of many critics of the enhanced interrogation program over the years. It is hard for me to ascertain how representative those criticisms are, but Thiessen has done a superb job of dismantling them in a clear and methodical fashion.

Tiessen is very forthright in identifying particular political and ideological biases of various actors in this narrative. In the age when "partisanship" is increasingly becoming a dirty word, it is refreshing to see a prominent author label things by their proper names.

The central thesis of this book, reflected in its title, is that the dismantling of those interrogation techniques has gotten us back into a pre-9/11 mentality, with all the possible ramifications that this entails. In particular, Thiessen believes that this outmoded approach invites possible new attack on US and its allies around the world. He presents dramatic and persuasive evidence to bolster his claims. We can all hope that nothing this disastrous happens in the end, but hoping by itself would seem to be a rather reckless approach to the danger of terrorism. Whether or not you believe that the enhanced interrogation techniques are an important and effective tool in the fight against terrorism, it would be prudent to at least acknowledge the unique circumstances under which they were employed. In a democratic society we all benefit from hearing all sides on any given issue, and Marc Thiessen's book is an important voice in the defense of the enhanced interrogation techniques that needs to be heard. This book is an invaluable contribution to this ongoing debate.

  2. I submit this book as evidence what too often happens when someone thinks they know more than they do. This guy was and is the perfect foil for conniving liars like Dick Cheney. Kissinger was infamous for always demanding the best, unlike Cheney who became infamous looking for righteous patsies to take the fall, like Rumsfeld and George Tenet. Theissman has swallowed the Cheney hook so deep I don't think he'll ever experience the eipiphany regarding his own stupidity - hook, line, and sinker.

  3. This is a review of the seller, not the book. I can't review the book because it never arrived. After waiting a month for it to arrive, I wrote to the seller and requested a cancellation and refund. I have not heard from them one way or the other. The email signature was "teetra"

  4. This was an eye opening experience. We need to be on alert. It looks like our current administration is not.

  5. I want to make this recommendation simple: Read this book and when you are finished, go back and read it again. It is a pure slap in the face as to the realities we truly face in the world.

Courting Disaster provides an accurate insider's historical view to what happened, however, the majority of the content is approached as a clarification of what truly happened complete with first hand verifications and it debunks what others had the audacity to incorrectly guess or insinuate, then provide opinion as proof.

Marc Thiessen will force some of you to revisit the revulsion of the attacks on the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, a field of heroes in rural Pennsylvania, the USS Cole, various embassies and consulates around the world through the eyes of the main culprits: those that gave the orders or wrote the plan to kill innocent people, friends and loved ones. He shows how retrieving the future plans from different sources debunks the myth that interrogation by trained professionals will not prevent future tragedies. Sadly, he also shows the current restraints thrust upon those same field operatives lessens our abilities to react effectively or in time to prevent future murderous acts.

Unique to this book is that Thiessen can make you feel the frustration of an administration that must walk the tightrope of keeping our country safe while not revealing how we are doing it because it endangers field personnel. These public servants need anonymity to prevent inevitable events, which most of us need consistent reminding that these events do not happen because our operatives keep them from happening. We ask them to protect us, as long as we include daunting restraints that are unimaginable in a land of common sense. Thiessen makes the reader keenly aware of the real world of which the CIA and the administration must operate.

The only solace is that Thiessen is able to provide irrefutable evidence that shows they had already prevented it from happening. Thiessen ably sets the record straight. There are countless discussions and quotes from outsiders who publicly second guess what is being done. These are documented from articles and broadcasts that reiterate an element of what was missing during all of the events: the lack of true journalism that used to doggedly search for the truth instead of trying to beat a deadline.

Thiessen returns some well-founded respect and dignity to those nameless heroes who must continue to keep the wolves at bay. I would only hope that it also returns some common sense to those who those seek to restrict the ability of our operatives to fight this war.

Read this book and see what truly goes on behind the scenes of the real world of keeping us alive.

  1. This book shares a very interesting and captivating story about the last 30 years of the Israeli/Palestinian conflicts, the experiences of two separate religious worldviews, and the undercover operations or two radically different systems of government. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the Arab/Israeli conflicts or Muslim theology vs. Christian theology.

I have read the few negative reviews of this book and find them unquestionably tainted by the reader's preconceived notions of the history discussed in this book or possibly even by the reader's prejudice against one or the other of the parties represented. They hurl accusations at the author which are unfounded because he simply would have nothing to gain by making all of this up. As anyone who reads the book will see, the Mosab Yousef's life may actually be in greater danger now after having shared this story. And his relationship to his family is certainly strained now as a result of his decision to follow the Jesus Christ of the Bible.

So forget the few reviews, read the many reviews, and dive into this intriguing, factual, previously unknown history of the "Son of Hamas".

  2. "Son of Hamas" has its truths, however, it is not entirely true, which makes it that much more insidious. Like a titillating supermarket tabloid it promises to satisfy itching ears, in this case the itching ears of Christians who want another reason to hate and demonize Islam. However, in reality "Son of Hamas" is little more than political spin, and in a conflict already characterized by hateful, politicized rhetoric, this will only add fuel to the fire.

Christians should be wary of the economic and political motivations behind such writing. Men like Joel Rosenberg, John Hagee, Jerry Falwell, and now Mosab Hasan Yousef play on popular fears and stereotypes, and twist scripture to support political agendas.

For those who want a more nuanced understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, I would recommend a book like "The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy."

  3. As an Israeli who suffered greatly from the conflict, and lost friends because of Hamas and fought fiercely against them. I wanted to create a positive change. Instead of revenge, I have the desire to help both societies to reconcile. Hamas and others add great obstacles and this author TOO!! He increases the deep enmity between Israelis, Palestinians, and the Arab world. The narrative is interesting and complying but this author want a kind of final war between the God of Islam and God of Christianity. It seems that he go against all Muslims who disagree with his new belief in God. ( he now practice Christianity) Watch his interview with Christiane Amanpour at [...]
After this interview i did not finish the book...i do not want to help people who masked humanity with hatred.

Among the people who suffer the most in both societies, feelings of passion and hate are not going to be easily broken. In addition, repeated exposure to violence over the years, coupled with stereotyping and skewed perspectives has overwhelmed the voice of reason.

Yet, this author try to project homogeneous enemy entity while manipulating the mind of many people. Clearly Hamas lie and manipulate its own people and often kill for no reason. It is a terrorist group. No question!! Yet it is not all Muslims.

Television and newspapers as well as this author often present Muslims in such general way that the viewers or readers, think that Muslims and in particular Arabs, are terrorists, although Arabs represent only 20% of the Muslims population in the world.

The perception gap among Israelis and Palestinians and for this mater between West and the Arab world--particularly between Islam and the West--is obvious. One needs to bear in mind that soon, a third of the world's population is going to be Muslim. It is extremely important to understand this topic and find ways to increase multiculturalism and tolerance. There is no single remedy for this, but there are a few options. This book is not one of the remedies...

The author hatred to Islam is obvious and he contributed to a representation of Islam as fanatical and incompatible with civilized western values. This kind of generalization applied only to Muslims, since crimes by other religious people were not put in the context of their religion, but in the context of their citizenship!! Islamophobia
According to BBC just a few days ago "An influential Muslim scholar has issued a global ruling against terrorism and suicide bombing.
Dr Tahir ul-Qadri, from Pakistan, says his 600-page judgement, known as a fatwa, completely dismantles al-Qaeda's violent ideology."
In a statement, Dr. al-Zawahiru, one of the leaders of Al-Qaeda, said, "We are in a battle, and more than half of this battle is taking place in the battlefield of the media."
This author does a great service to Al-Qaeda because he goes against all Muslims. There are terrorists but there are millions more who are kind loving human beings who happened to practice Islam.

There is no doubt in my mind that religions and cultures do try to depart from their patterns of conflict as they face extremists' ideologies among their people. While there is some realization that cooperation between cultures and pluralistic societies is the way to go, there is also bigotry and intolerance among large sections in many societies. This is indeed intolerance. On the other hand, there are various unofficial dialogues taking place around the world as well as between Israelis and Palestinians. However, Muslims who understand and appreciate the West often feel alienated and perceive Western images of them as unjust and biased and this author just push for war.

The social fabric of relationships among both societies is torn apart by decades and generations of hatred. Building new perceptions cannot happen overnight. This requires careful planning to create the mechanisms by which Israelis and Palestinians can meet and work together, but it is the only effective tool for neutralizing radicalization. People need a place to express the trauma of loss and grief, and both societies need to begin to see the human on the other side. Only then can the peace process avoid manipulation by leaders at the extreme ends of the political spectrum.

We need people to speak out louder for peace among ourselves and to our leaders while striving to do so without violence and destruction but rather with love and understanding.
    Here is another example:
An Open Letter and Call from Muslim Religious Leaders to:
A Common Word between Us and You
"Muslims and Christians together make up well over half of the world's population. Without peace and justice between these two religious communities, there can be no meaningful peace in the world. The future of the world depends on peace between Muslims and Christians.
The basis for this peace and understanding already exists. It is part of the very foundational principles of both faiths: love of the One God, and love of the neighbour. These principles are found over and over again in the sacred texts of Islam and Christianity. The Unity of God, the necessity of love for Him, and the necessity of love of the neighbour is thus the common ground between Islam and Christianity. The following are only a few examples:
Of God's Unity, God says in the Holy Qur'an: Say: He is God, the One! / God, the Self- Sufficient Besought of all! (Al-Ikhlas, 112:1-2). Of the necessity of love for God, God says in the Holy Qur'an: So invoke the Name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him with a complete devotion (Al-Muzzammil, 73:8). Of the necessity of love for the neighbour, the Prophet Muhammad r said: "None of you has faith until you love for your neighbour what you love for yourself."
In the New Testament, Jesus Christ u said: `Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. / And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. / And the second, like it, is this: `You shall love your neighbour as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:29-31)

In the Holy Qur'an, God Most High enjoins Muslims to issue the following call to Christians (and Jews--the People of the Scripture):
Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to a common word between us and you: that we shall worship none but God, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside God. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto Him). (Aal `Imran 3:64)
The words: we shall ascribe no partner unto Him relate to the Unity of God, and the words: worship none but God, relate to being totally devoted to God. Hence they all relate to the First and Greatest Commandment. According to one of the oldest and most authoritative commentaries on the Holy Qur'an the words: that none of us shall take others for lords beside God, mean `that none of us should obey the other in disobedience
2to what God has commanded'. This relates to the Second Commandment because justice and freedom of religion are a crucial part of love of the neighbor.
Thus in obedience to the Holy Qur'an, we as Muslims invite Christians to come together with us on the basis of what is common to us, which is also what is most essential to our faith and practice: the Two Commandments of love."

  4. I was reading "son of hamas" on my way from the U.S to Israel. The book is very interesting - giving a unique insight of the way Palestinians live today in the West Bank. Reading the book I tried to put my self as an Israeli in Mosab's shoes as a Palestinian, Muslim and an enemy of Israel. No doubted he did a very brave, challenging and moral decision becoming an informer of Israeli Shin-Bet. I know for sure that the places, events and details given by Mosab (which I personally know) are very accurate.
He gave me a rare chance to see how my enemy looks like and thinks like. He gave me the understanding that on the other side the enemy loves and hates, and in general - on two sides there are people who want to live their lives.
I thank Mosab for the opportunity to love my enemy as a Jew.
This book is a "must read" book for anyone who wants to understand something about the brutal and bleeding region called The Middle East!!!!!!

  5. While 8-year boys in other parts of the world played with toy cars, Mosab threw rocks at Israeli vehicles. By the time he was 18, he was filled with adult-sized anger and revenge, and was armed with military-style weapons. "My father had never taught me to hate (Israel), but I didn't know how not to feel this way," says Mosab Yousef, son of one of the founders of Hamas. (p. 63) He was arrested, imprisoned, beaten and tortured, all while trying to finish high school.

This honest book will grip the reader's heart and stir the spirit. Mosab writes from a unique perspective: his double-agent involvement with both Islamic terrorists and Israeli spies. The information about the Middle East conflict is current, intriguing, and sometimes terrifying. He writes to stir the reader's spirit to compassion for the oppressed Palestinians and Jews. He candidly shares his spiritual journey of how God drew him--a terrorist--to humbly accept Christ as Lord and Savior.

As the oldest son, he had a special relationship with his father and held an important role in the family. When his father was carted off to prison, he willingly stepped into the paternal role in the family. For years, he financially supported his mother and helped raise his younger siblings.

Upon his father's release from prison, Mosab became his body guard, personal assistant, confidant, student, and friend. He was responsible for his father's life--still a high-ranking Hamas leader--and they shared a close and mutually respectful relationship. To Mosab, his father impersonated the side of Islam that reflects humility, love and mercy. No one imagined the tie between this father and son could ever break. Until Mosab met Jesus Christ.

"The old hatred that had driven me to buy guns and to plot the deaths of Israelis was being displaced by a love I didn't understand." (p. 204) Mosab writes further, "As is the case with many followers of Jesus, my public declaration of faith broke the hearts of my mother and father, brothers, sisters, and friends." (p. 243)

On the eve of the release of this book, Mosab received word that his father and entire family disowned him. Mosab could not have penned a more poignant closing sentence to this book: "I love you. You will always be my father." (p. 246)

This is a story of a young man's conflict and terror, and his courage to choose freedom. "Having a loving relationship with a God who would help me love others is not only the source of my freedom but also the key to my new life." (p. 249) What a testimony of the tenacity of God's love and the power of His Word!
