- I have really enjoyed this series of cook books. Everything I've made from it has been good. You don't need to do many conversions for the measurements and they have a chart in the back in case you need it as well as a glossary. Some ingrediants will need to be looked up since they use different names. [...]

5 comments about Cakes and Slices ("Australian Women's Weekly" Home Library).
- This cookbook is a wonderful compilation of cakes and slices (bars)that are not too complicated and are based on simple and wholesome ingredients. No matter what continent you cook on, everything you need to know to adapt the recipes is included.
- This book saves the day, when you are expecting guests or organising an afternoon tea for friends. Some recipies are fast and faboulous to make, some are more complicted but worth the effort. Very creative.
- I've baked from this book for more than 15 years. Recipes are simple and foolproof. The cakes may not be show-stoppingly memorable or particularly unique/ innovative, but for a solid, no-fail repertoire of good, homely cakes, this is the book. Recommended.
- I tried to buy this book in Australia and couldn't find it in new or used book stores. It was great to find it in the USA and at a better price too.
- I bought this book as I was replacing a lost copy of the same book. I was not able to buy the book in Australia as it is no longer in print and the newer version of this book dosen't have all of the receipes so I was delighted to find a copy with Amazon. The book was as described, in fantastic condition especially since it was second hand. I recieved the book in a short time to Australia from Amercia. Received much earlier than quoted. The transaction was easy. I would have liked something in the book that showed me where it had actually come from since it was second hand. A name and the place that the person lives written inside the cover but thats me I am a sentimental kind and love the history behind things. Not everyone would like that as they would think that it spoils the book. I'm a very happy customer thanks :-)

1 comments about Easy Australian Style (The Australian Women's Weekly Cookbooks).
- This was one of the first books i bought of the The Australian Women's Weekly Cookbook series. Me and my mother were addicts to the series after that. It is simple, very thick with lots of ideas (meat, fish, chicken, desserts, eggs, vegetables) and the first few pages explain some stuff like how to peel roasted green peppers, how to seperate an egg (with pictures) and different kinds of pastas (not all pastas though) and fresh herb leaves. In the end, there is a glossary of terms and what they mean, including the exotic foods that are not usually your every day shopping food. Metric conversions are also available.
I gave it 4 stars cause im a vegetarian and follow a strict low fat low calorie diet. So the book made me hungry when looking at it. I would give the book 5 stars if and only if this was dedicated to vegetarian book. If only such book exists, i would not worry about having good tasty food to eat for life

- I've only given the book a quick look, but the recipes are quite unusual and sound delicious. The book contains lovely photos of the restaurant which produced these recipes. It makes me ready to go down under!
- A well produced book,it contains a lot of recipes which have ingredients found mainly in Australia.Being an Aussie I can assure you we do not eat Crocodile Burgers or Kangaroo Roast; But if you have an inkling for this sort of stuff, this is the book.

2 comments about Cooking Class Cakes ("Australian Women's Weekly").
- This is a mouth-watering collection for cake lovers. The recipes are quick, easy to follow, and the results delicious - I have never had so many compliments for a chocolate cake, and the hummingbird cake is out of this world. Each recipe gives quantities in cups AND grams, as well as calories and fat per slice, etc. The book is also beautifully photographed. In fact, most AWW books are equally fantastic.
- I've been a big fan of Women's Weekly recipes ever since I was little (having grown up in Australia and watching my mum collect all their recipe cards and books). I started using their recipes to bake cakes as a teenager, and haven't stopped since! I received this book as a birthday present, and it's certainly been put to good use. The recipes are clear, easy-to-follow, with beautiful photos. The very first recipe in the book is for "Lemon Cream Cheese Cake" and it's already proven to be a favourite with my father, husband, niece, and many, many friends! I've actually lost count how many times I've made it in just the last year. The rest of the recipes are also amazing, with a great variety of cakes. You're sure to find something for everyone in this book.

2 comments about Salads: Simple, Fast and Fresh ("Australian Women's Weekly" Home Library).
- The Australian Women's Weekly series of cookbooks is outstanding. The recipes are fairly easy and quick to make, and are often new and different. Most importantly, they are all delicious.
This cookbook is called "salads", but that just means it's food that is served cold. There are a lot of main courses, such as Thai style beef style and Couscous with lamb meatballs. There is a photo of every dish and this helps with knowing how to chop things, as well as with final presentation. At the moment, this is my favorite in a great series of cookbooks.
- I like this series, but of the ones I have, this is not my favorite. The recipes I have made from this were all pretty good. My problem is that many of the ingrediants were not available in my area and it eliminated some of what I could make from the book. There is a large variety of salads and there is also a glossary and chart in the back for extra help. Even though I couldn't make some of the dishes, I would still recommend this cook book.
