1 comments about Shelley Duvall's Tall Tales & Legends - Ponce de Leon.
- I give it five stars because I remember watching it as a young'un, although I haven't seen it in about 17 years. It's a fun and comical view of Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon's search for the Fountain of Youth. His travels take him to the place Paul Rodriguez deems "FLOREEEDA." They take him to a hilarious cameo by Dr. Ruth Westheimer who resides on the other side of a quicksand pit ("Don't call me, I'll call you.")
All in all, it's a great tale for the younger set and hopefully it is as good to you all as I remember it being.

3 comments about Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles (2001 Film).
- A bit more than salt and pepper is needed to spice up this soundtrack. Just like the film - a flop!
- Leave it to director Simon Wincer and our hero, actor Paul Hogan to come up with another "Crocodile Dundee"...this time in Los Angeles...the only good thing about this luke-warm-film is the score...the nod was given to Basil Poledouris...gave us ~ "Conan The Barbarian"(1982)..."Quigley Down Under"(1999)..."Hunt For Red October"(1999)..."Starship Troopers"(1997) and "For The Love Of The Game"(1999).
Poledouris does a bang-up-job with the material he has to work with...the stand outs ~ "CROCODILE DUNDEE IN LOS ANGELES-MAIN TITLE" and "MOTOTOV COCKTAIL/LIONS", shades of Henry Mancini's "Hatari" score comes to mind...counterpoints, measures and orchestration is typical Mancini...not bad company to be in. The last four tracks entitled "The Songs"...is a waste...feel it degrades the entire CD...pity, our esteem composer is on a higher plain...for what it's worth...Poledouris is one of the upcoming composers to fill the void...looking forward to his next project! Total Time: 45:07 on 16 Tracks ~ Silva America SSD-1130 ~ (2001)
- Why on earth did Basil Poledouris do the score to Crocodile Dundee III? I'm not ashamed to admit that I liked the movie, it was cool for some light and distracting entertainment but the score never needed to be a strong point. So why bring in a composer with such clout like Poledouris? It's like getting Marilyn Manson to score Stuart Little 3. Basil Poledouris creates awesome, huge, thunderous scores for movies like Robocop, Conan, Under Siege 2 and Starship Troopers.
The score itself is actually very slight, clocking in at about half an hour. There are some okay tracks in there though; the acoustic guitar strummings are especially easy-going. But the rest is unthematic and uninteresting. Oh, and the songs tacked onto the end are awful and only there to market the CD to a possible wider audience. They really ruin the CD and serve only to beef up the running time. Who cares when any serious score collector wouldn't even consider them? If you're a Poledouris completist then it's worth picking this up cheap. If not, leave it alone.

- The first time is always the best, I say. Paul released this album when his career was first starting to rise, when he was very hungry; and it shows in this CD. Even though I first listened to it back in 86', I still find myself quoting parts from it. From his memorable opening lines which reference the California Lottery, to the skits referencing Julio Iglesias' teaming up with Willie Nelson, to Paul's hilarious observations about Gilligan's Island's castaways, this CD is clearly his best. Even though it is 14 years old, I still find Paul's jokes relevant and timeless because his spoofs and observations still make sense today. Even if you only like Paul Rodriguez's sense of humor a little, you will love his first album, proving the first time CAN actually be the best.
- I have always enjoyed Rodriguez'works, both on stage and in movies (with the notable exception of "Bloodwork," where he plays an unfunny and thankless part; but a guy has to work, que no?). I bought this CD, assuming that it would be as funny as his other works. But it isn't. There are certainly places in the CD where he made me smile or laugh a little, but there is no section that causes me to lose it, laughing-wise. It seems rather strident, as if he is trying too hard. A great comedian makes you laugh and laugh over. Rodriguez' trying too hard to be funny makes me feel uncomfortable, to the point where I don't care to listen to it again.
If you are Mexican-American, as I am, or if you just want to lose it and laugh until you're crying, try the CD's by George Lopez, "Team Leader" or "Right Now, Right Now." I have listened to them over and over, and they're just as funny as the 1st time I heard them! George Lopez is the true heir to Cheech Marin.
- This CD is very funny. It gives a view of representing between Latinos and the rest of America. However it is old, as the jokes are based on events of the 1980's, it is still very funny with the Latino views of the American Way of Life.

- This is a great introduction to new interesting Latin Music groups with styles ranging from Cha Cha Cha, Brazilian, Latin Pop to Cuban Folk. All excellent songs. Lila Downs voice alone will make you melt. There are no bad/boring songs on this cd. Plus the cd notes include about 10 recipes from the movie.
- This CD delivers as intended - merely a soundtrack to a not-so-good movie. While it covers a wide range of musical styles, it lacks, much like the movie, the one ingredient that is so vital to Latin music: PASSION! There are a few worthy tracks, such as P18's "La Verdolaga" and Eliades Ochoa's "Si En Un Final", but these aren't enough to carry the whole disc. It might be better served as an introduction to new and up and coming artists. For an intro to Latin music I suggest any compilation CDs from labels like Putumayo, Rough Guide, or Allegro.
- This is a pretty darned good sampling of Latin music. My wife saw the movie and immediately picked up the CD (I guess that says something good about the movie.) We've listened to it several times over and enjoyed it quite a bit. My one complaint is that it is uneven. Some of the songs on the CD aren't as good as others and it makes it hard to listen to the CD straight through. We were introduced to several great artists through this CD, and if you are looking for some fun Latin stuff, then I highly recommend picking up some albums from the artists represented on the CD, especially: Los Amigos Invisibles, Lila Downs, and Bebel Gilberto. And while you are at it, you should pick up Susana Baca's CD too.

- Wonderful songs and wonderful renditions of the songs. I must say, though, that the numbers would have been better if they were performed with more "ooomph" (for instance, "The Star Spangled Banner" could have been sung with more power and the arrangement could have used more creativity). The wisest decision on this CD was the inclusion of the numbers from Ms. Lea Salonga (whose hauntingly beautiful voice is able to effectively draw listeners in) and Daniel Rodriguez, one of America's newest tenors. Overall a good CD.
- When I saw and heard this music broadcast Veteran's Day on TBN and my friends serving in our Armed Forces in Iraq saw it broadcast on Armed Forces Network, I was so happy to find the stereo CD and companion Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound DVD on Amazon. I cannot stop listening to it! The 60 minute musical program, reminiscent of the great concept albums of years ago, is one of the most reverent, intelligent and passionate portrayals of America's character ever produced. It contains many styles of choral music - all superbly performed by the world famous Cadet Glee Club of West Point arrayed in breathtaking formation on the altar of the massive 100 year old Cadet Chapel. There are richly textured vocal a capella songs such as "Rise Up O Men of God", "Manisons of the Lord", one of the most popular new hymns written, and "America (My Country `Tis of Thee)". Your buttons will burst with pride when you hear the brand new song "Men of Freedom" introduced by a single Cadet then followed by a cascade of additional voices building to a unified and thunderous declaration of defiant freedom in a style reminiscent of the great Welsh Male Choirs. Four songs highlight the power and majesty of the largest church organ in the world. You'll have to fight the urge to stand at attention when you hear and feel its power kick in on "Lest We Forget", "On Great Lone Hills", "Jerusalem" and "This Christmastide". The musical variety is further enhanced by the addition of brass and percussion for the rousing marches, "The Longest Day" and "Non Nobis". When was the last time you heard these two songs - one by world famous singer, songwriter and teen idol, Paul Anka and the other a medieval celebration of thanksgiving sung in Latin! The rich background vocals of the Cadet Glee Club musically frame two songs that underpin the message of this album - Bravery and Sacrifice. "Into the Fire" by NYPD's Daniel Rodriguez made me want to immediately rise up and rush to anyone's aid and when he holds that note at the end - wow! Tony Award Winner Lea Salonga's performance of the classic Christian hit, "Via Dolorosa", (one of the top 50 Christian songs of all time), is "The Passion of the Christ" embodied in a 5 minute song. You will alternate between tears and goose bumps. Her performance of the Spanish stanza will overwhelm you. Finally, Irish song writing master, Phil Coulter's wistful "Take Me Home" is accompanied by beautiful piano and guitar and introduced by a new poem entitled "I Am A Soldier" that is sobering reminder of the oath our soldiers swear to and the actions they are bound to take. God bless them!
A great bonus of the CD and DVD is that they both include a stylish lyric booklet as well as commentary by the producer on why he chose each song.
On the back cover of the CD and DVD cases is the statement that this production was created to honor the men and women of our Armed Forces, past and present, and the great values of America that they defend. This it surely does!! Also, it states that the producer is contributing a portion of his wholesale proceeds from its sale to organizations assisting our wounded soldiers. Bravo, Mr. Coppi.
- This album is awe-inspiring. I bought the album after hearing an out take from "Men of Freedom", the tune is from an old Welsh battle song. You will recognize the tune if you saw Zulu Dawn with Michael Caine. Many of the other songs are equally powerful and mesmerizing. The only songs I didn't like were when the Glee club used guest soloists. They were less impressive and, in my opinion, took away from the strength of the group.
I liked the multiple verses sung from America, I wished they would have given the Star Spangled Banner the same treatment. The Mansions of the Lord is powerful and supremely reverent, as is Rise Up. I would dearly like to hear more from this talented group of soldiers.
- Exceptional CD. Inspirational and motivational. Highy recommend this for anyone seeking great quality music.
- The CD is exactly as advertised and exactly what I wanted. It is a collection of music aimed at Men of Honor. There may be a limited audience for this CD, but the audience is a great one.

- A beautifully emotional and stirring work taken from the movie. I absolutly love the music. The only downside to the CD is the interview with Maurice Jarre. I felt this last 10 minutes of the CD would have been better spent on music and not dialogue. Still, a very nice piece.

- A truly powerful soundtrack from a powerful movie. First off id like to state to some people who reviewed this cd stating its not the music in the film. If your looking for music straight from a film then buy the score!!!! Now back on subject, ive rated each song out of 5 so you can get the overall feel (because most soundtracks are pick and choose).
1- the worlds greatest - 5/5 2- fight - 5/5 3- hold on - 5/5 4- a change is gonna come - 5/5 5- aint no way - 3.5/5 6- sometimes - 3/5 7- 20 dollars - 4/5 8- for your precious love - 3/5 9- bring it on home to me - 4.5/5 10- Ali the greatest - 4.5/5 11- mistreated - 5/5 12- tommorow - 5/5 - UNBELIEVABLE, I challenge you to find a more powerful song 13- all along the watchtower - 5/5 14- odessa - 5/5 15- see the sun - 5/5 Overall this soundtrack is very jazzy and soulful. I'm normally not one to buy soundtracks but I am a huge fan of Cassius Clay so I thought id give this a try and i'm glad I did.
- There's a few songs on this soundtrack that are really good, especially the song by Al Green. Aretha has a good song on here. There's some nice tracks. I really enjoyed a few songs. Then there are others that are not good at all, and I have never listened to them completely because they left a lot to be desired. It's good anyway, because the few strong songs are really good enough to make it worth it to purchase this cd.
- I would say get this for the Song tommorow by Saif keta but the One song if you Watch the Flim very Closly was when Ali and his brother paid Jamie Fox a visit in the Hotel and Ali riding on the Train , That Track was By Johnny Farmer a Old school Blues song Called Death Letter , with Great vocals this song is not on Soundtrack "why? It is the best song in the whole damn Movie
I wonder where I can get it like it was song in the Movie ?
if you know let me know !
- This has got to be the single greatest soundtrack that i have heard to this date. I have watched the movie over and over again, and the performance by Will Smith is incredible, and they have made a soundtrack to match the intensity of the motion picture. Besides Al Green, R. Kelly, and Alicia Keys coming up with great tracks to match the movie, Salif Keita's "Tomorrow" tops off this soundtrack as my all time favorite. I jog, lift weights, and go to sleep listening to this song. I have got to say that the editors of this one really outdid themselves. Great Job!!
- I lisin to this item and i really like it after i saw the movie .

5 comments about Music for a Darkened Theatre, Vol. 2: Film & Television Music.
- The liner notes and "This is Halloween Demo" on this compilation are well worth the CD price by themselves. Danny comments on each of the tracks on the CDs which is a rare and ego-free look at what a composer thinks of his own work.
Edward Scissorhands is magical, Black Beauty is a rollercoaster of emotion, and Dolores Claiborne makes me want to find the nearest piano. This is not a "Most Popular" compilation, rather it aptly showcases Danny Elfman's (and Orchestrator, Steve Bartek's) brilliance and wide range of style.
Every suite has an Elfman signature, such as the layered complexity which never sounds overdone, or the use of a choir as an instrument.
This (and Volume 1) are examples of the work of a modern day composer who consistently stands out as one of the best.
If you like this and have the spare cash, grab the individual scores from some of the movies he has worked on, including "Men In Black", "Spiderman", "Batman", "Batman Returns", "Nightmare Before Christmas", "Edward Scissorhands", "Mars Attacks" and so many more.
- Music For A Darkened Theater, Vol.2 is a great cd!!! I love all of the tracks on both cd's,but my fav. ones are the t.v. scores and the This Is Halloween demo!!! If you love this, then i recomend looking at all the actually albums on this cd and his other works!!!! good job,Danny Elfman.
- I Love Danny Elfman's music so much that I have started my own collection of the soundtracks that he composed. For a while, I was trying to find the "Beetlejuice" theme song from the TV show, but thanks to this release, I finally have it!!! Keep up the good work Elfman!
- Very nice overview of Elfman work. Insufficient by itself but worth having along with the full soundtracks. Bonus disc is a nice extra.
- Years ago, watching peter Jennings cover the funeral procession of Princess Diana, my soul was captured by some hauntingly beautiful music that at times played in the background. So began my mission to find out what it was, who wrote it and how I could get it. After some correspondence with the network I was put in touch with the woman who "put together" that part of the programming. All she could remember is that it came from the movie "Black Beauty". THEN I found out how many versions of that had been made lol. With determination, I finally found it, and had a local music store order it for me.
There are no words to describe what this music does to me. I did try listening to some of the other tracks, but they didn't even come close. I rate this music right up there with the 1971 score for "Jane Eyre" by John Willams... and that's pretty high :D

- I LOVE THIS SOUNDTRACK AND ADORE THE MOVIE !!! IT HAS JESSE McCARTNEY AND HILARY DUFF !!! One OF MY TOP TEN FAVES !!
- I really love the songs on this CD, especially 2,3,10 and 12.
Those are just my favorites.
Love the movie, and most of the music off of it, so knew I'd love the CD.
Fabulous!
- I was thoroughly dissapointed when I picked up this soundtrack. There are different versions on this CD than that which are performed in the movie. 'Best Day Of My Life' is not performed by Jesse McCartney, and I really think that the version that is better is the one that plays in the movie, yet it's not a track. And 'Now You Know' is listed as by Hilary Duff, but also in the movie is not performed by Hilary Duff. Once again, the better version was in the movie, and I think it was a mistake to include these versions of the tracks. I really love the music on this soundtrack, surprisingly, I just wish it had the versions that were actually in the movie.
- This product was brilliant; all of the songs fit together perfectly. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that 'hear you me' by 'jimmy' was not on it; the song 'friend' is such a sweet song though it makes up for this.
- In my opinion, this is a great album. All of the songs are good if you like music (that is, if you don't pigeonhole yourself into listening to specific genres only, and you're open to all types of music).
There is one big problem with this disc, however. Edwin McCain's "I'll Be" skips at 1:15 into the track. It repeats the last couple of seconds instead of what should be there (so technically, it doesn't skip, but there was a problem in the manufacturing process). At first I thought my encoder messed up, but a second encoding had the same result. I looked at the disc, and it looks perfect, no marks or scratches or anything. I checked it in my stereo, and sure enough, the track skips at 1:15.

- this sound track is the bomb!!! the movie is too!! i love all the songs on this album especially "rock star" and "youth of the nation" but it is so stupid that "youth of the nation" is not on the soundtrack because that song is the bomb its by P.O.D by the way. anyways this soundtrack is sooooooo good and by the way you should also check into the movie both are extremly good! by the way kate bosworth is a really good actress and also by the way did i mention that this is the bomb movie!!!!!!!!???????????????????????????? by the way, bye!!!!!!!
- When I first saw Blue Crush, the first thing I noticed was the fact that the music credits featured were mostly artists I've never even heard of. I recently went to the mall and chanced upon the CD and took it to the listening booth and found it very eclectic with different genres jammed together. Although I was disappointed that it only contained 11 songs, the soundtrack still delivered attitude, steering away from the stereotypical beach sounds, which was a complete relief.
The carrier single of the disc is rock god Lenny Kravitz's kick-ass song, "If I Could Fall In Love". The music video featured the three surfer girls in the movie. Definitely a good start for a rock intro. Following is the hard-driven techno dance remix of N.E.R.D.'s "Rock Star", a head-banging track good for beach house parties.
From rock, the CD moves to a beach staple sound - pure reggae and hiphop. It features upbeat tunes such as "Party Hard" and "Big Love", with wicked remixes like "And Be Loved", "Cruel Summer (Blestenation Mix)", and "Front 2 Back (Fatboy Slim Remix)". The songs create the feel of having a jammin' good time at the beach with your friends, so you definitely can't go wrong.
The ethereal Beth Orton gives a haunting contribution to the soundtrack in "Daybreaker", an upbeat trip-hop electronica song with evoking vocals and melody. Not to be outdone is the equally talented Nikka Costa with "Everybody Got Their Something".
Rounding off the disc are two beautiful ambient tracks to end a day at the beach. The creative duo of Zero 7 incorporates the perfect summer ballad in "Destiny" - a deliciously sensual chillout track which features the sublime vocals of Sia Furler, a perfect slow number to dance with your boo. And last but not the least, Doves gives a striking track in "Firesuite" - a mellow instumental that screams "beach lounge".
There were some songs, however, that should have been added to the soundtrack, most notably P.O.D., with their songs "Youth Of The Nation" (heard only on the surfing training of Anne Marie) and "Alive" (featured on the trailer). But all in all, Blue Crush OST packs a mean tsunami punch. A perfect addition to your CD collection!
- This has got to be the Best Soundtrack I've heard so far. Normally with some Soundtracks, you get the odd songs that aren't worth listening to. But with Blue Crush, EVERY SONG is WiCkEd!!
There's a variety of awesome mixes of Rock-fast beat, and chilled-relaxed tunes that make you crank up the stereo! This CD would be even better if it had included more songs (eg. Youth of the Nation, POD)
The movie is also definately worth checking out!! -Comedy and some surfing action that just makes you wanna get out there and surf!!
- This CD has various artists, and the mix is just great. My exercise instructor uses it for an abs blast class. The CD is superb.
- I purchased this CD because I thought it was a complete soundtrack! But one track is MISSING, the corus is "We are, We are the Children of the Nation"...I do not know who did the song for the movie, I do remember it being a hit!
Beuller...Beuller...Beuller? Anyone, Anyone help me find this missing track!!!!
