5 comments about Good Morning, Killer (Unabridged).
- I unfortunately have to agree with some of the other negative reviews of Good Morning Killer. I read North of Montana when it came out and loved it, and in fact re-read it to refresh my memory before settling in with this book. What a disappointment! I found myself unable to even finish the book (I basically just skimmed the last few chapters to get the general idea) as it deteriorated into an unbelievable mess. Ana's relationship with Andrew was not developed enough for me to want the details of the inevitable train wreck. While I like April Smith's writing style, this book's storyline was unbelievable. Also, I found myself wondering if the book's events were somehow supposed to take place BEFORE North of Montana, since there was no mention whatsoever of the fling with Donnato and the fact that he was supposedly getting a divorce at the end of North of Montana. And what about Poppy, whom we left dying in North of Montana? After such great efforts from April Smith, including Be the One, this one was a huge disappointment.
- I had never picked up an April Smith novel before, but was intrigued by her lead character. The book had an excellent start, then went horribly wrong. Too many crimes, too many back stories, and a brilliant lead character who turned into a completely ignorant stereo-typical female-running-from-a-killer-in-high-heels victim. My first exposure to April Smith's work, will be my last.
- As a rule I try to read as many authors of the crime genre as I can, whether they are new or established. This novel left me asking myself, "why did I buy this book?" It is rare for me to lose interest in a book or author, but this one has done just that. I must say, I was able to find a new talent that I enjoyed reading. I picked up "Waves of Deceit" by Marlene de Velasco and found her writing style to be quite refreshing and entertaining. She will definitely go far.
- While I certainly understand why this book would not appeal to the average pulp fiction reader, I really enjoyed it because the protagonist was *not* the stereotypical female we've all come to know in the various series that are out there. In fact, I was reminded of Lorraine Page of the short-lived series by Lynda La Plante. I appreciated the fact that Ana Gray was so completely irrational during the course of this story. Isn't anyone weary of the Kinsey Millhones who have such bland, acceptable, if not loveable, faults and are as original as a piece of white paper?
- This is one of those books which, if you pick it up expecting a certain plot line, you'll either be bored because you already know what's going to happen, or you'll be disappointed because you didn't know, and were surprised by where the author takes the story. Ana Grey is an FBI agent, and at the beginning of the story, she's in charge of the search for a serial rapist who victimizes underaged girls. His latest victim, kidnapped from a Santa Monica mall, is apparently only the latest in a string of girls he's run across in several states, some of whom are still missing. Ana and her fellow FBI agents, as well as the local police, must search for the rapist before he does his thing again and victimizes someone else.
Meanwhile, Ana is romatically involved with one of the local cops, a Santa Monica detective named Andrew Berringer. Their stormy, rocky, on-again-off-again relationship is the second half of the story, and I won't tell you anything beyond mentioning that it goes in several surprising directions that I didn't guess till later, though I did guess one part of what was going on. It's interesting though, and the integration of this part of the plot into the larger story of how the serial rapist gets caught is interesting.
While I enjoyed this book a great deal, there were a few plot twists that I guessed in advance, and one of the supporting characters so clearly needs psychological help that it's unbelievable that it wouldn't be afforded them, even insisted upon. This being said, this is still a good and interesting mystery.

- This is a gripping novel that makes you wonder if it is a novel. The author had many years of experience as Agent-In-Charge in several cities, and his insight into "The Bureau" is fascinating. I know this almost firsthand.

5 comments about Aliens in the Sky (Spooksville).
- It normally takes me just a couple hours to read books I think are interesting but the spooksville books just take me about one hour to an hour and thirty minutes without being interupted, I reccommend this book to any of the young teens and pre-teens who like magical jorneys, aliens, witches, and many other weird things.
- This is a good book. I got it for Christmas 1997. Belive me, I'm glad I did, you should read it for yourself. Even if your a skeptic, you'll enjoy this book. Another Spooksville book I recommened is "Night of the Vampire." Go on, read it... if you dare!
- As i said before i enjoy the Spooksville series very much. Aliens in the Sky is a particularly good one. I think Mr. Pike has more to say rather than thrill the readers. More than a typical horror thriller, it shows what humanity will be like in a couple of thousand years. He makes environmentally aware which is also the case in "Attack of the Killer Crabs". Anyhow, at the rate we are going at, i think what Christopher Pike predicted is inevitable, let alone it being a perfect horror story. I half-expected finding an alien by my bedside when i turned over in bed.
- Some weird spaceships landed on Spooksville. Adam, Sally and watch go check it but Cindy can't because she sprained her ankle. Sally, adam and watch met gruesome aliens. They even had a friend who's name is EK. EK is a friendly alien. Lately, Adam and watch were izzy and the next thing they knew they were on a spaceship.
- hi,
These book is very good!
It start when Cindy fell and she hurt her leg and they are waiting that Cindy get well to go home in their bikes. But then the night starts they can't see well because in these night hasn't moon! When Cindy get up she started to explain how she feels but she get quiet when she saw a spaceship! Watch wanted to go and talk with the aliens but when he go the alien want to he get inside into the spaceship, but then Adam get inside soon!
Hey someone that have read the Creppy Creature, Phone Fear or Witch gift can tell me please what happened? Because I live in Mexico and here the book Spooksville finished in the number #21!!

Thank you,
Bye

2 comments about The Baby and Fly Pie.
- When I bought this book I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. It was a quick and easy read but it was very enjoyable. The whole way through the book you are waitng to find out what the three kids are going to do next. I found the end a bit strange and you think "Why did that happen?" and in some parts you end up hating the characters, but it was extremely good on the whole.
- I've owned this book for over 6 years before I read it. I'm 20 now, and found the book in my old bedroom. I decided to read it cause I had nothing else, and finished it in the same night. It was amazingly depressing and tragic. I hated most the characters through-out the book. For being uncaring, decefitful, or too caring and stupid. But it was an engaging book. Even for my age. I almost think it might be too violent and depressing for young adults though. But, if you can handle that sort of thing, I'd recommend it. It's a fast and easy read too.
