- Opinions seem to be evenly split on Jane Fonda-Jennifer Lopez comedy "Monster-in-Law," the tale of a suffocating mama who makes life miserable for her son's new fiance. But one thing can be discerned: Lots of good music on the soundtrack, ranging from MTV pop stars to little-known dancepopsters.
Some popular and vocally blessed songwriters are included here. Among them is Jem, with her pretty lighthearted "Just A Ride," Rachael Yamagata's playful "1963," and Ivy's rollicking love song "Thinking About You." A harder note comes in with Tegan and Sarah's "Walking With A Ghost," but there is also pop wunderkind Nellie McKay's "Won't U Please B Nice?" and Esthero's funky "Everyday is a Holiday With You."
And there's Astaire's dancey, poppy "L-L-Love," one of the less organic songs of the album. A more bluesy note enters near the end, with Magnet's guitar-pop "Where Happiness Lives," Dar Williams' lovely "Beauty of the Rain," and Madeleine Peyroux's piano-jazzy "Don't Wait Too Long."
I'm not sure who chooses the songs for movies like these, but apparently whoever did has some truly excellent taste. Bands like many of these -- especially the jazzier or bluesier artists, are often lacking from movie soundtracks, but they also add a charming delicacy to a very basic-sounding comedy.
Not that this is entirely perfect -- Joss Stone's "Super Duper Love (Are You Diggin' On Me?) Pt. 1" just doesn't fit in with the others. It's not a bad song, not at all, but it seems rather garish beside Yamagata and Ivy. And Rosey, a little-known funk-pop-hop singer, get shortchanged with a remix of "Love." Better to include the original.
However, those problems are outweighed by the mild indie cred (Ivy, Tegan & Sara) and the ability to include good pop singers (Jem, Yamagata). What's even better, many of the songs seem to fit together. Yamagata, Jem, Esthero, Rosey, Peyroux, and Ivy have similarly flexible voices, often husky and always strong in tone. The songs themselves tend to be a bit playful and romantic.
I'm not sure yet what kind of movie "Monster in Law" will be, but the soundtrack is a smooth, relaxing ride with only a few bumps. (And not a single song by J.Lo)
- The Monster-in-Law soundtrack features tracks from a collection of formidable female artists, including Joss Stone, Esthero, Ivy, Rachel Yamagata, and new-comers Tegan & Sara.
The track listing for Monster-in-Law is as follows:
1. Love (Koop Remix) - Rosey
2. Just A Ride - Jem
3. Everyday Is A Holiday (With You) - Esthero
4. Won't U Please B Nice - Nellie McKay
5. 1963 - Rachael Yamagata
6. L-L-Love - Astaire
7. Walking With A Ghost - Tegan & Sara
8. Thinking About You - Ivy
9. Super Duper Love (Are You Diggin' On Me?) Pt. 1 - Joss Stone
10. Don't Wait Too Long - Madeleine Peyroux
11. Where Happiness Lives - Magnet
12. Love On The Rocks - Sara Bareilles
13. The Beauty Of The Rain - Dar Williams
Here's an MP3 of my favorite song on the track, "Walking With a Ghost"!

- I absolutelly loved this CD. It's such a great mix. I left the movie running for the CD store to get it and I just love it.
My favourite song is Walking With a Ghost by Tegan and Sara. I needed a CD for our store and I put it on, and everybody asked what it was. It has a bit of every type. I totally recommend this CD to anyone, who just wants to either mellow out or cheer up, anything. This CD is good to the last drop(well song)
- I LOVE this movie, and couldn't WAIT to get the soundtrack. I really like most of the songs, but glaringly absent was "Down to You" (can't remember the artist's name). Since that was my favorite song in the entire movie, I was very disappointed. I could easily have traded "Don't Wait Too Long" by Madeliene Peyoux for "Down to You", which, to me, fit in much more with the rest of the music, and is a lot more upbeat. Other than that, I like it. Not as good as a lot of soundtracks, and definitely not as good as the movie, but it's a keeper.
- This soundtrack was pretty mellow and easy going. I originally purchased this CD for a catchy tune I heard in the movie but I noticed that particular song and some others were left off of this so I was a little disappointed.

- you should definetly by this cd, this one is bettr then vol.1 and 2.This is a wicked good cd, they should come out with a crank yankers dvd.
- Not only are the crankers not nearly as funny as they were on the first two installments, but the people being cranked aren't either. What makes Volume 3 so boring and UNfunny is the fact that most of the people who are called sound so unammusingly annoyed, not really willing to participate on any level at all. The irrate people just sound bothered and the clueless people sound irritatingly stupid. Even the "puppets" have problems here, being more crass and ruder than is required to be effectively funny. Perfect examples are Bircham's humorless tirade while calling for employment and Jimmy Kimmel's bratty-sounding kids calling a bowling alley with the age old prank (think about it). I kind of felt sorry for the guy on the other end of the phone who was really too dumb to figue out what was going on with these two snots. So while the first two volumes are fun to be had by all, this one is a snoozer. And I do agree with the reviewer prior to me: This should have been a DVD of the skits on Vols 1 & 2.
- I think Crank yankers is absolutely hillarious. I give a lot of credit to the comics involved in the series. I think they are all talented. I do wish, however, that they would invent more episodes with the older guy, I think his name is Elmer. The best episodes are with him.
- This C.D. is funny the first time on a couple of tracks, but then it is all boring
I would suggest not buying this because it is a one time only C.D. But, it was O.K.
- This is the third volume of uncensored crank calls from the Crank Yankers TV show. How is this volume different from the first two volumes? This one is in stereo! This time around, the caller is in the left speaker and the person answering the phone is in the right speaker. Other than that, it's much the same as the other two CDs. Funny crank phone calls by hilarious characters like Special Ed, Hadassah Guberman, Elmer Higgins, Niles Standish, Dick Birchum and Gladys Murphy. If you are a fan of crank phone calls, you should enjoy this.

- Upbeat and heartwarming, each song has a purpose on this soundtrack. There are fun and upbeat songs, and there are songs that are sad. This soundtrack is pretty simular to the Legally Blonde original soundtrack. There are also cool romance songs, which mixes this soundtrack perfectly; happy songs, sad songs, and romance songs, so this soundtrack creates a great variety to the listener. I like each song on this soundtrack, them all being worth the listen to. But, some songs on the soundtrack are from other soundtracks; "No Sleep 2nite" from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants original soundtrack, and "One and Only" from Aquamrine original soundtrack, giving you a clear idea of how them soundtracks are by listening to them. This soundtrack is missing some songs though, disappointing...
1. No Sleep 2nite _ Molly McQueen 5/5
2. Rescue Me _ Rachel Robinson 5/5 (Favorite)
3. The Joker _ Fatboy Slim featuring Bootsy Collins 5/5
4. Love Is A Game _ The Magic Numbers 4/5
5. O What A Glorious Thing _ Akira The Don 5/5
6. It Don't Matter _ Donavon Frankenreiter 4/5
7. Oye Como Va _ Chad Fischer 4/5
8. Everything's Right _ Matt Wertz 5/5
9. One & Only _ Teitur 5/5
10. Lover Come Up _ Josh Kelley 4/5
11. She Drives Me Crazy _ Fine Young Cannibals 4/5 (eighties!)
12. Love Love Love _ Tristan Prettyman 5/5
13. I Got You _ Eskimos of Love 4/5
14. No Sleep 2nite (SXG Ext Summer Mix) _ Molly McQueen 5/5 (great mix!)
If you liked this, you may like:
1. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants original soundtrack
2. Aquamarine original soundtrack
AND
3. Legally Blonde original soundtrack
Hope you enjoy!

Overall grade* A-
- Each songs are really good but I don't understand why it's said that no sleep 2nite is sung by Molly MCqueen and not the Faders (is the band seperated?!).Anyway even if I already knew the song it was a nice way to start the compilation with (but the remix was a little unnecessary).Rachel Robinson's rescue me song is defenatly one of my favorites along with love is a game, one and only, lover come up,love love love and I got you.It was also fun to have two hits on the CD (a recent and an oldy),the joker and she drives me crazy. So if you are into romantic comedy soundtrack style, this one's made for you.Let's hope the movie is as good as it is.

- It is a great CD, but it seems that nobody likes the "Thug Music Plays on" by Bone Thugs N' Harmony. It displays their R&B/Rap sound that no other rappers have.
- I really like this soundtrack. It is a nice mix of R&B and Rap/Hip-Hop. The best tracks are "Gin and Juice" by Snoop Dogg, "Glitches" by The Roots, and "Thug Music Plays On" By Bone-Thugs-n-Harmony.

- K, here's the deal, giving four just cuz hh and r&b ^^
It has some missing music played on movie on the funny scenes like "DMX - ruff ryders", Mystical - Shake that ass" and an old pop music also played on movie and has been cut off the soundtrack "The cardigans - i'm losing my favorite game" Too bad for em cutting off those due limitions on cd space or something, the good thing they kept gin & juice from Snoopy.
- giving four only cuz the r&b and Hip hop songs, that i like a
lot. i got disapointed cuz a lot of songs played in the movie didnt make to this cd, so is this a really movie soundtrack or whatever.....There's a lot of good songs indeed , but if you watched the film and wanted the movie's songs, stay away from this album Musics wich have been cut off the movie soundtrack that actually plays on the movie on the funny scenes Cardigans - my favorite game(played when chris do a non stop phone calls) Mystical - Shake that ass (played when his thought ex-wife disguised like a black womem and shaking her tries to recover the love from his ded husband "chris rock") DMX - Ruff Riders (played at the diner when a black guy comes and hit "crhis rock" in the face.)

- i just bought this cd yesterday. personally i think it is better than some adam sandler stuff. as soon as i heard track 12 "Pee Delivery" i started laughing so hard i thought i was going to pass out. elmer is the best ever. and track 7 "Shoulda Sent It Sooner" is also very funny it is by the touch-tone terrorist. if you love crank yankers good prank calls and comedy i highly recommend this cd!
- Shoulda Sent It Sooner!, Pee Delivery, And Hallmark Cards were my favorite tracks but this whole cd is funny. I thought this would be a toned down addition to volume 1 but this cd is a lot funnier than the first! Tracy Morgan is great with his Spoonie Luv "Don't change" "I feel you" funny as hell! I hurt my sides just laughing hysterically from the second track to the last with Florentine as Special Ed "I'm going to Hawaii yeahhhhhhh!"
A must have!
- If the first cd couldn't be funnier, the second cd comes out twice as strong. Crank Yankers Vol. 2, def. makes its mark in the comedy world for sure. I just hope a DVD could come out of these as well to make this awesome collection complete.
- How is this CD different from the first Crank Yankers CD? This one features the theme song by Fountains of Wayne! Other than that, it is much the same as the first Crank Yankers CD. Funny crank phone calls! Hilarious characters like Hadassah Guberman, Niles Standish, Elmer Higgins, Spoonie Luv and Special Ed! If you are a fan of crank phone calls, you will dig this CD.

- The Muppets with a foul mouth . If you loved to do prank phone calls as a child , you'll love this CD . There's lovable characters like Special Ed , the retarded adult , Elmer , a funny old man and my favourite Spoonie Luv played by SNL veteran Tracey Morgan . I also recommend Volume 2&3.
- This is the first collection of real crank phone calls taken from the Crank Yankers television show. The TV show uses puppets to reenact the calls, but since crank calls are inherently an audio form of humor, you don't really need to see the puppets to get the joke. There are a lot of funny recuring characters on the show, and many of them are featured here. We have Gladys Murphy the black housewife, Birchum the crazy Vietnam vet, Spoonie Luv the playah, Cammie the stripper, Niles Standish the perverted British gentleman, Special Ed the retarded guy and others. This is funny stuff. If you enjoy crank phone calls, you should dig it.
- This is the funniest album out of the 3 of them. From Niles Standish, to Bobby Fletcher, this CD will bring you joy. One of the best $20 I ever spent. A must have for any Crank Yankers fan. If you are not, you jusy have to take a little bit of time to get used to the humor. Once you are used to it, you will ike it.
- I used to love the Crank Yankers... for about one episode. At the end of the episode I realized THEY'RE A POOR COPY OF THE JERKY BOYS!!! This is pretty good if you're addicted to prank calls, but I highly suggest that you buy the first two Jerky Boys albums as well and just compare the quality for yourself.
- I can't believe I sat and watched the entire season for maybe 3-4 calls that were good.

- As with most comedians, one doesn't discover their true nature until they are uncensored. I have enjoyed Ms. Sykes immensely on TV and in movies, but found her language and crude humor to be over the top for my tastes in this album. There are some very funny moments in this presentation, but it's not worth wading through the muck to find them.
- I saw Wanda Sykes for the first time when she appeared recently on the Ellen Degeneris show. She made me laugh out loud so I ordered this CD to hear more from her. I wasn't disappointed. She is absolutely hysterical. She tells stories completely from a woman's perspective so this may not appeal as much to men. Also, there are sections that are pretty graphic and pretty raunchy but very funny. Not for you if you take offense at foul and sometimes graphic language. All that being said I laughed and laughed and laughed while listening to this CD. Lots of fun!
