  1. I loved the music in this movie and decided to try out the CD. The music is beautiful and peaceful. The song estoy loco is very cute! Try it!

  2. Paulie was the best movie and best soundtrack about a bird. Especially conure! Conures rule!!1 It's got great music for all ages!!!!

  3. i saw the movie and i closely listin to the music its relaxing and it make you feel good

  4. John Debney always has the knack for composing brilliant orchestral themes and over all beautiful music. While there is less than a half an hour of actual score on the CD, I would highly recommend picking up this CD. The score on the CD has its quiet moments, its mischevious moments, and of course moments of pure inspiration. Very few of Mr. Debney's works are released commercially, however take full advantage of the fact that this score is and snatch it up immediately.

  1. This soundtrack is great. I originally bought it because Ed Kowalczyk sang on it. Of course, I love the track "Walk into This Room." It is just beautiful. Some of my other favorites on this soundtrack are "Cigarettes Will Kill You," and "Porcelain." This soundtrack really compliments the movie. You can see different aspects of the characters in the songs.

  2. I got this for christmas and I haven't taken it out of my CD player yet. It is a wonderful eclectic mix of music. I love every track. It is the only CD I own that I listen to each and every track and truly enjoy. Buy it now and see the movie!

  3. This CD is a really outstanding eclectic mix of music. You'll really enjoy this CD, even more than getting a gift certificate to Home Depot!

  4. I like this CD a lot. I picked it up at a used CD store after having seen the movie, not expecting much of anything, and was pleasantly surprised. Overall, it's got a laid back vibe, but it's pensive somehow at the same time. Nice music for a rainy Sunday. Normally, lyrics are what sell me on a track, but the bulk of these tracks kind of just lull you into a mood rather than force you to take them literally. My favorites are "Drinking in LA", because it's just got an enjoyable tune, more electronic than I generally like, but Bran Van 3000 (the first I've heard of this group) makes it work. Also there's "Cigarettes will Kill You" which is the ultimate metaphor for getting in a relationship you intuitively know will just break you in the end. It's a great track by a guy named Ben Lee, whose CDs I'll have to check out in the future. In sum, good CD. See the movie, too.

  5. From my favorite movie comes my favorite soundtrack. Unforgetable scenes such as Trent and Meredith's first kiss -- "Lover's Will" -- are captured perfectly. Buy it, blast it, and have a classically relaxing time!

  1. I just got my Copy of Rockin the Corps...
    Featuring our Boys KISS!!!!

This was a concert/event to pay tribute to the U.S. Marines returning from Iraq, Over 50,000 Marines, sailors and family members attended at Del Mar Beach, Camp Pendleton.

I was going to wait on this one till I saw what others thought...
But in the absence of The "Rock The Nation" DVD ...
    I needed this "fix"...

Well, I wanted to sit back and enjoy the whole show but I couldn't...

So I Zipped to Ted Nugent...Kicking it off with the Star Spangled Banner...
    Than Godsmack....
Boy do these guys get the Party started right!
Godsmack, in the KISS vein, Make sure their fans see a Rock show!
This makes me want to see them all the more.

Ted is in his glory as Godsmack backs him up....
you can see the joy on the faces of the guys in Godsmack
as they look like kids in a candy store getting to Jam with Ted!
A dream of any self respecting Rocker!

After that I had to Zoom to Kiss!!!...
    (I had too...)
Though the Guys did 5 songs that night...
Sadly only 3 are featured here.

    Detroit Rock City
One of the first things that is obvious is
Paul is Not Dancing and Jumping up to his normal form (This being due to this happening shortly after his surgery...).
Does that Stop Kiss from Being entertaining...
    HELL NO!
The Guys kick it and everybody does their thing.
In what one might think of as an unusual sight,
The crowd is littered with folks in Kiss War Paint...
    Gene is unusually animated!!!
reminding me of his younger days.

    Up next is ..
Love Gun ... which Paul kicks off Accapella
and boom the boys are back to Rockin'
Of course the Last song is ...Surprise
    Rock and Roll All Nite!

Wow! The Amount of Pyro they use is amazing!
Paul Smashes a Guitar.. All Hell Breaks Loose...
All is right with the World!

The crowd is really into this show!...
The Bands are giving it up for folks that they respect.
    it shows in every performance.
Even the Bands and entertainers that
    I wasn't necessarily into
    show their Heart.
I could have lived with Richie Sambora doing maybe
1 less song...or Hootie in the Blowfish doing one less...

and Hey!...the could have put the other 2 Kiss songs on there...
Destiny's Child is Easy on the Eyes of The Ken Man...

    So, I was entertained....
    would I recommend it?
it is very entertaining.. YES... should you buy it...
I will say this, A portion of all proceeds has been pledged to benefit our troops and their families through Support The Corps, Inc., a tax-exempt, nonprofit/charitable organization.
so it's a Double Good thing... you get to see our Boys.. and Help our Boys in the Armed Forces...
    Ken

  2. Is that I work at Camp Pendleton & went to this show. What an event. I had recently seen that the dvd was released & will be purchasing it very soon. Now, i'm not in the military ( did spend 11 years as a Navy Corpman ) & am lucky enough to work on the base & had been invited to the show. What these artists did was truly amazing, & what the base did was equally unbelievable. You figure that the stage would be small, no pyro, not a big production. WOW WAS I WRONG. Full pyro, stage sets, the whole 9. Ted, Godsmack, Richie ( who was awesome, can't get enough of acoustic Bon Jovi hits ), & of course KISS were amazing. Destiny's Child ( not really a big fan, but they put on an awesome show, let me tell ya ). Even the other bands i'm not to fond of put on one helluva show ( Hootie, Ja Rule ). Now, like I said, I didn't get the video yet, but after going to this show in person, I KNOW IT'S AWESOME... Enjoy...

  3. Even though you can be against the war in Irak, this is a typical tribute show made with "american style" that is always good to see. I bought because I'm a Kiss fan, but I finally found a good show, good sound, good artists.
Kiss, as always, it's the strongest show. Only 3 songs at the end, but all the power put in stage. Kiss is as good as ever, and this is just one of the proves.

  4. I appreciate the artists who played this show for our Marines. Regardless of your opinions on the current war, the armed forces are still in the line of fire and we should always recognize and honor their service. This was a rare show of support from the entertainment industry which is usually too high on it's own self-important horse to say thanks.

    Now, onto the show...

Godsmack and Nuge kick ass, pure and simple.
    The comedians suck!
Ritchie Sambora does a low-key but respectable set.
    Destiny's Child is smokin' Hot!!

But to be honest, the only reason I went out of my way to see it in the theatre was to see KISS on the big screen. Despite the way-too-long patriotic rant from Paul Stanley KISS rules the stage as always. Only three songs, probably not worth the full asking price for this DVD, and KISS fans will skip to these performances anyway. I'd say save your $$$ for the Rock The Nation DVD releasing in December.

  5. No one ever has or ever will do it quite as good as these guys do.

  1. Hi friends,
i'm from Brazil and i love this movie. I have the soundtrack, but i didn't found the music when Rod is playing to renegociate his contract whith his team. Is like a cuban rap, or something like that.

I love this song, but i just herd once, on this movie.

Please, if somebody can help, many thank's.
    Arley Ramos

  2. Anyone know what's the mariachi song being sung while Rene Zellwegger is returning from the bathroom at the Mexican Restaurant?

  3. I've been trying to find the exact song sung in this movie but I can't. The original version was written by Armando Manzanero and it's name is "Por debajo de la mesa". This one is a very popular song sung by many artists in Latin America, but the best performance by far is by Luis Miguel. Too bad that this CD is missing a few of the melodies heard in the film.

  4. The soundtrack album for JERRY MAGUIRE is deeply flawed.

The first five songs have one thing in common: shaky vocals that border on annoying. Most of the others are simply mediocre. The best here, Springsteen's "Secret Garden," McCartney's "Momma Miss America" and Dylan's "Shelter From The Storm" are just not enough to save or make owning this one worthwhile.

A backward pass for a loss of yardage. (2½ stars)

  5. This soundtrack came out when the only things I was sure of in life was my music, my cats and my strength. I was married to a man much like Jerry McGuire but my guy didn't wise up in time to save the marriage. It was as though the music in this soundtrack had been put together just for me; Wise Up, Sandy, The Horses, Shelter, etc. I enjoyed it then and I still do. I think it's well worth owning.

  1. I like this soundtrack. In particular the track "Possibility". I'm sure I've heard this song in another movie though. I've searched through other soundtracks by Thomas Newman but I can't find it anywhere. Anyway, this and the whole score for the movie creates a great mood for the movie and is great to listen to as an album.

  2. First off I want to say Happy Holidays to everyone. Thomas Newman is one of the most experimental composers out there. His use of melodies and harmonies are unlike any other and his sound is fresh and unique. As usual, with Thomas Newman, I like to list all of the instruments that he uses in his scores, most of them you have probably never heard of. For Pay It Forward, he uses an electric autoharp, dutar, guitars, song bells, wave drums, processed loops, tap eko gate 1 (what the heck is that?), freeze 3 (??), prepared guitars (I guess the other ones are not prepared), alto flute, spit rhythms (I don't even want to know), processed glass (??), slow tubes (unlike the fast ones I suppose), phonographs, an ewi, a processed saz (??), and a piano (finally, something I know). A unique blend of instruments as you can see. There are 2 kinds of music found in the soundtrack. The first is upbeat and lively with plenty of percussion sounds and the use of the odd instrumentation listed above. The second is soft and more laid back with the piano carrying most of the music. The theme itself is found in "Possibility", "Tardiness", and "Desert Drive" and contains the more upbeat type of music described with guitars, piano, and off beat percussion. Other noteworthy cues include the soft piano tracks, including "Fixture Vodka", "One Kiss", "Night and Day and Night", and "Sleepover". Great orchestral music is found in "In Recovery", which Newman does the best at. Most of the rest of the score contains mainly filler music with lots of sound effect related sounds in it. The song "Calling All Angels" by Jane Siberry doesn't really sound much like Angels are being called to me. But, the score is okay and is not Newman's best. Still, a decent listenings worth and that's about it.

  3. This album was completely not relevant to the movie and are overall musically terrible. No one purchase this album.

  4. I too have heard "Possibility" at the menu on another dvd. Or maybe it was "tardiness"..one of them plays while the other dvd waits for you to make a selection....Anyone know which other dvd it is?

  5. I enjoyed this product very much. I rate the movie as one of the best and one that everyone should see and could follow the movie in my head by listening to the dvd. The main reason I bought this dvd was for the last song. I cry every time I listen to it. Very moving.

  1. What can I say, this soundtrack is alot better than the film. I recomend that you get this soundtrack. It has a lot of good 80's song in it.

  2. I have sooo many 80's songs (and love them all), that I didn't need another compilation, except there was a brief scene in the movie where two eastern men are riffing on the surf song "Riptide" on sitars... I loved that and would have bought this disc if it had been included. However, if you're looking for a decent 80s mix, this is a good place to start.

  3. The reason that I bought this soundtrack was to get Harvey Danger's "Save it for later"--great song. This album also has "Cruel to be kind" and a few other great songs you can sing to; however, overall would I recommend going out and buying the entire album if you don't need to--NO. Try and download the songs you like separately.

  4. Never saw the movie, but I found this sndtrk in a bargain bin and took it with me on my road trip back home. Super variety! No problem falling asleep in the car (I was singing!) I believe one or two from Devo assembled the score. No wonder it's sooooo cool!

Just for the record, some reviewers have it wrong. The song "Save It For Later" is by the English Beat; NOT Buddy Holly or General Public!! Sheesh. Check out "What Is Beat?" Great stuff there.

  5. I've always enjoyed Harvey Danger's rendition of "Save It For Later", The Cars' classic "Just What I Needed" and Dire Straits' "Romeo and Juliet." Today, I checked to see what else is on the album, but, to my dismay, Amazon posts only the song titles and NOT the artists. This is not particularly helpful, is it? Therefore, I took the liberty of looking these up on another website and posting them below.

-Elvis Costello---( So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding

    -Dire Straits---Romeo And Juliet

    -The Go-Go's---Our Lips Are Sealed

-Blondie---Blondie Medley: Rapture Exit Loud Allstar Rock Remix

    -Nick Lowe---Cruel To Be Kind

    -Blondie---In The Flesh

    -The Cars---Just What I Needed

    -Harvey Danger---Save It For Later

    -Bow Wow Wow---I Want Candy

    -The Ramones---I Don't Care

    -Girls Against Boys---Boogie Wonderland

    -Joe Jackson---It's Different For Girls

    -B-Movie---Nowhere Girl

    -Roxy Music---More Than This

    -Kool & the Gang---Ladies Night

  1. I've never seen this movie, but my wife loves this CD, and as a result I've heard it a lot. Some of the songs I could live fine without forever. Others are fun.
No Doubt is a band that could cease to exist without altering my life in the least, and their song on here's about what you'd expect from them. If you like them, you might like this. If not....
"Steal My Sunshine" by Len is a fun little summer ditty with female backing vocals, a weird Aqua-type male vocalist, and a jaunty piano line.
And "Gangster Tripping" by Fatboy Slim is probably the soundtrack's best selection--the only one I really love. It starts with hard looped rapping and bursts into horns and beats and turn-table swishing, and stays hip and danceable throughout.
The rest of the album's songs are, for the most part, a mix of hip-hop-sampling techno acts. Some are decent, but they're not exceptional.
I'd recommend just getting "You've Come a Long Way, Baby," the 1998 Fatboy Slim album that "Gangster Tripping" appears on. But that's just my opinion.

  2. 1998, probably the most boring year ever for pop music and this soundtrack reflects it. If you like No Doubt and Matchbox 20 and such you'll love this one. They could have at least put in some cool techno considering the movie revolves around clubbers. Buy the movie and not the soundtrack.

  3. Whilst watching the movie it came to me how well the score was chosen, it really adds something to the movie. As in most good movies where they pay a little attention to the soundtrack you can't help but notice. Most tracks are fun listening to on their own, but if you've seen and liked the movie it's definitely worth buying. Some here think it's mediocre, to me it's more 'cult' á la the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. It's nothing too heavy or serious, but just good fun. And what's wrong with that? ;-)

  4. This is one of the best CD ever! This one will definetly get your party moving!

  5. I liked the movie, but I like the soundtrack better. Very good.
