2 comments about Guide to Fly Fishing in Colorado.
- I think this is a pretty reasonable guide to fishing in Colorado. The book is very easy to use - open the page to the river or lake you are considering fishing - get directions, map, descriptions, info on hatches and flies, and hints without wading through reams of text.
- Drawing on his past 27 years of experience and expertise fly fishing Colorado waters, Jackson Streit's No Nonsense Guide To Fly Fishing In Colorado offers the aspiring angler a quick, clear, informative body of information to successfully fly fish Colorado's best streams, rivers, and lakes. The "reader friendly" text is enhanced with detailed, hand- drawn maps and annotations. From the Colorado River, The Gunnison, and the Platte, to Spinney Reservoir and Trappers Lake, every Colorado bound angler should begin planning his fishing trip with a thorough reading of Jackson Streit's No Nonsense Guide To Fly Fishing In Colorado.

4 comments about American Sports Car Racing in the 1950s.
- This book covers the events that dominated the early years of my life. I felt being a part of the timing and scoring team with the Long Beach MG Club gave me an insiders look at all the happenings but after reading the book I see there were a lot of things I didn't realize. It was a facinating look back at racing when it was still fun. Looking at the pictures makes you realize these guys were the real super-heros. Five inch wide tires racing at tracks literally line with trees and telehone poles all graphically covered in this book! I'm waiting for volume II !!
- I was there at St Jo and Elkhart and Sebring and the airport circuits in the Midwest and this book is awash in memories. The pictures are perfect for bringing back the cars and the people that as a teenager I worshiped...remembering the ride with neighbor Masten in the Allard to the Leawood drug store on snowy streets to buy the lone copy of Road & Track. We didn't have California, but the trickle down was pretty good...Denise at Meadowdale, Hall in Kansas, Bunker and Katskee and the rest. I sold my '32 Ford for an MG and never looked back...American Sports Car racing as I recall and Lynch describes formed a life long love for the era and the cars...as I read now sitting in my '54 Morgan in my garage with a can of Schlitz. This book is a keeper.
- I was there during this era, as the wife of a driver, as a licensed flagman and while I thought this book made a heroic effort to cover this very exciting time I thought it missed the true uniqueness of the era which was the beauty of the people and the mystery of the machines. This book spends a lot of time talking in depth about a few people, one of the author's brothers for example. It is really not so much about American racing as it is about California racing - lines saying that Sports car racing (even Vintage car racing) may have begun in the Northeast but came to maturity in California give evidence to the bias toward covering this era with a definite prejudice toward certain people and certain geography. Like a previous reader, I too would like to see Volumn II perhaps the authors can cover the era with more of an eye to history and less self interest. However, to their credit these authors have assembled a tremendous number of interesting photos and despite the wordiness of the text much fascinating data.
- When my book "American Racing ~ Road Racing In The 50s and 60s" was published I was deluged by calls from the West coast. Everybody wanted to know, "When are you going to do a book about West coast racing." I had to tell them I never photographed over there.
Well here it is "American Sports Car Racing in the 1950s" by Michael Lynch. And it is a winner! I learned things about the racing scene on the left coast that boggled my mind. Michael Lynch's words hooked me and I could not put the book down. He owes a couple of nights sleep! "American Sports Car Racing in the 1950s" is the perfect companion to my book. I highly recommend it. Buy it today. Tom Burnside

1 comments about Formula 1 2000 World Championship Yearbook: The Complete Record of the Grand Prix Season.
- As a first time buyer of this Grand Prix Yearbook, I was really amazed at the quality of the photos. I especially appreciated the fact that the brief descriptions given for each photo was written on separate pages rather than ruining the photos by having the words typed right on them. Beautiful cover of Ferrari and did a good job getting pics from every team / driver. The book is essentially a photo illustration of the year, with a brief summary of each race, including qualifying, the race itself and some highlights. I continue to enjoy the book.

3 comments about BMW M-Series and Performance Specials (Sports Car Color History).
- This is the best book about performance BMW I have come across. It features history, facts and pictures about M1, M3, M5, M635 CSi, M6 and 850 CSi.
What suprised me the most was the in depth information and nice pics about Alpina, featuring the B10 BiTurbo, B12, B8 4,6 (3 series with 333 HP V8) and early B7 Turbo models. Info about ALL Alpina models and M models! Also mentioning some Hartge models, AC Schnitzer CLS II and CLS III. As I said earlier, the definite book regarding M models, Alpina and other top-notch tuners.
- J. Cohen's writing is several cuts above the usual hack quality found in car books. Alas, he is awfully focused on Alpina, Hartge, etc., and skimps on info on the M models that are presumably the subject of the book! More detail on what, for instance, makes an E34 M5 different and special, or what are all the mods made to the E30 M3 that make it such a big deal, and how did it do in racing? None of this is addressed; rather, he spills a lot of ink on detailing every nuance of every Alpina product made in the last 30 years. If he wanted to write a history of Alpina, that's fine, but the cover, title, and description of the book leads one to believe that its principal focus is M and the products thereof.
Nonetheless, the book is still several cuts above MBI's usually atrocious quality standards, and makes for an interesting evening of reading.
- This is a very good book. Goes into great detail on BMW's history of performance special cars, how this came about, and where Alpina and Schnitzer and even Hartge fit into this. However, there is clearly a slant towards Alpina. The author does state however that Alpina has more of an "in" with BMW than the other tuners and therefore is a bit more respected. There is great detail on engine specs, displacement, special models, and even production numbers for each model. He details the evolution of the 2002, then goes through the 3, 5, 6, and 8 series. There is a section on the M1 also. Whenever possible, the author seems to mention whether any of a certain type of car were ever imported into the U.S. or not. He includes a description of the U.S. grey market in the 80s in the beginning of the book. The pictures in the book are fantastic and almost all are in full color. This book is worth every penny of the meager asking price. Thumbs up!

1 comments about Mercedes And Auto Racing In The Belle Epoque, 1895-1915.
- This is a nicely produce volume with numerous photographs that are very evocative of the period. The content is good with a great deal of unique historical information and background on the personalities. I found the text, however, to be difficult to read, due to the unusual use of the english language. I feel this valuable work would be much improved through more detailed editing. Nevertheless, I feel this volume remains essential reading to any student of early motoring history.

1 comments about BMW R850, R1100, R1150 And R1200C, 1993-2004 (Clymer Motorcycle Repair).
- The manual contains concise, step-by-step instructions on how to perform scheduled maintanance as well as indepth information on everything from engine teardown to clutch replacement. The primary thing lacking is better subject, chapter indexing. It would be great if the repair items referenced in the maintanance schedule had a page or chapter reference to go directly to. This would save alot of time.

1 comments about Shelby (Enthusiast Color Series).
- There have been many books written on the automotive creations of Carroll Shelby, but this one stands out in 2 ways. The photographs (many of which were taken by the author himself) are fantastic, and the section detailing Mr. Shelby's years with the Chrysler Corporation is first rate. Every Shelby-Dodge fan needs to have this book.....period!
