5 comments about Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms and Their Values.
- The ninth edition of the best and most complete guide of identification and evaluation of antique American firearms. Flayderman is the authoritative source for this sort of information. This edition is an improvement on the excellent earlier editions, with more information (and new sections, including an objective discussion of American "dueling pistols", and much tighter editing and proofreading.
- I have bought 5 prior editions of this book. It is the best antique firearms valuation tool out there and full of interesting information.
- As always, Flayderman presents the best in his guides. Well written and explanations are very accurate. A must for gun collectors and dealers.
- I have ll the previous books, I have been waiting for this to come out. A must have for anyone who collects antique gun's.
- Ever since the first edition, Norm's book has been the standard reference for antique American firearms. No other reference comes close to the breadth of content. Unless someone takes over, this is likely to be the last edition as Norm is getting up there in years.
The index is still difficult to use as it has been since the first edition. It can be frustrating to locate information on a specific, less common, firearm. The prices listed for most items tend to be several years out of date.

1 comments about 2009 Standard Catalog Of World Coins 2001-Date (Standard Catalog).
- With every passing year the edition of a separate 21st century coin catalog becomes more justified. Any coin collector can easily list a number of countries which do their best to fill the volume with products of their mints and national banks. China and France alone add at least two to four pages yearly, Russia and Poland are not far behind. It does make sense to produce this catalog and yet there are doubts.
The 2009 edition brings another selection of new commemoratives plus a handful of fairly interesting regular coins but somehow I am still unconvinced that there were credible reasons for splitting the 1900+ volume into two - the 20th and the 21st century (apart from making more money on collectors ;) If you could remove "patterns etc." sections - most of which interest less than a hundred people all around the world - the 20th and the 21st century catalogs could still easily be produced as a single volume.
In short - if you are seriously interested in commemorative world issues, this is your book. You simply must buy it as the only other choice is checking various internet sites. Yet if your interests are more moderate getting a new edition every two or three years should be enough.

5 comments about Antique Trader Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide 2007 (Antique Trader Antiques and Collectibles Price Guide).
- This book works well to get a general idea of the value of items, but it has some bare spots. They cover some items in great detail and others in very general terms.
I would have liked it better if there was more discussion about what causes the variation in prices of certain categories.
- As always a useful reference for the collector. My wife and I buy and sell glassware as well as other small collectibles and antiques and find this to be one of the more useful general guides for pricing and identifying a range of items.
- The weighty yet portable Antique Trader guide Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide 2007 may not fit in a jacket pocket but it will easily be a take-along to any garage sale or flea market for avid collectors. Public libraries strong in collectibles price guides and private collectors alike will find this annual reference follows the market, offering up the latest prices and some 5,000 new color photos and upgrades to this latest edition.
- The 2007 Edition of Antique Trader Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide is superb. Filled with gorgeous color photography and to the point descriptions, this modern guide has become a leader in the field. I highly recommend that you add this guide to your library without delay!
- This book is chuck full of antigues with prices and pictures, I highly recommend it!!!

5 comments about Why Do Men Fall Asleep After Sex?: More Questions You'd Only Ask a Doctor After Your Third Whiskey Sour.
- This book is not only informative about many myths and queries we have all heard, but it is funny too!!! I have learned some very funny and quirky facts so far. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes interesting, funny facts.
- Some of the questions are rediculous, for example: If I swallow a watermelon seed, will a watermelon grow in my stomach?
I hate to believe that enough people were seriously that concerned about something so rediculous that they had to print it in the book.
As for half of the other questions, you got roundabout answers that weren't really answered, but fluffed to take up room.
Not worth the buy. My suggestion is to go to your boostore, find it, flip through the questions and read the answers you are honestly curious about and save your money.
- I found this book to be sooo funny, I am glad I came accross it by accident. The humor is everywhere and although this type of humor is not for everybody, if you do not like the IM conversation you can skip through them and still get some of the witty humor. I loved the comment "if Dr. Phil can't do it, why couldn't the authors?" I reccommend it! If you are skeptical because the bad press got to you first, start with reading the questions that are interesting to you and you'll soon be hooked.
- Despite my bad experience with many sequels, I still had high expectation of this. I had not been disappointed. This is still "funny, interesting, entertaining, and "helpful"!" as the first, and in particular I like some authentic answers to some of my life long doubts as follows:-
Why do men fall asleep after sex?
How does aspirin find the pain?
Why does sucking on helium make your voice sound funny?
Why do Asians turn red after consuming alcohol?
plus over one hundred other questions I am interested in their answers. In short, it's knowledgeable and entertaining. A great resource for chat, too. Dont miss it.
- I purchased this for a friend of mine for his birthday. He's a bit of a brain, and I figured this would peak his intrest. Great value.

5 comments about The Perfect Storm: A True Story of Men Against the Sea.
- *I recently got this book while on vacation to have for a good summer read. While not completely disappointed, I would have to say I am not at all a fan of this book either. A mistake I made was that I saw the movie before I read the book and while reading it felt unaffected by what I read due to the over the top action and tear jerking in the movie. I expected the same in the book and just didn't get it. Also, while interested in fishing and the ocean in general this book failed to keep my attention. The random explanations of weather patterns and useless historic journal writings of seventeenth and eighteenth century ship captains and seamen interrupted the story for me. I felt that the only times the book got good was when the author told the story about the men on the Andrea Gale, which was limited and rare. Of course, the writing is speculative and journalistic but there wasn't much other than that that really stuck with what I thought the book was about. There was no in-depth biography of the six seamen lost (who really am I reading about), the story jumped around too much from weather to a fish boat captain in Florida to one in Massachusetts, back to weather and a little smidgen of the Andrea Gale thrown in and then back to the 1800s, it was also just too technically exhausting, no pictures of the seamen and/or the Andrea Gale and once I began understanding what was being said about storms and currents Junger either ended the chapter or jumped to something else to discuss. I really wanted this book to be good and I did begin reading it with an open mind, however by somewhere in the middle it lost me and I felt the potential for something great had sunk. Maybe if it had been written by someone else it could have been more but unfortunately for me it wasn't. For an example of how the story of the Andrea Gale and the six seamen who went down with her should and could have been told, while not along the same subject but still telling a story it has to tell like it should, check out Richard G. Fernicola's Twelve Days of Terror.
*This review is based on the Harper Torch paperback edition.
- This book was extremely well researched and very detailed and descriptive...I couldn't put it down, and quite frankly learned so many things from it that I was not aware of regarding the risks taken every day by commercial fisherman everywhere, nautical terms, all about charts, weather tracking and patterns, rescue protocall...just sooo many new things. If you are looking for a romanticised version such as the movie portrays, this is not it....this is the hardcore truth that places it in a non fictionary way. No overblown speculated plot, no bull (don't get me wrong, I adore the movie too!) ...just the truth and actual accounts given by all the writers sources...the 'real' words from the 'real' folks that actually lived through this devistating storm of the century. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and was quite sad when it was done. It left me wanting to know more about these hearty, brave and strong people. They look death in the face everyday without fear, never knowing if they will return to port or not, while those who love them wait on shore never knowing if that goodbye exchanged at the dockside may have been the last time they would ever see them. For those who like a good read with all the technical terms in place to better explain, you will love this book.
- well researched, beautifully written true story of a huge storm and the swordfishing boat that didn't make it through. Shows you the dangerous job of fishing, explains how many ways the sea can sink a ship, and gives you a feeling of what it means to drown. I found it all interesting, especially learning about waves and the details of the rescue swimmers and their incredible training. Dense with details but gripping and ultimately frightening. Gives you new respect for the ocean and the rogue waves that are out there.
- Well that is what I thought too, but decided to read this on a trip and found it hard to put down. First, much of the movie and book (the part about what happened on the boat) is pure speculation, but it is the other parts of the book (not in the movie) that made the book so good.
Mr. Junger did a great job educating the lay person on the rigors of being a swordsmen, the rigors of working in the northern Atlantic and (the part I found most interesting in the book) the challenges faced by the rescue personnel put out to sea during conditions that make up the "perfect storm". He also writes about the steps to taken to become, not just a north Atlantic fisherman, but also the rescue personnel who go after them and others when in trouble.
Where the movie ended, I found the book got the most interesting, because for me that part was based on fact. The whole book was good, but it is rare that you find a book that really finishes stronger than it started and with this subject and story you would think it was even harder. Well Mr. Junger did it and it is worth reading.
- I watched the movie of this book before I read the book itself, and I have to say that the movie has taken some liberties with the story and the book is still better than the movie despite its great storm special effects. Nobody can say exactly what happened to the swordboat Andrea Gail but this book does a credible job of describing what probably happened based on knowledge of swordfish fishermen, the fishing industry, the ocean, storm behaviour and the rescue services involved.
Having read this book I now feel I know a lot more about swordfish and the fishing industry than I ever believed I would. I also feel I've been given a reasonable education in storm and wave behaviour around the Grand Banks and northern fishing waters. You have to have some patience with this book as the Storm of the title doesn't really start to play a part in its story till half way through the book. Up till then everything is mostly background material about the fishing industry. However, even if you know nothing about the sea, this book covers so many topics in so much depth that it keeps you moving along till the tragedies and triumphs of the storm and its human costs are played out. A recommended read if you like your stories factually based but not debased to the point of being "based on a true story".

5 comments about America the Beautiful: A Pop-up Book.
- All of Sabuda's books are works of art. America the Beautiful is no exception. The use of white exclusively for all the pop-ups makes everything seem fresh, new, and precious.
A marvel of engineering!
- I bought several pop up books by Sabuda. His incredible paper engineering has inspired and intrigued me for years. My joy is sharing these magical books with my 7th graders. I rarely allow them to touch, but they still are amazed. Those who come in at lunch or after school spend forever studying them and trying to make their own versions. These books are delicate and not for young children, but there is not an engineer or an adult art lover who won't love owning them.
- Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R9ZDFQBQU02JU This is a brief video walking you through this pop-up book.
- We give these beautiful books as gifts, and party favors. It is a perfect art object to share with children old
enough to not tear it up.
- We have several Robert Sabuda pop up books- he does a marvelous job! This book is beautifully made with many pop ups that show you America's beauty along with the lyrics to the song. We gave this book to a friend's son and he kept reading it over and over and over!

5 comments about The Sicilian.
- Countless stories have been written but few are truly captivating. "The Sicilian" is one of these. Puzo has an unparalleled ability to describe the beautiful Sicilian landscape. He also examines the soul of each character with amazing precision. The end result is an intimate and powerful piece of work.
- This book is less intricate and paced faster than _The Godfather_. The novel is based on the real-life story of Salvatore Giuliano, the Sicilian bandit, a character whom I knew nothing about prior to reading this book. Thus, I cannot judge how accurate his representation is. Nonetheless, the story is exciting and engrossing, and a classic tragedy. As always, Puzo's imagery is enchanting. He paints a picture of mid twentieth-century Sicily that is both beautiful and brutal. Definitely recommended.
- I enjoyed this book from the perspective of historical accuracy about Salvatore Giuliano (the spelling was changed by Puzo to Salvatore Guiliano) and Sicily. I found it be an interesting read.
- I was very pleased with this book/ my husband is reading the whole series and is very happy with it. Thank you
- I read this book after finishing Puzo's remarkable Godfather novel. The Godfather was great, but this book was awesome. I loved every part of the book. Granted, it takes time for the character development and the action to begin. But once Turi gets going, you can't stop him. I fell in love with all the characters in this book. Puzo is excellent at creating a character that you love to cheer on. If you like The Godfather this book will give to the same exciting feeling during your reading. To my surprise this book has not yet become a motion picture. It would be an excellent film. Great characters, good film, deception, love, light sex, adventure, the true Sicilian Mafia. Finally, this book was sick!!

5 comments about The Foot Book (Bright and Early Books for Beginning Beginners).
- The Foot Book is a really good book. I think it is funny and fun to read.I think that it is funny how every page has a different kind of feet.like wet foot dry foot.Dr. Seuss is a good author and alll of his books are good. When i was little i never got board with Dr.Suess book. There all good. The foot book never gets boring and it is just a fun book to read.
- Dr. Seuss does it again with yet another one of his great childrens books. Though this one not all the most informational, I rate it three stars because it is a fun book to read. Just the rhyming of the great author making up things all the way from pig feet to clown feet. This book also could teach you your left from right foot for a young child.
- I think this was a very good book.I really enjoyed it and i think that anybody could be as wonderful as Dr.Seuss if they use imagination. This is super cool and funny you should read this book i recomended!!!!
Debora!!!
- The Foot Book is a great book. I love how Dr. Seuss ryhmes and just makes the book easy to read and sometimes a tongue twister if read it to fast. The pictures in this book are big, bright, and colorful which makes little kids just want to keep reading. This book kept me reading, and I really want to know how Dr. Seuss does it. He uses simple words that I wouldn't think to use such as "fuzzy fur feet." This is a great book, and I recomend it for little children and maybe even adults if you like childrens' books.
- Dr. Seuss will always be the genius and master of children's books. I love the way I can interact with my son and play with his feet, while I read to him. Books like this will help my son develop a love of learning. He is not yet two, but he knows where the books are and talks while he is flipping through the pages, acting as if he can read them.

5 comments about Living Loving and Learning.
- This book was excellent. It really showed me what a passionate life could be...Leo reminds us that life is for the living, and that we need to make the most of every minute of it. He also reminds us that fundamentally we are unique and lovable creatures, God made no mistakes when he made any of us. Wonderful book with a positive impact.
- This is a collection of Leo Buscaglia speeches all bundled up under one cover! I wouldn't trade this book for almost anything. Leo had the most extraordinary outlook on life and people and I miss having him in the world.
- This book is incredible and I believe everyone should own a copy. If I had enough money I'd buy it for the entire world. Very simple, down-to-earth, and humane reading. Leo Buscaglia represents every individual in this heart warming lectures book!
- I'm glad people like Leo Buscaglia. Really, I am. If he helps people, fantastic. However, after receiving the book as a gift, I felt smothered by his "love talk", sounding for all the world like a medicated flower child. Considering that his ideas coalesced in the 60's, this may not be far from the truth. The book is a bit like mind control, and I'm sure his speaking presence was compelling. However, I think optimism is best tempered by reality and concrete steps, rather than this unedited exhortation to "love". A simplistic order to love is not going to work for most people. Love must be tempered with reason, intellect, responsibility, and experience. Life is a battlefield, and we are the soldiers. Choose a side and keep your eye on your enemy.
- I have not only read this book myself, but have purchased it for many of my friends that have faced difficult times in their lives. Dr. Leo Buscaglia was wonderful as a Professor at USC, and his books carry forward the legacy of exactly what this title says: Living, Loving, Learning. It can be read many times over, and something new sets into the mind of understanding of who we are, what we are, and how we can have a happy life in all circumstances.
