5 comments about HP iPAQ rx5915 Travel Companion.
- After having and using this unit for 4 months, here are my thoughts:
The HP iPAQ rx5915 works OK as a GPS. It sometimes aquires a fix in seconds, other times it takes minutes. I find that if you enter the address that you want to go to before you are where it can obtain a signal, it seems like it will never get a fix. I usually shut down TomTom and restart once I am in the car. If I then enter the address it will get a fix fairly quickly.
But I mainly bought this to replace my aging Casio E-125 which had it's own Mobile Calendar and Contact software. This unit, though over 7 years old, typically responds to alarms and input more quickly than the brand new HP iPAQ. The HP has more memory, a MUCH faster processor, etc. But I guess that the software is more bloated or something because when the alarm goes off, it stutters like it's struggling to get the sound out and launch the reminder pop-up. VERY annoying! I didn't like the basic calendar and contact software that came with the unit, to I purchased and installed Pocket Informant 8 which is highly configurable but is still sluggish in responding to commands and alarms. It's a real shame that something so much newer and more sophisticated does the basics so much worse. Also, I usually have to push the on-off button 2 or 3 times to get it to respond. Not sure if this is hardware or software related. But also very annoying.
The wireless portion works OK, but trying to browse the web on a screen that size is an exercise in frustration. It has come in handy a few times, but other than that, I find it to be little more than a gimmick. I guess that if I used it for email it would be OK, but again, I don't usually have to, so I don't.
I would say that the only things to recommend this unit are the brightness of the screen (my old PDA was impossible to see outdoors) and the fact that it is slimmer and lighter than the Casio. Other than that, not much to recommend it and I wouldn't buy it again.
- I have owned this unit for 1 month and have to say I am very pleased with it. I have read alot of reviews and the ones that I have read that were bad are no surprise to me. The people who complained are not technically savy. Their are 1,000's of free applications out there to make this device almost the ultimate tool.
This unit runs Windows Mobile 5. Granted it doesn't have all the nice features of Windows Mobile 6, but you can download just about any application for it and most of them are free! Ex: I have installed MS Live search mobile, very cool app. that gives me the directions, movie times, traffic reports, etc. all via the internet. Another nice app. is Yahoo2go... I get syncronized email and contacts, weather reports, news headlines etc. And finally for video I have a blast with Youtubeplay!
The only reason I give it 4 stars is that it does not have a phone. But I purchased this mainly for the GPS and the Windows Mobile features. The GPS does take alittle while to acquire the signal initially. But you can purchase an optional antenna to speed up the acquisition time (approx. $19)
If you are going to purchase a GPS, my thought is you should get more for your money, and this unit is a perfect match.
- Powerful, convenient, value for money PDA/GPS package. Slightly big and heavy for use as a PDA to carry around everyday, though large enough to display sufficient features for a GPS to be functional. It seems to take a while for the GPS signal to lock in and hold a signal and occasionally the signal is lost while driving despite clear skies and the GPS having a clear view of the sky. The interface is fine, though I think Belkin's GPS software is slightly better overall. I do not like the fact that it does not tell you whether your destination is on the left or right hand side of the road. I also wish the input keyboard was in qwerty format and had an auto-complete feature to save time when inputting addresses. I also wish that it would at least pronounce names of freeways when giving directions. Overall though, it has no competition because of its excellent PDA and above average GPS functionality in an affordable price.
- I have owned this product for almost two years now. It was a very wise investment. If you want a pda/gps/mp3 player all in one, this is the product for you. The only compliant I have is the need to do a soft restart in the midst of do something (notorious for Windows Mobile). Although I have never had the GPS software cause the PDA to freeze. The installed TomTom software is great, but I have had it tell me to make a U-turn on the interstate. Just use common sense while using. Don't mindlessly do whatever the GPS tells you. Merely use the GPS as an aid. I have not had any problems, so I can not tell you if the technical support is good or not. All around great product.
- I purchased this from Amazon Nov 2006. I loved it all this time. But this is not an inexpensive item and I expected to be able to use it for a number of years.
The battery life is very low lasting no more thatn 1.5 years. Not horrible in itself
But this is a discontinued product from HP and is no longer supported by them. They offer no software updates at all.
WORST: The Tom Tom Maps are already out of date on this system. The newest Maps available either from HP or from Tom Tom are dated April 2007 and they will not be provding any more because Tom Tom also no longer supports this.
I have read that you can by a Garmin XT card for $99 and use the Garmin Software instead. I may be stuck with that unless I want to trash the HP entirely but you don't have to be. Buy something more up to date.

5 comments about Compaq iPAQ 3650 Color Pocket PC.
- Very nice machine - I use it everyday. The software out for it is growing. I have owned this machine since Jan '02, and have had no major problems with it. I think it is better than any palm device I have ever used.
Cons: Software - MS still has some glitches... but only once in a while (~1/month) after a sync the machine will 'freeze' and needs to be soft reset (w/no loss of data). Also be aware of another problem other ppl have encountered with pluging in the ear phone jack to listen to music, then removing them and having no sound on the external speakers. This may have been fixed on the more recent devices. ...
- But after several months of owning it, I am noticing some things I don't like.
Pro's: Pocket PC operating system is wonderful. It is just like Windows and has everything Windows has to offer in a little tiny version. I am a programmer, and love the ability to connect to databases with this product MP3. What else do I need to say about that?? Wonderful! Document Library: A specially designated place tos tore eBooks was a wonderful idea! Screen: Crisp and clean. Perfect clarity, much better than the Sony's. Con's: Battery Life: Very short. I need to recharge fully every night and do a restore as the battery dies throughout the day. Size: Very bulky. In today's marketplace I find it hard to believe this model cannot be more compact. Warning: This BARELY fits in the Coach mini-office. Lack of accessories: Try to find a hardcase for this model. Yikes! Without it, your iPaq will turn on on its own, draining the battery even more.
- The Ipaq is a great pocket pc overall. The Good and the bad
Bad- With small amount of memory you can sometimes have a problem of certain programs not functioning properly. Since the pocket pc manages its memory automatically you cant always use your on board memory to its full advantage. The foul part on Compaq is that you must buy accessories for example the carring case you get with it is a sleeve which is tight as hell to pull your pocket pc which means you need to buy accessories and since there is no slot to stick a memory card in you have to buy a new sleeve that allows you to put a memory card in then you got to get the card seperately which all together can run you over another 100 or more which as we know will be more. Which is funny cause you can get a real pc for the price of this. I guess buy now your wondering what the good is: Well if your the type like me that has a lot of appointments on a daily basis and keeps forgetting those important meetings than this is definately for you. Its great because you have many programs that interact with your pc like word and excel plus once linked to your pc you can connect through the net download and whatever which is cool. The programs that you can load are amazing like you can turn your pocket pc from a calculator to a voice command gaming system to even a remote control for any tv stero or vcr or dvd player doesnt matter. I have found it very useful in my newly busy life and a great benefit for reminders. Battery last pretty long even with the color screen I mean if you plan on using it the whole day and plan on doing serious programs on it better bring your charger. Later
- I received my unit via an Amazon Marketplace vendor early. I bought it primarily for trying out the programs I hope to write, and were testing via the emulators that Microsoft makes available for VS2005 and VS2008.
The battery life is my only complaint.
- the person did not say it was a ripoff the screws was missing ,and i still was not able to turn it on and set it up plaese do not send me a request review on this i am very angry the indivindual did not put details on the product summary thank alot sir i hope you enjoy the ripoff items you try to sell ..

5 comments about Palm LifeDrive Mobile Manager.
- It is to bad that others are having such an awful time with life drive. I have had mine greater than 2 years. It has been everything I need with little problems. I like the Wi FI , pictures, and music capibilities. After reading these reviews now I am worried since it seems that it is just a matter of time before something happens to my life drive. At least I won't depend to keep anything permenate on it. My husband got it for me right after my second child was born. I use to spend hours on the internet looking up information while my baby breastfed...it was brillant for me. I viewed all my pics of him on it after I returned to work an while I was on call and missed him. I am now using the music capibilities on it with little problems. It is also nice and mobile to use the internet while letting my toddler play in the yard. It has been a wonderful mobile pda for me. I wish others had a better experience with lifedrive. I have loved mine. It saved my sanity and fed my obcession for my baby while I was away from him 24 hours while on call after I returned to work. After reading these reviews though...my experience with lifedrive seems really lucky. It will be interesting to see how long my luck lasts.
- BEWARE ... do NOT buy this or any palm handheld. I have had both an E2 and this LifeDrive and both have had loving care but both have died within a year . Palm will "graciously" repair it for $150 (plus shipping). so beware ... there is NO quality to be found here ... I suggest you look at a pocket pc or some OTHER device.
- I've been using Palm products since the original Palm Pilot, and I was thrilled with this when I received it. Then it failed. Customer service was consistently superior to Dell's or HP's, but the refurbished replacement they sent me failed. The next refurbished replacement was defective. The refurbished replacement following that was also defective. They finally sent me a new replacement. That one has just failed, but now it's out of warranty. I will not be buying another Palm product again--ever.
- I made the mistake of purchasing this product when it came on the market (and paid approximately $400). I was attracted by the capacity of the drive and the large display. Within weeks of using the device it began to freeze up and crash intermittently resulting in repeated data loss. At times the screen would go blank/"white" for no apparent reason when turned on and would require a system reset. The system reset occasionally would wipe out all of the software I installed on the device requiring me to reinstall everything and re-enter all of the product keys (this required hours of time). After several months of this and MANY hours on the phone with technical support the mini hard-drive completely failed: when the device was turned on it made clicking noises but would not boot (in case you're wondering, the device was handled carefully and had a nice Rhino metal case with foam padding: it was not dropped prior to this event). Technical support from the manufacturer was again useless and after returning the device and receiving a "repaired" version I was faced with the same problems. I was informed that a major "software update" was available ("2.0") which would fix many of the issues: after applying the update stability improved - for a while. However, after two months the hard drive once again failed. This time I was one month outside of the one year warranty (the warranty was not extended despite all of the problems with the device). I was informed that I would need to spend approximately $150 if I wanted to have it repaired. After reviewing my options and thinking about all of the misery I experienced with the device I decided it was not worth the cost of repair. I kept it for a while in the box in my closet, but it made me angry each time I looked at the box: eventually I simply threw the useless item away and purchased a Sony Clie UX-50 (wow, what a difference!). While the UX-50 was discontinued in the US, the hardware is VASTLY superior to that of the LifeDrive (I've had it now for two years without a single problem). It has an earlier version of the Palm OS which is more stable and, although it lacks some of the fancier features of the LifeDrive, I'd never go back. There were rumors that a version of Linux was in development by Palm to replace the unstable/horrible operating system on the LifeDrive - in the end I guess they were just rumors. How corporations like Plam get away with selling junk like the LifeDrive is difficult to understand. My next "PDA" will be an iPhone.
- If you are caught between a TX and a Lifedrive--go with the TX. While the LifeDrive has more room, it is lacking in speed when compared to the TX. The TX is seamless when switching between applications. The LifeDrive will hang and freeze, when switching between applications, for what will seem like an eternity no reset is needed--just patience. Many claim that the system has hard reset many times, wiping out the internal memory, in the time that I've owned it, this has not happened. Ranking order for those wanting a Palm device: LifeDrive is good, E2 is better, TX is best.

5 comments about HP iPAQ 2215 Pocket PC.
- I believe had it not been for the lack of assistance I received from the seller (Not Amazon) of this PDA, I would have rated it a lot higher. Most of the applications and games work fine on the 2215, except for the fact, that it would not read either SD or CF cards from it's card slot on top. I did send my complaint, but never received any assistance as to what to do. One of the reasons for purchasing this particular model, was, so that I could view information or photos from the memory cards. Other than that it's not a bad PDA. I'll get a treo or a blackberry next time.
- I appreciated the excellent response to my purchase and how everything was in order upon receipt. I would definitely purchase from this company again.
The Pocket PC provides so many useful features for keeping my records, calendar, meeting notes on Word, and transfer of data to my main computer. There is more this mini-computer does I am exploring. Be sure to keep the battery charged!
- Excellent product! I purchased mine for about $85, which is a small fraction compared to a new HP iPAQ 2215 Pocket PC retailing over $600. I've had no issues with it so far (1 month).
It's fast, easy to operate, includes many useful programs, and I plan to keep it for a long time.
- This little Pocket PC style PDA has been my life saver for quite some time. Great overall performance and I would buy a HP PDA again. The reliabilty has been outstanding. The optional fold-up keyboard is a great accessory. Too bad that most devices are technically outdated by the time you leave the store, but this one I would even buy used.
- Great: compact size, battery life, screen and functionality. You can't go wrong and if the price is right, even better. Got a great deal on this discontinued model. Why buy a new model if you can get this great PDA at a super price?

- I can do just about anything on my PalmPilot. I like it a lot better than the Franklin Day Planner. Not only that, it's portable so I can write as I go.
- This Palm Pilot Organizer is the original and the best!!!! You Might think i'm crazy you might think i'm not but it is da bomb!!!!!
- My PalmPilot Personal has been working great everyday in the last 7.5 years. It only has minor scratches in the graffiti area. I use lower voltage NiMH rechargable batteries with it so I think it is going to last a while. And it is made by US Robotics, and I get some attention when I bring it out of my leather belt clip case and use it.
- This is still an excellent PDA, but to syncronize with Office it only works through modem. I have since upgraded to a Palm XT.
- This PalmPilot is good at storing phone numbers in Alphabetical order. It has a sensitive touch screen and a bright Backlight. You can get a wide variety of programs and games off the internet. It is Made in the U.S.A!! This palmtop is very sturdy and small in size. The built in touch-screen calculator is very cool. The only complaint about this item is there is only one megabyte of memory. This is a great item!

5 comments about PalmOne m515 Color Handheld.
- After owning my palm m515 for 6 months, it stopped charging. Of course this happened when I was traveling, so I lost all the new information on had entered during my trip. Luckily I was able to reload the old information which I had on my computer. Since it was still under warrenty, I was able to send it back to get a fixed one in exchange. A year or so later, it just stopped syncronizing for no reason. I refuse to pay to speak to a Palm representative, and their website is indecipherable and holds nothing helpful. Palm is only interested in having you buy, but they are definitely not interested in keeping you as a customer. The company is completely worthless!
The Tungston T which I purchased for my boyfriend has progressively degenerated also.
We will never buy Palm again!
- I have been using this for years and have found that I can never trust it to keep any new info. Taking it on the road and relying on it to not crash is prohibitivly risky. I stripped out all 3rd party software including avant go and only use the bare basic calendar, phonelist and notes and still find it crashes WAY too frequently, needing a reset that wipes out everything in its memory untill my next hot sync. Much as I like the functionality that it was designed for, I'm sick of this piece of crap and am searching hard for a reliable PDA.
Hey Palm! How about making a PDA that is reliable and comes with good free tech support for two years (i.e. try not to put your customers on hold forever or charge them excessive fees to fix your unreliable equipment). If any of your competitors do it first I have plenty of money to throw down.
nuff said,
grrrrrrrrr
- I've had about seven different palms and even an iPaq, but so far this has been my favorite. I like the fact that it has a SD slot - I have about 42mb of stuff, and that would never fit on the palm itself. I also really like the vibrating alarm thing. At my school, the teachers will take away any electronic devices that disrupt class, so the vibrate function is essential if I want to remind myself of anything during class. It's also really small compared to most handhelds.
This stuff is all great, but I think the best thing about this palm is how durable it is. My Zire broke when I tripped in the hall, but i've abused the heck out of my m515 and you can't even tell. About a week ago, my friend got mad at me and hit me with a Geometry textbook right where my palm was in my pocket. Those things have like 700 pages and aren't exactly soft and fuzzy. I frantically pulled it out of my pocket, only to discover that it didn't even have a scratch.
Now for the bad stuff. My palm was one of those 'made in china' things, and like other customers have mentioned, the screws on the back started to come out. I figured out an easy fix, though - I borrowed a T5 driver from my dad (who's a technitian guy, so he has all those hard to find tools) and put some super - strength automotive threadlock on the screws. That problem's gone - I just hope i never have to replace the battery or anything.
Also, the m515 is kind of slow. My scripture reading program takes 1-3 minutes to search through my files and find my scripture database. This doesn't seem like a big deal, but when i'm waiting around for 1-3 minutes staring at a blank screen, it seems like years.
I can live with that, though. I love being able to write down my homework on something that doesn't use paper. Plus, I can set alarms in Diddlebug for my homework and then just completely forget about it until after school.
Well, that's probably enough. I highly reccomend this palm to anyone interested in something that will last a long time and organize your life. Good luck!
- I have two Palm m515's, and after four+ years of daily use and syncing, both are still going strong. In fact they both outlasted my Treo 600 and Palm T/X.
This is a great low risk investment now that it is five years old. A great entry level PDA.
- This is a great item. It is great having the card for extra memory and the processor is faster than older models. Excellent on battery.

5 comments about PalmOne Tungsten E Handheld.
- I use this daily for many purposes. I do not use the Bluetooth function, but it is included. not enough memory even with an extra card. Easy to use, and to teach yourself how to use it.
- I bought my Palm Tungsten E (used but in excellent shape) over a year ago. It has been working well, although I still have problems getting it to Hot Sync with my Office 2003 applications.
About 6 weeks ago, it froze, then crashed. Once it was working again (after I reloaded all my information--calendar and contacts), I saw that I lost some of the programs. There is no longer a calculator function.
I pressed the reset button, and lost more applications. I am tempted to go back to a Franklin Planner...good old paper and ink!
- I bought a used Palm from Amazon Marketplace for school, and I am just pleased with it in every single way. The functions were incredible for this little machine. When everyone else had a backpack full of textbooks and PowerPoint slides, I just carried my Palm in my pocket. I had my textbook in PDF and my PowerPoint slides all stored in my Palm. When people are busy writing down notes in class, I just typed away with my Palm and wireless keyboard. When presentations were given, most presenters had a stack full of note card and printouts of their PPT, I had them again in my palm. The Palm also allowed me to play videos and music from my SD disk. And with all these functions, this PDA has a great battery life. It had certainly made college life much easier. I had my Palm for about three years now. It is still running strong. I rarely, I mean rarely die on me. What else could you ask for?
- It was recieved in good condition but unable to download any PDA software, IT would have been nice to have ability to download with windows vista, and even nicer to have gotten a user manual or at least be informed of what was and was not included.
- This is my first PDA, and so far my only one. No problems other than not reading directions (my bad) and when I did finally look up a problem I found it was operator error (me) and easily correctable. Since I haven't had a different PDA, I can't say how it compares to others, but it's easy to use, easy to program, easy to download things, easy to update. Don't know how I'd entertain myself in doctors' offices waiting for appointments or waiting for anything. I play games on it and the screen is bright and clear and easy to read. I download books and music on removeable memory cards and just use it in so many ways. It stores all the contact info I need, with as much detail as I want to put in. I love that I can handwrite notes on it, when I need to write something down in a hurry.. when I suddenly remember something I need to pick up on the way home. I paid about $185 for it about 3 years ago, and it was a refurbished one, so I'd say this Amazon price of $45 is a real deal. It does what I need and so easy to use. Definitely one of my favorite things.

5 comments about PalmOne Tungsten T5 Handheld.
- I bought my T5 in October 2004 as a birthday present to me. I had a IIIxe which worked great (before that a PalmPilot Pro). I didn't NEED the T5 but I sure wanted it and I loved it. It was my portable mini-laptop. With the wifi card I checked my business email at hotspots (and did light web browsing). With the fold-up keyboard I created and modified Word and Excel documents. With software upgrades I used Brainforest outliner and J-File database. With bluetooth I did wireless hotsyncs with my PowerBook and Palm Desktop. I also added addresses via bluetooth to my Motorola V551 phone. I bought the 512MB memory card for backup and storage of large document. And, it was fun having photos, music and teleseminars I could listen to via earphones. Everything worked like it should, I was happy and life was good. Then, after 14 months, it died. Lucky for me I'd bought the extended warranty. Palm exchanged my unit with a refurbished one (their right under the warranty). Everything transferred over and life was good again. Then, 15 months later, it died again. Now it's out of warranty, and Palm expects me to pay nearly $200 for a repair with a joke of a warranty. With the unit, upgrades and accessories, this was nearly a $600 investment. I'd probably pay the $200 if I reasonably expected it would last another year, but I no longer feel lucky with Palm products. And my IIIxe is not backwards compatible. This is a long story I know, but be aware if you are thinking about buying one. Although the T5 is pretty much the ultimate PDA, and SHOULD be reliable, unfortunately it isn't. But hey, if you have money to burn, buy a couple and that way you'll always have a spare. :)
- I've had my T5 now for nearly two and a half years and I am very happy with it. I use it nearly every day for various things (PIM, mp3 player, Sudoku, etc.) and it never really let me down. There are a few more resets than I was used to from my Palm V, but apart from that it's a very reliable and well-designed device which I can fully recommend.
- The fact that it doesn't work with Vista is annoying. I purchased it three years ago. It has survived multiple drops, so I think it is pretty durable. Palm does not keep its software up to date. I still use it daily. I has great applications. Eporates, TCPMP media player, password keeper, and keeps me synced with outlook 2003. I will be replacing it with an iPhone when my verizon contract is up.
- I didn't make a good buy on this but I'm slowly getting to learn how to use it.
- Guaranteed Tech was a pleasure to work with. The order was fast, in new condition and packaged well, and they contacted me quickly by email to ensure my satisfaction. It was a pleasure doing business with them, and I would choose Guaranteed Tech again in the future.

5 comments about Dell Axim X30 - Windows Mobile 2003 SE 312 MHz - RAM: 32 MB - ROM: 32 MB 3.5" TFT - IrDA.
- Ive had this PDA for a year and it has great features. You should also probobly get an sd wifi card if you want good internet access, but they're only like 20 bucks.
- I cannot believe there was a PDA on the market so nice and yet so unbelievability cheap! I am in the medical field of work and this device made my life a whole lot easier.
PROS- It has bluetooth and wireless Internet capabilities
It has windows media player for all your music and videos.
It Syncs with your computer right when you place it on the cradle, you can chose folders that will automatically update when the device is synced.
You can set passwords on all of your stuff.
You can load your pics on to it and set them as your background
And it has Microsoft word, Excel, and a bunch of other cool programs
Cons- surprisingly, I haven't found anything I don't like about it.
I would recommend this to anyone. I loved it so much, i bought my son one and he's in 10th grade and says it helps him with all of his school work.
- I have owned several Axims previously and thought that I would again be pleased with this PDA. The Axim X30 contains all the features I was anticipating and it appears that Dell had improved the unit from it predecessors. The trouble came in trying to get the unit to sync with my PC which is running Windows Vista Home Premium. First, the installation disc does not contain the software that allows you to create the appropriate synchronization links (it is outdated for Vista). You have to go and load Windows Mobile Device Center. After loading the new program I could get the units to acknowledge one another existed but I still could not get the 2 units to transfer data. I found that Dell no longer supports Axim units and Microsoft was no help either. I eventually returned the unit and purchased a Palm Tungsten E2 which, after loading the appropriate Palm software, functions smoothly.
- A very light pda, its easy enough to carry and use to easily review photos taken with my camera with the built in SD card slot. Though i was disappointed that without the bluetooth or wireless capabilities its not useful for much else. Overall its a great product.
- Not as easy to use as I expected. Very difficult to connect to internet.
