1. It's cool that someone put all these old stories together like this, probably by licensing the articles from the original magazine publishers. But in the end it's not that rewarding except for the vintage factor--photos and style of writing. Still, for a Cruiserhead it may be a cool addition to the library.

1. It is great book as are all of Haynes manuals. It is informative and very well written. The directions are easy to follow and thought out. Well worth the Money!



2. This is the second Haynes manual I've purchased for a Toyota, and I highly recommend it. The best feature is that the instructions are clear and easy to follow, which take most of the guesswork out of performing simple repairs and preventative maintenance on your vehicle.
   
   Another important characteristic of these manuals is that they educate you to the point where you can talk intelligently and confidently to a mechanic if necessary. Depending on the nature of the work you need, this can save you a significant amount of money, and this alone will pay for the cost of the book.



3. Although a bit broad, but you know that by the title, this is a good manual to have on hand for basic maintenance issues, photos, diagrams, descriptions, etc.



4. This book skips all the info I bought a manual for with notes like 'further disassembly and service requires special tools and is not recommended, take the sub assembly to a service facility' wow, thanks for that, waste of money!

1. I am Teacher in Celaya Tech and review the book for recomendate a my students in Industrial Enginer



2. This article summarizes the research Steven Spear did on Toyota for his PhD dissertation at Harvard Business School.
   
   While most previous research on the Toyota Production System looked at the physical systems and artifacts, Spear looked at Toyota through the eyes of an anthropologist. He was interested in how the social and cultural aspects of Toyota combined with the technical systems to create the phenomenal business results they are famous for.
   
   What he found was consistent application of four tacit, undocumented "rules-in-use" guided the design and execution of every process he observed.
   
   He also researched other companies that were trying to emulate the Toyota Production System, and found that while they were implementing the physical aspects of the system, they were not applying the rules-in-use he observed at Toyota.
   
   Understanding these rules, and especially their effect on the organization's framework for thinking, will take the reader up a level from the "implement the tools of lean manufacturing" approach that so commonly stalls and fails today.
   
   I have given it 5 stars because I consider it mandatory reading. However, it is not necessarily an easy read. There was a lot of information to compress into a very few pages. (The original dissertation is 465 pages.) This article is best digested slowly. Read it, apply understanding as you have it, gain some experience, read it again. Upon the second reading you will "get" things that you glossed over the first time. Then do it again. The more practice you have with applying the concepts, the more depth emerges from this research.
   
   Note: Spear will be publishing a book, currently titled "Chasing the Rabbit: How Market Leaders Outdistance the Competition and How Great Companies Can Catch Up and Win in the fall of 2008. Based on his other work, and meeting him and hearing about the research and conclusions presented in the book, I expect it to be very good.



3. This article, among other material, is required reading for my team.
   
   Pro:
   -Brief article with a nice executive summary
   -Describes in part why lean, Toyota's version of just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing, works so well (and you can see one reason why it is so hard to copy)
   
   Con:
   -In my view does not fully address DNA elements, a short article by D. Rock and J. Schwartz called "The Neuroscience of Leadership" published by Business and Strategy, issue 43, adds more to the puzzle
   
   Bottom line: a must have.

1. I got this book to change the knock sensor but it's helpless. It does not have good instruction for dummy like me. Lack of pictures.

1. Chiltons and Haynes are both decent books for repairs, but the primary thing that impressed me about Haynes books over Chiltons is the great wiring diagrams and better pictures.



2. Excellent layout and organization making it easy to quickly find topics of interest. Loaded with many useful pictures and tables. Excellent book for all maintenance tasks. This book is also very useful for moderate repairs like brake pad/shoe replacement. For major repairs this book is not a substitute for the dealer shop manuals. Modern vehicle malfunctions often require OBDII scan tools and while this topic is covered in the book the details required for serious malfunction identification are lacking. A good book if you do not intend to do major malfunction trouble shooting or major overhauls. A very good book for the price!



3. As always the Haynes manuals do a thorough job of explaining both routine maintenance and repairs. It will save you expensive mechanic fees by letting you know secrets to doing most work. I had to replace the serpentine belt and the manual made this chore quick and easy.



4. This is a decent repair manual for most usual repairs. It is not an indepth mechanics manual. If you are looking for the basics plus some detail then this will work well for you.
