- This book is "phat". I have devoured its content as I would a bowl of hot New Orleans gumbo. The flavor of the stories are just as tentillating and appetizing as the authentic recipes. A must have for anyone who's been to New Orleans and loves the food.
- The recipes in this book are GREAT and very easy to follow. It is a MUST for anyone's Cookbook Library. My recommendations are the Smothered chicken, Linda's Little Old Lady Pound Cake, and Barbeque Shrimp recipes. You can't go wrong with any of them.
As a bonus, Ms. Guion adds a personal touch by talking about her life and family. I recommend Grandma's Hands to EVERYONE. It makes a GREAT gift.

- My mother loved this cookbook. Was always using the recipes. Then Katrina came put 10 feet of water in the house and washed the book away. She cried for years over this book. I searched for over three years to find Cooking for Life. The book has been out of print so i had to go to book stores down in the French Quarter, libraries, here at amazon. Hell i even found Alzina's address and number. Talked to her personally. She, herself didnt have an extra copy. So i waited and recently got on amazon and there it was. When i gave the cookbook to my mother, i'd never seen someone so excited about a cookbook. It was a dream of hers that came true.
