5 comments about Bobbing Head Dolls: 1960-2000.
- I just start collecting bobbing head dolls without any knowledge.I wasn't sure where I can learn about.this book helps me a lot.Gives me lots of info etc....I wish this book had a lot more color-photo of dolls.
- As a long time BB card collector, my parents stumbled onto a bobbing head, an item I didn't have. Needless to say I have gotten hooked, with my collection now over twenty dolls. I read the large print on the cover, and thought it would be just what I needed, but the book is really about dolls from 1960-1972. The author simply blows off the newer versions as being too manufactured and barely covers them. A better detail history of the newer dolls and more aggressive price guide would have made this book a 5star.
- Anybody who collects vintage 1960's Bobbing Heads needs to have this book. Tim Hunter is the foremost authority on Japan made "nodders" from the 60's and has spent decades researching them. This book has become the "bible" for Bobbing Head collectors, combining a history lesson, detailed price guide, and helpful hints for collectors. Whether you are a veteran collector or a beginner, this book is a must!
- This book is THE guide to get to help you start your bobblehead collection! It has all the old nodders listed, how tough they are to find, variations, and prices. (...)
- Excellent book, well written on a collectible that has received no coverege for too long.Everything you need to know about old bobbing head dolls.

- I will try to keep it to a few words here but it will be hard. If you love dolls then you MUST get this book and if you like whimsical, creative, one of a kind projects you must get this book. A definite asset to your crochet library. Includes step by step very complete instructions for each doll, Hurry once the word gets out I am positive the supply will run out.
- I was very excited when I found out that Noreen Crone-Findlay was going to do an entire book on crocheted dolls. However after buying the book , andgetting a chance to go through it...I must say that I am very disappointed. It's perhaps the most disappointing book I've ever purchased. The dolls in it are very amateur in their presentation. Few of her examples/projects rise to a standard equal to that of someone just learning the craft. Most of the projects seem like an explosion of yarn. Your craft book dollars would be best spent elsewhere.
- I love this book. It's absolutely beautiful and magically inspiring. I want to start at the beginning and make every doll in it. Noreen gives plenty of info for beginners and those who like to work from a pattern yet leaves plenty of room for those who want to take her work off in their own direction. If you love dolls and crochet, do not fail to own this book.
- What an awesome book. It didn't take much reading before I had to go out and get a hook and some yarn in order to try to co-create with Noreen Crone-Findlay. Although I hadn't held a crochet hook in over 25 years, her clear instructions and dazzling designs kept me motivated. Lest you be overly impressed, I did begin with Chubby Lady Bug on page 109, an adorable little being, and perfect for a beginner, or someone returning to crochet.
I can guarantee that if you like dolls in any of their creative manifestations, or like crochet, you will be held and nurtured by this wonderful book.

1 comments about Dolls & Toys of Native America.
- I loved this book, and use it as a resource for my own dollmaking. There are elegant, clean photos of toys and dolls from different traditions and geographical areas of North America, and there are stories to go along with each chapter. The stories moved me as strongly as the images. I recommend it as an avenue for understanding the cultures that preceeded ours on this continent, and to dispell some of the myths we all carry about Native Americans.

4 comments about Action Figures of the 1980s (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- Action Figures of the 1980s is very well written with alot of detailed information cocerning the toys from the 80s that we all remember and cherish! there are ALOT of colour photos 400+ and they are all very clean and proffesioanl! the idea of a price guide feels somewhat redundant seeing as prices change from day to day and from location to location you may end up paying alot more then what an item is truely worth whith the seller in question thinking that the price he is asking for it is reasonable and refering to an out of date price due to a rerelease or whatever!
All in all it is a good book though it is a shame that there aren't more books in this genre out on the market!
- John Marshall is THE toy guru, and his expertise shines through in this informative and entertaining guide. This is bound to take anyone who grew up in the 80s back down memory lane.
- This book is certainly good for reference. However, the author obviously thinks very highly of himself and his humour, which is often childish. He is also convinced that he *knows* what is good and what sucks, and if you disagree, it's because you don't know as much as he does. This may be partly because he grew up in the 70's rather than the 80's, and as such views these toys as a collector rather than as a fan. He also occasionally shows ignorance of the subject matter. For instance, he refers to Sectaurs as Warlords of Symbion, rather then Warriors. He is also unaware of the fact there was a Defenders of the Earth cartoon in the 80's, evidenced by his puzzlement at the very existence of such an action figure line. The frequent typographical errors are also irritating.
- I bought this book for a friend of mine and it's a great book for anyone into either toys, or the 80's. (My friend happened to be into both). It lists prices in the eighties, and then a price for today's market (which would be 10 years before today as the book is written in the 90's) Great book, great pictures. And I payed a great price. Can't beat any of that.

5 comments about The Robert Tonner Story: Dreams & Dolls.
- This book has many, many photos of his early works to the most recent for the year 2000. His life story gives you an insite for this wonderful doll designer. I highly recommend this for any doll collector!
- The author has included everything you could possibly want to know about Tonner and his work. Meticulously researched! The photos are fabulous, as well.
- As both a doll artist and a collector, I knew I had to have this book detailing the career of one of America's premiere doll artists in recent history. Robert Tonner has brought American doll artistry to new heights. There are so many wonderful illustrations of all of Tonner's dolls from the beginning of his career through 2000. Reading Tonner's story truly makes an artist believe that anything is possible - especially success - with a vision, talent and a lot of hard work! I am truly inspired having read this book and there are few people I would like to meet as much as I would love to meet Mr. Tonner.
- This is a beautifully written and researched book which I found both helpful and interesting. As a doll critic, I often find books about doll artists to be very self indulgent, but this book represented an honest and straight forward look at one of America's most incredible and talented doll manufacturers.
- Great starting point for all levels of collectors.

4 comments about Princess Diana and Prince Charles Fashion Paper Dolls in Full Color.
- This is one of the most beautiful sets of paper dolls I have, well drawn with great attention to detail and short historical notes on each dress inside the back cover. There are a lot of costumes in this book, about thirty, and two beautiful dolls. It covers fashion from 1890 to 1919, with dresses from great designers like Worth and Paquin. Tom Tierney's paper dolls are wonderful, and this is one of his best.
- This is a wonderful paper doll book. Book gives a bit of history regarding the dresses in the book. Illustrations are excellent.
- Anyone who loves fashion history will enjoy this book. The illustrations are evocative of the lives of fashionable women 100 years ago.
I especially liked the dolls themselves, clad in faithful depictions of the underwear of the era.
The selection of costumes is superb. It is clear to see the development of women's dress from 1899 until 1919, from heavily corseted hourglass figures laden with ruffles, lace and embroidery, to the fantasies of the early teens and finally the simplification of dress leading up to the 1920-s.
- I have both paper doll books (Princess Diana and Prince Charles Fashion Paper Dolls in Full Color; and Diana, Princess of Wales, Paper Doll: The Charity Auction Dresses [Paper Doll Series]) by Tom Tierney. I love his artistry and his attention to detail. I got the Charity Auction paper doll book as a gift and searched for more finding the first paper doll book that also included Prince Charles. I added both books to my scrapbook on Diana - I still love looking at these pages. They are both excellent as are all the paper doll books he produces. I also have books by Tom Tierney on Pope John Paul II, Jackie Kennedy Onasis, and one with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip. I would encourage anyone interested in collecting, using the books for school reports, or finding your favorite subject in paper dolls, to look for this artist. He does excellent work.
