5 comments about Johnny Cool: Billy May's Original Motion Picture Score - Original MGM Motion Picture Soundtrack [Enhanced CD].
- Had the original record, this CD is very well mastered. If you like high rat pack cheese with a horn section this is your disc. Everyone I have turned on to this recording digs it. Light up a cigarette line up a few martinis, kick off your loafers, put up your silk socked feet and groove!
- hot and jazzy i love an albumn that can stand alone ~~ even without the film to back it up! ALL CUTS ON THIS ALBUMN ARE PERFECT! delightful listening ! my personal favorite is 'bee boom!"times three!try this~~ sergio!
- The soundtrack to "Johnny Cool" is about as obscure as the film itself. The film is essentially a gangster revenge tale. It was shot in 1963 in Black & White. It starred forgotten "rat packer" and brilliant character actor Henry Silva as Johnny Cool Giordano. Billy May did the scoring and Sammy Davis Jr. sings. This is technically an excellent recording. It sounds very good and is equally very pleasurable listening. This album is a very good piece of early 1960s contemporary America. Track 11 "Bee Boom" and Track 12 "The Ballad of Johnny Cool" both sung by Sammy Davis Jr. are excellent. Actually "Bee Boom" is fantastic!
- I SAW THIS MOTION PICTURE 40 YEARS AGO ON A SHIP BOUND FOR VIETNAM, THE MOVIE IS WHAT ALL GANGSTER MAFIA MOVIES WERE COPIED FROM..........THIS MOVIE ALTHOUGH BLACK AND WHITE IS STAR STUDDED
AND WILL KEEP YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT, THE MUSIC IS PERFECT
I WISH THIS FLICK WAS AVAILABLE ON DVD, I"M SURPRISED THAT THE SOUND TRACK IS AVAILABLE........EITHER CASE ITS GREAT......
IF IT EVER DOES COME OUT ON DVD I WILL BE THE FIRST TO BUY IT...............
- I played my first copy of the Johnny Cool Soundtrack till it was worn out, now it's on Cd, a perfect masterpiece of sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone who's heard this classic score has flipped over it, I wish they would release the film on Dvd.

5 comments about Valley Of The Dolls: Music From The Motion Picture Soundtrack.
- Don't believe all that you read, this film is considered a poor film due to the acting and what not. NOT TRUE. This film is a GREAT melodrama. The performances are great, especially those of the three leading females, Patty Duke, Barbara Parkins, and Sharon Tate. Parkins (who is mostly known before this film from the classic television series PEYTON PLACE) is stunningly beautiful and a great actress. Sadly due to the poor reception of this film, she did not carry on to star in other films. This is one of the few films that Tate starred in because she was one among those murdered by Charles Manson. Sad, because she was a true beauty and a classy actress. If you enjoy a good drama, and better acting than what is seen mostly on television and soap operas these days, BUY THIS MOVIE.
It does follow the plot line of the book that it is based on, but it has been toned down in the sexuality, language, and certain plot lines. Nevertheless it is a true classic story of three women whose lives are slowly shattered by the need for fame, love, and men. I don't want to give too much away of the plot, because it is an enjoyable film. I have read the book, and seen this film multiple times. IT'S A TRUE CLASSIC THAT IS A MUST OWN!!
- When it comes to pure 60's camp, you can't get any better than this! The story follows three women that aspire to be more than they are and how they fall into the world of drugs. I recommend this for it's pure entertainment and dramatic interpretation of drugs use in showbiz.
Sparkle Neely!
- The film was excellent and I would highly recommend it. It was received in a timely manner and in great condition. I would recommend both the film and the seller.
- Not a fan of show tunes, but the music from this classic movie is timeless.
- Sigh, I guess I'm not edgy/cool, because I found "Valley of the Dolls" simply to be an engaging, pretty good drama, not the huge make-fun-of-it laughfest all the gay icons and other followers of the movie say it is during the numerous special features. To be sure, there ARE several over-the-top moments- usually involving a character using pills and/or booze or commenting on another character's use of same- but they're just that, moments, not non-stop unintentional hilarity. Okay, the gay icons were right about the wig-in-the-toilet scene... THAT was pretty crazy. Endless special features throughout this two-disc set and an absolutely crystal clear restored print of the film make this DVD a must-see for fans of sixties cinema. And the gorgeous actresses don't hurt, either.
