5 comments about Tuff Stuff's Complete Guide to Starting Lineup: A Pictorial History of Kenner Starting Lineup Figures.

1. This book simply tells you the history of kenner stating lineups. It gives a picure by picure lineup of all the slus ever produced. I think if you collect figures this is the book for you.



2. Whether you collect SLUs or are just interested, I have to highly recommend this book. It pictures every SLU and gives current (as of printing) pricing. The people that published it have a high standing in the SLU hobby.



3. If you collect slu's and are fed up with never finding any, you might like this book as a refernce. The pictures are excellent and you can finally find out what the older figures look like. The prices listed at the bottom of each figure are a nice touch. Still, the figures are only worth what they are worth to you. A secondary dealer can charge whatever he wants and you are pretty stuck if you want the figure. If you are like me, you are waiting for this market to bottom out. I do recommend the book for the visuals though.



4. The book was a great reference guide to, among other things, just be able to look at older Starting Lineups that you've only heard about. The history of each year and each sport included before the pictures is an added plus. Even though the prices for some pieces are now out dated, the book is a wonderful resorce.



5. An outstanding reference for Starting Lineup fans. This softbound book contains 192 pages with more than 2,000 full color sharp photos of this popular collectible. There is a one page overview of all U.S. issued Kenner sets on every American released figure. In addition to the photos and prices there is adequate text covering each topic. Major topics range from Introduction, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, to Multi-Sport; and a complete index for easy reference. Each figure is shown with the original card or box packaging. A book that you'll refer to often. Add it to your library.

3 comments about Making Money With Baseball Cards: A Handbook of Insider Secrets and Strategies.

1. The moment I got this book, I knew I got what I paid for! It has great strategies and explains good cards, and cards to stay away from. Donn Pearlman and Paul Green do a great job of telling the reader and sharing with the reader the experiences they both have had with dealing with cards. You could tell by the context and how well written it was, that both Pearlman, and Green know tons about cards, and do a great job of giving strategies to the readers and how and what to do to make your cards and their value rise! This book was enjoyed thoroughly by me, and if bought, I'm sure it will be by you too!



2. I bought this book through you used.

   The book was outdated and not very useful. Nothing about selling online etc. It was too old. Wish I had not bought it.




3. Hello, I'm Donn Pearlman, and I happily co-wrote "Making Money With Baseball Cards" with Paul Green. At the time this book was published, way-way back in the late 1980's, it was precedent-setting and gave excellent "insiders' tips" about buying and selling sports cards.
   
   However, Paul and I have not done an update, and frankly, much of this book is outdated: prices, grading services, online auctions, and so on. Still, there is a basic emphasis in the book that remains the same today: Be a COLLECTOR, or at the least, a collector-investor. Appreciate the sports cards first and foremost for their historic value, and maybe, in time, they'll appreciate in financial value as well.

1. Sports Collectors Digest follows up their 1,664-page "Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards" with another informative price guide, this 480-page guide specifically covers minor league cards. SCD has done their homework with this guide as well, publishing more information on more sets than any other price guides available. I highly recommend this book!



2. I collect all of the Red Sox minor league teams, and this book helped me identify all of those team sets, plus provided a name-by-name breakdown of players on all of the prospects and all-star sets. If you are a team collector, you will love this book!

3. Understand this is not a book you sit down and read. It is a great reference book and we found quite a bit of good information located within the pages.
