5 comments about Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends - Cranky Bugs & Other Thomas Stories.
- I have this one on video instead of DVD. Most of the stories are good, ecspcially Lady Hatt's Birthday Party, and Cranky Bugs. Busy Going Backwards isn't too bad either. Alec Baldwin's narration is good, although his Toad voice is a bit iffy! Alec B. is on my good Thomas list! The story "A Better View For Gordon is okay, but it has an unrealistic crash. Put aside that episode and you've got yourself a pretty good Thomas video. I got it when I was 4 and I loved it. I am now 10 years old and I still watch it!

I got it when I 4 and a half. I am now 10 years old and I still watch it! If you get this video, It will be cherished forever.
- As usual you cannot go wrong with Thomas - Kids learn morals and manners in an easy to listen and view forum.
This is a little dull compared to most Thomas DVD's.
- We ordered this DVD for our son after borrowing the same version on VHS from a friend. My son loved the "Night Train" song so much that we ordered this DVD for the song alone. However, the "Night Train" is not on the DVD version, which makes absolutely no sense that the DVD and VHS versions would not contain the same stories (and the "Night Train" was listed as the last story on the VHS). We now have endless requests for the song and will now have to order the VHS. This DVD was a ripoff. Just order the VHS and save your money.
- My oldest son LOVES Thomas & Friends and this was the movie he asked for at Christmas. He absolutely loves this movie. I think it is pretty short but it doesn't bother him at all!

5 comments about Thomas the Tank Engine - Best of Thomas.
- Let me start of by saying that viewer selected doesn't mean they have to be great. Thomas's first ever episode Thomas gets Tricked wasn't even in it. I thought Better Late than Never, Thomas comes to Breakfast, Thomas Breaks the Rules, and Thomas and Bertie's Great Race were far better than some of these like Thomas and Stepney or a New Friend for Thomas. Were they really that good. Thomas was barely in both of them. Thomas meets the Queen didn't excalty focus on Thomas. Are these viewers really stupid becasue these epiodes weren't great. And I really think they shoulda kept the Ringo Starr narrations.
- Here is Best of Thomas. Now the stories on here are good but there were alot more out there that should've been one this video. Let me start by saying that they didn't put one of the greatest stories of all time on here, Thomas Comes To Breakfast. That one was a perfect Thomas episode. Other ones that should have been on here include Thomas Gets Tricked, Trust Thomas, Thomas and Bertie's Great Race, Thomas Goes Fishing, Double Trouble, Better Late Than Ever, The Runaway, I could go on for ever but I'm sure you get my point. Thomas & Stepney and A New Friend For Thomas should not have been on here because Thomas is not the main character in both of these even though the title might have his name in it. I had to give this one 4 stars because of the numurous amount of Thomas stories that could have been on here and weren't. A part 2 of Best of Thomas might be needed. Anyway, this is a great video to buy because it does have some great Thomas moments. Here are the stories: Thomas Gets Bumped, A New Friend For Thomas, Thomas Percy and the dragon, Thomas Saves The Day, Trouble For Thomas, Thomas & Stepney, A Big Day For Thomas, Thomas Meets The Queen, and the music video "Really Useful Engine". And that wrapps up my review for Best of Thomas, hope it was helpful for you. :)
- This is one of the nicest Thomas videos out there, in our opinion. It's just very nice how the engines work together, work out their problems together, and support each other along the way. It's particularly interesting when they show the breakdown train getting James out of the mud and onto the track again after those bad freight cars shove him off the track. They get taught a lesson in this video and it's quite nice. When the trains are getting prepared to meet the Queen, then the really shine.
This video is full of great lessons and very well done graphics. This is actually one of our favorites and it gets watched in our house quite often. My little one just loves it. Great video and a great price!
- The DVD has a terrible amount of advertising that you're forced to watch before you can see any of the Thomas stories. It's advertising other Thomas products, so it's actually interesting the first time through. But you'll be forced to watch the advertising EVERY time you play this. Other DVDs are programmed so you can jump straight to the menu and skip the advertising. Not this one.
Once you run the advertising gauntlet and earn the right to watch videos, they're excellent as always. But given that all the Thomas collections are excellent, you should buy something other than this one.
- This DVD forces you to watch boatloads of commercials. It will not allow you to skip or even fast forward through them.

5 comments about Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends - The Early Years (3-Disc Set).
- This is clearly the best collection of the best stories from the series. They are taken directly from the original stories, and Ringo Starr is an excellent storyteller for them. (When I read the original stories to my three year old, I now use Ringo's inflections!)
My only complaint is that these DVDs are SHORT! Sure, they brag to collect 26 stories, but the stories are about five minutes each! I see no reason to spread about two hours of content out over two DVDs!
That complaint out of the way, this set is true to the spirit of the original stories, capturing their charm. (If you can't tell, I recommend getting the original stories too, and read them at bedtime. To your child, that is, although you'll enjoy them too!)
- A year ago the Wiggles' movie 'Cold Spaghetti Western' was played every day at my house. Now it's all about Thomas. My 3 1/2 year old just loves it. And, just like the Wiggles' movie, I love it too. These DVDs of the 1st season with Ringo Starr as the narrator are the best. There's a continuing storyline that runs from one episode to the next that you miss watching this on TV. The DVD's also all start playing again on their own which is great for super long car rides with handy car dvd players.
I would buy this again in a second.
- I just got this for my 5 yr old son, and not only does he love it but his 3 yr old sister as well. We already had a VHS version of Better Late Than Never which was used (from my neighbor). So I already knew how much better Ringo Starr's narration is than George Carlin and Alec Baldwin. This set is great! 13 episodes on the first two disks. The sound and video quality is great. Just wish I could get more of these older stories with Ringo on DVD.
- Not to knock any of the subsequent Thomas videos, but this is the best, closest to the great stories written by Rev. Awdry. I specifically sought this out to be viewed while reading the stories to my child...it really brings 'm to life! Ringo Starr is the best narrator out there for the Thomas stories...all these other actors 'n such can't hold a candle to him. A MUST if you like Thomas!
- Growing up as a child i watched Thomas and friends all the time, back then it was called Thomas the tank engine.but as i grew up i stopped watching it and soon forgot about it all together till one magical day back in November of 2006 when i was channel surfing and discovered a piece of my childhood.I quickly became interested in the show and what was happening that was when i was 15 yrs old, after that day i began to watch Thomas and friends all the time, i found out it was on Pbs on demand and quickly began watching the episodes they had for viewing.
to the dvd review:
i beleive the early seasons of Thomas and friends to be the best, where everything looked old and like it was made in the 80's call me nostalgic if you will, and in this dvd set you get the whole first season narrated by Ringo Starr. each episode is 5 mins long and the episodes begin automatically when you put the dvd in and after all the episodes finish playing it plays again all by itself. if you, your kids, or someone you know like Thomas and friends treat them to this special gift because im sure they'll love it, Thomas and Friends is perfect for anyone of any age. I find it great that im still in love with the show at the age of 17 when all these things in my are goin on. thnx for taking the time to read my first review and i hope it helped :D

1 comments about Thomas the Tank Engine: Thomas and the Treasure.
- This new dvd is the second season 10 dvd and the final season 9 dvd so as you can probably tell this is a combination of season 10 and season 9
Thomas and the Treasure(season 10)- It's about when Salty tells Thomas James and Emily a story about Pirate Treasure Thomas Sets off to find it It is okay can be boring at times but great for little kids if they like stories about pirate treasure
Duncan's Bluff (Season 10)- James and Duncan have to deliver coal and they have a contest to find out who can deliver coal the fastest and Duncan decides to hide his coal cars but after he makes James work so hard that he runs out of coal Duncan thought badly about what he had done
pretty good the moral is that its not good to lie and anyone can be really useful in their own way
Skarloey the Brave (Season 9)- After an incident with some coal cars skarloey tries to prove that he is the bravest so he tries to go up the winch but it breaks skarloey feels bad cause now the villigars wont be warm so he decides to deliver the coal himself
So-so the moral of the story is that be responsible is much better than being brave
Big Strong Henry (Season 10)- Gordon says the henry is not strong after being chosen to deliver supplies for farmer mc coll but everyone tries to cheer Henry up by calling him Big Strong henry but they make Henry get carried away and cause some hay trucks to get smashed but when henry is clearing them away Gordon looses the cows so henry decides to help out by getting them to follow the hay to their new shed so henry is very helpful and clever Henry
the moral of the story is don't get carried away about what people call you just be yourself nice episode and nice moral
Thomas Day Off (Season 9)- When Thomas has a day off he meets Dennis the new diesel and Dennis tricks by doing most of his work by lying but when Dennis does get into trouble no one is there to help
Introduces Dennis the lazy Diesel
the moral of the story is that is better if you do your work and not make lies to get someone to do it for you
Seeing the Sights (Season 10)- Thomas has to take some visitors to show them around the island he gets impatient when Gordon tells him he can show them more place than Thomas can. Thomas gets so impatient he leaves all of visitors behind at each place.
The moral of the story is be patient with people don't rush them
If your kid likes Thomas and you want them to learn about being responsible and patiences and enjoy hearing a story about treasure then i guess this would be the dvd for you!

5 comments about Thomas & Friends: Carnival Capers.
- My son likes Thomas the Tank Engine Videos and this one is no diffferent. Plus, I was able to fine this video on Amazon before it was out at local retailers.
- My grandson spent a wonderful hour watching this movie or rather a series of shows the other night. He loves the Island of Sodor and was not disappointed.
- My grandson will sit and watch this over and over. If your child likes trains and is under 5yrs. he will enjoy it.
- My 2 year old daughter loves Thomas and Friends! I really enjoy watching too, and this DVD is one of my favorites. The familiar engines (Thomas, Percy, James, Gordon, Edward, Henry, Emily, and Toby) make appearances, and several newer characters are introduced or featured, such as Rosie, Rocky, and Sir Handel. Here is a list of episodes on the Carnival Capers DVD and the special features in between episodes. I've also included the engines that appear in each episode.
Percy And The Carnival - The engines getting ready for the carnival, but Percy is jealous because he only gets to deliver coal. (Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, Toby, James, Emily, and the Chinese Dragon appear in this episode)
Which engine is hidden under the coal dust?
Thomas And The Birthday Mail - This story introduces Rosie, a new engine, for the first time. Rosie wants to be just like Thomas, but Thomas gets really annoyed that Rosie is always following him around. (Harold makes a brief appearance)
Which job can Rosie do?
A Smooth Ride - Sir Handel is an older engine who has been known as one of the smoothest engines on the Narrow Gage Controller's railway. However, Sir Handel has trouble going up hills. There's only one problem... the Narrow Gage Controller keeps sending him to do jobs where he has to go up hills! (Thomas, Peter Sam, Duncan, and Mighty Mac make brief appearances)
A song about the newer engines.
The Green Controller - Sir Topham Hatt has lost his voice, so Lady Hatt comes to Tidmouth Sheds and puts Percy in charge. Percy is excited about being in charge, but gets confused when giving Gordon, James, and Toby their jobs. (Thomas also appears)
Thomas and his friends play a game: which engine is in which shed?
Edward Strikes Out - Edward meets the big new crane named Rocky. Edward doesn't think Rocky can be very useful since he doesn't have his own engine and would have to be pulled by another engine. (Thomas, Percy, Gordon, Harvey, and Emily appear)
A story about Harvey and Rocky and which jobs they are suited for.
Thomas's Frosty Friend - Thomas gets annoyed by a snowman that follows him around... but he doesn't know the snowman is a balloon that has gotten caught on his buffers. (Percy, Gordon, James, and Emily appear)
Thomas and Friends theme song.
- You can't go wrong with this video. Loaded with lots of Thomas's friends, cute sing along songs, short stories, long stories, and interactive guessing games (just like the TV show). My son is 21 months and loves Thomas & Friends as seen on PBS, but since it is only on a few days a week, we purchased a few videos. He loved this one. Not a single complaint. Another great feature of HIT programing is that you don't have to press play several times to get the vidoe to begin - it begins the program automatically...great for when your tot is in a hurry for Thomas, or you need to calm him/her quickly with no time to spare fussing with the remote over and over or waste time watching a bunch of comercials or pre-movie garbage. GREAT BUY!
By the way, if your little one is like mine and can't get enough Thomas, visit their website [...]. There is so much to do there: games, videos, songs, printable coloring pictures and more. My son loves it!

1 comments about Thomas & Friends: Mud Glorious Mud.
- I am sure these are all repeat episodes, however unlike other Thomas DVDs where they repackage really old episodes and in do them in bad quality, this one is pretty good. The color quality is good and episodes not that old.
Here are the stories:
-Edward the really useful engines
-Thomas and the avalanche
-Missing Freight cars
-Mud Glorious Mud (my son loves this - mud AND construction)
-A friend in need
-Edward, Trevor and the really useful Party
3 Sing-along songs:
-night and day
-Togetherness
-Engine roll call

5 comments about Jerry Seinfeld Live on Broadway: I'm Telling You for the Last Time.
- I think People sometime's forget just what a brilliant comedian Jerry Seinfeld really is. The television series was remarkable and the best ever, in my opinion. This movie; Jerry Seinfeld Live on Broadway: I'm Telling You for the Last Time, reminds us that the show was based on material that Jerry came up with. I have had the pleasure of seeing Jerry twice in Sacramento, California. He is brilliant with the most impeccable timing I have witnessed. This movie captures Jerry at the peak of his performing prowess with timeless material that serves as a testament to his sharp wit and billiant comedic mind. 5 Stars!
- Jerry Seinfeld in his DVD "I'm Telling You for the Last Time" (1998) delivers as a consummate comedian. Seinfeld has the unique ability to see complexity and detail in supposedly simplistic everyday life and things. These include aspects like airflight traveling, cab drivers, airport bathrooms, doctors and waiting rooms, grocery stores, elderly folks in Florida, McDonalds, horses, and so much more. What is seemingly irrelevant and unnoticeable, is what Seinfeld can turn into jokes, and simultaneously keep the audience laughing and pondering, and talking about it the next day. Because much of what he portrays is based on common daily circumstances, Seinfeld's comedy is largely timeless. He certainly comes across as a meticulous master observer, one who gathers up unnoticeable and ignored detail in everyday life, and transmits this through comedy. Here are bits of Seinfeld humor. "Airline peanut bags are too small, dig?...so are airline booze bottles and bathrooms." "When people go to the store they can never remember if they have enough milk." "New York cabbies are bad smelling foreigners and airport security guards are too fat."
Notably, Seinfeld loves the short Question-Answer technique. He asks the audience, why this and this happens, and while they laugh at the seemingly simple yet intriguing question, he offers an answer that people would not expect, sending the audience into a frenzy of uncontrollable laughter. Example: "Dogs are broke all their lives. You know why they have no money? No pockets. They see change on the street--there's nothing they can do about it." Not to mention, most of Seinfeld's jokes are fresh. Furthermore, profanity does not exist in his routine, something he is so much credited for, given the significant employment of profanity by many comedians. Look at more of Seinfeld's comedy: "I'm going to tell you the secret of the male mind---all men think of themselves as low-level superheroes."
Jerry Seinfeld is remarkably comfortable on stage. He starts his joke routine casually then digs in with mostly fresh material. His appeal also has to do with his humility, calmness and ease, as well as genuine appreciation for his audience, all this despite the high level of success with his television show. Seinfeld even allows for audience questions, an aspect quite rare among comedians. Seinfeld is genuinely touched when the audience gives him a standing ovation whether at the beginning of or at the end of his set. Both on TV and stage, Seinfeld is a highly skillful comedian. The combination of his TV show (that ran for an impressive 9 years) and the stage performances build him into a much greater performer. The TV show offers more flexibility and body expression, whereas Seinfeld demonstrates far less facial expressions in the stage acts. Nevertheless, Seinfeld dramatizes that comedy can come across plainly but excellently without the employment of grotesque facial expressions that many comedians are known for.
While using some of the most mundane things in life for his material, he still possesses and transmits an intellectual form of humor. The Seinfeld performing on the DVD is quite the same as the television Seinfeld. Many of the jokes are familiar, and even those that are not tend to sound like they are. That Seinfeld is also consistent in the humor from start to finish is undeniable. Further, Seinfeld tends to appeal to quite a wide audience, that transcends gender and even age to some extent, just as long as this audience is in tune with his intellectual oriented humor. Some of his jokes do have a mature backdrop, but overall Seinfeld's comedy can be enjoyed by both young and old. A good example that gathers a wide breadth of laughs is the segment about trick-or-treating as a child and drive toward a constant need for candy. Much of Seinfeld's presentation is about Seinfeld's writing ability combined with physical representations of the off-the-wall characters he has met.
- If you are a fan of the stand up comedy of Jerry Seinfeld then this is a must in your DVD collection!! From milk to cab drivers to candy to Chicken of the Sea,it is still outrageously funny. 75 minutes of pure comedy plus cameo appearances at the beginning with Ed McMahon, Jay Leno, Robert Klein,Gary Shandling, and the late Alan King among others. This is great comedy Jerry Seinfeld's way! Okay we have the complete "Seinfeld" collection, "I'm Telling You for the Last Time", "Jerry Seinfeld Comedian" and in a few months,"Bee Movie" to add to the collection! Just enjoy!!
- What can you expect from a used product... The CD had scratches and the cover was pretty worn... decided not to give it as a gift because it looked like I found it in a thirft store.
- Jerry Seinfeld is good at being funny. This DVD doesn't let you down! He sees everyday things that we all notice and finds a way to make them funny. You'll often find yourself thinking "That is so true!" Another plus is the fact that Jerry doesn't swear at all which is always a difference when talking about stand up comdedians.
The only minus i can think of is you can watch it once and then remember most of the jokes, which makes the next time you watch it not quite as funny. It's also missing the classic writing of Larry David and 3 other actors to make it as hilarious as the usual 'Seinfeld'.
Good fun for a rainy weekend.
