  1. I first heard this when being trained to be a tour bus driver in alaska. we were told we could use something like this for the longer drives when there wasnt a glacier or grizzly bear or moose to point out, or when we ourselves ran out of our corny jokes. and boy did i crack up listening to this. easily i would replace my corny jokes with this romp. and what's great is that there is a piece in here about bus drivers! hehe!

my favorites have to be the ones about the bus driver, the discovery of baseball, and the discovery of tobacco.

this is just simply pure clean fun and worthy of everbody's ears!

  2. I first heard about this CD when Bob Newhart was on the Tonight Show promoting it, and I ran to my local record store to get it. What makes this album a little different than his early classic ones, is the editing, because they left in all the timing pauses that are crucial to his unique delivery. He himself even said that his old albums were edited to speed up the routines, making him sound like he was talking much faster than he was actually able to. Just an interesting bit of trivia I thought I'd share with all of you! Buy this CD! You won't regret it, it is something that all ages can enjoy and there's nothing dirty on it that would offend anyone! (I believe this is also available on video, but it might have to be special ordered.) But like many other reviewers have mentioned, it is great for in the car, as is all his materials on CD! And Mr. Newhart, if you happen to read this, thanks for buttoning down your mind with us!

  3. This is a reprise of his 1961 Grammy winning album. It's all made up of make-believe phone calls and Newhart's timing is incredible. Amazing fact I got from the liner notes...Each of his seven albums sold over a million copies and his longevity for holding the #1 and #2 chart positions simultaneously was not broken until 1995 by Guns and Roses!

  4. It is often very difficult to find humor which is not topically modern or uncreatively vulgar. This gem is unquestionably neither. While somewhat dry at times, Bob Newhart clearly has a wit which shows forth magnificently in this routine which is over 40 years old. It does not seem dated at all and gives me laughs every time that I listen to it. If you are looking for comedy which is truly creative and well-presented, this is a great buy!

  5. Bob Newhart recorded some of the best selling comedy albums of all time in the early 1960s. This CD is a recording of a performance from 1995, where he performs some of his classic routines. Bob is as funny as ever, and so are these routines. I actually saw Bob's act in person, which was great, but if you can't see him person, this CD will give you an idea of what you missed.

5 comments about Legally Blonde 2 - Motion Picture Soundtrack.
  1. It's missing songs. Especially Avril Lavigne's "Nobody's Fool" which is played when Elle first walkes into the White House. I think there's more songs missing, but it's still a good soundtrack filled with pretty pink songs.

  2. Against all odds, Legally Blonde made its way to a sequel, which was good enough and didn't let us down. Now the first soundtrack was suprisingly good, I liked almost every track of it. I couldn't wait to have the second soundtrack, and ohh big disappointment. I liked 2 tracks of it. My advice, don't get it. Leann Rimes' "We Can" is a very uplifting song and Hope 7's "Breakthrough" is rellly nice too... but the soundtrack ends there. Unfortunately the whole CD is just not worth it just for those 2 songs that are great.

  3. I first thought Legally Blonde 2 was a dumb movie, but while I was watching it, it was so touching. She did almost anything to save Bruiser's mom and other animals that are being testing objects. It shows great scenes of Washington. Almost wanted to cry someone that cared about animals way more than me, too bad this was a movie and it wasn't true.

  4. Depending on your taste of music, "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde" OST can be either your greatest friend or your worst enemy. In the case of me, while many of these songs weren't exactly my "cup of tea," some were fairly enjoyable but to be frank the only reason I bought this OST was to practice a cheerleading routine with the song "More Bounce (in California)". Like I said before, Legally Blonde OST isn't necessarily for everybody...it just depends on your taste. And if you should happen to like every song on here, that's special. And if you don't, that's special too.

  5. Exept for some tracks (leanne rimes, hope 7,superchick,eurythmics and soul kid number 1) the rest of the CD isn't worth keeping or listening all over again, plus the most stupid remix of all the remixes (we can - american mix) exactly the same as the original one.I was expected much better coming from a LB soundtrack I was really disppointed by it.A mix of new and oldies which was made only cause it had to be made and that's what sucks the most.

  1. The first two Bob Newhart albums I listened to for days, and couldn't stop laughing. This one however shows Bob was losing his touch a bit when it came to audio recordings. The final sketch has Bob Newhart admitting that his voice was ragged. On the basis of the entire album, that is definitely true. Only get this one after you listen to the first two, which are ultimate masterpieces!

  2. While this one didn't win Bob any awards, it is another of his classic recordings. Not too many people, including myself, remember Krushchev landing in the US. That makes Bob's take on the rehearsal landing even funnier. Have you ever watched a live children's show and wonder what actually goes on behind the scenes. Listen to this CD and you will think of Bob's The Uncle Freddie Show. Like National Geographic specials on TV or Discovery? Then you will want to hear the Seven Lost Cities of the Incas. While I like the first two CD/Albums of Bob's, don't wait to buy this one. You won't be disappointed. Don't listen to all three in a row, or you might hurt yourself due to laughing.....

  3. Bob Newhart's first album was million selling smash. Each one of his subsequent albums sold less copies than the one that preceded it. This was Bob's third album. It is very funny, but most of the material is pretty dated. Who remembers Herb Philbrick nowadays? And the bits about Nikita Khrushchev and German rocket scientists are dated, too (but still funny). My favorite routine here is "The Uncle Freddie Show", which is a hilarious bit about a local TV kiddie show. It's worth the price of the CD just to get that routine, but the other routines are funny, too.

  4. The DVD is wonderful to watch...brings back so many memories of when Bob was doing the TV shows!

  5. No filthy language, just good, old fashioned humor. No one can do it like Bob Newhart. This is one you can share with youngsters.

  1. Just loved this CD! Bob Newhart's comedy is never out-dated and proves a long standing theory of mine, that real comedy doesn't require obscenity to be funny! This CD has original material that could only come from the brilliant mind of Bob Newhart! It's hilarious!

  2. What more can you get with some of all these tracks on this compilation import which they can be found on Rhino records own two-double CD set collection of "Something Like This..." a better choice. Don't get me wrong this is good and okay for listening to it here sometimes but everyone has an opinion on something what they like or don't dislike!

  3. These routines never get dated (even though Newhart bombed with the "King Kong" routine as his SNL monologue; it wasn't the right venue, and many had already heard it). These are some of his classics. However, why would you pay almost $20 for an import when he has an anthology of ALL his routines going for under $15? Go for "Something Like This..." instead!

  4. I bought this because my husband and I both enjoy the humor of Bob Newhart. When I introduced my children to it, they loved it, too. They enjoyed the cd so much that I have had to retrieve it from their rooms on more than one occasion. "Introducing Tobacco to Civilization" and "Driving Instructor" are our family's personal favorites, but the whole cd is a lot of fun.

  1. I have watched almost all the shows that are on these 4 cd's. Many were made before I started watching TV. Most I've seen once or twice before.

  2. The sound quality for this collection isn't much better than the samples offered by Amazon.

  3. As a musician myself, I know too well that one of the most important ingredients in ANY performance (live or recorded) is passion. The recordings here generally lack the same passion and sheer drama of the originals. Much of the instrumentation has been reduced to a cheezy, thin, plastic synthesized replica. The performances are simply a watered-down lackluster version of the classic originals. If it were not for the sheer volume of tracks compiled here, I would have rated the comp only "one star".

  4. The Mission Impossible theme is performed well.
The Fireball theme is actually much improved on this version. I prefer the orchestra and the vocals over the original.

  5. Face it, the appeal of TV theme songs is their familiarity. You know every sound in your favorites. You won't find any of that here. Some of these aren't even close to the originals. A lot are performed on cheap, lifeless digital synths. All of them sound like tired run-throughs of the music. There is no apparent interest on the part of the performers, so why should any listener be interested?

  1. My package arrived very quickly before the day it was suppose to arrive. I recommend it for everyone. I will order from this seller in future orders.

  2. This movie is touching, charming and entertaining. It pulls at the heartstrings, too.

Scrappy orphan Penny is captured by the flamboyantly wicked Madame Medusa, voiced wonderfully by Geraldine Page. She is the evil redhead who will stop at nothing to get her hands on something valuable, even at the expense of putting poor Penny in grave danger.

This is a bit unusual for a Disney film, and that may be why I like it. I am not familiar with the literature upon which it's based, but I thoroughly enjoy the setting, story, and characters. Bianca and Bernard are a great duo, voiced to perfection by Eva Gabor and Bob Newhart. Madame Medusa could be Cruella DeVil's cousin, she's so bad and greedy and loud.
And I just love the old riverboat. What a unique setting.

But I think the true key to The Rescuers' charms lie in the fact that it's all about a little girl who is all alone in the world, and then in real jeopardy. Anyone can relate to loneliness and being wanted. You can't help but want Penny to overcome her obstacles, to escape her captors, maybe even find happiness.

This isn't a big Disney success like Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, or Beauty and the Beast, but it most definitely deserves at least a look. It's got that rough, sketchy Xeroxed animation style of Disney's 1960's and 1970's cartoon films (the same technique was used to animate 101 Dalmations, The Jungle Book, and The Aristocats, among others).

  3. This is a Disney classic. Just like watching it for the very 1st time.

  4. I definitely didn't remember this movie being as dark and depressing but still a great cartoon for the collection.

  5. This DVD is very heartwarming and great for the whole family to watch together, or even by yourself. I love the scenery, characters, shoot I just love the whole thing. I highly reccommend this DVD for anyone that loves Disney and Animation.

  1. This is a wonderful glimpse into Newhart's early work, which is droll, sly, and extremely funny. Still hilarious after all this time.

  2. The CD arrived in excellent condition and the shipping time was prompt.

  3. Wore out 2 albums and no longer have a turntable so love having this CD with Bob's long-standing hilarious routines.

  4. My Uncle Henry bought this album (33 & 1/3 record) for us when I was a child. My children loved it as I did. And now we have found it and both purchased it again. Such funny, clean, humor! Such great comedy!

  5. Bob is Bob and we love him. I ordered his 1st season tv show after I remembered how much I enjoyed him.

  1. THIS IS JUST AS FUNNY AS WHEN IT FIRST BECAME A HIT MANY YEARS AGO. HIS TALENT JUST OOZES THROUGH THE SPEAKRS.

  2. It was just as I remembered from my father's record collection that is long gone, only better. Its hard to believe these skits were written over 40 years ago and that the advertising industry probably hasn't changed.

  3. I still enjoy Bob Newhart..whether on reruns of his two outstanding tv series or in any comedy special where he is featured.
The Driving School and Abe Lincoln..I remember him doing those classic sketches on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. Its simple..Bob Newhart is the best comedian/satirist since Mark Twain.

  4. I think my title says it all! Loved Bob back when he began and still love him and his routines today.

  5. And this is his masterpiece. Still as funny as when I first heard it as a little kid in the early 70s. The Abe Lincoln bit alone is Smithsonian-quality stuff, and says more about this country, good and bad, than most history books ever will.
Newhart is also so politically correct and dry that anyone will like this, from way left to way right. Bob is the kind of guy who can make fun of you to your face and make you crack up, and then love him for it.
    That's genius.
If you like his tv shows, you'll love this.
Definitely one of the top ten stand-up albums ever.

  1. Classic comedy. Hits all ages and makes us all laugh.

    Great CD. Highly recommended.

  2. The laugh track is distractingly and annoying loud (shrill) and Newhart's humorous monologue is far softer than the laugh track. Would not recommend this to anyone.

  3. As a kid (in the 70s) my father played his Bob Newhart record every once in a while. He only had one, but I loved the way he laughed at it, and I laughed too. I was old enough to understand some of the humour in routines like the driving instructor, and the telephone conversation with Sir Walter Raleigh.

When I was wondering what to buy Dad for Christmas this time around I thought of that record, and looked up 'Bob Newhart' on Amazon. I quickly found this double CD compilation, recognised many of the tracks, and bought pretty much within the blink of an eye. Dad and I listened to it in the car driving to the cricket (you know, the game Americans would play if they weren't brainwashed by baseball). He and I laughed enough to make city traffic very trivial. The old favourites still get us in exactly the way they did years ago; the tracks we hadn't heard before get us with the same style of humour.

If you've ever heard a Bob Newhart routine and enjoyed it this compilation will deliver plenty of the same, with many little twists and quirks along the way. If you've never heard a Bob Newhart routine but would like a taste, this is a great introduction and summary.

  4. Amazon didn't bother to let me know that the item didn't deliver until I made a inquiry.

What a coincidence they "just" realized the item was returned....yeah it was returned 3 weeks earlier.

Normally I like Amazon, but they dropped the ball on this one

  5. I purchased this product for my brother's birthday. We all enjoyed hearing Bob again and the now classic stories he told in his own special way.Good, clean fun!
