2 comments about AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5600+ 2.8 GHz Processor.
- An AMD Athlon X2 processor is a good idea for a system builder, because it offers two cores using a 64-bit architecture. A comparable CPU type might be the Intel Core 2 Duo processors, which are also two cores using a 64-bit architecture. Just recently, AMD price cuts have brought the costs of the AMD Athlon X2 5600+ CPUs under comparable Intel Core2 Duo E6400 CPUs. Even better, the AMD processor outperforms the Intel processor.
A quick perusal of the CPU charts at Tom's Hardware shows that the AMD Athlon X2 5600+ is now showing much faster than the Intel Core 2 Duo E6400, and with pricing being cheaper, is a clear performance value.
AMD systems offer, in general, a very good alternative to Intel-based machines. For systems builders, be they hobbyists or professionals, the recent price cuts are a good indication that AMD is going to compete in the short-term against Intel to preserve market share. AMD needs to retain its base until its new fabrication dies are being produced in volume, and with it quad-core CPUs to compete against Intel's offerings and once again try to wrest the performance crown from them.
What this means to end users like us is that you can get a more powerful CPU at a lower cost, which is always good. Be sure to get a retail version of any CPU you purchase, as they have longer warranty periods (three years as opposed to three months) and easier return processes.

- Just a replacement PSU for one of the kids machines. It worked right away and it continues to work for a compulsive 13 year old gamer. Good price = can't go wrong.

- My old PS (expensive Antec) crapped out on me and I needed another one for my kids computer. I was a bit leary of this cheaply priced PS. But I plugged it in and hooked everything up and it works fine. Packaging wasn't that great, but everything works fine. Granted, I don't have tons of periphials hooked up in the computer, just the basics for a kids workstation. But all in all it works great and you can't beat the price.

5 comments about HP Pavilion DV6707US 15.4-inch Entertainment Laptop (AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core TK-57 Processor, 2048 MB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium).
- I use a Dell (my work computer) but when I wanted to buy a laptop for my two teenage daughters I picked this one. It seems to have enough features for them to enjoy now, and it probably should last them 2-3 years (seems to be the life expectancy of a laptop, at least for me). They play a lot of video games on it and the processor is fast enough to keep up with the graphics.
My sons all own Apples and usually swear by them, but sometimes (when they play video games) they swear at them. So far I think that I make the right choice with this computer.
- HP Pavilion DV6725US 15.4" Entertainment Laptop (AMD Turion 64 X 2 Dual Core TL-60 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium)
- I was hoping for a little bit better operating speed but the graphics card makes up a plenty for 3D games. I run Flight Simulator X and it runs smooth at all but the very highest settings and then it is only a little jerky.
- This special edition laptop has it all. Price, features, quality..3 months ago I reasearched every brand feature and associated cost and selected this lapatop for myself. Then my wife needed one too so I went thru the same process and still selected this laptop so we bought the second one...for $200.00 less then the 1st. Very happy with these purchases and saved the sales tax by using Amazon.con...such a deal!
- I bought this laptop about a year back and right away installed Windows Vista professional edition. I love this laptop with one exception, the key board is badly designed. The mouse pad is extremely sensitive and it is very common that while type my had would touch the keypad and courser would move to a different location without my knowing.

5 comments about HP Pavilion A6330F Desktop PC (AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core 5600+ Processor, 3 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium).
- This computer (and a Toshiba monitor) replaced my Gateway system. So far it does everything I need and it does them well. I was worried about Vista but the 2gb of memeory seems to be handling it. Great DVD setup, and the price is right.
- HP Pavilion A6330F Desktop PC (AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core 5600+ Processor, 3 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium) This computer is great and works very much to my satisfaction!
- I have owned this PC for about a year now and I am very proud with it's performance. It hasn't failed me yet, no crashes, no freezes, nada. After installing an nVIDIA 8600GT Overclocked Edition I can power through Crysis with full medium level graphics with select ones on high (physics was set to Very High). This makes a statement about both the card and the PC. It plays Assassin's Creed, COD4, The Orange Box, Counter Strike: Source, World In Conflict, Company of Heroes and countless other games on the full Audio and Graphical settings with little or no lag. After installing the card I have found that it lines up with many 1 grand medium level gaming rigs at only a cost of around 700 bucks. Vista works like a charm, as I have said there have been no problems with it. I have a Logitech G15 V2, Logitech G9, Ideazon FANG and a Logitech headset wired to the rig and the drivers have installed fine on Vista while the ports from the PC have powered my devices (the headset among all of the others are USB items). The build quality is outstanding and the case is very stylish when matched with black accessories. The HP tech support is beyond helpful, I talked to a tech on the internet about a problem with a Ubisoft (I asked about the game's problem, not the computer) and the tech still helped me find a few sites to check out (kudos Geroge S. although the answer was e-mailed to me through YAHOO! nearly a month later.) The case is just over one foot deep and 1.5 foot high. It's only about 5 inches across. The inside of the case is kind of messy but if you snip of a zip tie the wires easily part for your new installation. The CD tray is not very thick and requires you manually push the tray in to make it withdraw which slightly bothers me. On the case of the thinness of the drive, it should not break off and if it does you should not own a computer. Drives such as that are meant to be opened and then closed. The card readers work very well and quickly and the CD drive spins quickly. The system is setup for surround sound though and getting a simple 2 or 3 piece system to work is difficult. It is best to simply by a stereo headset or a set of surround sound speakers. The computer is not a cheap crappy thing as I expected either for the price and the specs. It's all very new and works with everything (except an old Saitek joystick from somewhere around '97). I highly, highly recommend this product for everyone buying a new computer. It is fast, big (in storage, not size), stylish, functional, practical, and best of all very inexpensive.
- My son-in-law suggested and even ordered this HP for me. He explained his confidence in Amazon and HP and I bought. I now am TOTALLY happy and confident in choosing Amazon for purchases and HP for their products.
- This has been great so far. I am not a computer buff, but this has worked well for me so far and have loaded most of my prgrammes in without problem. Price was good and shipping was reasonable.
