  1. This recording was my introduction to Eddie Izzard, the fast-talking, quick-witted English comic with a penchant for transvestism. Despite the promise of the title, "Unrepeatable," I found most of his subject matter, such as laundry and "Star Trek," pretty tame, even if it is peppered with the occassional four-letter word. Izzard's enthusiastic, rapid-fire delivery often sells a joke, even when the gag itself is not that funny.

  2. This is the best of his DVD's(better even than Glorious) Must see: Different settings for phaser on Star Trek include swimmers ear and left oven on at home; The Great (cat) Escape; New Improved pet food.

You will laugh long after you have seen this DVD. Mondy Python influence is very strong here but is not a rip off. More like an homage. Though full length, you will find it is too, too short! A must have for Eddie Izzard fans as well as Brit-Com fans looking for Artists influenced by Monty Python.

  1. Upbeat and heartwarming, each song has a purpose on this soundtrack. There are fun and upbeat songs, and there are songs that are sad. This soundtrack is pretty simular to the Legally Blonde original soundtrack. There are also cool romance songs, which mixes this soundtrack perfectly; happy songs, sad songs, and romance songs, so this soundtrack creates a great variety to the listener. I like each song on this soundtrack, them all being worth the listen to. But, some songs on the soundtrack are from other soundtracks; "No Sleep 2nite" from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants original soundtrack, and "One and Only" from Aquamrine original soundtrack, giving you a clear idea of how them soundtracks are by listening to them. This soundtrack is missing some songs though, disappointing...

    1. No Sleep 2nite _ Molly McQueen 5/5
    2. Rescue Me _ Rachel Robinson 5/5 (Favorite)
    3. The Joker _ Fatboy Slim featuring Bootsy Collins 5/5
    4. Love Is A Game _ The Magic Numbers 4/5
    5. O What A Glorious Thing _ Akira The Don 5/5
    6. It Don't Matter _ Donavon Frankenreiter 4/5
    7. Oye Como Va _ Chad Fischer 4/5
    8. Everything's Right _ Matt Wertz 5/5
    9. One & Only _ Teitur 5/5
    10. Lover Come Up _ Josh Kelley 4/5
    11. She Drives Me Crazy _ Fine Young Cannibals 4/5 (eighties!)
    12. Love Love Love _ Tristan Prettyman 5/5
    13. I Got You _ Eskimos of Love 4/5
    14. No Sleep 2nite (SXG Ext Summer Mix) _ Molly McQueen 5/5 (great mix!)

If you liked this, you may like:
    1. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants original soundtrack
    2. Aquamarine original soundtrack
    AND
    3. Legally Blonde original soundtrack

    Hope you enjoy!

    Overall grade* A-

  2. Each songs are really good but I don't understand why it's said that no sleep 2nite is sung by Molly MCqueen and not the Faders (is the band seperated?!).Anyway even if I already knew the song it was a nice way to start the compilation with (but the remix was a little unnecessary).Rachel Robinson's rescue me song is defenatly one of my favorites along with love is a game, one and only, lover come up,love love love and I got you.It was also fun to have two hits on the CD (a recent and an oldy),the joker and she drives me crazy. So if you are into romantic comedy soundtrack style, this one's made for you.Let's hope the movie is as good as it is.

  1. With the entire Eddie Izzard catalog inherently being compared to "Dress to Kill" by fans everywhere, the performance made by our favorite Executive Transvestite in "Circle" definitely gives D2K a run for it's Oscar money.

At the very beginning, a catchy bit of theme music sets the attitude for the beginning of the show. Eddie's irreverence shines brightly in the very first seconds of his dialogue ("Hi, welcome to New York... you probably live here...?") What follows is a cataclysmic roller coaster that takes you from Pope Man (and his sidekick Alter Boy, armed with Holy Water and Jesus Disks) to a universe that is awesome like a hot dog!

Eddie's delivery isn't close to perfect, which is what makes his performance perfect. His free-flowing thought keeps you captivated for the entire show. To go from organ players at Baseball games to the meek deciding that they don't need to inherit the Earth? You'll wonder how you ever got there, but you'll laugh the entire time.

My only recommendation would be to see the DVD of this show first. It's not a big deal (the show is incredible either way) but to understand all the physical segments beyond audio comprehension, the DVD is a must. Either way, "Circle" is a seamless performance that is, simply put, "awesome" (like a hot dog.)

  2. Eddie Izzard is the greatest comic I have come across. He smart and really makes you laugh. Buy this CD.

  3. The funniest thing on the cd was the star wars canteen bit with Darth Vader and cashier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eddie gets funnier each time I hear him.

  1. Review of this CD-

If you saw the DVD for Dress to Kill you will be dissapointed in the CD. The performance isn't quite as on, and the entire Tea and Cake or Death bit is misssing as is the french encore. The man is still the funniest comic I have ever come across, but the brilliance doesn't shine through

    Review of Eddie Izzard-

I love him. The humor is smart and clean (other than maybe 3 lines from the puberty and lost my virginity bits and swearing)
The jokes aren't fed to you and he has the most original humor I've heard. He reminds me of Terry Pratchett in a wierd way. If your a fan of Discworld you'll probably enjoy Eddie Izzard. Not that the two are remotely related

Review of Dressed to Kill in relation to other shows-

On DVD, the best. It's a run through recent history branching into various hysterical tangents on everything and it's just amazing.

  2. This isn't the same record as the on the DVD. If you're choosing between them, I would definitely recommend the DVD: Eddie is playing for a bigger audience, the crowd is more receptive, and he's a bit more energetic. Since the DVD was for a live HBO special, you can tell that everyone knows the stakes are higher, and Eddie performs brilliantly. The DVD may also be advantageous becaus Eddie is a very physical comedian, and fully appreciating jokes oftentimes requires seeing him.

On the other hand, this album is good in its own right. It's mostly the same material (some chunks are left out from the DVD), and I found it interesting to see him reperform jokes. He's said in interviews that because of his dyslexia, he never writes his material down, so when he performs the same bit, it's always in slightly different language. Fans know that Eddie is always spinning at an extremely fast mental speeed, and jokes are always going to get lost between the cracks. I would definitely recommend this to fans, because I now understand so many jokes that I didn't quite hear or quite understand from the DVD.

The material is some of the best that Eddie has ever produced. Choose one, perhaps, the CD or the DVD, but don't let this performance slip through your fingers!

  3. This CD is very funny. But I had heard another version that was copied off the computer and many of the funniest bits were left out of this CD. There are no "flags", no "tea and cakes or death", no "crazy queen" or snowboarding. What's left is still hilarious.

  4. I just got this CD today, and I am really disappointed. I had ordered the Dress to Kill DVD and absolutely love it. But this audio recording is not from the same show. No Englebert Humperdink, no "tea and cake or death". Even the bits that were on there were not the same - Stone Henge, Heimlich Manouver, etc. If you had not seen the DVD, it would probably do nicely. But since I had seen it, it was just not the same.

  5. Amazing! I loved his dvds and since i've been commuting to work lately I thought it would be a nice change up from music. I was right! Keeps me entertained the whole way there.

  1. Classic Eddie Izzard - couldn't be better. His funniest show I've seen or heard!

  2. I love the Definite Article CD! It's even better than the DVD! If you own Eddie's DVDS, get the CDS too, or you are missing some great stuff.

  3. Put it on your MP3 player and you will find yourself repeating the lines, the different languages and shouting like Old Ladies with hair nets. "IM BLOODY 82! I can still stare!"

This is by far my favorite!

  1. Review of this CD-

Wonderful. The entire show from the DVD is on here, unlike Dress to Kill where some of the best parts are missing from the CD. I think the performance on here is a little better than the DVD, the audience is definetly better. You don't miss any visual jokes and getting it on CD means you can put it on your I pod and play it for your friends and convert them. The only thing this is missing from the DVD is the glorious pantsuit he wears and the little trailer dealio from "lust for glorious".

    Review of Eddie Izzard-

The best comic in the world. If you're sick of Chris Rock screaming obscenities, if your sick of everything being about nothing but sex. If you are sick of things not being funny, find Eddie Izzard and restore your faith in stand up. His humor is smart, clean (other than some swearing) and absolutely hysterical.

Review of Glorious as compared to other shows-

Whereas Unrepeatable was "about" life and Dress to Kill was "about" history, Glorious is "about" religion. If the scale of funny is 1-5, 5 being highest then Dress to Kill is 5, Glorious is 4.7 and Unrepeatable is 4.3.

  2. I first saw Eddie Izzard while watching HBO one Saturday night. The concert was entitled "Dressed to Kill". I had never heard of Eddie before, and by the time it was over, I was wondering what rock I had been dwelling under to have never seen this brilliant comic.

"Glorious", while not quite as even as "Dressed", still left me in tears. The show begins with a Eddie's take on the book of Genesis, then travels on towards the Trojan horse ("Bye! Well done! Here's a horse for you..per usual..Bye!"), takes a hard left into the British Monarchy, shower water temperature and baboons in mime, before ending up in the book of Revelations. And, the encore is probably the funniest 8 minutes of comedy I have seen in a long while.

Intelligent, quick, witty and hip, Eddie Izzard shines thoughout this DVD. Be sure to check out the DVD extras, including the hilarious blow by blow, joke by joke running commentary by Mr. Izzard himself.

I recommend this without hesitation as I know that any fan of comedy will enjoy it! And, at the very least, I'm certain that you'll be quoting it for weeks :).

  1. I own the UK version of this DVD and can highly recommend it. Although not as good as 'Dress to Kill', Eddie still gives a strong performance with plenty of humour and laughter. The extra of him and his Dad touring his Father and Grand-Fathers old houses is very interesting and quite charming. A very good buy in my oponion.

  2. This is not one of his best shows. A little draggy (excuse that), unfocused, and just really not as good as some of the
others. I wanted to get the DVD, and we got half way to 3/4 of the way through it and went and did other things. If you're an Eddie Izzard fan, it's a must have. If this is you're first time, do "Dressed to Kill".

  3. The "Sexie" tour followed on the heels (no pun intended) of Eddie's outstanding "Dressed To Kill" production. After hundreds of plays on HBO, and the release of the DVD, "Dressed To Kill" raised audience expectations for "Sexie" to a completely unrealistic level.

At the "Sexie" performance I attended, audience members relentlessly screamed "Cake or death!" and "Do you have a flag?" at Eddie - like Led Zeppelin fans pleading for "Stairway" from Jimmy Page. Eddie finally had to stop and remind the audience that THIS is a different show. Indeed. It stands as a completely unique entity as do all of his previous shows. This isn't his funniest work. It's not "Dress To Kill," and to be absolutely fair, what could be? "Dressed To Kill" is lightening in a bottle. "Sexie," however is every bit as hilarious as his earlier work on "Circle" and "Glorious."

That isn't to say that "Sexie" isn't funny. It IS funny! Very funny. Eddie put together some wonderfully twisted views on history, Greek mythology, guide dogs using commando hand signs to get their charge across a busy street, ponders why there isn't a "Sharky" equivalent to "Flipper," and he imagines Christopher Walken performing "Hamlet." "Sexie" deserves a place in anyone's Izzard collection.

I DO wonder why the "Sexie" DVD hasn't been released in the U.S. Gee, perhaps some studio executives think that the self-proclaimed "Executive Transvestite" in full drag was a bit much for American audiences? Oh get over it! Give America "Sexie" on DVD. The exposition on silicone breast enhancements bursting while at flight altitude on an airplane needs to be SEEN to be truly appreciated. Eddie is a visual comedian. His body language and facial expressions are half the fun.

In the meantime, this two CD collection will have to serve as the memory of the "Sexie" tour - unless you choose to purchase the U.K. DVD and play 'region switching' with your DVD drive (which I did, and my "Sexie" DVD is personally signed by Eddie. Nah-Nyah. ;-) It's a good thing to visit his web site and sign up for the newsletter.)

  4. It can be said that Eddie Izzard burning at half-light is still brighter than most comedians working today. Monsieur Izzard is admittedly more distracted now, with film work coming first and standup comedy as second priority, but what comes through loud and clear here is the continued workings of a brilliant comedic mind. Sure, it's not "Dress To Kill" (D2K), but it is worth the price of admission for the dedicated Izzardite.

There were two releases of the "Sexie" show, this audio-only version and a DVD release, with this being the better and more lively of the two. It was recorded in Brighton, a town known for its understated wildness going back several generations, and the energy is contagious. The DVD, available for British regions only, was recorded at a performance in Eastbourne which is essentially a retirement community - that was a mistake. The audience has no energy, and more than a little confusion and fear, with Eddie having to make up the difference all by himself. Not fun to watch. There's an extra feature on that package, though, of Eddie with his dad, which is touching as well as funny and worth seeing once if you get the chance.

If you use "Dress To Kill" as the yardstick by which to measure Eddie's more recent work, you're going to be disappointed no matter what he does. In the process of doing so, you will miss some entertaining and funny stuff.

  5. I think I have all of Eddie's work in one form or another; he's my favorite transvestite comedian. However, this is not Eddie's best work. The DVD would be better...there's too much "visual" comedy on this CD; you can only guess at his sound effects.

  1. Hilarious. Eddie Izzard is a very clever, intelligent comedian. Not a lot of cursing.

  2. Eddie Izzard is the best comedian of this age, no doubt.
Is he smart? Yeah! Does he make you laugh for hours? Yeah!

The point is his intellectual capacity and quality makes his show even more interesting. Comedians are observes I belive, they observe things. Think of one and only Jerry Seinfeld. He is funny, he has lots of things to say about anything. So does Eddie. But Eddie loves to talk about politics, history, war, humanity etc. He sure observes moreover he reads, he writes, he questions, he searhes. Well, it's not a piece of cake make jokes about latin empire! This is what I like most about him. He is cultivated. You may get a quick survey to history and politcs; little details about daily life in Eddie style of comments and gestures.

The show "Circle" has cultivated smart funny stories.
You can come across with James Mason, Sean Connery, Jesus, The English and of course Hitler.
He sure gives more than you want....with a fantastic make up! :)

  3. Eddie Izzard has to be just about the best comic around. My upper division English teacher in college showed us some of "Dress to Kill," and the class was cracking up. I watch everything of his I can get my hands on.

  4. We are huge Eddie Izzard fans, have all his cd's and dvd's of concerts, have seen him live twice, love The Riches, but..... This dvd concert is not up to his usual genius. It is funny in parts but he seems disinterested, distracted and almost annoyed with the show. So was I.

  5. I love this dvd. I was first introduced to Eddie Izzard's work when I saw his dvd of Dress to Kill and then I couldn't get enough of him. I took this dvd with me to my aunt's house for an extended visit last year and let her borrow it after I left. It took her awhile to tell me that it had been lost, so I've had to buy a second copy. Oh Well! It is my favorite of all his performances (and now I have them all.) If it turns up, they'll have a great dvd to keep. My 13 year old cousin can all but quote the whole show from memory. I can recommend this dvd to anyone who loves Eddie Izzard or to new viewers who just want to laugh really hard for about 2 hours straight.

  1. Dress to Kill
I've been looking for this DVD forever. I saw this show when it was released on HBO. It won't disapoint! All I can really say is your going to need a flag, a little splashy, splashy. Highly recommend!

  2. His bits, while not always gut-wrenchingly funny, are always entertaining. Izzard really knows how to stimulate the audience's imagination, and it seems like at least half of his material is being created while on stage. This, of course, is most likely not the case. However, it speaks to his genius. Pay special attention to his Star Wars and Church of England routines. Good Stuff. "Do you have a flag?"

  3. Every time I watch this video, I find something new I missed, Eddie is so funny, I never get tired of watching him, I highly recommend this video to anyone who likes good clean comedy. IMJ San Mateo

  4. This comedy video is hilarious! It can be watch over and over again by yourself or with friends. My friends and I do comedy bits from this show all the time. I strongly recommend.

  5. Entertaining, intellectual, and funny. A must see, especially if you are a lover of comedy, and history.
