- Oy, that Jackie sures tickles my ribs - in a manly sort of way. I laughed, I cried, it was much better than Cats. That story about the Rabbi, Jesse Jackson and Bill Clinton had me in stitches! I would recommend this CD to my own mother, if I had one, but that's another story. Shalom.
- Along with Bill Hicks, Jackie Mason is my favorite stand up comedian.
While there is so much anger and frustartion in Hick's genuis comedy, Mason shrugs his shoulders, relaxed, and observant. While Hicks wanted to start revolutions, Mason made fun of everything and anything in a non-committal style. Mason, the ex rabbi is jewish, very..He says so himself, when he always stresses in his shows that the jews find him too jewish, and certainly his humour relies largely on the difference between jews and gentiles, which is what made him famous. But to pigeonhole him as a jewish comedian is unfair, because he delivers the laughs in the other topics he tackles, from Clinton and Bush, Shakespeare and ballet, to Newscasters and Weather forcasts. It is his style, timing and delivery that makes him different from the other comedians, and although some of the subjects do recurr a lot in his shows, despite the sometimes misleading 'brand new' tags,it is always very funny to hear. As a brit of arab origin, many people are quite surprised by how much I rave about Jackie Mason, especially because he tackles political issues in his shows, and is an obvious supporter of Israel, and my answer is always the same, comedy, is like music, an art form that is sophisticated and can help to bring people together regardless of culture and faiths, in an intellectual platform and Jackie Mason, has made me laugh my head off over the years, and for that, he is a true artist, regardless what he is and what his political affiliations are. Pity there aren't many recordings of his available on CDs. In UK where he has gained a large following, there are more titles available, but nonetheless I hope there will be more release of this talented comedian.
- Informatively, I have Mason's DVD's, which I quite enjoy.
However, this CD, labelled, "BRAND NEW," contains many repeats and
situations. In fact, at times I was ahead of Jackie Mason, mouthing word for word the joke and situation he was leading up to me.
Mason spoke as if he was rushing to meet a deadline, to the extent that much of the CD sounded like gibberish. For most of this CD I sat stone faced and suspected that perhaps the applause and clapping of hands were canned.
Mason, in my opinion, went overboard in his use of obscenities,
loudly and in his asides, seemingly contrived for shock value.
As for me, I think that this mislabelled, "BRAND NEW," CD was a
flop, and I would not care to have it in my collection for fear
of the impression I would leave after my demise.
So, another item destined for my shredder.
Finally, I would recommend the Mason DVD's, which I would have preferred with a slower delivery and less obscenities that add
little to his performance.

2 comments about Let's Make Love.
- By the time Marilyn Monroe made "Let's Make Love" she was a truly awesome legendary figure who was at her peak both artistically and musically and sings magnificent in her own seductive and soulful way in a great set of songs that include a stunning Cole Porter classic plus an impressive selection of originals composed especially for this great musical by none other than the legendary team of Sammy Cahn & Jimmy Van Heusen and sadly they don't write them like this anymore! Studio orchestrations are richly varied going from a loose jazz sound with classic latin rhythms to lush romantic backings for Marilyn and her excellent co-stars that include British Pop Singer Frankie Vaughan and French Actor Yves Montand in his first starring role in a major US film. Opening with a fun and playful version of the luscious title song "Let's Make Love", Marilyn then lauches into a classic reading of the Cole Porter masterpiece "My Heart Belongs To Daddy" and brings things out of this standard and goes places that nobody else ever thought of...an amazing soul-stirring performance that easily stands as one of the very finest of Miss Monroe's all too short but totally brilliant career. When this film was released in 1960 it was a huge success with us baby-boomer teens who went to see it and many of us had the original vinyl soundtrack (I still have it!) and fell in love with Marilyn who did this wonderful romantic musical comedy and the classic "Some Like It Hot" back to back!!! With this wonderful score now on compact disc sounding better than ever with additional bonus songs I am sure that many will discover or re-discover that magic of Marilyn who still is incomparable and the brightest star of them all being pure magic on the Silver Screen...and way ahead of her time creating a work that is clearly the forerunner of films such as "Cabaret" and strongly influencing artists such as Madonna...Marilyn is at her best with Frankie and they are superb together in "Specialization" and the jazzy interlude "Strip City" has great keyboards mixed with an awesome kettle drum arrangement that is amazing. Marilyn and Frankie are sublime in a terrific duet version of the title song and "Let's Make Love" features a sultry Marilyn vocal that is tops and wonderfully complimented by a big band studio arrangement that flows and becomes latin for its introduction of Yves Montand whose French charm fits well into the mix...a charming and romantic Frankie Vaughn is captivating with Marilyn in the tour-de-force "Incurably Romantic" which again finds Marilyn superb and in top form...this song is reprised as a duet with Yves and Marilyn who are charming and winning together making this a collection a keeper...instrumental interludes such as "Christmas Eve Waltz" are fascinating and add to the great feel of this superb soundtrack classic which somehow has strangely been overlooked except by us real Marilyn connoisseurs who know that entertainment like this will never happen again as there was only one Marilyn Monroe! Closing is an intoxicating version of "Let's Make Love" by Marilyn and Frankie that show that talent like this is a once in a lifetime thing and I am glad greatness such as this was in mine!!!! Bravo Marilyn Monroe~your voice made love to us unlike any other and your beauty is eternally breathtaking...and you are loved and missed so very much!
- High quality sound. I bought the LP 20 years ago when I was 18. Now I have this great CD which has 13 tracks (instead of the 8 or 9 tracks included in former soundtracks).
Jazz, latin music, unforgettable duets...
AND...a never released before version of LET's MAKE LOVE (trio with Montand and Vaughan with Monroe singing lyrics unheard in the other well known version of this song). How come they never released this version before? But what an excitement to discover something new!!
Plus another short version which is the opening credits of the movie. I love it..This CD highlights the obvious flair Marilyn had for singing.

5 comments about The Blair Witch Project: Josh's Blair Witch Mix [Enhanced CD].
- This is a great listen. Everything in this is dark and gloomy, which I like, and of course if you're going to have a "gothic" soundtrack, you have to include Bauhaus, and this is one of Bauhaus's best tracks. Everything on this is haunting and spooky, like "She's Unreal", that song made me feel creeped out for some reason, maybe it was the lyrics, but I love that song too. I didn't like the movie that much, and the clip that came with this CD was just more of the same stuff. This CD is reccomended to anyone who likes dark rock music.
- I had never heard of any of the artists on this CD, but I'd listened to a few songs before on the movie's webpage. I bought the CD on a whim, and soon began to listen to it at least twice a day. It is, without a doubt, one of my favorite. Lydia Lunch's haunting voice and screeching saxophone (maybe?) starts the CD in a strangely beautiful way. The Order of Death is also one of my favorites--it has energy and excellent instruments and gets your adrenaline going, then the CD slows down for Skinny Puppy's sad song full of strange sound effects. Then the beautiful acoustics of Bauhaus reminds us of prophecies long ago and ends rather suddenly after the phrase "The Sky Will Open!", leaving us with a void filled by The Creatures. The strange ungendered voice and minor chords of the guitar put me in the mind of Nine Inch Nails, and the song is creepy as well as wonderful. Then Laibach suddenly picks up the pace with the operatic tone combined with scratchy prophecies about the power of God. The Afghan Whig's sad, slow melody comes next with a warning about the people you think you know and a yearning for love in his voice. Front Line Assembly fills the air with weird sounds of people talking and laughing while forcing out grated phrases about abuse and fear. Then, the climax of the whole CD is "Haunted" by Type O Negative, which begins slowly and beautifully, then becomes minor and dark, then has a man talking about his spirit lover and all the poetry she brings out in him, then goes on again to the dark, deep voice and minor chords about hating the morning and ends somewhat slow with the humming. Very, very inspiring. "She's Unreal" is somewhat repetative but neatly picks up where "Haunted" abruptly ends, and includes some interesting experimentations with sounds. "Movement of Fear" starts to slowly wrap up the CD with the feeling of slow panic, but also like you have to give in. Then CD ends with "The Cellar", a track of the noises heard in the movie that slowly ends, leaving you wired and ready to listen again. All in all, it is much more of a masterpiece than the movie, which was pretty bad. Had they made the movie revolve around some of the ideas these songs represent, it would have been wonderful.
- A Soundtrack to a movie with no music? No, this is not some shallow attempt to cash in on a successful film (surprisingly), but rather a very good goth-industrial compilation disc. In the context of the film, one of the doomed kids put together a mix tape to put them in the mood as they headed out to the woods to make their ill-fated documentary. This CD is that mix, and it couples with the movie and the website (blairwitch.com) very nicely to create a true multimedia experience. Even if you haven't seen the movie, the CD stands on its own as a great goth- industrial sampler if you want to know more about that kind of music. Also, the film's haunting closing credit music is included.
- IF SOME ONE KNOW THE MEANING OF THIS BULL SH.T LET ME KNOW,YOU TELL ME!!
- I saw the film and I loved it. One of the best movies I've seen, and to make it more interesting there's a soundtrack, and a very aprropriate one too. The music on this CD is gothic mixed with 80's and 90's rock, like 'Front Line Assembly'. I love this kind of music and despise pop, so if you like pop music then you will hate this CD. But if you like pop then why are you even considering buying this CD? Unless you have freakishly diverse tast in music. And, this CD has film footage that you don't see in the movie that should play on Windows Media. This CD has a great little collection of music from the 80' and 90's if you're into that and not the film. There's just one thing I didn't like about this CD, and that's the stupid audio taken from the film in-between tracks (i.e. Heather talking). It's only like in-between one or two but its annoying! But otherwise its a great CD!
