  1. does anybody know if the Sir SmokeALot songs are available anywhere? Dave Chapelle is friggin hilarious.

  2. does anyone know what song is playing the first time you see grown up thurgood and co toking up? i believe that song is also in the scene where thurgood and co meet with sampson, while thurgood is pretending to be a jamiacan. if you know the band/artist post or email it to theblipsband@yahoo.com

    much thanks

  3. I have to go ahead and agree with Justin...Seasons Change is the only awesome song on here. In fact, its my 3rd favorite song of all time. I never even knew it was in this disgrace of a movie. I mean, the only you other ppl think the other songs are good is cause they talk about tokin up and crap like that. Screw rap and that other BS, get some DOTN and get to jammin.

  4. Actually the 'Salt-n-Pepa' song which is mysteriously missing from the Half Baked soundtrack isn't a 'Salt-n-Pepa' song at all. (thought it sure sounds like it.) It's "Lookin' Good to Me" by Nonchalant. (...)

  5. all i have to say is that "the gav" is absolutely retarted. ok so he doesnt like rap or reggae well screw you man. just because other people like different music u say that they only like it cuz it talks about smokin bowls. you think this movie is bad? its one of the funniest movies i have ever seen. you have no sense of humor. thats all and have a good day.

  1. After seeing Jim Bruer at my school, i had to go out and buy this cd ASAP. Just being Jim was great to see, and his ease of relating with the audience is great. He will keep you laughing no matter what he is talking about.

His Joe Pesci will keep you laughing at all times, he took a kids cell phone and answered it as Joe Pesci, along with these types of jokes and personal stories of The Goat, and 80's nostalgia to AC/DC concerts, this cd is a MUST GET!

  2. I went to see this act when he was in my town and it was so hilarious I had to buy it. He has the greatest goat track and the AC/DC hokey pokey is great. If you love any SNL or comedy central presents , you will love this one.

  3. Although I was absolutely annoyed by him when he made a guest shot on the Howard Stern radio show a few days ago, I decided to give Jim Breuer's stand-up act a shot, and borrowed this from a Breuer-fan buddy. Boy, was that a mistake; the man was just as obnoxiously unfunny doing his stand-up thing on this platter as he was when he was doin' Brian Johnson duets with Artie Lange on the Stern show!

Speaking of Brian Johnson: I've yet to encounter a more annoying "funny" song this side of Adam Sandler's umpteenth update of "The Hanukkah (sp?) Song" than this guy's "AC/DC Hokey-Pokey". And that fingernails-across-a-blackboard "heh-heh-heh" he does every ten seconds throughout his unbelievably lame and annoying standup act drove me up a wall! Then there was his occasional super-villain-hyena-laugh that made me wanna break stuff! Preferably my friend's CD...

Hold on a moment... now, where did I put that sledge hammer-- ah, there it is...

    (SWING) *SMASH* *SHATTER*

Now THAT's more like it! I feel a lot better now.

`Course, now I gotta buy my friend a new CD. But d@mmit, it was worth it!

    `Late

  4. 2 GOOD TRACKS ON THIS C.D. THE REST OF IT SUCKS. NOT FUNNY AT ALL.

  5. Jim Breuer is a veteran of comedy that we don't see so much of these days. His humor is great and he backs it up with his band who do add to the overall feel of his style of comdey. "Smoke'n'Breu" does however have a few minor flaws.

The biggest issue on the CD is the use of the band durning some of his tracks (most notably "Fatman"). The band tries to make some noise but it doesn't do much more than annoy the listener. Now "AC/DC" and "Party in the Stomach" on the other hand the band is necessary and does a good job.

-- In a nutshell: Good band, good comedy, bad music placement in a few spots, except the beginning and end tracks. Otherwise not bad.

Worth a listen but it's your call on whether you buy or not.

  1. I am 15 years old and I have got to say, this is the BEST soundtrack EVER made! I didn't even live through the 70s and I just LOVE the music. I STRONGLY recommend it to all teenagers! In my opinion, it's A LOT better than the music made nowadays! Just try it out. You don't gotta buy the cd, but at least download some of the songs! I PROMISE you will like at least one, if not all. :)

  2. Dick is an extremely funny movie that lampoons President Nixon and the Watergate scandal. Part of the film's charm is its excellent soundtrack that captures the feel of 70's AM radio. Just like Top 40 stations, you get a little bit of everything from the early disco sounds of George McRae's "Rock Your Baby" and Love Unlimited Orchestra's "Love's Theme, to the bubblegum soul of the Jackson 5's "ABC" to the funky soul of LaBelle's "Lady Marmalade" and Jean Knight's "Mr. Big Stuff" to the rock of Elton John's "Crocodile Rock" and Grand Funk Railroad's "The Loco-Motion". There's a plethora of great one hit wonders like The Stories' "Brother Louie", David Essex's "Rock On", Redbone's "Come & Get Your Love" and Hot Butter's quirky instrumental "Popcorn". The only clunker is a poor remake of "Dancing Queen" by Sixpence None The Richer which strips away the big sound of Abba's original.

  3. It's impossible not to dance in your car when you listen to this. It features some of the brightest, most upbeat pop music of the '70s, and each track is so much of a favorite that you can play the whole CD without using the forward button on your CD player once.

Carly Simon's "You're So Vain," LaBelle's "Lady Marmalade, The Jackson 5's "ABC."

It was like getting to listen to my mom's record collection again. What a nostalgia trip!

  4. All I can say is why the Sixpence None the Richer version of Dancing Queen on the soundtrack instead of ABBA's origianl version??? Was it not the ABBA version that they were skating and dancing to at the end??? I believe it was, duh??? So why put the slow downbeat version, that was a complete and total let-down, on the album??? I love Sixpence None the Richer, but they totally destroyed Dancing Queen....

  5. I started looking for "Popcorn" and found so much more on this album. All the odd songs I had trouble finding all in one place. I'll have to check out the movie one of these days!

5 comments about Titan A.E.: Music From The Motion Picture (2000 Film).
  1. A great soundtrack to a great movie. Lit's 'Over My Head' is fun, Powerman 5000's 'The End Is Over' is okay, But the two best songs of all are Electrasy's 'Cosmic Castaway' and Urge's 'It's My Turn To Fly'. Although most of the music on here is rock and metal (there's even a song that's rap), it's nonetheless good music for fan's of the movie.

  2. TITAN A.E. is (unfortunately) a rarity in compilation soundtracks. Throughout the album, there is evidence that the producers did their absolute best to make this soundtrack something more than a commercial tie-in to the movie, and for that alone they deserve to be praised. It seems like they attempted to address all the complaints music fans make about compilation soundtracks:

    1) They have tons of songs that aren't in the movie.
No problem here. All of the songs on TITAN A.E. are used in the movie, often in particularly memorable sequences ("The End Is Over," "It's My Turn To Fly").

    2) A lot of the songs are available on other CDs.
When this soundtrack was released in 2000, none of the songs were available elsewhere, and since then only three songs ("Over My Head," "Cosmic Castaway," "Not Quite Paradise") have found their way to other albums. In fact some songs featured in the movie (most notably "Higher" by Creed) were apparently left off because they were already available.

    3) Most of the songs aren't actually "inspired" by the movie.
DEFINITELY not this one. The producers of this soundtrack went to such lengths to make sure that the lyrics on the songs were thematically that it's almost a fault: on some songs ("It's My Turn To Fly," "Renegade Survivor") it's so obvious that it borders on corny.

    4) There's nothing that links the songs musically.
This is where TITAN A.E. stars to falter; it's no surprise that this is the most common complaint made about the soundtrack. It starts as an electronic rock album, and ends with electronica tracks that feature rock guitars. This wouldn't be so bad, but there are several songs that stick out like sore thumbs as a result ("Over My Head," "Not Quite Paradise," "Renegade Survivor"). The sudden genre shifts detract signifigantly from the enjoyment of the album as a whole.

In the end, however, a soundtrack is only as good as its songs, and this turns out to be TITAN A.E.'s greatest strength as well as its weakness. There are some absolute gems here--"The End Is Over" is easily one of Powerman 5000's best songs, and "Everybody's Going To The Moon" will make you wonder why you stopped listening to Jamiroquai after 1997--but there's also some real duds here, like Bliss 66's incredibly cheesy "Not Quite Paradise" and Lit's boring opener "Over My Head." Still, the fact that all of these songs are in the movie makes recommending TITAN A.E. easier: if you liked most of the songs in the movie, you'll like the soundtrack.

  3. The thing I like the most about this CD is that every time I listen to it, a new song becomes my favorite. But of course, the breakthrough band discovery was Splashdown. Many times I wish there would be more songs influenced by middle-eastern sounds. Not just because we don't listen to them much, but because the sounds and music scale they use over there is absoluetly cool. In this song I especially love the way they've combined the traditional sounds with a western rock-ish beat. Highly recommended!

  4. This is an absolutely Fan-Freakin'-tastic soundtrack. cosmic castaway is byfar the best song on the album. though creed isnt featured on the album they are featured in the movie (i think its during the end credits) and you know Creed's song wouldnt feel right anywhere during this movie. it doesnt fit and thats why it didnt make it to the soundtrack. each of the songs featured here tie in perfectly with the scenes they were used in. If you loved the movie buy the album!

  5. This CD is a great mix to turn up and sing along with. People who haven't seen the movie like many of the songs. Songs from the movie. Now the deal with CREED's song confusion is simple - their song was NOT in the movie, but was used on some of the TV trailers for the movie. I remember wondering at the theater why I didn't hear CREED the whole time when it had been used for the commercials. Anyway, the soundtrack is excellent, and so was the movie. In my opinion, it's one of the best "older kids/adult" soundtracks for an animated film.

  1. I'm glad that I bought this DVD. I'm a huge Larry the Cable Guy fan. I'll watch everything with him in it. I'm sorry to say that this Christmas special is better than the ones that you see on TV today.

  2. Please be aware this show is not appropriate for children. It's got jokes about Santa Claus having sex with Mrs. Claus. It's got almost-naked strippers shown close-up. It's got language that could get someone on Santa's naughty list. As far as the show itself goes, there are some laughs to be had although most of it is pretty tasteless. Maybe it's just me, but it seems a Christmas show ought to be cleaner? If you want to see some really good Christmas shows, get The Office seasons 2 and 3. Each of those seasons has an excellent Christmas episode you'll probably want to watch over and over.

  3. I bought this dvd for my daughter and son-in-law because they were there in person when they recorded it. I watched it on TV and enjoyed the show myself. Mr. Git-er-done got it done. He came through and you will have some laughs.

  4. i like larry and all but this special was lame and very crude, it was a total waste of viewing time. relying on crude jokes and not funny ones they should've scraped this special all together and burned it. i expected more of larry being clean and fun for a christmas special, i guess he and his writers were scraping the bottom of barrel for laughs cause they're were none. but uglyness and mean sprited against the jolly one.

  1. As a huge AC/DC fan, I loved Jim's impression of the band! Hilarious, accurate and flattering all at once! I also love Jim's Jack Nicholson, I mean he does Jack better than Jack! To the T! His voices, facial expressions are fantastic as are all his stories. Jim,You Rock!!! and so does your back up band! A dvd that will get played over and over.

  2. If you have cable, you probably have seen most of this on Comedy Central. For those cable-challenged, Jim Bruer is most visible from his stint on Saturday Night Live (yeah, he was "goatboy"). He was also stoner "Brian" in the movie Half Baked. Here is his standup (with a heavy metal band backup, thus the "hardcore"). He works the band in whenever he ends a good joke by breaking into some basic AC/DC cloned metal riff. Yeah, I don't get it either, but Bruer is generally funny. He's only got about three basic voices that are spun into whichever character he's trying to bring forth (which accentuate the core of any of his routines), but does so with conviction and keeps the crowd laughing. Much of his humor is embellished stories from Breur's youth, giving him the fan connection of, `Yeah, I probably partied with that guy in highschool'. A couple of added scenes deleted from the Comedy Central special are some bonus laughs. And if you are really into Jim Bruer, you'll dig the extra footage of his first Comedy Central appearances where you might recognize earlier, less polished versions of his later material.

  3. This is utterly and spectacularly lame. Jim Breuer is a modestly talented sketch comic (mid-90's SNL) but excruciating at stand-up. Lots of yelling, mugging, and running around the stage but it just ain't funny, dude. We did smile at his spot-on AC/DC imitation, but that was the show's finale.

Looks like most other reviews here are friends-and-family, with pandering quotes like "You almost get exhausted by just watching him run around the stage like a madman. There is hardly a second that goes by where you're not laughing hysterically." Rrrrrighht... My wife and I were so exhausted we switched to C-SPAN and got more laughs watching "Prime Minister's Question Time" in British Parliament.

  4. Breuer is funny as hell. His stand up is getting better and better. What a difference from his old Comedy Central stand up special (Pulp Comics I think). With his tales of growing up on LI, to him becoming a grown up (yeah ok) its pretty darn funny. Cant wait for him to start working on some new stuff, and maybe make some appearances on the Opie and Anthony XM radio show.

To not find his stuff funny means you have no sense of humor, or like Chris Kattan funny (aka awful/terrible idiot comedy). Didnt laugh once...? C-span...? pffft. Someone has it in for a certain comic. And he pretty much stunk on SNL.

  5. The thing that sets Jim Breuer apart from most comedians today is simple. He's an honest to goodness great storyteller. His jokes are more than just mere setups and puchlines, they are an inside look into his life. When you listen to his standup, you feel as though you've known him for years. Hardcore is a hilarious routine that encapsulates all these elements. From his dead-on impressions of AC/DC, Joe Pesci and Jack Nicholson to imitating his mother talking to him about the type of people he hangs out with, Breuer executes his comedy at brilliant, hilarious lightning speed. He has a limitless amount of energy, his facial expressions are hilarious and his voices are great. This is a must own DVD for anyone who enjoys hilarious, honest comedy.
