5 comments about Star Trek The Original Series - The Complete Third Season.
- The DVD series is great and the price was excellent. Cheaper than I could buy it for in any store.
- I haven't watched the 1st or 2nd season dvd's yet. I ordered the 3rd season because it has my favorite episodes. Spocks Brain and The Tholian web are 2 of my favorites. I really like The Enterprise Incident, where the Enterprise enters the Romulan Neutral Zone, Kirk disguises as a Romulan, Spock gets lucky and they steal the Romulan cloaking device. Way to go Spock! The video and audio quality is great. The packaging is good too. I especially like the video trailers. I can't remember the titles of some of the episodes so the trailers are a good preview. Some other reviews say that the 1st and 2nd seasons got higher ratings. If they are as good as the 3rd season, I'll probably buy them too.
Live long and prosper!
- No one seems able to write a positive, straight forward review about Star Trek's much maligned Third Season. As the media seem incapable or unwilling to run articles about Birmingham without the need to accompany absurd pictures of Sphagetti Junction, so Season Three is forever handicapped by the casual image of Mr Spock lobotomised without a single loss of hair!
Most observers tend to agree that the majority of the episodes in Season Three are ultimately lacking and the season's unbelievable opener (Spocks Brain) was certainly indicative of the substantial drop in quality to come. But the real betrayal was to sacrifice Star Trek's literary format, continuity and characterisation by foolishly exploiting Spock's box office potential at every opportunity and in doing so, the final season suffered a dreadful lack of plausibility and credibilty. And yet despite this, there remains an artistic voice about Season Three which few observers readily identify. In episodes such as "The Tholian Web", "Spectre of the Gun" and "All Our Yesterdays" you will find delicious, thoughtful scripts to rival any storyline from the revered First Season. Sadly, these gems are buried deep inside a mass of bland mediocrity, which is such a shame as Season Three contains some of Star Trek's greatest adventures (possibly as many as three of the all-time Top 10). Despite the obvious inadequacies, the final season is still in parts an enjoyable experience and worthy of repeated viewing.
The 7-disc DVD boxset is nicely packaged with all the bells and whistles you would expect - featurettes, retrospectives and commentaries. The discs are easy to navigate through with on screen menus resembling perspectives of the Enterprise bridge - a nice touch, but screen characters appear highly pixelated and lack smoothness around the edges.
- After the first two seasons of Star Trek: The Original Series, the show was set to be cancelled by its network. However, after receiving a flood of letters from devoted fans that wanted to keep the show on the air, the network renewed it for one more season. Of course, since the show was not the culutural phenomena that it has now become, the network buried it in a late-night time slot and forced creator Gene Roddenberry to operate on a shoe-string budget. As a result, the special effects or sets that are needed in a show which regularly shows viewers spectacular events are severely hampered in this season. One episode takes place in an empty Enterprise, one is set in a pitch-black room much of the time, and another takes place in a deserted old West town (as no money existed to pay extras).
Yet, for fans of the first two seasons, this Third Season still delivers some great action, mind-bending drama, and little doses of humor. It is only the physical environment of the scripts that go downhill...not necessarily the scripted material itself.
Here are what I consider to be the highlights of this Third Season:
Day of the Dove: The Enterprise continues its battle with the Klingons.
All Our Yesterdays: Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are thrown into different periods of past galaxies and forced to survive while trying to find a way home.
Turnabout Intruder: A body-switching tale that, while common fare now, had probably never been seen on TV to that point.
To conclude, the Third Season of Star Trek: TOS continued to produce some great dramatic TV hours, but was severely hampered by budgetary issues. Is it still worth your time? An emphatic "Yes"! Essentially, the show was so far ahead of its time that viewers did not know how to handle the "mature" (by 1960s standards!) themes it presented (i.e. many people boycotted the show because they thought Spock represented Satan due to his long ears!), thus its viewerships problems. It wouldn't be until the release of the major motion pictures in the 1970s and 1980s (after space travel was a well-established reality in this country) that Star Trek become the phenomena it is today.
- Outstanding idea to come out w. the original series on DVD. I own all 3 seasons. Well written, great plotlines and characters - this show was ahead of its time in addressing social issues such as prejudice, custom and tradition, disaster, grief, power, gluttony, etc.
The special effects are not so bad in the 3rd season, as per the first, but this was the way that things were done back in the day. The series does not have to hang its hat on explosions and such to carry itself.

5 comments about Frasier - The Complete First Season.
- This series had a variety of unique features, a great cast, chemisrty, on, under & over the top plots, infuriating personalities, Bulldog the sports announcer & sexist twit with few positives, & very endearing ones Frasier, who makes a mess of things{especially his dealings with women} yet you root for him because he keeps trying.
Frasier Crane a psychologist played by the enigmatic Kelsey Grammer has moved from Boston back to his hometown of rainy Seattle to take a job as a radio psychologist. In supporting roles are the great David Hyde Pierce as the even more finicky picky brother of Frasier who is also a shrink. He in my opinion steals more scenes than the rest of the cast members combined. Picture a very hyper "Felix Unger," & you will see how over the top Niles Crane truly is. The brothers cranky but common sense father, is played by John Mahoney, who gives his exasperating sons sound advice that they rarely take. His flaky English live in caretaker{Daphney Moon}, is the wickedly funny Jane Leeves. Frasier's hard bitten, man crazy co-worker Roz is played by Peri Gilpin. The exchanges between her & snooty Frasier are classic.
For me this was the best season of the whole series, the stories had plenty of variety without the usual predictability that so many shows quickly adopt. The cast had chemistry from the very begining. The relationships between the urbane brothers with its sibling rivalry & their relationship with their very provincial father was totally new on TV.
I can't remember anything involving sons & their father that was like this testy trio??? The latter were the heart & soul of the show. The best three episodes to my recollection were "The Good Son, Dinner At Eight, & My Coffe With Niles." Buy this one, you will laugh until it hurts.
- Frasier was one of the best shows ever on TV. Reliving all of these great episodes was great. If you like Frasier at all, you have to get these DVDs!
- Excellent sound, good images, well organized by episodes. It's one of those series very difficult to replace. It's a classic. You better get it. I'm buying the whole series. You don't find that kind of humor anymore.
Just one fault, no close capture.
- Fraiser is without a doubt one of the definitive sitcoms of modern television. Its blend of intelligence, humour, drama, love and life all mix together to create one awesome show! It is hilarious and in a very intelligent way; all the episodes are ingenious and well-crafted and all the characters are very interesting and are each essential to the show. Frasier, as the lead character, leads a life of interesting, hilarity, drama, and at times adventuruous oddity. Niles is the equally hilarious and brilliant brother who is absolutely in love with Daphne. Martin's the hard-nosed, retired father figure who, deep down, cares about his sons. Daphne's the British caretaker who always has a great quip to add. Roz is about as desparate as they come in terms of her love life, but she brightens the atmosphere with some very funny moments. And, Bulldog adds his hardcore self-pompous attitude that can be quite a scream! Plus, there's always something hysterical their dog Eddie does in every episode that just makes me belt out his name in laughter, "Eddieeeeeee!". Hahaha, a little tradition of mine while I watch Frasier.
In addition, the sound and picture quality of these DVDs is excellent, and it comes with some great extra features that offers even more bang for your buck. So don't miss out on the laughs, brilliance and depth that is Frasier! Thanks for the time, and peace.
- Smart, funny, classy! You HAVE to see them all or you don't know what you are missing!

5 comments about The Adventures of Milo & Otis.
- Throughout my childhood, I spent many days watching this film and I loved it then and I still find it to be quite charming. Thus, I thought buying the DVD would be a good investment. It is a great film for the entire family!
- I watched this movie so much when I was little. Mostly because I have a facination with pugs BUT also in part because this movie is great for all ages. The narration fits so perfectly with the behavior of the animals. It is just so cute.
- . . . and I still do. I find the negative remarks for this movie a bit annoying. This is a classic family film that's cute, sweet, but never really melodramatic. Sure, there's some dark moments, and they work well here. The use of classical music is also impressive.
A+
- I loved this movie as a child, but now that I watch it as an adult, it is clear that the animals are in real distress no matter how you cut the film. Whether any of them died or not, it is not difficult to see when an animal, especially Milo in this movie, is scared and in pain. Watching Milo get pecked by seagulls and then thrown off a cliff made my stomach turn. If you like to see animals in cruel situations, then this movie is for you.
- "The Adventures of Milo and Otis" is a heart warming movie ... one of those films both the kids and parents can enjoy together.
It's the story of friendship between an orange cat (Milo) and a pug dog (Otis). They meet while still a pups ... or kitten ... on a farm and are inseparable after that. Well, almost inseparable.
The movie has some adorable moments of animals being with each other .... not just Milo and Otis, but ducks, deer, bear, pigs, a fox, and chickens. It takes your heart away to see this innocence.
The movie gets a little bogged down toward the end. Our two little heroes get separated and it's just not as much fun. The movie maker should have kept them together the whole time (I believe).
But this movie is well worth checking out.

5 comments about Seinfeld - Season 3.
- Seinfeld Season 3 is one of the lesser known and less popular seasons of Seinfeld. But it is no less amazing, no less hysterical. Only 2 or 3 episodes into Season 3 do you feel that the spectacular cast has found it's groove, a groove that will remain for many years to come. Season 3 has many classic Seinfeld episodes and deserves the same attention that the more popular and latter seasons often conjure. The re-visited and oft mentioned history of Jerry and Elaine's relationship ends Season 3 and does not disappoint with lots of laughs.
- Another great season of Seinfeld DVD's. I love all the extras you get when purchasing the boxed sets. I can't wait to own them all!!!!
- I am very happy with this product, arrived SUPER fast and was as promised, doesn't get much better!
- I wasn't so sure about Seinfeld, but when I saw it pretty cheap I decided to give it a chance. I is a very good show with good acting, not very funny, but very fun to watch!
- The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is the fact that for a 23 episode season, my copy only contains 22 episodes. "The Stranded" does not appear on any of the 4 discs! No explanation as to why, it just isn't there. That episode contains one of Elaine's best lines (imho): "Maybe the dingo ate your baby.", followed by this ridiculous stoned smile. Cracks me up. Otherwise, great show, great cast, just great all around. If anybody out there knows why that episode wasn't included, please let me know...or maybe I have the only copy of the season with 22 instead of 23 episodes...

- This movie is SO WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! I cried, I laughed...I cried some more! I absolutely LOVE it and can watch it over & over again & again! Definite re-watchability! Even my husband likes it! HIGHLY recommend!
- I have another movie "Under the Tuscan Sun", which I absolutely love and one of the previews was for "Calendar Girls" so I thought I'd buy it. It isn't as good as "Under the Tuscan Sun" but it is still a really great story and very funny. It is a movie about women taking charge and disregarding society's taboo placed on the subject of nudity of women passed a certain age. These women decide to raise money to buy a new couch for the family room in a local hospital after one woman's husband is diagnosed with cancer. It's a beautiful movie based on a true story about a group of middle-aged women who come together for a wonderful cause and don't let society's silly limitations get in the way.
- This movie made a statement that just because your body may be growing older, your heart and your spirit are not.
- Sort of a take off on The Full Monty - which of course was hilariously funny! Helen Mirren is amazing - the cast is great - done very tastefully as any British film would - with humor and dry wit that is great! Light hearted - real - good humor with out the violence and horror that seems to have invaded our screens today - always keep these on hand for the times you need a good laugh!
- This is a great movie about women. It definitely lifts your spirit and makes your day. This film celebrates the beauty of a woman. Ladies, if you feel like you are ever old for something, watch this film...
This film is a must see for all - young and old.

5 comments about Curb Your Enthusiasm - The Complete First Season.
- I love this show, I never saw it when it originally aired on TV, so I went to the DVDs since friends said I'd love it. First viewing a couple of episodes I wasn't sucked in, but when I saw the one where he has to take his shoes off at the porno actor's house, I had a flashback! It was hilarious and also close to home. Oddly, I had the same situation happen to me years ago! Larry David's themes may sometimes seem trite, but they aren't, he goes deeper and deeper into many Hollywood and personal taboos and the results are works of art. The fact that he's Jewish, from the East Coast and now a transplanted LA LA Lander makes it all the more fun for us transplanted New Yorkers. I bought a couple of seasons for each parent and now they're converts.
- 4.5 stars
Some of this series has been great, and some of it painfully embarrassing to watch (let's face it, sometimes Larry is just a spoiled selfish brat). The great moments can be truly classic, however, never more so than in the hour-long pilot, where the concept of the show is not yet fully in place, and the real Larry appears as well as the LD he says (in the commentary)he wishes he could be, who is the main character in the series.
In the pilot we get Jerry and Jason Alexander and others talking about what Larry is really like, which is hilarious, and then we get some snippets of him doing stand-up, which is actually damn good. He really oughta do a full stand-up dvd. The pilot is one of the funniest tv episodes I've ever seen.
The rest of season one shows Larry settling in to the LD persona he creates, and has many excellent story lines and jokes. Essentially this is a modern comedy of manners and mores; no shortage of material there! I keep thinking of Wycherly and Congreve when I watch this; over 300 years later and we're still caught up in our dumbass conventions that signify nothing but ego and vanity.
This show will neve be as good as Seinfeld because the characters just aren't as strong (and Jason is a better Larry than Larry ever could be), but the liberties that being on HBO affords lets LD go places Sein never could...but I guess that's kind of a liability in some ways. You've got to work harder for a laugh when you can't say nasty words.
This show is starting to get a little tired, but the first four or five seasons have some truly genius moments. Any guy worth a billion dollars who can make millions of people feel sorry for him is a genius, no doubt!
- Curb is the most irreverant, taboo-busting comedy series I've ever seen. Some may find it offensive, but those are the best people to watch it with.
- My sister told me a long time ago about this show. I had never seen it and she told me that she loved it. She assured me that I would like it. Well, I got the first season the other day and I must say that she was right. This show is hilarious!!!! I recommend it to anybody. Larry David is funny as hell.
- I like challenging my family and introducing them to material that stretches their point of view. Not being an HBO subscriber, I was hoping CYE would be on the level of Seinfeldt- good for the whole family. Larry David's all too frequent use of the "F" word and crude references to male and female organs in my mind makes this rich series inaccessible for grandma and grandpa, the grandkids, and probably many church goers who could really benefit from this sophisticated humor. IMHO, it's a shame he couldn't have curbed his enthusiasm just a tad to make this wonderful series available to all (like Seinfeldt). Grandma is stuck with the less lustrous American Idol and old issues of Millionaire, while I'll be frustrated that I can't share this wonderful comedy classic.

5 comments about Girl, Interrupted.
- This was so strange. I had been in this hospital for 3 weeks, to be perfectly honest, for depression. McClean's. I was feeling a little better so took this book from the library. Well, I couldn't believe it when I relised I was in the same hospital as the book. I knew this to be true because not only was the hospital name the same but they spoke of tunnels where you could go from one building to another and I'd been down them plenty of times. In groups with "the police patrol" as we called them.
The book itself was excellent. Although as far as I know, no one was ever in the hospital for longer than a month. And those bloody "police control" did there daily 5 minute rounds. I also watched the movie which I must say is much better than the book. More detail. And Angeelia Jolie is fantastic. She makes the movie. I'm glad she won the oscar.
- I'm always curious to see how the plight of women regarding healthcare, particularly psychological and mental healthcare is depicted in art. I consider any fiction on the topic to be a mere sliver of what really goes on behind such closed doors, this being even more the case in the repressed climate of the 1960s. Set in Claymoore, a private mental hospital for young women, the prevailing curiosity of the film is determining if the girls are truly ill, or if they just don't adhere to the morays of the era. In most cases it seems to be a bit of both, the level of tragedy as compelling in either.
The story is told from the perspective of Susanna, Ryder's character, who is certainly suffering from depression and repression. As Susanna endures the bumps of settling in we are introduced to the girls on her ward. She also establishes relationships with the facility's staff, namely a nurse played by Whoopi Goldberg, who certainly fills a mentor role for Susanna. Being the narrative bridge between these two worlds establishes Susanna as a reasonably reliable perspective for us to get a glimpse into these womens' lives. Some are there to cope with behaviours stemming from abuse, tragedy, and deeply seated psychotic imbalance. We navigate those waters with Susanna as their stories are divulged. However, as she learns more about them she becomes more caught up in their processes, somewhat losing sight of her own. In the end she has to decide between finally feeling at home among peers and the balanced instruction of her keepers, against working to heal and leave the ward.
The story is compelling and edgy, though not nearly as enthralling as I'd hoped. The writing is well done, though the acting feels somewhat stiff from most of the cast--Ryder in particular. This role does not seem to be a far stretch from many of her quirky 'ultra-femme needing to find herself' roles. The soundtrack is an interesting combo, too. All in all the film does a great job of depicting the many shapes, sizes and flavors of mental illness and the management of it, and in honoring how we all have interrupted moments.
- If you're like me, and you love movies where characters are little bit insane, then this movie is for you. Angelina Jolie puts on one of my favorite performances and is terrific in the film. Buy this movie!
- It took me two or three viewings to feel comfortable with the problems of the main characters, particularly Brittany Murphy's Daisy, but I began to see what a well-handled study of madness, 'the System' and unhealable sadness this film is.
Angelina Jolie finally proved that she could act. The Oscar is richly deserved because her performance is so meticulous and moving. Winona Ryder is cautious and difficult to feel for at first, but she shows more skill as her character begins to empathise with Jolie's sociopathic Lisa and Murphy's tragic Daisy.
This film rewards repeated viewings because it is emotionally rich and absorbing.
- Wynona Ryder has always been one of my all time favs. People always say this is a chick flick but it's much more than that. The performances are top of the line and the film manages to take a very sensitive subject matter (mental illness) and balance it with the right amount of comedy and drama. I get so angry with some of these institutions and their treatment of vulnerable women so films like this help to bring attention to people struggling with demons. Angelina Jolie is superb in this film. This is one of my favorite Jolie films.

5 comments about The Silence of the Lambs (Two-Disc Collector's Edition).
- The Silence of the Lambs is still a top-notch horror film. The acting is superb, Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster are dynamite together even though the don't have a lot of scenes together. Ted Levine is the creepiest serial killer of all-time as Buffalo Bill. Not for the faint-hearted, definitely one to watch! Enjoy.
- ...this and The Godfather.
This movie is brilliant; it's all about Hopkins' and Foster's acting. Yes, it can be horrifying and over-the-top, but this is NOT a "horror movie;" it's not camp. It's a brilliantly terrifying movie that will forever be a classic. Those who don't like it are uptight and have no taste in movies! :)
- This was a gift for my man - a fan of this series. A good choice - the second DVD has lots of good fyi's, and of course, the movie rocks.
- The Silence of the Lambs is hard to recommend. Others who never dare to tread inside the mind or get shocked and scarred on the mere fact that a doctor who knows the mind also happens to eat people will hate this. The others that find darkness and the darkness of the human nature will find this movie one to think about, and will love it. I find it completely awesome that this movie covers so much of the dark side of human nature.
First off, this movie is just incredibly well played out, directed, and acted. The music and the way everything is set up makes everything flow so well, and it drives the point home. Just witness how Clarice's first encounter with Hannibal. Everything is executed so well you can really feel tense anticipating that first encounter with a man who is said to rip you apart from the body to the mind. Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, both well acted, they do a great job. Anthony Hopkins deserved all the awards, especially because he makes his character so memorable despite his small screen time. And props to Buffalo Bill as well, and the kidnapped daughter (I could really feel the distress she was going through down in that hole). You can really feel the characters.
The story is the main part. Using a serial killer to find a serial killer is kind of absurd, but I found that Hannibal Lector is compelling as he is. He is the best serial killer in a movie. Having the brains of a genius who knows the mind more than someone knows themselves goes to show brains do help. The mere fact he knows that, along with being a cannibal, awesome. Watching a killer like that makes me wonder if there are people like Lector in the neighborhood. There could be people like that. It's very real (though to be fair, any idiot can put on a mask and weld a knife).
The Silence of The Lambs may not scare you, so don't really write it off as this really scary movie that will make you shake all over if it doesn't. It's really just a fascinating, entertaining movie that will make you want more until the credits roll. Watch it. If you don't like it, that's fine, but you should just watch it. If you haven't, do it.
- There's no denying Hopkins mastery in this movie.
Foster is equally masterful.
The script, direction, atmosphere is simply brilliant.
I'm not new to gore but I don't like the cannibal stuff.
Yuck!!!!!!!
A brilliant movie that will take its place in horror history.
It's a must see movie for horror or thriller fans, but it's not appropriate for kids.
Easily in the top twenty of all time best horror films.
Recommended!!!

5 comments about Mallrats (Collector's Edition).
- In keeping with the theme of going back to the well, Kevin Smith and the View Askew gang present the Mallrats 10th Anniversary Edition DVD. If you're an absolutely die hard fan of the movie, by all means buy this now and spend the remainder of your day with the DVD and some chocolate covered pretzels. If you're not, just stick to the Collector's Edition you have now.
I'm a huge fan of everything that Kevin Smith and Company have done over the last fourteen years, but I was honestly a bit disappointed that this DVD didn't bring a lot to the table. You have the theatrical feature (with commentary) as well as the same features you had with the Collector's Edition DVD. The only difference on this DVD is that rather than seeing the cut footage as cut footage, Kevin and Scott cut it back into the film, creating the "extended" cut, and you also have a short 10th Anniversary Q&A with Kevin, Scott Mosier, and some of the cast.
Those are really the only differences. I was personally hoping for a little more effort. Perhaps an updated commentary track? Something more to make it feel like it's not just the same DVD with new packaging. All in all, it's the same movie we fell in love with once we saw it on Starz. If you're looking for a DVD with lots of extras, I'd suggest Clerks X.
- This is a really lousy movie made up of crass, vulgar, toilet humor. I can't imagine how anyone could find this entertainment. The acting is totally second-rate and it looks like it was filmed with one of those old-fashioned "camcorders" that everyone had in the 70's and 80's. Even my two favorite stars, Priscilla Barnes & Shannen Doherty can't save this raw sewage.
- Mallrats (1995) - Kevin Smith
It seems that out of all of Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob films, this one has received the most negative reviews. Even my favorite film critic, Roger Ebert, gave this a 1 1/2 stars out of 4. Personally, I can't see why. Sure, it's not Kevin Smith's best film (that award goes to either Clerks or Chasing Amy), and its definitely not a great film, but its also not nearly as bad as a lot of critics make it out to be. I find the dialogue relatively witty, the interplay between the characters fun, and the minor romantic elements charming, at the least. Yes, the plot is relatively vapid, the acting is bad, and the overall refinement is a little lacking. However, I feel that all of it just adds to the overall charm. Thus, I would recommend that one at least check it out before immediately dismissing it.
- Like most cult classics either people really love the film or they tend to consider it a useless piece of trash with some viewers in the center unmoved by the controversy. This movie is no different.
The movie seems to cling to the romanticized backdrop of a mall where two slackers out of their luck regarding women spend their time trying to find something interesting to do. The story is complicated by the fact the main character's love interest is being forced to date another man for the sake of her father's game show. From here begins an adventure for the sake of love, for chocolate pretzels, and for finally finding something to do.
The whole story is pretty funny and well put together considering the topic. Likely comic book fans will understand the main characters more than those who don't (it's a subculture even) but anyone can understand the general feel of the story depending upon if you like this sort of humor. I'd suggest watching it but if you didn't like Clerks you may find the same sort of humor here and be turned off to this as well.
- I don't want to like this film. Really, I don't.
It's offensive and vulgar (don't let your kids see it, please). It features a 15-year-old girl who researches her book on sex by sleeping with a variety of men between 14 and 30 years old and videotaping the sessions. The Easter Bunny gets beaten up. And when Willem (Ethan Suplee) can't see the sailboat in the Magic Eye picture, he's mean to little children (a lot of the film seems to be mean to little children).
But there's something about Kevin Smith's films that I enjoy - it's certainly not the constant swearing, but it could be the adorable Jason Lee, or the ever-present Jay & Silent Bob.
Mallrats is about a couple of college-age slackers who get dumped by their girlfriends on the same day and visit the mall to cheer themselves up.
TS (Jeremy London) is the quiet one, brooding over his love, while Brodie (Lee) is the not-at-all quiet one, obsessing over comic books and video games and ranting about everything he sees.
London is nice but dull, while Lee makes the movie. This was his first major film role, and he's just hilarious. And he somehow makes his insensitive, argumentative character quite likeable.
Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Smith himself) are a lot of fun, as always, as they save the day for TS & Brodie and help them get their girlfriends back.
The movie doesn't really make any sense - there are many holes in the logic. But that's okay, it's not meant to be logical.
I really did hate the offensive parts (I can't watch when they beat up the Easter Bunny in front of little kids!). But, like I said, I couldn't help but enjoy the movie despite myself.
If you're not familiar with the movie, you may want to rent it before buying it. Unless you're already a Kevin Smith fan, in which case, you've probably already seen the movie a million times anyway. ;-)

- Seven was a bit of a disappointment to me. While the actors are, of course, top notch (who actually dislikes Morgan Freeman? You're a liar!) the actual storytelling in this movie left me feeling pretty bored and uninterested.
I would have liked more in the way of atmosphere, instead of one storyline bit carefully moving along at a pace that almost put me to sleep a couple times.
I understand most people like this movie, and that's perfectly fine with me, but it just wasn't good enough for me. Maybe if I give the movie a second chance I'll like it more. That's always a possibility. Sometimes the second time finally makes something click. Or maybe I'm just not smart enough to get it :)
- Seven is a well-made crime drama, with an excellent and suspenseful score by Howard Shore. Note: On the back of the DVD case, it is written that the film is presented in 1.85:1 aspect ratio; however, this is not the case. The DVD is presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio and enhanced for widescreen (16:9) TVs. The picture and sound are of very high quality.
- Amazing that this thriller is now 13 years old!
I happened upon "Se7en" tonight while flipping through the channels and thought what a classic, I should post a review on it!
There are over 500 reviews here for the movie, so you don't need me telling you the storyline.
If by some chance, you have not seen "Se7en", definitely check it out. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt are absolutely excellent in this very dark thriller.
A top 100 movie of all time!
- This is one of my personal favorites because you can go back to it and enjoy it like the first time. It is gritty, dark and very disturbing however Morgan Freeman, Gwenyth Pawltrow and Kevin Spacey are superb in their roles. Good dialouge, stylistic and very twisted ending that will get under your skin. If you have not seen it, rent it and then decide which if it is a movie you can appreciate.
- The seven deadly sins exemplified in this serial killer genre flick with a young Brad Pitt and the usual creepy performance by Kevin Spacey as the killer. Black and white cop buddy movies are a dime a dozen, but this one is saved by a decent script and good acting. The end is a gross out, but at least we are spared actually seeing it.
