5 comments about Arthur's New Puppy: An Arthur Adventure (Arthur Adventure Series).
- While children love reading fantastic stories of dragons oraliens or dinosaurs, that doesn't mean they don't also enjoy readingbooks featuring kids just like them.
Or, in the case of the popular Arthur books, aardvarks just like them. Arthur's New Puppy is the eighteenth book in the best-selling series. It follows the misadventures of the lovable aardvark as he attempts to housebreak his bouncy puppy Pal. Children seem to identify with Arthur as he struggles with everyday problems with the help of his loving parents (and no help from his pesky little sister, D.W.) and friends. If you have an Arthur fan in the house, or if you have a new puppy in the house, you'll want to check out this book.
- [...]. It is a good book for kids because it helps kids read. It is funny. Arthur gets a new puppy because his mother said he could. Arthur had to give five dollars for the puppy. Arthur was happy to have a puppy. He had been watching a puppy that gave birth to a litter of new puppies and Author got to keep one. I think everyone would enjoy this story, especially if you like puppies!
The end
- I liked this book because I really like dogs. And when I get my owen house I am going to get a dog. I loved reading this book. You should buy this book becuse you can lern how to take car of a puppy.
- I liked this book because it has lots of laughs. The story is about a new puppy who really needs trained, but in the end he's well trained. If you like stories like these then read Arthur's New Puppy. It's a tail wagging story.
- Can Arthur keep his new pup from being sent away?
In a story that many young readers will identify with, Arthur has a new puppy who misbehaves, as puppies often do! Arthur sets about training him, and brings about a wonderful transformation that amazes everyone, with a fun twist at the conclusion.
If your children are fans of the wonderful TV series, this book is sure to appeal to them.

5 comments about Wayne Goddard's $50 Knife Shop.
- I got this book last night and have read it cover to cover. Wayne gives great confidence to the beginner. Just the simple fact that you don't have to go broke to make knives is very fullfilling. Some great shop tips and good ways of looking at shop problems.
Buy this book and David Boye's book, and you are well on your way.
- I was hesitant on ordering this book, I've read or bought almost everything I can find relating to bladesmithing or blacksmithing. I got the book, and read it from front to back, then read it again. This book not only offers insight on how to make needed equipment, but also explains how to make knives of both stock removal, forging and wire damascus. I've never read a book on this subject where it felt like the author was talking directly to me, explaining things that I was thinking. This book is definitely one for the beginner smith.
- My best basic book, will answer all your questions, and will get you started and on your way,if you are not new to knife building it will reinforce you knowledge even more..
- Even though he has not been able to buy an anvil yet, hubby has re-crafted several knives using the methods described in this book. It is only a few months old, but is already very worn and tattered. When ever he gets quite (no metal grinding or scraping noises), I know he has sat back down with his book for more inspiration or a bit of clarification.
- I bought this because I'm thinking I may want to make a few knives in the future, and I wanted to see what could be done in a low-commitment way.
The $50.00 limit is a bit arbitrary, and perhaps outdated. It really depends on scrounging a motor and making your own grinder/sander. That sounds like more trouble than it is worth, to me.
Other than that, I found the minimal equipment list a useful reference for any future excursions into this craft.
The book has a lot of information about Damascus-style blades made from steel cable; although an interesting concept, I don't care for the look of the blades, so I found that information of less value than the rest of the book.
The procedures for hardening and tempering, on the other hand, made me feel that this part of the process was actually accessible. Before reading this book, heat treating in general was an intimidating mystery. Now, it is just something that requires care and practice.

- The book is very well put together and a very useful guide. I am confused by the presence of another Miller's Price Guide that is a competitor (I think). I never know which one that I am getting.

5 comments about Move to Strike.
- If a rip-roaring, fast-paced mystery can be called thoughtful, then "Move to Strike" is just that. On the one hand, we have the story of Nina Reilly's newest case, which is so riveting that it helps pull Nina from a terrible depression (I cannot reveal more without ruining "Acts of Malice," the book previous to this one).
On the other hand, for the first time in the series, the reader gets to see what makes Paul von Wagoner tick. Paul, as Nina Reilly regulars well know, is her on-again, off-again friend/lover/confidante and just about everything else. An ace private investigator, he helps Nina solve most of her seemingly unsolvable cases. And, whether he cares to admit it or not, he is deeply in love with Nina. At the end of "Acts of Malice," Paul took a step that changed his life irrevocably. In "Move to Strike," he is dealing with the aftermath of that act...and the knowledge that Nina will never love him back. His very real and complicated anguish is laid bare for the reader as we follow his thoughts, join in his nightmares, and sympathize for this very strong man who is at his weakest moment. Meanwhile, Nina is struggling to defend a 16-year-old girl, Nikki, who stands accused of brutally murdering her wealthy uncle Bill Sykes, a prominent plastic surgeon in the Tahoe area. WE know that Nikki didn't do it, because WE were there when it happened. But nobody else does...including Nina herself, who is working half on conviction, half on pure hunch. The slimy district attorney, an old foe, is hell-bent on trying Nikki as an adult. And his vicious assistant Barbara, who has old issues with Nina, is helping him gain his way. If Nikki didn't kill Uncle Bill, who did? Nina's desperate foray into the case involves Nikki's ultra-ditzy former-showgirl mother, Daria, Daria's sister Beth, who is Bill's widow, an older widow fond of concocting potent "herbal" elixirs, and a band of prospectors right out of the Wild West. Add in a questionable private plane crash and a couple of seemingly unrelated murders, and you have a story that just won't let you breathe until you finish. I guessed the murderer toward the end--but once again the O'Shaugnessy sisters pulled one of their effortless plot twists. I may have been right about the murderer--but nothing could have prepared me for the truth of the crime. Get this book and devour it! It's another incredibly good winner.
- Perri Oshaughnessy does it again! A taut first rate thriller. A tour de force! The Characters are first rate. Don't miss this one. Well plotted. Undownputable. The best heroine to come along in fiction.
- Its addictive, we can't seem to get enough of the Nina Series. Finaly, Paul was given a more important role, and the author explored those very intriguing and mysterious layers of the most appealing charachter of this series. It was seductive to learn what are Paul's weak spots, he is sooo fascinating. As an additional treat, Sandy, the very verbal but always loyal secretary, allowed us to take a peek at her very private life.
O'Shaughenessey is a master at what they do because while bring the reader to their web of legal tactics, murder investigations and interesting storylines turn arounds, they build up the relationships among its players. Cheers for digging deeper in the personalities of the fabulous charachters in this series.
- These sister/authors have produced another great book. This book has just the right mix of intrigue, law, humor, romance/sexual tension, and human emotion. I think the authors have done another good job with character development--each character was very believable. Nina is inherently a good person but the authors have given her "grace" by providing human flaws. I have enjoyed a few books by these sisters and haven not been disappointed yet. I read this book on a recent cruise and actually spent time in the stateroom and on deck reading this entertaining book rather than spend time in the casino, playing bingo, or doing some of the other available activities. I recommend this book to anyone who values believeable plots and characters.
- This was my first experience with this author. The book had a fascinating story line and an ending that tied up all the loose ends. I sure didn't have that letdown feeling when the last page was turned. I have two more of her books. Can't wait to read them.

5 comments about The New French Décor: Living with Timeless Objects.
- "The New French Decor: Living With Timeless Objects" is the collaborative work of journalist and interior decorator Michele Lalande and the photographer Gilles Trillard. 250 full-color photographs beautifully illustrated and showcase Michele Lalande's commentary about the sophistication, symmetry, minimalism, and other elements that make each of the featured rooms successful with respect to their thematic design conceived and executed by top stylists, decorators, and antiquarians. An intrinsically beautiful book, "The New French Decor" is an impressive contribution to the growing library of Interior Design literature and a welcome addition to personal, professional, academic, and community library reference collections and supplemental reading lists.
- I just purchased this book as a gift for myself for Christmas. I would say that it is not for everyone who loves to decorate with French style. For some it may be "too cluttery" as it is how to do the current new design style of "assembling many disparate objects" to create a display where you have to study the whole and then its many parts to understand the composition. The book is basically photographs with short descriptions of the photo. There really is no text to the book discussing decorating techniques, etc. I would have liked to see more text to explain the details of the photos. There is no French elegance "candy" here - no gilded rooms with Louis chairs - but mostly items that you would find in flea markets in France or even things taken from trash bins. What the book does do is make you think about the vignettes you create in your own home with a different "eye". It also makes you want to take the first plane to France to scour the flea markets for unique items. I loved LaLandes book published last year better than this one on 18th Century style but they are really an extension of each other in describing this style of decor. I would say that this book helped educate my eye and provided many hours of enjoyment studying each photo. I paid full price because I was anxious to see it, but I would say that getting it at a discount would make it a great addition to your library if you truly love all things French. I find myself pulling it off the shelf to review time and time again. I'm glad I purchased the book.
- Fabulous addition to their first book. Good photographs, writing and, above
all, great objects and antiques.
- Wonderful reference book for French Decor, fabulous pictures and french inspiration for those of us who can't get enough of the French influence.
- I appreciated another look at the eclectic school in how to combine the old with the new. Good book.

5 comments about The Great Physician's Rx for Women's Health.
- I really like the chatty approach the authors used to write the book. Where Jordan can be rather compulsive about keeping food and body pure, Nicki has a more relateable approach for today's busy women. I have found this book to be very insightful about my eating habits. Putting biblical boundaries around my eating choices actually gives me the freedom I've been needing to say no to all types of junk food. It has also helped me learn to trust God's guideance in other areas of life. God knows His creation and wants the best for us.
- While there are some good recommendations in this book, I found it curious why such material would be written by a man who has not for one moment experienced any of a woman's unique health issues himself. The author obviously realized the same and included two token women co-authors to cover for this market driven effort. I would also be cautious taking advice from someone who has been recently slapped with huge fines and a consent decree from the FTC for making unsubstantiated dietary supplement claims. This ultimately forced him to sell his Garden of Life nutritional company in order to remedy a disaster caused by his conflict of interest created by his books being merely advertising for his product line. If you want a remarkably good woman's health book, get "A Woman"s Body Balanced By Nature" by Janet Maccaro PhD, CNC. It is by a real woman who experienced many health issues and problems as a woman and set out to find her own answers, become and expert and then launch a mission to tell other women what actually works. Her writing is clear, and it simply makes sense.
- Very basic information. No explanation of why his methods are beneficial. Not enough theory to back up claims for me. Very healthy though!
- This book gave you insight on do's and don'ts that are not listed anywhere else in guidence for women. Keeping informed is half the battle with womens problems and this book did just that. Infact, I didn't even finish the last chapter when someone already barrowed it from me. Excellent source of how to pick out vitamins, and other supplements that women should have in there diets for optimal health. After practicing some of the cleansing and eating techniques, I feel terrific.
- This book is great! It has a lot of information, and it is very easy to read. An awesome book that I did not want to put down. Every woman should read this book.

- The art is compelling - witty and melancholy - don't be dissuaded by the kids-and-puppies subject matter. Packaged more carefully then the usual postcard book.
- This artist really understands the toddler mind. He must have spent lots of time observing toddlers and their angry moments. He captured our two year old's spirit without having met her.
- I bought these postcards with the intention of displaying them. I used inexpensive frames to hang some in my bedroom. They are so adorable! Nara is one of my favorite artists. I have a few tee shirts with his artwork on them as well. They are always a great conversation piece.
I only wish that they were larger!
- Ok, So I am overseas and I send cards home often, these postcards are super cute and I ordered two so that I can keep my favorite ones for a "special someone". The quality of the cards are great and my gel pens look great against the quality card stock. I hope to see new postcards in the near future. 5 STARS ! - Excellent resource with good photos in color! Antique Trader is always a good purchase decision.
- I bought this book for my husband and if you have a generic looking bottle and want to find out information this is not the book for you. If you have visible writing on it, this would be a great find. I'm not the bottle collector in the family and although this was listed as the "bottle bible" I expected more out of it. My husband is pleased with the book. In other words, he gets to do more collecting and I get to run out of cabinet space!
- I know bottles...I dig them and I sell them at all the bottle shows in NY,NJ,PA,CT area. I am a professional and am very knowlegable on bottle collecting and appraisals of all kinds. DON'T be fooled by the fancy pictures and the fact it is endorced by Antique Trader. They trusted that he knew what he was talking about when they printed 15,000 copies. They were wrong!
THERE ARE SO MANY MISTAKEs IN THIS BOOK ON IDENTIFICATION AND PRICING THAT ANYONE IN THE BOTTLE COLLECTING SELLING BUSINESS WILL NOT BUY THE BOOK. I spoke with the author at a recent bottle show where he was selling his book and he refused to acknowlege his own blatent and foolist mistakes through the ENTIRE BOOK which is down right embarassing if you ask me. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

5 comments about Business Essentials (5th Edition).
- This book is an absolute disgrace. It is poorly written and lacks any sort of depth. As of spring 2002, it is also comically dated. Don't waste your time or money on this garbage.
- For your basic introductory business class, this book is good. It offers a lot of vocabulary, and I can see why a lot of people would say the book has no depth since most of the information can be drawn from simply living the real world. (Unless of course you live in a refrigerator.) So why bother grabbing the text if I can get the same exact knowledge from life?
Well, in the beginning, end and throughout each chapter, tons of real life examples are woven in to illustrate each of the "business essentials." On top of that, real quotes from millionares, successful CEOs and entrepreneurs, and trusted business executives allows the average student a valuable glance into what makes up a smart business mindset.
What's my point? To study business, you need to study the principles that real professionals swear by. Texts written by "just" business professors who don't actually participate in the business world really just don't cut the chase. They're probably broke anyway. Now textbooks with information from successful people, that's what's going to make a student of business really churn out a beautiful future.
So while the material is very, very basic. The real life examples are awesome. However, these lessons can be taught by even better books by great people like Stephen R. Covey and Dale Carnegie. But if you do need a book chock full o' business vocabulary and basics, this isn't a terrible pick. And it certainly does spell everything out.
- This book does not have a lot of depth to it - and it is somewhat dated (each year a bit more), but there are some handy examples that make it a worthwhile read... especially for the price.
- i have one for sale,brand new for $35!email heather_ellis84@yahoo.com if interested.
- This book came faster and in way better condition than I thought it would. Was very pleased with the item.
