- Great computer but DOESN'T HAVE BLUETOOTH!!! Be careful, I fell for the bad product description. Everything else, great!
- HP Pavilion DV6565US 15.4" Notebook PC (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5250, 2 GB RAM, 200 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium)
Love this machine. This computer has many powerful features. The only complaint I have is Vista. I work with it at a high school and all the other machines have XP. Vista would NOT allow downgrading to XP. I am getting used to Vista so not so bad afterall.
- This is a great computer. The computer is very nicely designed with nice glossy screen. Finger print login is a nice security feature and the built in camera works pretty good. Neat little remote that fits inside the computer to control your movie viewing. But the buttons are so small they are hard to push so the movie doesn't always react the way you want it. There is alot of HP and third party pre-loaded software which is a pain since most if it you don't need. I would suggest reinstall Vista if you can. Computer came pre-loaded with trial version of Office 2007. But you need a Product Key to use it. The product key was not included with the computer so I could not use the trial version anyway! Vista is nice but many software is incompatible. Otherwise, I am very happy with the laptop. Plus the price was great with the rebate from HP and Amazon!
- I would recommend this labtop to anyone..It is worth every sent. The hp imprint finish is really nice.Hp really takes pride in manufacturing their items..From first glance you are attracted to the beauty and layout of this labtop..its really a special edition as printed....It is really fast.programs install so fast that sometimes you don't even see the progress bars. The graphics is supberb.I run a lot of graphic and cpu intensive programs like audio editing, video editing,dj mixing. And amazingly I can run all those programs simultaneously without any drop in system performance.and still have an anti virus scanning.the new Intel centrino duo really lives up to its name.you can really do more....the mobile remote fits in the pcmia slot so you can never lose it.The ports at the side are very useful.like the hdmi.Webcam works great and the finger print reader works nice to......I don't know why one reviewer said that it doesn't have blue tooth but this one has it as advertised and it works great..And its just the perfect viewing size to at least watch movies and have a couple of windows opened up at the same time.I give this series a full 10 because I haven't found a single problem with it.

5 comments about HP Pavilion DV2420US 14.1" Laptop (AMD Turion 64 Processor TL58, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium).
- I have to say that thanks to this laptop I am now a true believer in HP products! All of my desktops have always been Dells, but this laptop has converted me to HP for life. The laptop has some wonderful features. My only complaint is that I need a full paper manual. All of the "manual" instructions are in the Help section on the computer, and sometimes I had trouble finding how to use some of the features. But eventually I found the instructions I needed. It's been a very reliable machine!
- I'm not happy at all!
Ok. Long story short. In less then a week, after purchasing this, one of the slots where the screen opens and closes broke off. Tried to fix it, then, the DVD drive wouldn't work! I sent it back got my refund. I re-purchased the same computer laptop, Surprise surprise, dead pixels on the LCD screen. Returned it, was charged a restocking fee. Got another one. For no reason, one day the LCD just quit. Why did I attempt this three times? What was I thinking? Stay away from cheap, low prices pieces of garbage. It looked good. Under $700. 160 GB hard drive 1GB of ram, Dual layer DVD+/-RW drive upgradeable to 2. But, WARNING You get what you pay for, I guess.
- I purchased two of this model of laptop about four months ago. Since then, they have malfunctioned in many different ways. The most significant problem is that the trackpad stopped working on one of them within about two months. That's when I started with the nightmare of HP Customer Service!
After a significant process, HP finally agreed to "repair" the notebook, which took nearly a month. When the computer was returned, the problem still existed. Now, when I talk to HP customer support, they tell me that I have to go through the exact same process again (install drivers, upgrade BIOS, reinstall Windows, etc), and then return the computer for repair again. When will they admit their mistake and simply replace the computer?
- I bought this machine about a year and a half ago. Five months after I bought it, the fun began - and the only bright side to this story is that it happened under warrantee.
First, the DVD drive died. I sent it in, they repaired it, on top of a couple other repairs that they didn't report until after the fact (hard drive going bad, software corrupted). Two months later, the computer no longer booted due to a 'motherboard issue'. They held my computer for 5 weeks, pushing the expected repair date back twice. Finally they just sent me a new computer.
Five months later...the new notebook dies to the same 'motherboard issue'. They explained that it was possibly overheating; notebook wouldn't boot at all. Sent it in; another 4 weeks later I get it back. A month later, the motherboard dies AGAIN, only a little more spectacularly by corrupting the video. Sent it in AGAIN, and I filed a report to the BBB. I received an apology from HP regarding this claim, along with the statement that they were sending it back to me right away. I got my notebook a day later...and got the nice error 'Err1Err3' as soon as I tried to start it up.
I'm talking to one of their quality care specialists now, who is guiding me through the whole 'repair or replace' policy again...basically if it dies again, I'll get a new one. I also pushed for an extended warrantee since it's been in the bleeping shop almost as long as it's been in my house. But I've been told that the first two complaints don't count because even though it was the same purchase, it is a different product. I've been told that I can't get my money back on this overpriced paperweight because it's a repair warrantee, not a refund warrantee. I don't even know if they offer a refund warrantee, but maybe if they did, it'd make them a little more accountable for their products. I've had computers in my house for the last 14 years and I have NEVER had the problems that I've had with this model.

1 comments about HP Pavilion DV9525US Entertainment 17" Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7100, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, SuperMulti Pavilion DVD Drive, Vista Premium).
- First of all, what this laptop does well. Its 7100 (which incidentally gives 1.8Ghz not the 2Ghz advertised in the technical specs) is strong enough for some multitasking and it will certainly serve well enough for movies, and web surfing, even simultaneously. Also, for a laptop this size (17") it boasts a pretty good battery life of well over 2 hours.
What its not is a gaming PC or even a Vista PC. 1GB of RAM is not enough to run Vista in at an acceptable rate. Vista just hogs too much memory. If you get this my advice is upgrade it to 2GB or order it custom built from HP with 2GB (you can get the same features or better ones if you customize the basic dv9500 and it will probably be cheaper).
The regardless, though, current gaming, movie editing or other hardware intensive apps will not run on an integrated x3100. The whole idea behind getting an integrated card is that you don't need much graphics card horsepower so you opt for a cheaper one that is also more energy efficient.
Still, it is a large screen just made for your viewing pleasure at a decent price, so its not a bad PC just one that has certain obvious limitation (like lugging it around daily for example).
P.S. HP has horrible customer service so you had best pray your computer stays perfectly healthy.
