4 comments about KISSTORY II - Toys Games & Girls Collector's Bible.
- I finally received my copy of Kisstory II last week. I thought it would be a little more informative.Although I liked it, this book is far less enjoyable. The band could have at least signed it.The wait was over a year! They could have added the last few years(95-present) of the band. I just think that they didn't put enough thought into this book. It should have cost less for it's content. This coming from a fan of seventeen years. Buy only if your a die-hard!
- I think Kisstory 2 is fantastic! Just about anything and everything that is a Kiss collectable item is featured from 1973 to the present. A great followup to Kisstory 1. I admit the price is kind of steep but if your are a true Kiss fan the book is worth it.
- Folks, 99% of this book is pictures of Kiss merchandise. Unless you want to pay good money to look at hundreds of pages filled with pictures of toys and magazine covers, save your dough. KISSTORY I is excellent, KISSTORY II is an absolute rip-off. Gene always seems to come up with new ways to suck the money out of your pocket, and this one is a classic. I've been a KISS fan since 1976 and will remain one until I die (no, I'll not be buried in a KISS Kasket) so trust me. This book is for two kinds of people - those who have tons of money to burn and nothing to burn it on, and those who feel they must have EVERYTHING that has the KISS logo stamped on it.
- I LOVED THE BOOK. I DON"T KNOW HOW YOU COULDN"T IF YOU WERE A TRUE KISS FAN. KISS ARMY>>>>>

1 comments about Digital Audio Technology: A Guide to CD, MiniDisc, SACD, DVD(A), MP3 and DAT, Fourth Edition.
- I bought this thinking I could beef-up my knowledge on DVD-Audio and SACD. This is not what your looking for for in-depth info, its more of a technical engineers manual if anything with hardly any info on DVD-A or SACD with very, very small articles on these topics. I has more charts and technical data on very scientific data that only an engineer can decipher. Its put out by the people at Sony and Philips and gives you the same info that you can get in a tech magazine. Save your money, its not worth it.

5 comments about The Beatles: A Private View.
- This book makes you feel like you really met the Beatles! The NEW book has a revised text that is great and many new pictures I never saw before! This book is a winner and a must for every Beatles fan.
- For anyone who thinks this is just a re-issue of the the previous book, think again. There are something like 30 "new" pictures. I just loved the new look on some of the older one's like Lennon with the Panda that's now in color and the pic of The Beatles with Mick Jagger really brings you back. This book was such a delight, I purchased the collector's edition that includes a limited edition print for my husband. At the price listed here on Amazon, you will not be disappointed by this book.
- This book is a treat anybody would love. There are a plethora of delightful photographs that will make readers, from the inveterate fans to those just becoming familiar with the Fab 4 feel as if they are "meeting" the Beatles.
This author has a real flair for natural expression and the writing style is crisp and fresh. This is a book with something to offer everyone and I cannot recommend it highly enough. As the only Beatles' fan in my family, I've "introduced" many relatives to the wonderful phenomenon that was the Beatles! This one gets a stellar endorsement and an enthusiastic "YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!" from me! I love it!
- Freeman really doesn;t have a lot to say about either the Beatles or the photos he took of them...no professional insights on photography and no intriguing thoughts on the Beatles in the context of the British pop culture scene in the 1960's. Photos are nothing new beyond the album covers, nothing we haven't scene in Hoffman's, Gunther's, Benson's and even Beatle Biographies from Davies, Schaffner and Norman, etc.
Don't waste your money - by Hoffman's or Lewisohn's chronicles book if you want nice photos, and more insightful text.
- I purchased this as a gift for a friend, and I was excited to see how beautiful it was. I am a Beatles fan as well and I was very tempted to keep it for myself. :)
It's a heavy, well made picture book. You can't help but smile when looking at some of the photos. You just wish you could have been there at that moment they were taken.
If you love the Beatles then I am very sure you'll love this book. Don't pass it up!

1 comments about Goldmine's Promo Record & Cd Price Guide.
- This book is not one of Goldmine's best issues but for the most part it gets the job done. The listings are many but detailed they are not. The part that bothered me the most was the general price guidelines...for example if you look under an artist and you do not see the album listed it might say in small print the record label and a general price value. It would be more helpful to list more album titles for the artists instead of giving a general price. It was also disappointing that only NM values are given. How many records from the 1950's do you have that are NM?
On a good note I have not seen any other promo guides so I guess it gets the job done more or less.

3 comments about Evolution of the Audio Recorder.
- If you have an interest in audio tape recorders, whether historically or an owner (I grew up with them), this book is excellent. There is none other like it. Coverage is complete with lots of great photos of tape recorders (like Elvis's Ampex 350 studio deck). If you are a hobbyist or technician, there are schematics and much repair/rebuild information. I was also a broadcast engineer and have recently rebuilt several Ampex reel-to-reel recorders. I searched everywhere for reference information and there wasn't much, other than old service manuals. This book covers all the Ampex models plus just about everything else, and is just plain fun to read. Many of the long lost home recorders I knew as a child are included. You won't be disappointed by purchasing a copy of this book.
- I highly recommend this book to anyone who has even remote interest in electronic equipment. This book is profusely illustrated and written in an entertaining yet informative style that will keep you reading for hours! This book will have special appeal to those who collect or have an affinity for vintage electronics equipment equipment.
- Van Praag does a wonderful job of bringing a great deal of information about old tape machines together in one fun to read book. Open reel recorder information dominates here, but the theory section covers compact cassette and 8 track as well. For readers interested in technical data, a section deals with circuit drawings. The photography of the equipment is very high quality, it does justice to these old machines. Van Praag's style is matter-of-fact and rather relaxed. He is certainly a realist, you can tell he has spent many an hour working on audio recorders. His how-to-do section on repair/restoration is thorough, funny, and quite accurate. Whether you just fooled around with a cheap toy recorder as a child, or made your living keeping the big reels turning, you will enjoy this book.
